No. Nonono. The free version is so

oh wait it's probably bearable on a computer. But on a phone, free spotify is a nightmare. 1) ads. 2) only shuffle which is something I could roll with if not for 3) suddenly they throw random "new" music at you just because. Music that isn't even on your playlist. It is so annoying that I started paying for Premium again after a mere week without it or so.

Spotify Premium is amazing though. Listen offline to save mobile data <3

PC Live is just the IRC, but largely it's just a ghost town now after it died down from the promotional... like it's always been. #bulbagarden is a lot more active from what I can tell, and is really friendly and all. It's also on the SystemNet Network.

Hikamaru December 20th, 2014 6:23 PM

I never got on live chatrooms... my computer just hates Java connections which explains all that.

TRIFORCE89 December 20th, 2014 7:28 PM

I was in the PC IRC a fair bit earlier in the year. I'd like to get back into there. I don't use IRC for anything else though, so I never bothered with a client - in-browser only. I switched from Firefox to Chrome and I can't login with the PC app :( So, yeah. I can't get in anymore

Except you don't really need Java to go on IRC. There are actual IRC clients like HexChat and mIRC that are not Java-based and provide the same level of access as the web chats. Also services like mibbit don't require Java at all, and mibbit is a web environment; no download needed.

Also, technically speaking, the Pokémon Showdown server chats are live chatrooms.

Morkula December 20th, 2014 9:16 PM

I never really saw the point of IRC, no matter how many times I tried to get into it. Skype is just so much more convenient and you can decide who you talk to rather than being in a public chatroom.

Oryx December 20th, 2014 9:19 PM

I like the public nature of it a lot; it means that I never know who I'm going to run into. :) I was so shocked when I got on IRC the first time and saw that mods and admins were just there to chat with. I never would have been brave enough to contact them directly.

Her December 20th, 2014 9:35 PM

i never understood why people were afraid of talking to staff in a conversational nature

bear in mind i have like 3 pages of infractions so i suppose i'm quite familiar with most of them

£ December 21st, 2014 1:24 AM

everyone knows that they're on a higher plane of existence and can summon a plague of frogs on your doorstep if they so choose!

but I think the stigma mostly comes from maybe giving too much weight to a position of authority on a forum?

Guardian December 21st, 2014 4:10 AM

Like Oryx, I like it cos of it's public nature. It's like DCC threads, but discussion goes a lot faster, which I prefer.

I'm flying to South Korea very soon now! Next thing I'm probably going to do is to post again once I'm there.

Be seeing you guys very soon!

Staff are thirsty for interaction.

She said, generalizing heavily.

Dead.

But yeah there's no point in avoiding staff members. If any person believes that they have higher authority or importance over someone simply because they are a staff member on a Pokémon forum, there is something distinctly wrong with their brain. PC staff are just people with regular jobs and lives who escape boredom by attempting to enjoy a forum and improve other people's enjoyment on it also.

Her December 21st, 2014 7:03 AM

i was such a lovely member way back when

maccrash December 21st, 2014 7:05 AM

being scared to talk to staff because they're staff is the goofiest thing of all time to me. I Fail To Understand.

You guys are all correct.

I recall when I used to be intimidated by staff members, but now I actually don't have as much issues interacting with them these days. They're just like any old member but with a teeny bit extra responsibility than their non-staff counterparts.

If I was looking at this from a staff perspective, I'd definitely not try and come off as "intimidating" because that's so not my nature. I like to make sure my fellow PCers are actually having fun and enjoying being part of this community!

seeker December 21st, 2014 7:10 AM

It tends to be younger people I guess. When I first joined, PC was my first forum and I felt intimidated by people who had wider knowledge of how things work. I didn't want to overstep myself or see any confrontation.

Now I couldn't care less. I've met the staff I was "afraid" of IRL. I was a silly kid.

Her December 21st, 2014 7:13 AM

ok but was there anyone not scared of geoff at least once

Not anyone that I know of. I barely interact with most h-staff which is weird, in fact when it comes to regularly chatting to staff I seem to find myself speaking to regular mods much more often than h-staff.

Judge Mandolore Shepard December 21st, 2014 7:43 AM

I have no problem interacting with forum staff since I have years of experience. In fact the only time I felt nervous about interacting with any forum staff was back when I first joined an incarnation of Super Skarmory Forums back in 2009.

seeker December 21st, 2014 7:54 AM

Meh, some people actively try to use their position to scare people I've noticed. On forums and social media that has hierarchy in general. It's a bit embarrassing.

I'm glad you're not afraid of me anymore, kiddo.

No wait, I meant the other way around. Or?

Guardian December 21st, 2014 8:08 AM

It's also not that surprising though. That is how some people feed/boost their ego.
It's all about how much people around will care and if they will let them behave that way.

Yeah you're right, anyone who actually cares about these things has their priories out of whack.

Exactly, and it's the same problem with both those who are abusing their position and those who are naively falling under someone's influence for all wrong reasons.
