First Pokemon Demo
Recently, it was announced that there would be a demo for Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. This is the first time that I am aware of such a thing being released for a main series Pokemon game. So, what do you think the stand alone story will be like? What Pokemon do you think you'll be able to catch? And just what is the mysterious new mega Pokemon that will be obtainable and importable into the retail versions of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire?
http://www.pokemonrubysapphire.com/en-us/cool-features/special-demo-version Given the convenient inclusion of the Space Center, it seems possible that the new mega might be related to space. There are a handful of Pokemon that this could be, but the notable ones are Clefable and Deoxys. It doesn't seem at all farfetched that they would give a Pokemon modeled after DNA the next step of Pokemon transformation, and the fact that it originates from space could place it in the course of the demo. But honestly, that seems like a stretch to me. Clefable would be a cool one to though, especially since it was originally the flagship Pokemon family before Pikachu replaced it. 23 September Staff edit: Update #1 25 October Staff edit: DO NOT ASK FOR DEMO CODES IN THIS THREAD. |

I have a feeling the demo will be closer to Emerald in terms of some elements. The Mega could even belong to Rayquaza...I want it go get a Primal though. I hope that our starter will have their Mega stone, and that we can evolve them. That way we can see which stats they are best at to get the right nature and so on. |
Wait, the first demo? Ruby and Sapphire had a demo back in '02 at store kiosks, and so did Diamond and Pearl before their debut. This is the first downloadable demo we're getting though, and the first one to let us transfer a Pokemon to our actual cartridge since that elusive shadow Metang event in Colosseum's demo. Needless to say, I'm super excited. I would normally guess we're getting a Beldum/Metagross from Steven if not for the shiny Beldum event, and I don't think it'll be a legendary. I'm going to go out on a limb and hope for Mega Starmie. It has some connections to space and isn't doing too hot in the XY metagame.
And what's that bit about the bonus for playing everyday? I can't wait to find out! |
Okay first off, the images of Mossdeep on the website look so amazing. Hoenn really does look great in the XY overworld graphics. My favorite is this one, you can even see the water from the ledge!
I was wondering why Mossdeep City. It could be because it has specific elements that they wanted to show off, like the overworld, or maybe because the sideplot just has something to do with the Space Center. I think maybe assuming there is going to be a Mega Evolution might be a little too far, however, maybe the Space Center was chosen to reveal something deliberately. |
I'm thrilled that they decided to give us early access to the game, especially ot being restricted to just one specific country. I'm expecting to complete a small storyline in which you are rewarded with a Mega Stone of a new unannounced Mega Evolution Pokemon which can then be transferred to the games the following month.
|
Does anyone know if there will be a demo release for Europe? Definitely getting this if it does come to Europe! Also, PLEASE let it be to people with Nintendo IDs like the Super Mario Deluxe game code for free!
|
I hope it is the original Mew. I have seen it in space before either on a movie or on a video game.

I was sure I posted here. Seems that I have a bad case of amnesia or something.
Does anybody now when the demo will be released? As far I am concerned -and as previously mentioned- no demo was ever released for Pokemon. I can't even think until which point we will be allowed to play. Moreover usually demos do not have any funcionality that might enable you to send the demo save-data to an actual game. Let's say you train a Pokemon during the demo... then that's a Pokemon you know you're not getting back. Someone correct me if I'm wrong please :) |
Quote:
I'd be delighted to play the demo! I'd be nervous that it'll have some kind of a "buy this game and get the code!" clause. That would be terrible.... |
Quote:
"Holy S***! That Mega Milotic is Beautiful!" Hmm, so I am hoping for an oceanic scenery for the mega reveal, but it seems like they would take this time to reveal a legendary pokemon, so perhaps you right about Deoxys, or even Jirachi in relation to the Space Center. |

Maybe it has something to do with that white stone in Mossdeep. It could be the monolith linked to Mega Evolution that is going to appear in the upcoming Mega special (if they add it into the games, which is possible). |
Now I am super exited now that I know there will be another secret mega evolution >~<
But seriously it's probably gonna slow down the eShop for some people like I heard the Smash Bros. Demo did(unless platinum members get an even earlier access code). |
It is indeed intriguing. I wonder if the mega is even going to be the same for every person's demo...? Probably will be, though.

It may be also that the Magma/Aqua admins use megas for the demo too, so while we may well be getting a stone to transfer over, they may use megas of their own that we'd have to battle against.

It would be good if you got a little place in space that you can go to that would be cool but don't see that heppening

Guys I didn't quite understand how to get the games code . Do I need to actually go to the stores in order to get it or I can have it via the network or any other way ?

Can't wait for the full game!!!!!!!!!! ;p
|
I know right? Me either. :) I can't wait to see it in full 3D. Ruby and Sapphire were one of my favorite Generations.
|
wait so i will be able to get the demo code without having to go to the store?
i didnt quiet understand how this works hehe ^^ |
So if you are part of all the databases in the UK you'll get multiple codes? If so I'm going to be rolling in them :P
|
Ugh why can't they just put the demo up on the eshop to be downloaded by anyone easily, instead of all this jumping through hoops nonsense. At least it seems more reasonable than the Smash Bros demo
Anyway, how do I get myself in these UK databases? |
I guess the NA will need you to go to Gamestop or EBGames as always. And how are you getting a code from amazon ?
|
Seems most of the ways for Europe to get the Demo are to attend conventions, or buy magazines/have a subscription: Edit @ 09:10: They have also revealed details on the demo in Europe, coming in various areas on October 15th. The Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire Special Demo Version will be available in the UK from GAME, Amazon, Smyth Toys Superstores, ShopTo and the Nintendo UK Official Store from the 15th October until launch. The codes will then also be made available through a number of other partners including Wikia, Bin Weevils and Nintendo Life until mid-November. Edit @ 09:25: The Netherlands has announced that you can get the demo at their firstlook event on October 11th/12th, or at their autumn tour Edit @ 11:20: Italian details have been revealed. You can get the demo in Topolino and Il Giornalino magazine, end of October, and in Focus Junior magazine, in early November., during the Nintendolandia Tour (October 18th / December 14th in the main Italian malls), during Milan Games Week, from October 24th to October 26th at Fieramilanocity & at Nintendo stand in G come Giocare, from November 21st to November 23rd at Fieramilanocity. Switzerland will receive the demo at the Swiss Toy Fair from October 1st to October 5th, but the codes for the demo cannot be redeemed until October 15th (Source: Serebii) Thus far we also know Japan can get their's from Corocoro. I sure hope that it'll be easier in America. Like going to Gamestop to get the code. |

I knew it would be around mid October but I'll definitely be going down to my local GAME store on that day. (:

And I wanted to just buy the game on eShop since I had to pre-order Smash Bros Wii U so I could have something to play meanwhile, just like I will do with Bayonetta 2 and Fantasy Life.

I wonder what the name of the Demo will be, as it sounds like it'll only be one instead of two demos.
|
I hear anybody attending MCM Comic Con London next month can also get a code.
|
I don't know if I like the fact that they're giving a demo out. Hopefully, it plays out in their favor and more buy the game because of it.
|
Kinda annoying how they're not just putting it up on the e-shop. I wonder how the 'play every day' reward will work if everyone is getting it at slightly different times? Will it be everyday after release, or maybe even every day after the demo has been downloaded? Hopefully in the US/Australia the demo code will be available from Gamespot/EB, I don't wanna go to too much trouble just for a demo version.
|
Well the Demo may have more in it then you think. They want to reward people who play it everyday right, it wouldnt make any sense unless they planned on having a pretty big chunk in the game for us all to play, otherwise that would make the whole "Play Everyday" Reward thing pointless.
|
It seems I will be missing a lot for not having the demo. I can't really get the code from where I am if I need to go to a store for it.
|
Well 20 days until the demo comes out. I hope we hear some news about the North American and Australian releases. Strangely these two places have gotten news about pre-order bonuses and the demo later than Japan and Europe...
|
Quote:
IMO they should just distribute it worldwide via E-Shop, it's simple and modern. |
Quote:
I really want the demo to be available in the E-Shop so I could get my hands on 'em. ^^ |
I'm sure people will get extra codes. I'll get a few if I can and I'll be happy to share here with you all!

It seems like South Africa's demo will see limited distribution, being given to those who go get it first. I hope we in the states can get it through wi-fi (like an automatic download) or through the e-shop. I'm fine with Game Stop and Nintendo Zone too though, just a little annoying to go somewhere to get a demo. |
I prefer Nintendo Zone to Game Stop.
|
If Amazon is giving out codes, it's likely that they are going to be emailing them out since that is what they did with the Hyrule Warriors demo codes :)
I don't know if I'm going to be bothering with the demo or not, I mean, I'm really excited for the game but I think I would like to save my excitement for the real thing! |
I'm on board with the eshop demo crowd. The fact that this is distributed with specific retailers using codes is pretty silly. We're not in 2002 anymore
|
Here's the info for the Australians waiting for when theirs will be distributed:

I'm super excited for this demo.
|
Still no news on NA's demo codes...wonder if we may get it later than the 15th...maybe the 22nd...
Well half a month until the demo, I am starting to hope it won't be another smash bros code for us in NA. |
Quote:
Yeah I agree im seriously hoping they announce the demo soon for USA or maybe they won't even bother with us :( which I don't want to happen! |
Nintendo simply don't like North America with pokemon. This year we have the lowest amount of events compared to Europe, Japan, and other countries. (Worlds ones don't count) Then when we do have events the rest of the world gets them. When Japan has events they are exclusive to over there only. Then they still haven't informed us about the demo but every where else in the world they have.
|
Quote:
However, a delay for us is possible. Europe got a delay in the full version, so maybe we'll get one for the Demo... |
Quote:
Honestly I don't care if we don't get the demo I'm just happy we are getting the best generation of pokemon :) |
Quote:
Well seems we in the Americas are the only ones left now that south Korea has already gotten their method. |

Emerald was the best game of gen 3 (well of all time imo) indeed xD.
I wonder if tomorrow they'll release anything about the Demo. Perhaps even hinting or even revealing the Mega that is beleived to be introduced in it. Man I pray we get confirmation on the demo here in the USA soon I just can't wait to play it!!

Meanwhile Europe get's a one week delay, so only Asia and Australia have nothing to complain about to GF at the moment xD.
I hope they don't spoil the demo tomorrow... |
Does anyone know how to get this from amazon uk?It said they distribute it to fans.

US still has no information? Wow.
I live in the Netherlands, and there are 2 dumb ways to receive a code; 1. Go to a paid Game event 2. Get a code from Nintendo Tour which doesn't even comes close to where I love. what I did was go to the Nintendo site of Norway and claim a code. It's pretty low I take away a claim for a a citizen of Norway, but I'm just dying to get a code. |

Japan got a new update on another way to get a demo. Anyway if it's gamestop or amazon for me I will not get the demo since I will get the game from the eShop since the preorder is not worth it. Nintendo Zone would be great tho.
|
Ugh, looks like I will have to trade an arm and a leg for a demo code, if it's not being distributed via the eShop.
Hmm, I have not pre-ordered yet from Amazon, since no bonuses were announced. If they are giving out a code, I just might pre-order. I hope they announce it before hand so I can get my pre-order in. |
I am hoping it'll be by Nintendo zone and Gamestop, as last time I pre-ordered Y, and it came a day to two days late.
|
Idk its kinda stupid to start in mosdeep i rather not be spoiled and start it the right way the old way i really rather it not even come out ill be happy when the full game comes out thougn
|
Well it's a demo only storyline, plus there's not much to spoil anyways considering these are remakes xD.

hopefully getting it on eshop
|
Well the Demo codes have already run out in some countries...so I hope that there'll be more events to get the Demo later on just in case, or even for them to put it in the eshop.
|
Luckily I got a code from Norway in time. If it doesn't work on my 3DS I'll probably just visit one of those Nintendo events in my own country, even though I have to travel 2 hours for one.
|
Is there special you get from the demo that you won't be able to get in the main game? Didn't get a code/don't know how :(
|
Quote:
They mentioned something about a Mega, so we may get a Demo exclusive Mega...maybe Mega Jirachi... |
Quote:
|
Quote:
The demo will most certainly be region-locked, so everyone outside of Europe who got the code from a Scandinavian country will not be able to play the demo. But since you're from Europe, you can freely play the demo with no issues at all. |
Anyone have any clue if Smyths of Ireland will be sending out demo codes like the U.k store is doing?
|
Quote:
I don't really feel like traveling for a code, so I just gave it a shot. God bless Studenten-OV in case I did need to travel tho ;) |
Ugh, well Spain is announced for the demo, but NA is still waiting -_-
|
Quote:
And we're 4 days away from the Demo too...maybe us in NA will get a universal code given out when the official site update :3. Or maybe our Global Link accounts will have one show up. It'll be easier than all of the other countries' methods to get though... |
hopefully it'll be that way for north america, it'd be so much easier to distribute via the pokemon global link
|
Quote:
-- Speaking about receiving codes, since I already would get a code from Nintendo of Norway, I can now get an extra code! Meaning I can give someone a code for the demo! If the demo isn't region locked, then I'll be giving it away to someone from the US |
chances are feeling high that Nintendo is trolling the US by announcing every other country's release date first. I feel like it's almost guaranteed that our announcement date will be Monday, Oct. 13th, giving people 2 days to get the news and scramble to the nearest Gamestop for a hopeful Oct. 15th release day.
|
Nah, Gamestop will be giving Gengar around that time. They probably are going to use the PGL or something like that for America. At least, I'm hoping they will. >.>

Any chance that they will release codes in Latin America?
|
Quote:
Edit: The official site's Latin America Version mentions the Demo too, so that is likely a yes...so practically us in Americas are the ones left waiting for the distribution methods of the Demo... 'Un' is used for the singular, and along with 'ahora es capaz de megaevolucionar' means that it's a new Mega. So we'll be seeing one new Mega. The reason I point this out is because some interpreted the English version of that phrase to potentially hint at more than one new Mega. |
