I doubt North America is getting something better than a poster this time around.

FlyingBeastie August 29th, 2014 6:33 AM

I just checked on the GAME website and the Steelbooks CAN be bought from them for the same price as they are on the Nintendo store. Though they will not come with the pre-order figurines like the standard editions do from GAME. So you can either get the Steelbooks with the figurines through Nintendo or potentially get them earlier with GAME... I think this is Nintendo's way of trying to get more of the Steelbook buyers to buy through them...

I now don't know where to pre-order the steelbooks as I want the figurines but I have never ordered directly from Nintendo so I don't know how near to release I'd even get the games...
Amazon appears to just be conflicted, with ORAS earlier in the week being really cheap at £30 but now AS is around £32 while OR is £33, so definitely not ordering from them.

I have to say, Europe seems like they ended up getting the good stuff again. Those Groudon and Kyogre figurines, and the Hoenn starter keychains are nice but it's definitely those steelbook cases that are grabbing attention.

But given I'm from Australia (despite being in the PAL region like Europe is) I'm kinda dreading we may get something meh but then again I think Americans are the one who really get the short end of the stick.

The SteelBooks look really sick! I wonder why they aren't available worldwide tho. I'm definitely going to buy the Alpha Sapphire steelbook!

PS. The cartridges are not transparent :( I was hoping they were!

Look up Canada.

Nope. Squat.

I sure hope it isnt like the poke history poster, where you need both games preordered.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire September 1st, 2014 6:04 PM

Well Europe does have the one week delay while the rest of us will get the games in our countries on the 21st.

Haggerella September 2nd, 2014 6:06 PM

Yep. Typical. Rest of the world gets cool stuff, but Australia will likely just get a fart and a thumbs up~

Beloved September 4th, 2014 6:08 PM

My boyfriend is flipping out because he saw the stuff that the UK and Japan are getting, while a lot of other places are left out on the goodies.

The UK? I thought it was all of Europe getting the pre-order bonus.

I hope that in a few days those of us in Australia, and North America get our own pre-order bonuses announced.

Unless my source is wrong, its the UK, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand that get the figurines, provided that you ordered from EB Games. And Serebii is rarely ever wrong with matters of preorder bonuses.

So yeah, seems a tad bit like most countries are getting the raw end of the deal again.

Nevermind, it seems the figurines are UK only, and the Steelboxes seem to all of Europe (counting the UK).

Itcheeee September 4th, 2014 7:35 PM

Apparently here in the US, if you pre-order Both games you get a Charzard plush valued $22 (thought I saw $29 somewhere though)
Very nice for a bonus, but it'd be nice if you got something for ordering just one game.
Hope it will be a Mega Charizard X though :O Would of been really excited if it was Hoenn related in the slightest, Rayquaza plush even? :P I don't collect Charizard but might keep it if it's Mega X :>

Hermione Granger September 4th, 2014 8:18 PM

I so wish the US was getting the steelbook cases, cuz those look awesome.

theonirvana September 6th, 2014 7:54 AM

if i dont live in Uk,can i pre order the two games form the official nintendo store?(i mean nintendo.co.uk)
i live in Europe.

PlatinumDude September 6th, 2014 7:25 PM

I feel that all the North American territories will get as an OR/AS pre-order bonus is a poster, just like X/Y.

I also wish that the steel book cases are a worldwide thing, but I think it's understandable that they may not distribute that elsewhere, due to economic issues.

I think that the steel cases being released as pre-order bonuses will boost initial sales of the games. Also, I don't imagine they'll cost that much.

The thing is, the Nintendo UK store steelbook edition won't come with the standard edition packaging, meaning it'll sort of look out of place in my collection without the standard box...I would like the figurine as well, but I think I'll probably end up losing it, like with my Giratina and Arceus figures, so maybe I should just go for Game's steelbook edition.

Apparently, they do not ship outside of the UK http://www.nintendoservicecentre.co.uk/shop-faqs#Delivery

But looking at this picture:

It may not be clear but it looks like we get the standard packaging plus the steelbook... Or Nintendo could just be using the standard box to represent the game itself, I don't know... I hope it does come with the standard box...

Since I'm still waiting for my debit card to come through I haven't preordered yet, I really want the Steelbooks but I don't know whether to preorder from GAME for speedy (Early if they continue their past trend with games I have preordered from them) delivery or from Nintendo so I get the neat little figurines...

I'm kinda hoping Australians can get something decent, but for the North Americans I have a gut feeling they'll get the short end of the stick again and end up with just a poster.

Australians often got stuff that while not the best of the bunch, was at least something better than a poster. I recall that for Black & White we got Nintendo DS cases with Reshiram and Zekrom when the game was pre-ordered at JB Hi-Fi stores.

I don't recall the other games' preorder bonuses but B/W's was fairly alright.

That's what it looks like to me too.

Hikamaru, your post makes me depressed :(

That does seem to make it seem as though the standard packaging does come with it. It's just I've read that a few people have asked, and the staff have said that while GAME includes it, the Nintendo store doesn't include the standard packaging...but perhaps all the staff did was look at the page, saw the packaging wasn't on it, and said no. Nintendo UK blog says that it comes with it, too, so I suppose it does.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire September 9th, 2014 12:54 PM

I noticed that the yellow on Groudon on the steelbox seems dimmer than that on the official art and the standard package.

Anyways if they don't reveal any special pre-order by this week for those of us in the NA then chances are we probably aren't getting anything other than the poster...

Altairis September 10th, 2014 12:08 AM

Honestly I would be fine with just a poster, because I don't think I would really use anything else anyway. Hell, I don't even think I would put up the poster anywhere but it would be nice to look at. :P

Diggerez September 10th, 2014 1:08 AM

The steelbook case isn't a pre-order bonus, you have to pay £5 extra and game are calling it the limited edition of the game.
