I'm joining this 'cause you told me to I love Nintendo. <3
Username: Poki Favorite Game Boy: Game Boy Advance, black. Favorite Game Boy Game: Pokémon, duhhhh. Answer to current topic: The Internet. I still can't get one in Bulgaria, but emulators are cool. |
Welcome to the club, Poki! You joined out of your own free will...
That's a shame, but yeah at least emulators are around for those who can't obtain the actual system. |

Favorite Game Boy: Game Boy Micro; personally haven't bought it, but still like the model. To me, it looks very simplistic and modern. Favorite Game Boy Game: Pokémon Emerald; have played it plenty of times before, all of which were enjoyable. Plus, this is the only Pokémon game that I've been inspired to do any outside task, so to speak, such as completing PokéDex (wasn't successful at it, unfortunately, but was still sort of close). As for second, it probably has to be MegaMan Battle Network 6, with Battle Network 4 being third. How did you discover the Nintendo Game Boy? My first was Game Boy Color, which was given to me as reward by parents for doing well in class. It's given me a ton of fun memories, most of which I still do remember and think about every once in a while. Second is Game Boy Advance, and third was SP. I've always wanted to get my hands on Micro, but was never able to, sadly, as I had to save money for DS and whatnot (this was about eight years ago). |
Welcome to the club Peitharchia! Hope you enjoy your stay here.
As for the Game Boy Micro, I honestly never saw the model in-person before. All my childhood spent in Toys R Us, I never even saw packaging or advertisement for it. :o It does look very sleek and I would definitely want to buy one though for my collection lol. That's cool though, that your parents rewarded you with a GBC. I had to beg my parents to buy me a GBA. xD |

Favorite Game Boy: Fuschia Gameboy Advance Favorite Game Boy Game: .... TBH, I remember far too many fondly to just pick /ONE/ Answer to current topic: How did you discover the Nintendo Game Boy? Everyone in my Kindergarten class had one, it was almost impossible to not know baout it then. XD I got mine after Kindergarten- the Fuschia Game Boy Advance! Came with... I wanna say a Dragon Tales game for GBC, a 101 Dalmations game for GBC, and Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island! Played the hell out of that. |
Welcome to the Game Boy Fanboy club BakingBluePotatoe!
I remember those days. You weren't a part of the cool kids until you had a Game Boy lmao. I rmember playing the other Super Mario Advance games, like the SMB3 port. |

Welcome to the club Banz! How old were you when you got your Game Boy?

Favorite Game Boy: Game Boy Advance Favorite Game Boy Game: Impossible to choose I got the old giant brick of a Game Boy when I was a toddler. I had it, the headphones, the battery pack that required you to be plugged into a wall. Only games I had for ages were Super Mario Land and Tetris. When I would visit my cousin or my uncle I would play their games. Played Donkey Kong '94 and Kirby's Dream Land a lot from the former, Galaga/Galaxian and Alleyway from the latter. Eventually my library expanded once I got a Game Boy Color. I was just older and knew better at that point. I'm playing a Game Boy game right now actually. A terrific hidden gem called Catrap. Really fun. Wish I had it as a kid |

Favourite Game Boy: Purple Game Boy Colour Favourite Game Boy Game: Current Topic Answer: My dad actually bought the Nintendo Game Boy Classic for Christmas one year, took the console out of the box and wrapped it up for me, and hid a ring in the box and wrapped it up for my mum. I was probably only about two years old, and I played it until the GBC came out in 1998. That's when I got my favourite Grape Purple GBc. <3 |

About 2 years lol, I really liked Pokemon. And I still do.

I really wish that Europe got Pokemon Green, and not Blue. I mean, colour-scheme wise I know it makes perfect sense, but I dunno, Green always looked so much cooler.

Now that we have a healthy number of members on board, it's time to change the topic. Next up is the discussion of ol' man Game Boy himself:
http://static.giantbomb.com/uploads/original/0/9566/392624-123950_gadget26_gameboy_b.jpg Nintendo brought handheld gaming before with the Game & Watch but really took the world by storm with their Game Boy. What are your thoughts on this magnificent beauty? Discuss~ Oh and what was your reaction when you found out about the Game Boy that survived the Gulf War? Spoiler:

I don't know to say about the GB, because when I think about it I think: "GAME BOY GAME BOY GAME BOY!!!!!" And I play it about 50% of my time.
|
I don't believe I've ever owned any classic version of Game Boy, sadly. One of my older cousins did have it, which she allowed me to try, but I wasn't exactly overly-obsessed with getting a hold of one myself. It would have been nice if I had one, but it's not much of a big deal. Though, I did eventually wound up with Game Boy Color, which is even better, and spent much time playing original GB games on it, with one being Pokémon Blue.
Would I consider buying an original Game Boy today if I had the chance? I would if I were to start a collection of sorts, but unfortunately, I'm not, so it would likely have to be a no. Well, at least for now. Seen a few un-boxed ones on Amazon some time ago (or was it eBay?), and they seemed to be pretty expensive, considering how rare they are and whatnot. I wasn't able to find used ones, though. |

Favorite Game Boy: Original Game Boy/Game Boy SP (light blue color); hard for me to choose, to be honest Favorite Game Boy Game: both Golden Sun games Answer to current topic: 1. my first one was the original block, but in yellow (when I was 5 or something) bundled with Kirby's Dreamland 2. that was kind of expected. I'd say there is a 50% chance: they either die a couple of months after you buy them, because of some loose connections (my first one...), or you'd be able to break walls without even leaving a scratch on them. Last time I used one of these bricks was a couple of months ago. I beat the final boss of Mystic Quest/Mystic Quest Advanture/Seiken Densetsu (whatever you wanna call it), just for the fun of using the original Game Boy again. You know they work, because you can HEAR them work. xD |

Yeah my brother has the old brick of a Game Boy and I really want to dust it off and give it another go just for nostalgic purposes. I can't believe how sturdy they are. Actually I can lol. |

Favorite Game Boy: The blue transparent Game Boy Advance Favorite Game Boy Game: Pokémon Emerald Reaction to Gulf War Game Boy? Wow, and the 3DS breaks when I drop it from a foot off the ground. :| |
What was your reaction when you found out about the Game Boy that survived the Gulf War?
Speaking of that, I recently went to New York... and I had the privilege of seeing it in PERSON at the Nintendo World Store! Oh. My. God. That was just... incredible! |
I would really love to see it.
|
I would really love to play on it. I mean what's it for if it's still working but you can't play a game on it?
|
I also saw it in person when my family went to Rockefeller Center to see the big christmas tree. I went inside the Nintendo center and saw it in its glass case and I was in awe lol.
|
What are your thoughts on the original Game Boy?
I'd love to own one, as I am a huge Nintendo fan who just does not have the opportunity to possess most of their gaming products. What was your reaction when you found out about the Game Boy that survived the Gulf War? "Yo, I wanna keep in my retro item-filled shelf." |

http://community.ashworthcollege.edu/servlet/JiveServlet/showImage/2-77505-14951/gameboy-color.gif What are your thoughts on the Nintendo Game Boy Color? I personally thought it was extremely cool looking and I got the kiwi (green) color one just recently. I never got a chance to own one as a kid because I was so fixated on the SNES. There's a lot of great games for the handheld too. Though I really like Pokemon Gold. |
The Game Boy Colour was rad. I had the purple one for so long I can't even remember. And the games that were released on it were groundbreakingly amazing at the time, e.g. Pokemon Gold, Silver and Crystal, the Donkey Kong games that came out for it, Yu-Gi-Oh, etc. I loved the GBC.
|
I never had my own GBC, but one if my friends had the yellow one, and I was so amazed at the colored screen. {D:}
|
What are your thoughts on the Nintendo Game Boy Color?
It's classic, and always will be. Game Boy Color is one of the consoles that set standards on how handhelds should be, I believe, and if it weren't for that, today's handheld consoles--3DS and PS Vita, for example--wouldn't have been the same, whether it be for better or worse. To develop, they have taken inspiration from things such as Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and other older handhelds. |
What are your thoughts on the Nintendo Game Boy Color?
I love how the lime green one looks, and I am going to buy one for my future GB collection once I get a job. |
The GBC was probably the one I used for the longest time. Lots of Pokemon, mostly, my GBC game library wasn't that big, though. I had this dark green one, if I recall correctly.

I'm sort of the same; reason as to why I've gotten myself most of these Game Boy consoles is because of Pokémon. It's a very lovely series, and even though some of its games could border repetition, which I find many fans to be complaining about here and there, they're still fun to play nonetheless, especially when you've got new places to explore and newer Pokémon to discover during each generation release.
Even though I did get these handhelds primarily for Pokémon titles, I still went onto try others later throughout, and wound up liking them. In a way, I could be thanking Pokémon for this! |
I remember seeing a thread like this in another section and figured I would use it as a topic here. I got the idea from the current conversation in here.
Do you consider the Game Boy to be a Pokemon machine? |
I have so many memories of playing Game Boy games and Pokemon is just a part of it. Whenever I think about these old consoles I think about playing Kirby's Dreamland (my first GB game ever), Mystic Quest (or, what it's called in America: Final Fantasy Adventure), Sonic Advance (still the only Sonic game I ever played and finished), Golden Sun (still my most favorite GB game ever), Tales of Phantasia (good graphics and fun gameplay despite being a mediocre PS1 port) and a couple more.
Sure a lot of times I played different Pokemon games, but by far not enough to define the Game Boy consoles to be Pokemon machines (as opposed to the 3DS, which, for me, is a console solely to play Pokemon). |
I did get my Game Boy Advanced console primarily for Pokémon, yes. It had Ruby and Sapphire available when I first went out to buy one, which seemed to be very promising; have seen some advertisements of these two games on television, and have been wanting to get my hands on a copy and play ever since. When I was finally able, it really excited me; have enjoyed each and every second of going through it, really!
On top of this, GBA also had support for GBC cartridges, which is great, because back then, there were a ton of Game Boy Color games that I had yet to successfully get done; this gave me a chance to keep the opportunity alive, because when purchasing a set of GBA, I traded my GBC in so that I'd be able to save some money and whatnot (it wasn't much, unfortunately, but still). Similar things apply for DS. As for 3DS, however, this is a bit of different story; I wound up getting this console for many series all-together (StarFox and Legend of Zelda would be great examples), and not solely one. |

Favorite Game Boy (you can include the colour as well): Game Boy Advance I Won for my birthday whit Pokemon Sapphire. so you know the rest. thats my favorite because i did not played the Original Game Boy or Game Boy Colour only my brother had the chance to play whit it. Favorite Game Boy Game: GBC : Pokemon Gold GBA : Super Mario Advance 4 Answer to current topic: Game Boy Colour was a better version of the Game Boy. i think it helped for next Game Boy and for me to Learn that every game was not black and white for me(TV was sh*t back then at least my to play SNES/N64 :/) |
I should join here because i really still love gameboy no matter how many upgrades they give the new systems :)
Username:Dedenne1 Favorite Game Boy (you can include the color as well): The gameboy mini pokemon edition (i want it but like new its like $300) Favorite Game Boy Game: Oh wow hard..... Favorite Game Boy (you can include the color as well): The orange and green Gameboy SP Favorite Game Boy Game: Kirby's Adventure in Dreamland. There were many fun games on the GBA but this is one of the games I remember most. This was one of the first Kirby games I play, and I remember like on world 7 where you have to fight Metaknight as a boss battle, and it always astounded me every time as a little kid. I thought that as a character he was so cool for some reason. Such a fun, easy game. Answer to current topic: Some of the best Pokemon games were on the Gameboy, but I think that it would be better to see them on a console. I would rather play a game like ORAS on the Wii U than the 3DS. The Gameboy is knwon foor their Pokemon games, but awesome games like Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga, Metroid, LoZ, Golden Sun, Final Fantasy, WarioWare made leaps and bound on the gameboy. |
