How Will You Start Your Journey?
Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are getting closer and closer, and I am so freaking excited to get and play them! :3
But I'm wondering on how will you pipz start your journeys. Will you trade yourself IV'ed and EV'ed 'mons to make your journeys easier? Will you use the shiny Beldum the moment you get it? Or will you just settle with the starter 'mons and beat the game without any outside help? This is just my opinion by the way, but for me, I'm going to just play the game without trading with anyone. That way, I can fully have fun playing the game. :3 I'm also just going to put the shiny Beldum in the PC, 'cause I think having that floating piece of metal will make the game easier. :P ...unless Wonder Trade exist, then I dunno if I can ignore the temptation. xD |
I usually play one copy using the Pokemon I catch during the game, and the other using Pokemon I traded over. I'll play through Sapphire first (since that was my game back when :P) and try to catch the same Pokemon I used in that game originally :P For Ruby, I'll probably use a team of Pokemon I've been wanting to play with, but never gotten around to it before. Pokemon I have always wanted on a team but haven't done it yet. That's kinda always how I play lol
I think what I'm going to do is pick Treeko for my starter, because of the Mega's typing. Then, I'm going to somehow get my Shiny Absol, Exitus, over there as early as I possibly can. Been waiting for these games to come out so I can finally kick major butt with him!
I MIGHT bring over a Bagon too, if I can do that. But I'm using one in Y, so I might wait until my second run in the region. |
I'm probably just going to catch a fresh bit of pokemon for my journey. There are some pokemon I would like to try out for my competitive team for ORAS. I will get Sapphire first, as that as the first game I got from the R/S/E Series.
I wont be using any help . I shall do a nuzlocke!
I'll be trading over a team I made in X all at level one. I'm not really a huge fan of the selection of Pokemon available at the start of the original games
I'm getting both on day one, and Imma Nuzlocke Omega Ruby, and then Play through Alpha Sapphire normally (AS is the one I will use as my main file)
I'll probably be just playing the games normally, and hopefully never have a nooby team again.
Super excited for these games!
I'll definitely take my time for these games, exploring every city, building and pretty much every area available. Even though we've already experienced Hoenn, it's sorta like a completely new Region being so revamped and in 3D of course. From the screenshots we've seen so far, I'm really looking forward to re-exploring Hoenn with it being a beautiful Region and what not. |
Like a lot of people have said, I'm just going to play the game vanilla style. No trading, only using the 'mons I catch, etc. I will be using my shiny Beldum as soon as I get the chance, though.
Speaking of which, living in Australia, am I eligible for the shiny Beldum? I really, reaaaally hope my region doesn't screw me out of it. :( |
I'll probably play through the main story without transferring any Pokemon from my other games, it'll make the game too easy. I want a challenge, not rush through the game with a team of lvl 100s.
I'll trade over a bunch of stuff I bred in X/Y to OR/AS and not use them until the post-game in the Battle Tower/Frontier. In other words, I'll be playing normally.
I can't even connect to the internet with my 3DS, DON'T ASK ME WHY, I just can't, so I'll have to play through the games normally, which is what I've always done. I find catching stuff more enjoyable than trading for stuff.
I'll use my starter only, and never evolve it.
So excited for the games....
I know on my fist play through, I will mainly be using my favorite Pokemon - 4 out of the 6 Pokemon I will probably trade over from my Y game (including 2 shinies) |
I'll play through using Pokemon from in-game! I'm looking forward to finding all my Hoenn favourites in glorious 3D.
I'll probably play through a second copy with Pokemon traded in from X/Y. |
Going to go what I always do whenever I play my first playthrough of a new region/set/whatever and play through it normally. I don't know whether or not I'll use my old team or build a brand new team yet but I'll figure that out when I get the game. I think I might and just tweak it a bit like using Pikachu instead of Raichu I mean--
Playing with the starters and using Pokemon in game is the way I've played most, if not all my Pokmeon games, and I don't thinking it's going to change in ORAS. I'll probably go with Mudkip, since Mega Swampert seems to have a really nice design in my opinion, but I'll probably save the Beldum, if I get it, for later for EV breeding and all that nice stuff.
There's really nothing to that you can do for competitive purposes without finishing the main storyline and have access to all the areas and whatnot, and I would love to explore the games without any form of "a stress" and just soak myself in the wonderfulness of ORAS. ;) |
I'll just play ORAS like I play all Pokemon games - start off with my starter and catch and train Pokemon along the way. I don't have access to the shiny Beldum and I can't trade, so that's out of the question.
I'm considering trading over a Drifloon just to try it out on my team, otherwise I'm just going to catch my team in-game.
I'll do a Nuzlocke Challenge. It's been a while, and it makes the game more challenging. I'll probably pick Treecko though, since I just bred a perfect Swampert. And other than that, I'll do my best... I hope I won't lose it at some point..
I'll just play it like I always do and that is play through the game normally.
I can't wait for Ruby but like most people i wont trade anything, feels better going through the game that way.
Ill play with no trading, with a Torchic :D
I'm going to play the game normally and level up everybody that I want to in order to complete the game at my own pace. As for completing the pokedex, I have a whole living pokedex of all 718 pokemon, so eventually when I beat the story, I'm going to transfer all the pokemon over to ORAS to get another nifty Gamefreak pokedex completion letter, then transfer all my pokes back to X along with Diancie =)
Catching Taillow and then sweeping the game with it.
Be afraid, Roxanne. |
I'll go through like I always do with new games; keep my starter all the way, and catch Pokémon that I think would be interesting to use. I also try to use Pokémon that I haven't used before if I can.
Speed play through like I do with every new pokemon game I get. I don't worry about EVs, IVs, or how low leveled my team is. I get to the end then worry about what I am going to do next after finishing the post-game.
I'll play it like Ash did in Hoenn, by not transfering any pokemon over until I wrap up the Pokemon League. :P And if there's a Battle Frontier, I'll use pokemon obtained from other games.
I'll just use Mudkip. I considered also using a Torchic side-by-side because its the only Hoenn fire type I like, but decided that the whole "reset for multiple starters" thing will never be my thing. I definitely will not be using the shiny Beldum. I might try to trade with someone for a Zangoose because I'll be playing Alpha Sapphire, though. |
The idea of playing Sapphire and Alpha Sapphire at the same time has been floating around in my head for a while. I'm not sure if I'll do it yet.
I'm probably going to do a regular play through with the starter being my mega and the shiny beldum not mega evolving, then doing a wonderlocke in the next play through of it.
i never got to play through the original game, so i might just go through like how i normally will with pokemon games, using my starter and training new pokemon along the way. there's some pokemon from that region i've been wanting to try out too. and maybe that shiny beldum might stay in the box for now till i can ev train it.
I have felt that I played the original way too fast, so I will take my time to enjoy the beauty of the scenery in 3D.
ill be playing like i do every other game, play through one game with only the games dex, the other with traded ones.
I'll just play through the game normally for my first time.
I'll likely be starting off my journey like I always do--as a new player. Or adventurer, if you will. Meaning, I'll be starting off with a starter Pokémon, catching anything I'm able to find, train, evolve, and try building a team off them while still travelling from place-to-place, defeating Gym Leaders and bad guys.
I will be transferring some of my Pokémon from Y version at some point, but that will be after I'm done playing through story-line and post-game. Would need them, mainly due to battling online and whatnot. |
First picking Mudkip then finding a flying type as soon as possible then maybe get a poochyena
Mudkip then Poochyena.
Then I'll trade over a Bellsprout :P |
idk I still haven't decided between torchic or treecko yet... I'm kind of waiting till the last possible week before the game comes out so I have all the information I need to create the team I'll be happy with most.
I may use the gts to get some Pokemon I want if I really need to, but I don't plan on trading anything over from other games. |

My normal style of play usually revolves around just catching the first thing that moves and seeing how far I make it that way first. The technique and style comes in after I feel safe with saying that the game is harder than X/Y |

Once the PokeDex is fully confirmed, I'm going to plan my team for the last time. :D Maybe I'll plan down to the movesets, but I'm definitely going to choose which Pokemon I'm going to use the first time. I'll also probably pick their nicknames so I have lots of time before I actually catch the 'mon to think of something, haha.
I have Preordered both. I will pick them up and start playing on November 21st along with the Officer Pokemon Game Guide that I always get with the games upon release. When I get home I will transfer every possible Pokemon I have on my Pokemon X & Pokemon Y to Pokemon Omega Ruby which Will be my main game. I always buy both games but I only choose one and play it the other version just goes into my Pokemon room with the rest of my Pokemon collection. After I have transfered all Pokemon to bank I will then transfer a Flawless IV/Perfect Nature & Ability & Ev Trained Level 100 Sceptile, Blaziken, Marshtomp, Metagross & play the game. The other two slots in my team will be HM Slaves.
I'm getting both so am thinking of doing a play through with 6 pokemon that il breed for at lvl1 (i cant be bothered to do ev/iv stuff) and another play through with purely speed based pokemon but I'm not sure whether to go with the fastest non legendary from each gen, the overall fastest non legendaries or the 6 fastest from hoenn
Also really tempted to go for a hp based non legendary team just to annoy people |
I don't care about EVs,and IV for in game.
I want an Audino on my team and have already bred a 5iv one waiting for my game. x3
I thought about having a 5iv Treecko ready but I think I'll use the one the game gives me. I might breed a Swablu as well since I want an Altaria on my team. Those are my plans but I may just go through the game without trading, haha. xD It's funner that way. |
I'll start the game twice first to get the starters (hopefully with mega stones attached) and then start it properly a third time with the remaining starter, then play through the game normally, catching whatever appeals to me (Taillow almost certainly, and maybe a Ralts as well provided it's not as insanely rare as it was in the original games...) and just taking my time with it.
I won't transfer anything at all from X until I start dex-filling, and then it'll be only for a Ditto if I don't have one and whatever I can't get in the game. I like to fill as much of a dex as I can before resorting to transferring things over. |
I'll probably send over my lvl 7 shiny Sableye, but keep everything else in game. I love my Sableyes...
I'll be playing the game normally. Every member of my team will be caught in the game. I don't intend on using the shiny Beldum either. :)
I'll probably transfer some of my favorite Pokemon over, such as my shiny Glaceon and my shiny Milotic.
Other than that I'll probably just catch Pokemon for my team. |
I'm gonna pick Mudkip and train the Beldum as well. No trading. Doing it legit.
I'll most likely do a clean run without any traded Pokemon, especially because I love Mega Sceptile and want to see it in action. I usually do trade in some powerful breeded Pokemon when I first start a remake (i.e. Platinum) but this time I'm almost definitely not going to do something along those lines.
My first play of the games will most likely just be a normal one. I'm not settled on which starter i'll go with, but I may not use the Beldum. That would be hard to train up early on and then it'd become kinda cheap.
I'm not sure yet but I want to try finishing the game without using pokemon centers and see how it works out and i will start with Treecko!
Pick Treeko, catch a Tailow and Ralts and be on my way :) that's what I did back in 2003 though I think I picked Mudkip.
The only thing I have set in stone so far is picking Mudkip for my starter and using it (I'd use the one you can get from Steven in HG/SS if I hadn't already evolved it for PokeDex purposes...oh well). At first I thought of breeding my team in X and transferring them over, but once they announced the DexNav would allow you to catch HA Pokemon in the wild I figured that would be kind of pointless. But on the other hand, most of the better Balls wont be available at least until Verdanturf, and I'd rather not be stuck with a party in standard Poke Balls the entire game...which is admittedly a small issue that I'll probably just deal with, but then I could just as easily transfer my team in and avoid the issue entirely.
I am conflicted. |
I'm starting mine with Mudkip.:D
And I don'treally think I'll want to EV train or try IV breeding so soon in the game, I just like to take my time and enjoy the plot, really! But I will do that once I beat the champion for the first time - then I'll actually start breeding pokemon! But I'm certain there will be a Ralts very soon in my team!:) |
If I'm able to transfer pokemon from X right away, I have a few perfect and shiny level 1 pokemon I want to bring over and use right away. I'm going to wait until I beat the game before I bring over all my favorite pokemon from X. Otherwise, with a heavy heart I must choose treeko over my beloved kickin' chickin'.
Il be starting mine by turning on my 3ds :)
But seriously treeko on OR and mudkip on AS, cant stand the torchic line and it was given to us in x and y, will be catching ralts because mega gallade, using beldum because metagross, everything else I'll decide as i go along |
I'll be starting with Treecko and the shiny Beldum, I'm going to try and do a run of the game with only hoenn pokemon and the exp share switched off.
Pfft. You know what I'm gonna do? Do a shiny quest! It won't be searching for IV'd and EV'd Pokemon, it'll be a hunt for the pretty baubles instead.
Although I'm pretty much sure that I won't do it 'til I get the other version, 'cause I want to enjoy Hoenn as much as I can first. One thing clear is that I'll be catching everything in the playthrough without utilizing the Pokebank or trading, like how I didn't turn on the PSS 'til I finished my Pokemon Y. Also, using the Beldum is cheap, plus I have no plans on using one anyway. |
I'm getting both games, and I'm still debating what I'm going to do with each one. I'll start with Sapphire, since that was the one I played through originally, and I'll go with Mudkip out of tradition (plus, it's my favorite gen III starter), but I'm not sure what I'll do after that. I'll probably just use the Pokemon I catch, and EV train a couple of them for the sake of doing so (even though their IVs will be awful). I'm not a huge fan of Hoenn, so part of me would like to trade in a few other Pokemon I like, but I'm not sure if that will ruin the experience of not. Beldum will probably sit in the PC because I generally like to leave event Pokemon untouched, but if it's easy to farm a couple by restarting Ruby a couple of times, I may use my Sapphire one in-game.
For Ruby, I'll probably trade in a bunch of perfect eggs bred on X to use with the game. I'm not concerned about altering the difficulty level too much or making things too easy, because Pokemon is generally inherently easy anyway. |
I think I'll use the Emerald team I planned out when I was 11 or so, it was pretty decent and I'm attached to it.
I'll probably catch a few new pokemon from the new roster available and super train them before heading to the first gym. I also might transfer over a couple of level 1-5 kalos pokemon that I already have super trained like my leafeon. I don't want this to be a complete copy from RSE. I have to change things up enough to make it feel fresh to me.
I'm going to be getting two copies of OR (one English and the other Japanese) and one copy of AS (English). I'll play all three through normally, with Mudkip as my Eng OR starter, Treecko as my AS starter and Torchic as my Jap OR starter and all with the shiny Beldum, I'll also be transferring over a level 1 Feebas to my English OR for usage in contests once it becomes a Milotic. Also I will be trying to use Gen 3 only Pokemon, with Pokemon such as Roserade and Gallade being exceptions.
Once I have finished AS, all the Pokémon on it will be moved on to my English OR and it will become my challenges copy. |
I'm going to be starting with Torchic and I'm going to bring some pokes over using the bank if I can't get them in-game or if they don't show up until I'm way too far into of the game (I'm probably going to bring a low leveled Skarmory over shortly after I start the game).
I will be starting mine off as a Nuzlocke Challenge. Still debating on what rules I will use, although the Shiny Beldum goes right to the box. I will most likely go with Mudkip, although Treeko is kind of my favorite Pokemon from the generation....
I'll probably go old school as usual and just catch my team as I go along. Every time I tried using traded pokemon in the main story, it just felt wrong for some reason :P The shiny beldum will probably be boxed away until after I beat the game, for online battles ^_^
I'm starting the game fresh. Not going to trade over any of my Pokes from Y, although I do want to use the shiny Beldum in my playthrough, since the Metagross line is one of my favorites.
I'm so excited :D |
I'm buying both, but I promised I'd let my friend borrow one of my games, so I'll be playing through Omega Ruby. When I get my Alpha Sapphire back, I'll nuzlocke that (I don't like blind nuzlockes, they just bother me).
I plan to use Sceptile, Swellow, Sharpedo, Flygon/Altaria, Exploud, and Hariyama |
My sister deleted my save file in X, so I decided to start the game fresh, much to my dismay.
Since I'm getting AS first, I'm probably going to play through that with Mudkip or Treecko and have that as my main game. When I get OR I'll use that for challenges or maybe just another playthrough.
Im probably gonna play through AS normal. Then when i get OR, ill set my favs up (growlithe, eevee (umbreon), squirtle)
Starting mine with Mudkip. I usually like to take the game and build a team without the stress of IV/EV and see how I like the flow of the team. Play with all the cool moves that are completely worthless outside of the game. Also pretty excited for the Secret Base feature. Hopefully they allow us to trade over X/Y pretty quickly, would love to finish a lot my training starting from a fresh game.
I'm trading over some breeding leftovers I may want to use. I think I will only use the treecko because I can't catch him. Otherwise, it makes the game too easy. After I finish the game , I'm defenitely going to trade everything over. I didn't know we got a shiny beldum. I guess that counts as my first shiny then (even though I might not even use it lol). Anyways, my starter will he Mudkip. I'm still trying to think of a nickname though. Hopefully I can catch sharpedo/ carvahna early as well manectric or it's pre-evo. I also really want to catch a bagon because I want a dragon type and have a Salamence learn fly.
In AS I'll be trading over some Level 1 Pokes from X for my first playthrough, then for my second I'll be doing the playthrough like normal. :D 'Prolly gonna do the same for OR.
I'll play through it like I did Emerald; no trades until I'm done with the main storyline.
The only Mon I'm going to possibly breed and trade over is Lunatone, 'cause he won't be in OR. |
I don't have any previous games to trade over so it will be just me and my starter. I will try to get a shiny Beldum. A latios/latias if I get the Eon ticket. So that's my team so far. Blaziken, Metagross & Latios/Latias. :)
I'll play through the game as I do with all my games. The normal way, I will catch pokemon, and not worry about IV's, or EV's and will catch pokemon that I want to catch. (Mawile <3)
