Boy Names
Indigo- (Usual guy name I use, I needed a color of my own to use)
Kuwabara- (Favorite Anime Character)
Brendan
Peyton- My real name
Kamina
Charles Wallace

Girl Names
Violet (If thats allowed)
Keiko
Usagi
May
Meg
Sapphire (manga name)

feel free to offer some :)

KSBGaming August 26th, 2014 2:27 PM

I tend to use names that mean something to me, or my first name. From those you've listed, I liked Indigo for the boy and Usagi for the girl. But that's just my opinion!

Vinny Vidi Vici August 26th, 2014 2:52 PM

Whenever I play Hoenn, I always name myself Flair, after the wrestler Ric Flair who is famous for his white mullet. For the longest time I thought Brendan had long white hair until I realised it was actually his hat.

I think at one point everyone thought that was his hair xD

Dang it, now I'm going to never look at him the same again. I never once thought of the character looking like Ric Flair until now. And I must say, that is a hilarious thing to think about. xD

Pepperton August 29th, 2014 6:02 PM

I name my character Troy, after me, but when I play as May sometimes I decide to choose a female name. Depends n__n;

L0RD G3NGAR August 30th, 2014 9:13 AM

G4YF4G jkjk

For Brendan I think you should choose Brendan
For May I think you should choose Sapphire ^^

Juno August 30th, 2014 9:29 AM

In your lists, I like Brendan or Peyton for the male character, and May or Violet for the female. :) Brendan and May for obvious reasons, but in general, I like "real" names more, and I'm not a fan of Japanese names, so I narrowed it down to those.

Geo Unari August 30th, 2014 10:57 AM

Usually I name myself Ichiro but for alpha Sapphire I'm gonna name myself Geo Unari or Unari-Kun ^-^

Lol same here

BakingBluePotatoe September 1st, 2014 11:02 PM

I usually just use whatever name I like at the time I get the game... if I ever reboot, or play a second copy of that region, then I guess I pick a name that suits whatever theme the run will have.

First/Main files:
Momoko (Female) (Sapphire, Pearl, Soulsilver, Firered) cuz I liked that name, and at the time going from game to game was one pig advanture
Yume (Female) (White) Don't remember why, TBH. Well, I picked the girl as always, and Yume is a cute name, and it means Dream, and dreams was one of the things Gen 5 had going for it
Rosa (Female) (Y) I ALWAYS liked that name, and I actually wanted to use that on the female in White2, once I learned that was a default name. Never got around to it, so I redirected that towards my Y character's name.

Second files:
Yuki (Male)(2nd Firered run, original Diamond run, 2nd Sapphire run, Pearl/Original FR Rival's name) I like that name back then as well. I figured my second runs where always my rival's version of the game, so... yeah.
Taya (Female) (Platinum) just a random name I picked out of nowhere, actually.
Momoko (Female) (Ruby) cuz I wanted to relive my first Pokemon game. and Ruby was the closest game I had to that. Yeah.
Mickey (Male) (2nd Diamond run) was gonna be doing a KH themed challenge and got Mickey, but than I just decided to solo with my starter. but yeah. named after the theme.

How are Brendan and May not real names? Or are you referring to the colours?

The colors, yes. I mean technically, Violet's a color too, but it's also a relatively common name compared to Indigo or Sapphire.

TRGrunt September 6th, 2014 6:00 AM

I like Indigo or Brendan for a guy and May for the girl.

AFeralFurry September 6th, 2014 6:33 AM

A, definitely A. :P

No, really, I think that Indigo sounds good.

Oh, and, if anyone cares, Apparently, people named after colors isn't quite as unheard of as many people think.

Anyway, it's nice seeing I'm not the only guy that tries to think up good names.

MarinoKadame September 6th, 2014 6:45 AM

Theres some people named Fork and Spoon, so color name are better.

Emboar September 6th, 2014 7:21 AM

How about Awesome? No, I'm kidding, for the male, why not name him Justin? And for the female, why not Marissa?

Bellum September 6th, 2014 7:31 AM

I always name my character either Natsu (after Natsu from Fairy Tail), Storm or Brony. Never played as the female character though haha.

I learned it was a hat like a few years ago XD

Naikado September 6th, 2014 7:53 AM

Huh. Violet was the name I always used when I played, which was about 60% of the time, as a kid. I dunno why I did, though :/

I think that Peyton would be best for males, personally, and for females either Violet (lol), Keiko or Usagi. No need to use generic canon names :p

I think the best char names are those that mean something to you, or you choose to represent yourself. I tend to choose some really weird names, but I haven't ever done any as a reference to anything. Do whatever feels right for you c:

ingcoliptis September 8th, 2014 11:58 PM

I isually just name myself Ing, so im just too bland to come up with any ideas. Although i you pick a girl, Usagi is the way to go (kawaiii~).

The_Buddha_Wolf September 14th, 2014 4:31 AM

In my opinion, you should pick your favorite male anime character's name (If you pick male) or your favorite female anime character's name (If you pick female). My second choice would be your real name.

Abby September 14th, 2014 6:48 AM

I normally end up using my nickname on the marriland forums, Kawso.

Hikamaru September 14th, 2014 1:13 PM

When I play the games, I'll just be using my real name (Nichole) as always. And of course I always play as the girl because well, I am a girl myself.

blue September 16th, 2014 12:04 PM

I always name my character after the protagonists' default name. I'll most definitely be using Brendan/May for ORAS respectively.

Nagi September 20th, 2014 11:26 AM

when i played through sapphire when i was little, i would always name myself Sora - not after the boy from Kingdom Hearts, but after the girl from Digimon.
i'm still deciding whether i should go with that again or just stick with Nagi ...

as for you, i actually really like the name Indigo! it's kinda nice to invent your own colour and go with that, as if you were really one of the protagonists. if you want to stay in the gemstone-scene in style of the Hoenn games, you could also go with something like Topaz for the boy and Jade for the girl.

AxeBeard McBeardAxe September 21st, 2014 7:12 PM

I always nickname myself Anthony (my name) but if you're set on something besides your name.. I think Link fits nicely with the ORAS character (nothing to do with LoZ, i swear)

Del September 23rd, 2014 7:16 AM

Boy Name : Maurade (from my name)
Girl Name : Shehrazad (my gf's name)

hey you pikachu September 25th, 2014 3:55 PM

actually i would name it with my name coz its not ruby or Brendan that is playing its me

Sabrewulf238 September 27th, 2014 2:28 AM

I'm not as creative with guy names because I usually just go with my own name if I l pick a guy. Some female names I've picked for fem playthroughs in the past:

Lisa
Eliza
Jade
Velma (I was in a Scooby Doo mood :P)

As for some names I've never used myself, these are a little more "exotic".

Fiora (Character from Xenoblade Chronicles)
Paz (I think it's pronounced "path"...., I saw the name in a webcomic)
Ayilla (I just made this one up on the spot, pronounced "aey-a-la")

Musicality September 27th, 2014 2:38 AM

I don't know. It comes down to one's personal preference, so just choose the names that suit you best. No one can choose a name for you, and while it may suit them well, you may not like it or feel comfortable with it at all. :)

Back on topic. I usually go with the default names since I'm not the least bit creative, or just go for Gary since I love his attitude. Names were something I didn't really care much about, and I still don't.

TwilightBlade September 27th, 2014 8:57 AM

I'm not sure what I'm naming my character. My RSE starter was named Scarlett, and I named my XY character Scarlett because I never thought Hoenn remakes were going to happen!

I do like the names Indigo and Violet. I'm a sucker for the color-based names, like Scarlett.

Altairis September 27th, 2014 2:10 PM

I must +1 Kamina, since I thought the character you're naming him after is awesome! :) If I were picking a name out of your selection, I would go with Peyton, Indigo, or Kamina for a boy; Violet or Keiko for a girl. I usually just pick a random name that I like when I playthrough Pokemon games, but this time I know that I'm going to use my own name for Alpha Sapphire. :]

Shrew September 27th, 2014 11:21 PM

Which name do you feel most comfortable having it displayed in the PSS, loud and proud to strangers? I think that's pretty important, at least to me. Which is why I'd personally recommend against generic names such as Brendan, May, and Sapphire.

I personally like either Peyton, Violet, or Indigo (the name of my BW2 rival, haha.)

Is Violet still not allowed? >_> The fact that its a color between Red and Blue would have been very fitting.

Morgnarok September 30th, 2014 8:57 AM

I just use my username. Back in the old days when nicknames had a lesser character limit I shorted it to Symbiox but now a days at least in X & Y it was lengthened.

defeu October 18th, 2014 4:32 PM

I usually just use my real name.

clbgolden November 12th, 2014 2:01 PM

I'd go with your real name (Peyton).

PS: Didn't know you could change you're name in ORAS until I saw this.

Wait, what's this about changing your name?

HairyLoco November 12th, 2014 2:33 PM

Since Pokémon Yellow, I have always, without fail, played the male character named Ash.
That tradition is going to continue.

Reiperchdstalaschten November 12th, 2014 2:39 PM

I usually use either Dave or Ross. Otherwise a random name.

CalzoneCannon November 12th, 2014 4:14 PM

I normally name myself Cal, Calzone, or Calvin (My name), although I usually play as the male character. I always pick May when it comes to 3rd gen, so I need to think of a female name for May, since I do not like using base names, it's just unoriginal.

I've thought of so far:
Callie
Sapphire (not original, but it fits)
Leah
Kana
Azami
and Fei

Hiatus November 12th, 2014 6:22 PM

I likely stick by their original names, to be honest; if I choose male character, I'll be going with Brendan, and if I pick female, I will use May.

Though, I'll definitely consider using my actual name, Ashley, in one of my future runs (that is, if I do decide to play more than one or two times, which is likely considering how much I've loved RSE and how big of a fan I am of Hoenn region in general).

epicbiscuit23 November 13th, 2014 11:10 AM

Neon

Indigo November 13th, 2014 2:42 PM

So, after long thought I have narrowed the names down to the following

Male:
Indigo
Peyton

Female:
Violet (Vivi if it is still not allowed, could someone please tell me why it's banned?)
Keiko

Feel free to keep recommending! I would still love ideas!

Lol, talk about banned. I tried to name my Chespin in XY "Pork U. Pine" and it was banned. The reason it was banned, I narrowed down to the word "Pine". My guess is because of Pines which sounds like P**** if you said it in spanish...

-_- You've got to be kidding me. Nintendo and Game Freak really need to refine their censors.

Right? I was so disappointed because I thought it was a creative name :/

Pochama95 November 13th, 2014 6:37 PM

Kamina and May.

I was gonna call myself "The Trainer"
