Shiny Rate

I wonder if the chance of encountering one in this version is still the same from X/Y or will it be alot harder to breed/encounter? Any thoughts guys/gals?

We got Masuda Method since 4th Gen, as well as chaining method. I think those will remain unchanged by Gamefreak. They might increase the base rate back to 1/8192 though. Shiny Charm still should be available, since it was for last 2 Gen games. So in general, it might be harder to ecounter them, but if only Gamefreak will go back to previous gen Shiny rate.

I think they will keep the shiny rate the same as it was in X/Y, but who knows?

Nusdogg August 17th, 2014 6:34 PM

I don't mind it being as low as X/Y. Hopefully it remains the same.

I just hope gen 7 add a new type of pokemon beside shiny, since shinies are more common this gne compared to before. I don't think they will use shadow pokemons tho.

Perhaps Metallic or Ancient varients.

Well the TCG has the Light and Dark version of pokemons.

Sceptile90 August 18th, 2014 1:54 AM

I forgot about those! I actually have a Dark Wartortle in my house somewhere! I'm not sure if it's valuable though... But a Light and Dark version of Pokémon would be cool. Only problem I can see is if they make it that it would be strange to have a Dark Umbreon or Dark Houndoom.

Perriechu August 18th, 2014 5:20 AM

I hope they just leave it as it is, shinies are still difficult to find even with the new odds. It doesn't really need to be set back to the ridiculous odds that it was at before.

As for the light/dark thing; nooooooooooo, just leave it as shiny Pokemon pls.

Pepperton August 18th, 2014 5:53 AM

I think it's going to stay the same. There's no real reason to change it, especially considering they're from the same generation.

Pendraflare August 18th, 2014 6:11 PM

As quite a few people above me have said, I don't think the shiny rate is going to change from what it was in XY, if they've already made it like that I don't see them making it back to what it was previously anytime soon.

Altairis August 19th, 2014 1:33 PM

I don't think they have a reason to change it, although I wouldn't mind making them more common because I still haven't seen a shiny Pokemon in the wild since Emerald :P

Tsutarja August 20th, 2014 5:00 AM

They already made shinies less rare in my opinion just by increasing Masuda Method's odds.. however, I would see no reason at all to change the chance of a shiny between XY and ORAS at all. It would honestly make hunting for shinies less fun and decrease the value of them significantly.
