Daily Cross Chop

So I'm starting up a new DCC because Oryx keeps hounding me to fix the double posting issue in the last one :P

So I will just shamelessly copy her previous rules:

1. Don't force topic changes; let the conversation flow

2. Don't post pointless things like "What are we talking about?"

3. 4 word / 25 character rule still applies (unfortunately)

4. Be nice; we're all mature people here, or at least faking it til we make it.

Lets begin with the sociopolitical situation in the Czech Republic!

GO

Mark Kamill September 1st, 2014 1:34 AM

All I can discuss about the Czech Republic is their amazing beers. 24% Double black Primator, all day erry day.

Treecko September 1st, 2014 1:42 AM

Oh hey new DCC!

I am not educated enough about the situation in the Czech Republic to really talk about it, but I'm intrigued by the amazing Czech beer Evil Stud Muffin is bringing up cause I haven't had much good beers.

Mark Kamill September 1st, 2014 1:52 AM

Its 24% vol beer, of course its amazing. 2 pints and you're good to go.

Sonata September 1st, 2014 1:54 AM

Never been much of a fan of beer, I prefer a nice mug of something 45+% and a smaller glass of some kind of soda or juice as a chaser.

Treecko September 1st, 2014 2:14 AM

2 pints of that , and I'll already have a head start of becoming tipsy. I don't drink much, but I feel I'm someone who gets drunk fairly easy.

Mark Kamill September 1st, 2014 2:21 AM

Eh, I can hold a drink, which is why I love it. I can get a buzz off of the beer, and then like 2 whiskeys afterwards. Give me normal beer and its more like 3 pints, 4 whiskeys and a couple of shots to get hammered.

Shining Raichu September 1st, 2014 3:31 AM

>joke that people should discuss Czech Republic
>people actually discuss Czech Republic
>people revert to alcohol

Welcome back DCC

Treecko September 1st, 2014 4:39 AM

That's how the DCC rolls, Andy. We always somehow end up talking about alcohol or the weather or food.

Nathan September 1st, 2014 5:01 AM

I love how there's a New School Year DCC and I haven't even started school yet.

Shining Raichu September 1st, 2014 5:17 AM

Enjoy while your summer still lasts. I think it's mentally impossible to fully appreciate the break until you're actually back in prison a classroom, then you realize how amazing summer was. Even if you didn't go anywhere exciting or do anything spectacular, it's still infinitely better than going to school.

Sheep September 1st, 2014 8:11 AM

These back to school posts make me so happy to be done with school. It was a royal pain to get through college for my degree but now I don't have to go to back ever again. Wheeeew oh the relief.

Aeroblast September 1st, 2014 8:52 AM

I hated school, and the first semester in college was boring, but I actually grew fond of it. Probably because I'm actually starting to make some friends.

Doubly pissed >:( >:( Aisu will punish you with Ice Magic for being free while Aisu suffers with high school.

Nathan September 1st, 2014 11:21 AM

I just have this year then another one and I'm done for good with high school. And it's uni for my Computer Science program <3

maccrash September 1st, 2014 11:31 AM

school's only annoying because of all the RESPONSIBILITY. I don't mind getting up a bit early and seeing my friends every day and learning (some things, I hate some subjects and love others like most students !!!) but there's too much RESPONSIBILITY and I hate RESPONSIBILITY so in turn I end up hating school.

Gabri September 1st, 2014 3:23 PM

I seem to be the only person around who actually enjoys going to school.
Maybe that's because the city I go to Uni at is where I can meet all my friends and study stuff I actually enjoy, while at my hometown in Middleofnowheristan there's nothing to be done and it's just plain boring.

Also, my classes start only on the 22nd.

Meganium September 1st, 2014 8:00 PM

I'm taking two classes this year, and I'm graduating. :) All the hard work I put through was well worth it.

Sonata September 1st, 2014 8:06 PM

I'm not actually going back to school until the spring because I just don't have any of my **** together. I actually enjoy going to school though because it's really painfully boring sitting at home and doing nothing or working. I could barely even stand the length of summer break and now it's just getting longer and longer and I'm still not doing anything.

Mark Kamill September 2nd, 2014 1:31 AM

Speaking of schools, think about this article before you ***** about the commute, be it because of traffic or laziness!

Limey-chan September 2nd, 2014 2:33 AM

Due to my hatred of children, i'm glad the school holidays are over for another year. I can now travel to work in peace and do my job in peace without having to worry about catering to someone's devilspawn or cleaning up their mess, or putting up with the screaming, crying and tantrums. Bliss.

I also tend to finish my shift right about when the sprogs start coming out of school, one of the many bonuses of finishing work mid-afternoon :D

Yeah, I also have to deal with more children on my way to work since the bus route that I take goes by an elementary school. Course it is only on my way to work.

Treecko September 2nd, 2014 7:07 AM

Children are either really awesome and cute, or they're the spawn of Satan. That's how it works. Speaking of the bus though, I go on two to get to school everyday, and it's the sketchiest place. Like the other day on one of the buses home, this woman was trying to sell DVDs of bad movies.....

Bellsprout September 2nd, 2014 10:33 AM

I'm starting courses on the 9th and I haven't been in a school like setting in about two years. I'm so nervous to meet all new people yet kind of hopeful to make new friends!!!! Idk I have a lot of mixed emotions because I'm excited to be starting the first steps to my career but I just get so nervous doing anything new. I'm just going to try to be friendly and not shy so I don't come off as a cold *****!!!

ANARCHit3cht September 2nd, 2014 10:36 AM

Ew school. I hate school. With a fiery passion. I graduated and while college is in my plans, other things came before it. Like the Navy. Medical complications have put that on hold so I guess I'll just work for now and enroll in the local JC next semester and get all that grant money :o

Started my first semester of community college, and its looking ok so far. I go every other day(MWF) and after October,i got a 2 hour break between classes. some of the students here are pretty...interesting to say the least.some of my friends from HS go here, but i haven't seen them yet :(

Hikamaru September 2nd, 2014 11:32 AM

I have not really had any success in tertiary education because I had a bully in my class two years ago and I ended up dropping out 6 months into a year-long course, and when I did get a job in packaging I ended up quitting due to me discovering I had a weakness that made it unable for me to work in groups. School education I did struggle with because I was a fairly physically rough student given I tend to feel emotionally hurt easily but near the end I did get some special roles so yeah not that bad.

Now my brother has also dropped out of school while still in Year 11, and I think his life is going downhill as a result.

I don't have a lot of problems with high school besides the obvious waking-up-at-six dilemma, however I do despise any Math class I take. Algebra I, I got lucky and passed with a C. Geometry was a ***** and I now have to take extra class out of my damn personal time to make up the credit I didn't get (because I failed thanks to that damn teacher >:( ) and at the same time have to deal with Algebra II. Woe is me.

Gabri September 2nd, 2014 4:32 PM

Waking up before 8AM should be illegal. Good thing I never had to do it that often.
I hate Algebra too - but Math isn't exactly bad. It only gets on my nerves when they almost ask you to prove that 1+1=2 through the most abstract of theorems and such crap.

And well, I didn't find High School to be much of a hassle to pass through. But it was when I got to University that I realised how little effort I had to do in High School and how easy it was compared to the course I was taking. I learned more in like two months of my first Uni year than in three years of High School.

Starry Windy September 2nd, 2014 11:16 PM

Boy, I'm waking up really really late these days, lately I'm waking up at 9 AM lol!
I think Math is quite ok, even though sometimes it's kinda complicated. Sometimes I'm wondering why it's one of the most hated subjects, though.

Apotheosis September 3rd, 2014 12:23 AM

I got to sleep in today, that was nice.

Don't talk maths please ;; Me and numbers don't go well together.

Shining Raichu September 3rd, 2014 1:29 AM

I say waking up before 9am ought to be illegal. I wake up at 8 for work and that's still too early.

Centipede Chan September 3rd, 2014 2:38 AM

I am going back to school in less than an hour soon and I got up 4 hours earlier than I had to. I don't mind though, because I am not grumpy or slow in the morning, unless I've been up all night to get lucky. Even during a vacation I wake up around 10-11 AM with no alarm.

Bellsprout September 3rd, 2014 11:40 AM

My first day off where I didn't have to get up early and go anywhere and I layed in bed till 12 amen. In other news I realize how close school is approaching and I am ready to barf my brains out.

Pendraflare September 3rd, 2014 11:45 AM

Here at college i've been tending to wake up around 8 AM, I don't even really notice it until then haha. Sometimes I tend to see that it's around 7 or so and continue to snooze.

My sleep schedule will forever be effed up. Hahaha. Today I went to bed at 3am and got up at 7am when I was supposed to be up at 5:30. I don't have class tomorrow until 11 so I probably won't get up until like 8:30 or 9, and then this weekend I probably won't get up until like 1pm. XD

Gabri September 3rd, 2014 1:28 PM

Nowadays it's hard for me to go sleep before 1-2AM. Even when I have classes. And as a result, I'm half asleep in most of the theory lessons.

Sonata September 3rd, 2014 2:34 PM

lol whats a sleep schedule

I consistently go to sleep at around 5-7 am and then wake up around 2-2:30/3 ish pm but it's not really all that consistent because I have no idea when I go to sleep on nights that I stay up watching shows or playing games, I just fall asleep sometime around advanced darkness and damn that suns bright what time is it.

I recall back when I was in high school, the school day started at 7:30 AM and ended at 2:00 PM. Course there were also 6 periods, each period lasted for 55 minutes. Now there were also two lunches, but which lunch you had depended on which teacher you had fourth period.

You know, that was the first thing I thought when I saw periods. You guys couldn't just say classes?

Four periods a day, an hour and a half each with some leeway for lunchtime. (I'm one of those get-to-class-fifteen-minutes-after-lunch-ends people.)

Miracle Seed September 4th, 2014 6:43 PM

In high school our classes when they switched to block schedule was 90 minutes a piece. We got out at 2:17

Klippy September 5th, 2014 12:30 AM

My high school started at 7:45AM. Ended at 2:30PM, or 3PM. We had 45 minute classes, a 15 minute break, and a 45-or-hour lunch.

I miss high school in some ways. I actually just visited it to pick up a transcript I needed and felt hella nostalgia and I didn't dare walk further into the building for fear of memory-lane-syndrome.

I wish my highschool would have let me do that. I went to a private high school and they wouldn't let you out early. I only had two classes that were mandatory for graduation and they made me take SIX ELECTIVES. Total boo hockey.

Sonata September 5th, 2014 2:07 PM

Our high school started at 8:15 and went until 3:30 and we had a 25 minute lunch and homeroom class. I of course had to stay the whole day because I had band first period and then there was a free class in between each of my classes that I actually needed to take but it took too long to go home and come back for me to ever leave early. Our classes were 55 minutes long and we had a 5 minute passing period between each. Second semester though I was thrown into a retread school because I did something that made it so I wasn't allowed in the actual high school anymore, so I went to school for 30 minutes to 1 hour every day and just did packet work to finish out my credits. I actually really preferred it that way and I wish I would have been given that option sooner because I could have graduated a year or so early and already been starting on college and a life.

Aisu September 5th, 2014 3:36 PM

I'm thinking of the worst thing about high school for me right now: the lunch, a.k.a. hot **** on a plate.

Sonata September 5th, 2014 4:21 PM

I would like to think we had pretty decent lunches. A lot of times I actually looked forward to eating the school lunch because they got some pretty good ****. Our cafeteria was reminiscent of a college food court. We had about 6 different lines and then people in the lobby had food stands and we had a mobile rally's outside that would sell food to students and yea. The chinese line always had something good in it because it's chinese. And then we had fried chicken, chicken fried chicken, crispitos which are little tacquitos things drenched in nacho cheese sauce which was the absolute best thing ever. And then our pizza was handmade so it was actually pretty good, and at the end of the week they made a super supreme pizza using all the ingredients left over from the week so it had like chicken, steak, jalapenos, olives, peppers, it had everything and it was delicious.

Poki September 5th, 2014 4:57 PM

We don't have a cafeteria in our school. We go eat outside during the lunch break.

I hate it when there are several hours gap between my classes. In TuTh I have 2 and half hour worth of classes but 5 hour break between each so I have to stay at the university for several hours. Not to mention the parking problems so I have to get there a bit earlier anyways.

At least I don't have to wake up at 6AM every day though... that's something that I never want to repeat.

Omicron September 6th, 2014 11:00 AM

My classes start at 7:00 AM and end at 2:30 PM. I have eight 50 minute classes, 30 minutes for lunch and two 5 minute breaks between classes.

Shining Raichu September 6th, 2014 6:44 PM

My manager's going away for 7 weeks to Europe and pretty much every staff member except me and one other guy who can only do part time has quit, so I'm probably gonna be doing 12 hours a day, 7 days a week for 7 weeks. Think of that while ya'll are whining about school.

Sirfetch’d September 7th, 2014 4:43 PM

I try my best not to complain about most things unless they affect me directly. I too can't stand it when people complain about every little detail :(

Oryx September 7th, 2014 5:10 PM

I think at some level complaining is a way of relating to people. Like most people have to get up early, so people complain about getting up early as a way to connect with everyone else that also has to get up early. It's not necessarily bad in all instances, but it can get grating.

Sirfetch’d September 7th, 2014 5:14 PM

Ha yeah I agree. Especially about the complaining about getting up early part as I have complained about that countless times! :[

This. I'm sorry if I come off as mean, but sitting on your ass all day, reading books is a dream compared to work. After 3 years of graduating high school, I honestly regret the fact that I ignored all that knowledge and what not about the world we live in, and learning almost nothing. I feel stupid sometimes, only because I can't get basic history down.

Hikamaru September 8th, 2014 8:42 AM

When I was at school, I usually had to get up really early because the schools I went to were usually out-of-area for me, and I had to be carpooled to pretty much every individual school I went to.

I usually had to go to schools for students with special needs due to me having autism. The primary school I went to was in fact specifically only for kids with autism and similar conditions.

Meganium September 8th, 2014 8:45 AM

I've been complaining about school since my semester started, primarily because I'm too impatient to finish.

Sonata September 8th, 2014 9:22 AM

I woke up about 15 minutes before school started and drove on my moped every day from first day of freshman year to graduation day. I don't wake up early. Mornings are the devil.

Oryx September 8th, 2014 11:24 AM

Even though I don't shower I still need 45-60 minutes to get ready in the mornings. I inadvertently cut it down when I started worked to like 35 but I feel rushed and I just realized why. I had my alarm for 6:30 planning to leave at 7:30 but I leave 7:05-7:10 now. Maybe I need to wake up earlier.

seeker September 8th, 2014 11:51 AM

University would be so much easier if I never had to wake up before 11AM, I feel.

Oryx September 8th, 2014 12:28 PM

They've done studies that show that young people actually are less productive when you wake them up early, even if they try to sleep earlier, because their bodies are wired to stay up later no matter what so they get chronic sleep deprivation.

So agreed. It's always difficult for me to go to class before 9AM regardless of how much sleep I got. I used to go to bed around 8PM to wake for an early class but even with 10 hours of sleep I was very exhausted at school. Because 6:50AM class, no way no how.

7:30 am was the earliest class I've taken before but a 6 am class awwww helll naw I pass. xD

8:30 AM was the earliest time I've ever had classes. It was torturously (is this even a valid word?) painful and I don't want to have those ever again. Having classes at 9:30 (the most common in my recent school years) is hard enough and I already have to struggle to keep myself awake. Also the only reason why I drink coffee.

I've never been one to sleep in. My wake up window is 6:30 - 9, and I just wake up when "I'm ready". Once I'm up, I'm up. Can't go back to sleep.

I don't use an alarm. If I know I have to be somewhere, I tend to be able to wake up in time. I am up on weekdays without a prompt at 6:30 everyday.

I can stay up later, I'll still be up at the same time. On weekends, I'll go to sleep between 2 - 3:30 and I'll still be up during my usual window.

God I wish I had that ability especially during school days. It takes me at least 5 tries to wake up and even when I get out of bed I'm not "awake" for hours haha. I guess I can blame my awful sleep schedule for that problem though...

Same here. Since I was 17, I could wake up in a certain time window no problem. Still didn't stop me from using an alarm at 4 in the morning though, I needed something to wake me up for work. If I was even sleeping at that time. God, going to open a store drunk(especially your parents)was the stupidest thing I ever did. Why did I ever go that far?

I'm going to have trouble waking up tomorrow. I've been up for almost 2 days with no sleep and I know I will regret it when morning comes. crying irl

Oryx September 9th, 2014 7:26 PM

I feel so weird, like I should sleep but also I might not feel well and I'm half not tired. It's a very strange feeling. I think I feel stressed, like I'm forgetting something, but I know I'm not.

One good thing about working, I don't have to remember things to do outside of work for my job. No homework!

I guess I must put a reminder to myself to sleep much earlier. Even though sometimes I sleep at 10-11 PM, for weird reason I'm still up until 2-3 AM. I'm so late at sleeping :(

And I missed my first work, when I was typing MS Word and stuffs.

I know! It's so nice. Once you're home, you're home. Weekends... no studying or anything. It is bizarre

It's different in my case. Even though there are almost nothing to do when I'm home, I still have homework to do because I still have some private lessons like Mandarin courses in every Monday. Plus I'm having something to do somewhere, in weekends.
