Im just going to add in Alan Ford. The only comics I've ever been reading were Garfield and Alan Ford.
Garfield was so fun, you dont need to think, you just laugh.

Alan Ford has an atmosphere which I love. It's all about mystery, cold weather and New York.

I feel rather young not knowing much about comic strips, actually... maybe it's for the best.

I think a American culture and it's preoccupation with doing things "your way" and that way always involving the shortest path possible has led to the downfall of a lot of long-standing hallmarks of the culture itself. Manga is a testament that visual novels are not dead, and that points the finger to us as to why no one hear reads much anymore. Nothing sublime about a book, so let's just watch TV. I have a feeling this thing wasn't set up for success... maybe having a revolutionary war as a means to found a country from nothing wasn't such a good idea.

Unfortunately, that's what retailers are turning it into, and people (us) are buying it.

I'm kind of late on this but I can play Linus and Lucy on piano and I do it a lot this time of year. I looooove that song. such nostalgia.

watching the cartoons again now they kind of suck but again there's a lot of warm fuzzy feelings associated with 'em so I still watch them.

Hikamaru December 6th, 2014 9:35 AM

Talking about Peanuts ay?

I apparently noticed Brendino changed his avatar to a pic of Charlie Brown and Linus. That is like definitely coincidental hahahahaha. But aside from that, I remember watching a bit of the old cartoon and it was alright but the one I always found adorable was cute dog Snoopy.

Kura December 7th, 2014 2:28 AM

Never been a huge fan of peanuts myself.. but my aunt absolutely loves it! I give her Charlie-brown inspired gifts from time to time when I see something quirky I think she'd love.

I tend to find I do give a LOT during christmastime and in general to others.. I enjoy surprising people with a little something and I love sharing my thoughtfulness of others with them even if there's not an occasion. *shrug* Sometimes people just need that little pick me up and to be able to give that to them is meaningful imo..

So can you clone yourself and send some of you around the world? Thanks.

Zeffy December 7th, 2014 4:24 AM

^ that sounds genuinely creepy lmao

Alexander Nicholi December 7th, 2014 4:31 AM

No, I don't think it's as much of that, really.

I don't do Christmas, but then again I do. Really though, if I care about you and can provide a gift for some need or honest want, expect it. If you don't receive something it likely means we're not close enough, or I'm broke.

...I'm really trying to tackle that last thing too, lol. I really want to be a generous person but I can't make things happen as often as I'd like... <<

Alright alright, let me rephrase that. We need more people like her. For no creepy reasons. For the matter of more kindness. No creepiness. now it just sounds weird thanksalot

Aisu December 7th, 2014 6:32 AM

So what do you guys have on your Christmas' lists?

Underwear. Not even joking.. I had noticed mine was getting a little bit tatty and mom likes to send something physical in the mail so I've asked her to send me some!

Other than that.. bits of random things actually! I want to get myself a black cardigan and a pedicure. Bit boring, I know.. but I'm always chilly and I haven't had a pedi in a good 4 years so I'd really look forward to one.

Forgetting what else I want, really.. I am thinking more about what to get other people than myself..

Sonata December 7th, 2014 1:17 PM

I've asked for money. I can't really think of anything I want or need, except a 3ds and a long list of mtg cards, but I doubt I'd get either of those from anyone in my family, so money is the only thing on my list this year.

I do the same thing! I've spent sooo long trying to come up with what to get my boyfriend and mom that I get downright annoyed when they start asking me what I want. I don't care what do YOU want mom god!

I just went to a German-based market in the city and finally got my mom's gift though - a hand-crafted wooden clock from Germany :) I also got my super picky aunt some marzipan honey which is great because I loved it when I sampled it so if she gets picky and decides she doesn't want it I can eat it myself!

I'm not big on buying gifts for fellow adults outside of immediate family. I would totally want to spend time with you, have a nice meal, throw a party, whatever. Aside from contributing food or drink, or bringing a hostess gift, or something like that, I don't think much more should be part of the deal.

And even then, my parents really dislike if I get them anything. They say they feel more than capable of buying something for themselves -__-

Extended family and such, I'd get gifts for the little kiddies because that's kind of the point of the commercial part of Christmas. Otherwise, I don't understand why we do it. Nobody knows what you like better than you do.

It's not about getting you the thing you want the most. It's like when my boyfriend went to check out the new Whole Foods and came back with organic eggnog. Would I have bought it for myself if I was there? Probably not. But it warmed my heart that he was shopping, saw something that made him think of me, and brought it home specifically so I could enjoy it.

I make a big point of trying to find something that people didn't even know they want, so they can be delighted with something cool that matches their tastes, what they like in gifts, and isn't just a boring "hey here's a list of everything I want, buy me something!" Gifts for kids is imo the worst part of Christmas because they don't appreciate that - that's surface-level gift giving.

I like this, but... as an every day type thing. Routinely making someone special feel special.

At Christmas, it's more like a test. And I always get crappy stuff that I return because people feel obligated to get me something.

Sir Codin December 7th, 2014 5:46 PM

I like it that people actually get you the things you wanted for christmas.

It shows they actually care enough about you to actually listen to you.

As plain as this post is, it's really true. People pretending to care won't have the slightest clue what you'd like for a holiday.

My aunt sent me some cookies yesterday, and they taste like grease and cane sugar... and nothing else. I can't eat them. :x

I actually ended up taking a new SSD, collector's edition CD for Age of Empires, a new flash drive for my keychain, and a book called the Teenager's Guide to the Real World by Marshall Brain from my mother while she wasn't looking. I think that last thing will bring in whatever understanding I don't have, but honestly the overview on the website bulleted a lot of things I had recently come to discover. I'm going to devour that book. As far as the money for the things go, all things considered with shipping and all it was less than $150, but regardless she's angry about it because on Friday we went shopping for stupid **** we didn't need and her credit card declined. As it turns out she was borrowing more money anyway so it didn't matter. I really don't care as long as our bills aren't going unpaid, and I know when all of those hit. :/

Yeah it only applies if people take gift-giving seriously, like I do. Part of the reason I'm twisting myself in knots over what to get my boyfriend is because I've already given him gifts related to all of his hobbies and just giving him another repeat gift that's similar to an old one isn't delightful like I want, so I need to find something new.

Alexander Nicholi December 7th, 2014 9:13 PM

I hate gifts that don't count. It's important to me that I give gifts that will be both meaningful and purposeful, and aren't something the receiver would ever consider throwing away. As I like receiving gifts like that, I'm going to do that as an example for others when they buy from me. Unfortunately I'm not in a position to either give or receive gifts that aren't more than gestures (if I can give or get gifts at all)... what I'd like to do is, each Christmas of mine have some money set aside to bump all of PC's regulars with gold/crystal supportership. I think that would be nice.

I just found the perfect song about hipsters.

How many hipsters does it take to change a lightbulb?

Answer: It's an obscure number. You've probably never heard of it.

Shining Raichu December 8th, 2014 3:48 AM

I love gift shopping at Christmas time. It's the best feeling going to a store and spending a ton of money on something societally sanctioned. I just love spending money in general so this gives me a reason to do it.

My gifts aren't thoughtful though, I end up getting gift cards for half the people because I'm really bad at predicting what they'd like, and my philosophy for problem solving is "throw some money on it"

Okay is it me, or are they ironically mocking the hipster fad by making an albino blacksheep flash song on youtube, in 2014? Cause I dunno if it makes it worse, or effing amazing.

Anyway, I have no money to buy gifts for others, just for me. Some of the early christmas presents so far:
