Pokémon General DCC

Welcome to the Pokémon General Daily Chit-Chat thread! In this thread, you may talk freely about anything pokémon-related that comes to mind. Just try to not change topics too quickly, unless the thread has been silent for a while. Be smooth!

You can go seamlessly between subjects that would otherwise go in other sections of PokéCommunity, or compare different parts of the franchise such as the games, anime, manga, TCG and other merchandise as well as theories, funny stories and anything really - as long as it has to do with pokémon.

Remember:

- Again, this thread is for general chit-chat about Pokémon only. If you want to talk about things unrelated to Pokémon, head over to the Daily Chit-Chat thread in the General Chat section.

- If you want to focus on a certain question or topic, maybe it's better that you create your own thread than post here? Otherwise the topic might change sooner than you'd like.

- Any questions? PM Osiris! He isn't scary. At least, not that scary.

So, let's continue where we left off:

As games, things work fine. But when you try to make it more believable in another context, some things just end up being strange. That's probably why the anime is quite different from the games in some respects.

Oh, I thought we were posting our favorite obnoxiously bright shinies.

Anyway, to continue the last discussion, I found Entei in the water and wanted to take a picture of it, but then I either A. hit a button by accident and it ran away before I could or B. it did it on it's own. Can B. happen? (It was in HeartGold)

Hiatus November 23rd, 2014 9:49 PM

My favorite bright shiny is Ninetales, for sure (let's please take a moment to look; isn't it beautiful?). Metagross would definitely be second.

Hold on, what do you mean it did it on its own? When encountering Entei in water, did it run away before you've had chance to do anything at all, even hit a button? That's probably not possible. Anyhow, I've always found this to be sort of strange, really, running into fire-types while surfing (aside from Moltres, of course, as it floats in air). If they had decided to restrict certain type-group from appearing in certain places in-game, I feel it would make a lot better sense.

I definitely don't mind Suicune showing up in places like these, however, and nor Raikou. Though, I have to agree; it's probably best not to apply logic into games and whatnot to have them seem more believable in our eyes. More attention we pay to these kind of stuff, the less we'd find ourselves enjoying things, I suppose? Haha.

I swore I didn't touch any button, especially not twice, and Entei fled before I could take a picture. I didn't use any attacks or items, which would be the only way it'd run. I don't understand...but after doing it with Raikou now in HG, it didn't work at all. Well I screwed up then :P

Also Moltres hovering over water wouldn't be a great idea either. I mean, it could easily fly away, but when you encounter it, it would have to be close, therefore it could easily be hit by a Water-type pretty hard. Meh, probably overthinking, but whatever.

Did I mention Moltres is my favorite legendary bird? :P

alisaie November 24th, 2014 8:55 PM

Articuno is my favorite out of the bird trio. I've just always loved it's great long flowy tail. ♥

And I totally approve of Shiny Azumarill in the first post because that's one of my favorite shinies. And from that it's totally one of my favorite bright shinies haha.

As for logic I've given up on it when it comes to Pokemon. Probably because I watch the anime and play the games it's just better not to think too much about the logic in Pokemon because it's just an easy way to get arguments that go in circles going. And if not that it just makes my head hurt trying to make sense of everything when it's simply not possible.

MurkMire November 24th, 2014 11:09 PM

Hello, everyone!

Some things in the GAMES don't even make sense. An example would be that neither Drowzee or Hypno (favorite Psychic-types of all tiem) can't learn Dream Eater, the very move that defines them, naturally. Ever.

Has anyone else noticed that? I guess that's the beauty of the franchise, is that logic really isn't a big factor. From a boy suddenly waking up as a Kadabra, to Ash's Pikachu defeating a Rhydon simply by, "aiming at the horn."

I do love it, though. Despite the silliness.

moon November 24th, 2014 11:24 PM

I'd rather see a version of pokemon that tried to scientifically explain things, haha. Oh, that might be the reason no live action movie has been done and never will be made. It's just too illogical.

As for shinies, purple or blue ones are the best. Ponyta and Sneasel <3

Brendino November 25th, 2014 2:14 AM

Uhh... I think you closed the thread after your last post, Rika, haha.

I've got no preference for the color of shiny Pokemon, as long as it's noticeably different from its original color. That's why I like the shiny form of Azumarill, since it's a big change from the blue that everyone is used to. I wish that all shinies were like that, even if it meant that we had to have a few more bright green colored ones like Espeon and Zubat. As long as they aren't just a shade or two darker/lighter, they're fine by me.

How in Rayquaza's name did I manage that? O.o slippery keys here. Thanks for noticing lmao

Yeah, stuff like shiny Charmander or shiny Garchomp are so boring :(

Bellsprout November 25th, 2014 7:18 AM

I figure nothing live action has been made because it would be incredibly cheesy and cringe worthy for most people lol

Hiatus November 25th, 2014 6:20 PM

My favorite legendary bird of all time would have to be Zapdos, most likely. Its design suits the Pokémon pretty well (spiky feathers, fierce-looking eyes), and when it comes to battling, it's able to do some major destruction on its own. It's built to be sort of a tank, enduring ton of hits, and it also has decent Special Attack. Plus, it could also learn Roost, allowing the Pokémon to recover itself whenever it needs.

As for a live-action Pokémon film, I'm not too sure on it, haha. If they're going towards such a route, I believe they would have to up things a whole lot from their anime, and add some good portion of intensity and whatnot, similarly to how things are in Transformers and other movie series of the like.

Famon November 26th, 2014 8:10 AM

There are a lot of Fanart of Dragonite X Goodra ! But Would A Dragonite fallen love with A Goodra ??
I mean , Goodra does have a cute face and sometime it's face look like Human girl But its so Slimy !!!

Wicked3DS November 26th, 2014 3:33 PM

A live action Pokémon film should only be done in parody, and I would be okay with it. Trying to do it seriously would probably just end up being laughable anyway.

And shiny Pokémon that don't look much different are absolutely boring. My first shiny was a Poliwag and it didn't look any different at all, especially in Gold on a regular Game Boy. It disappoints me since Garchomp is one of my favorites. At least Charmander gets black Charizard :P

curiousnathan November 26th, 2014 6:31 PM

Some of my favourite shinies include:

I've actually legitmately got Shiny Reuniclus and Braivairy too <3

Famon November 27th, 2014 7:00 AM

I prefer shiny Meowstic ! It look so Majestic --

http://www.serebii.net/Shiny/XY/678-f.png
By the way , Goodra has high Special defense !
Does that mean Special attack like Hyper Beam , Thunderbolt and Ice Beam will do less Damage to it ???

Good afternoon! I'm new 'round here. I'm considering putting away money to save for a 3DS, but some part of me tells me that that's irresponsible and somebody on my tiny income and of my age should be saving for uni. I do really miss Pokémon gaming, though.

I know exactly how you feel ;; If you think it's important for you to have a 3DS and that it will give you a lot of good times, then maybe it's actually worth getting one. I got myself a new laptop instead, since I work and play at the computer a lot every day and think it's worth spending money on!

Welcome to the forums, by the way!

Welcome to the forums, by the way!

A couple friends have got together to get me a laptop for Christmas, which is good, as I currently have to use a family shared laptop. I lived with my mother when I last played Pokémon, and my father, whom I currently live with, rather disapproves of video games, and would think a 3DS and a game would be a waste of benefits. Ah, well. I'm sure a 3DS emulator will come along soon, but I'd like to have it handheld and wifi-able.

Well , I'm trying to be sure .
Since , Goodra look like a Elastic Pokemon So I was imagine move like ''Shadow Ball'' , ''Moonblast'' and ''Hyper beam'' bouncing off its body .
Any Punch or kick get slide off from Goomy's body So I hope Goodra also maintain the same ability.

3DS might be a bit too expensive, so if we don't wish, we don't necessarily have to go with one; however, I would definitely recommend picking up a set of 2DS, if we ever get the chance! It's much low and price, and does almost everything we'd find 3DS to be doing. Only thing we'd find ourselves sacrificing is ability to play in 3D, but that isn't mandatory; I don't believe it adds much when it comes to enjoying games.

I haven't been keeping up with anime for last couple of years, until few months ago; I began watching episodes of X and Y, and things seem to be quite intriguing. Although shiny Meowstic would be nice to see, there are many other Pokémon I'd also like to see appearing, with Mega-Rayquaza being one of them.

Rayquaza is more of a Hoenn Pokémon, I understand, but since it's got a mega-form and whatnot, why not take this opportunity to show it off to a wider range of fans? There are those out there who solely watch anime and don't precisely follow games, and I believe it would be nice if Mega-Rayquaza were extended to them.

You should check out the Mega Evolution special acts :P

alisaie November 27th, 2014 8:00 PM

^ this. They've been having quite a fun time showing off the megas in some way shape or form so far anime-wise! And there will certainly be more to come I'm sure.

Spoiler:
In fact there is actually a reference to the main character of the mega-evolution specials in ORAS apparently.

alolan vulpix November 28th, 2014 3:46 AM

Sorry to butt in conversation here but I thought this might be the place to ask: Is anyone else in the UK who preordered off the official nintendo store having trouble with the courier, Yodel? :L

Famon December 2nd, 2014 7:59 AM

I know Scizor can't fly But does Gliscor has to be like him ???
Now , Gliscor seem totally useless in a place without Wind .
Because its ether can't fly without wind Or walk with its shot leg.
Atleast , Scizor has suitable leg for running & walking .

Hiatus December 5th, 2014 5:43 PM

Gliscor doesn't precisely fly, but it does glide to get to places. Gliding doesn't require any sort of wind, does it? I suppose it uses its tail to get itself as high as it possibly, and then take it all from there. I'm not sure if I'm making much sense here, but I hope I am! Haha.

Pendraflare December 5th, 2014 6:51 PM

Yeah, I think Gliscor is a Pokémon that would make some sense if it were actually able to use Fly. It's even the Flyscorpio Pokémon if i'm not mistaken, that would kinda make you think it would be able to use that move. It's a bit weird though, that it learns hardly any STAB moves in the main game.

moon December 5th, 2014 11:53 PM

Some pokemon don't have it easy :( trying to train a Zubat in Color Gen... Uuurgh. Only Leech Life for ages, and bite being normal type.

I only recently realized that Scizor can't fly. Trading in freedom/flight for strength... I think I'd staty a Scyther actually.

Famon December 6th, 2014 5:47 AM

I get so mad everytime people say that Mewtwo has no chance Omegamon or Omegamon X even with its Megevolution.
And Its only because Omegamon is bigger and he has a canon & Sword .
Truth to be told , Mewtwo only need Psychic to deal with Omegamon. He can use Psychic to crash Omegamon ''Garuru Canon'' like an empty Soda can. And Omagamon trying to hit Mewtwo with ''Gray sword'' its like Wolverine (X-man) trying to hit Magneto (X-mon) with his claw .
As You Know, Wolverine never able to touch Magneto despite having more Physical strength , Speed and agility .
The Only chance Omegamon X has is ''All Delete'' Unless Mewtwo disable it.

Not to mention it apparently loses a lot of speed. It's actually more like a form change than an evolution.

Unfortunately , There is no Mege Dex that descried any other ability a Megamon get upon Megevolving.
I mean , I believe Mega Sectile can Fly if he spin his Tail and spark his Seed like ORAS Animated promo.
Think , If a Gardevoir can create small Black hole then A Mega Gardevoir should able to create big Black hole .
But there is noway to confirm.

Also , Scizor wing doesn't go though any change after Megevolving .
But As You See , Scizor's wing is pretty Big enough for flying.

Seriously , How Big Scizor's wing has to be for Flying ?
Stupid Pokemon Dungeon game!!!

Seriously , Scizor speed drop to 105 to 65 !!!
Does the Producer hate Scizor ? They put so many disadvantage on him !!!

moon December 6th, 2014 11:59 PM

Well mostly he gains defence, right? Metal armor makes him too heavy to fly and be fast.

Brendino December 7th, 2014 12:16 AM

I was going to say that if Skarmory can fly, then there's no reason that Scizor shouldn't be able to, but then I looked at their info and saw that Scizor weighs more than twice more than Skarmory (even Scyther weighs 11 lb/6 kg more). They're both roughly the same height, so it makes me wonder if Skarmory is hollow or something, or its skin/armor is just a lot lighter than one would expect.

The bones of birds irl are hollow, or so I heard, so that might really be it yeah.

Hiatus December 8th, 2014 5:38 PM

If we take its weight into account, it does make sense as to how or why Scizor is unable to fly. Speaking of which, I've always wondering how small, un-evolved Pokémon--Duduo (I hope I'm spelling it right), for example--is able to carry us while taking off and whatnot. The average weight of trainers should be more than them, I believe, at least for most part, so it's actually sort of interesting.

Wicked3DS December 8th, 2014 9:48 PM

Weight is a big concern, too much weight and it wouldn't be able to get very airborne. And I agree, how could a Pidgey or Spearow hold a trainer that's at least 4 times its weight and still fly around?

Also this is pretty relevant:

I think the reason why most Bug-types can't learn Fly might be due to the fact insects are small in real life and would be totally incapable of carrying a human despite Bug-type Pokemon tending to be huge compared to their real-world counterparts.

Wicked3DS December 10th, 2014 4:46 AM

It would be cool if there was a Bug-type big enough to use Fly since it would probably have a pretty good design. I'm kind of curious to see something like that now.

Apparently we have two 5th Gen Bug-types who can use it - Genesect and Volcarona. Ironically, they're both not Flying-types.

Oops, I forgot about Volcarona shame on me it's a beast. And Genesect doesn't even look like it can fly. But still an actual Bug/Flying-type that could would be pretty cool.

Brendino December 10th, 2014 9:07 PM

Genesect being able to fly kind of reminds me of Arceus- both seem to be capable of learning Fly just because they're legendary Pokemon. Granted, I think Genesect transforms itself in order to be able to fly, but we never see that in the games, so it still seems odd.

Famon December 11th, 2014 8:31 AM

I was watching ''Street-Fighter Assassin Fist'' and I notice that the technique call ''Hado'' is awfully similar to Aura Sphere !
Then It hit me , ''Aura'' is actually ''Ki'' in Pokemon Universe.
So It make me wonder , Does Aura-User can also shoot ''Aura Sphere'' as well .
Just think , Ash has the Ability to shoot ''Aura Sphere'' But he doesn't know how to do it !!!

Samus Aran December 11th, 2014 9:08 PM

I'm pretty sure Aura users don't use pokemon moves themselves...

Genesect reminds me of a mech, I was surprised to know that it could learn fly!

Rilley used Barrier So I pretty sure they can do that !
Specially if ''Aura'' is actually ''Ki'' .
That explain why ''Aura Sphere'' is Fighting type move since ''Ki'' is associate with Martial Arts.

Hiatus December 12th, 2014 6:03 PM

I'd never known about Volcarona being able to use Fly until now. Though, it's sort of understandable as to why others don't find themselves teaching the move to this Pokémon often; generally, it learns more special-based attacks than anything, and it seems to rely on them a lot, too, due to its above-average Special Attack stat and whatnot.

Pendraflare December 12th, 2014 7:08 PM

Volcarona is a Pokémon that to me kinda resembles the design of something you could ride on much like that of a magic carpet, it's one I get why one could use Fly on it. Besides, the good thing about it is that it's one of two Pokémon that has Flame Body + Fly (the other being Talonflame), which is very helpful in-game for hatching eggs and using the Daycare Center.

I wish there were more dragons you could take a ride on.

In that theory , Mega Sceptile should fly as well by using its Spinning Tail , Turbo Seed and light Body.

Whoops, my mistake, I was talking about generally ridable Pokemon.

Well in anime they can. But most Dragons in Pokemon have such small wings or are small themself, I dont know how could they lift themselves off the ground, let alone us on their back as well.

Lol would be funny if someone used mega stone on the Sceptile to fly on it, and then, once 500 feet above the ground, suddenly it went back to non-mega Sceptile. Bad luck.

Riding on Scolipede would be pretty cool. And flying on a Mega Sceptile would be pretty funny. Falling from the air...not so much.

Pendraflare December 13th, 2014 8:36 PM

Did someone say riding on Scolipede?

Oh my god, if that happened, whether it was flying (lol) or even just on the ground, I would do that s*** like no tomorrow. It'd be pretty sick riding a super fast despite being over 400 lbs bug like that.

Hiatus December 14th, 2014 4:47 PM

I've always wondered as to why they wouldn't allow us to ride Pokémon in-game, even though we are permitted to fly on them, which is more or less similar. We were allowed to get on the back of Gogoat and ride from here to there in X and Y, but if same were applied to some other Pokémon alongside, I feel it would be pretty great.

Riding on Pokémon would be a decent replacement for bicycle, I feel. It would be kind of difficult for them to implement over-world animations for ridable Pokémon, but if there were able to add over three-hundred OW sprites of Pokémon in HeartGold and SoulSilver (for their follow-me feature), I'm sure it won't be precisely impossible for the same to be done here, haha.

Generally, I believe riding on Pokémon would be fun and unique; it'd add more spice to travelling.

Didn't Ash ride on a Flygon in Jirachi Wish Maker? I like Flygon, though, so it'd be pretty cool to ride one imo.

Don't forget Gyarados, Lapras, Entei, Raikou, and Suicune, Wailord, Tauros, Charizard, Arcanine, etc...
There are lots of pokemon you could ride on!

Yet still, Scyther can't fly...

On the topic of riding Pokémon in game, they could also add more terrain that only a pokemon could take you through. Poison Swamps, lava, rapids that only very strong swimmers can go through (think, Gyarados, or Lapras). It would be pretty cool to see them mix it up a little!

Salzorrah December 15th, 2014 2:47 AM

Who knows we might see Gen 7 having Pokemon outside of battle :) They did break barriers in Gen 6 with the 3D conversion, so why not step it up a notch?

As for the riding Pokemon, I just laugh at lava tho :3 I'm pretty sure any sane Pokemon trainer, as immortal as they seem, can't survive in a single stretch of lava. :x

Famon December 15th, 2014 6:16 AM

Honestly , I would prefer if Ash caught a Scolipede and ride on its back .
After all , Scolipede is Big enough to carry atleast 5 people.
In the 20 year of history , Ash haven't caught any rid-able Pokemon for the land ! The only Pokemon he can ride on is Charizard (Since Laprus left).
Trainer in Unova are Stupid , They can travel the whole Unova region by Catching and riding a Scolipede instate of Walking.

When you run out of fanfic ideas, so you just start writing about your team in Omega Ruby.

Running out of fanfic ideas? Writing about your team? That's something I bet Nuzlockers would do after they've spent a lot of time with the teams they've had...

lol yeah. Or I just watch the anime too much where every main Pokemon has some insane personality. I'm literally shipping my own Pokemon.

Hunh?

Fanfic ideas? That reminds me I need to get back on wiring mine. I've been so busy I forgot about it, which is a shame since I think I had some cool ideas

I had a really cool pokemon idea going on in FF&W, but I got busy and discontinued it. Hmm, maybe something to start up again if I get the time.

Chilopodophobia is the fear of Centipedes.

Famon December 16th, 2014 10:04 AM

Hmmm , A Fanfic !
I was thinking of creating a Dark Fanfic about an Underworld Tournament where the Winner will receive a chance to meet Jirachi that will grant his 3 wish's.
Trainers receive a ''Wonder Launcher'' with mysterious Power to create a Pocket universe for 2 trainer to battle.
Ash meet various trainer with Selfish , Selfless Or Impossible wish as he participate in the tournament.

Sounds like a mix between a creepy pasta and Aladdin. I like it.

I mentioned this a while earlier in the year, but Nuzlocke fan fiction is something I think I would want to do. But I would have even more composition to take including notes and recording, and it sounds like something that would become a chore so I never really get around to doing it.

Maybe i'll attempt to draw certain members i've used before, though.

I just like giving my Pokemon personalities like some crazy cartoon or sitcom and seeing how they interact with each other. All well the trainer is partially oblivious to it.

Odyssey December 17th, 2014 9:33 AM

I've been working on a fan webcomic myself, but being the perfectionist I am, I'm double checking the plots and the characters.

It's not going to be a Nuzlocke, but a Mystery Dungeon story. The main characters are a Mienshao and a Sawk, and what's interesting about them is neither one of them was once a human. I'm working on another character that's once a human, but it's kinda tricky.

Am I the only one here who finds most Nuzlocke stories to be a little too edgy? :S

Guardian December 17th, 2014 9:42 AM

I did two pages of Pokemon comics and I think it looks pretty good i think. I have another 6 or 8 pages but cant get the time to get back to it. I will probably just draw some more.

This is my favorite hobby, really too bad I cant get more time for it, it's been more then a year till I drew the last page :/
Must get back to it, maybe now on winter break :D

If I ever make Fanfic/Manga about Pokemon Then This girl will be the Heroin--

I wrote a fanfic about the Pokemon anime in 2011. I can't link it now because that site is blocked at my school.

Lol that's cool.

I suck at drawing humans (while I think Im decent+ at drawing everything else, especially animals, I think), so I still dont know how the story is going to develop.

Wanted to share a bit of an odd Pokémon dream I had last night. (Posting this in General and Gaming DCCs)

I was playing a game that looked like it was between Gen I and Gen II. I'm about to cross some lava and apparently I needed to use Fly to successfully cross. None of my Pokémon can learn Fly except Nidoking (what the heck), so I go to teach it and instead of asking me what move to delete, it just bumps the first move away and teaches it Fly (think the way they learn moves in the day care). Very odd how that worked. Clearly my subconscious doesn't know how Pokémon works.

Ooooor, it's showing you how you want it to work?

Because lets face it, flying Nidoking? Who wouldn't want that?

Odyssey December 17th, 2014 6:06 PM

Heh, Flying Nidoking. That's pretty cool. x)

My dreams about Pokémon are pretty weird. I remember one dream where I went to a superstore and the only thing they're selling is Emolga merchandise. Their choices of merch were pretty weird. They were selling Emolga piñatas, plushies, pillows, figures, clothing and whatnot. Then a few minutes later, some guy tried to steal everything in this Emolga store, only to be arrested. The same dream happened two times, except they were selling Gliscor merch instead.

I actually once dreamed the same thing, but it was all replaced with Oshawott instead. I often found myself hugging a plushie and even making a cute hoodie based on Oshawott. Trust me, Pokemon dreams become so weird at times hahahahaha.

Judge Mandolore Shepard December 17th, 2014 6:41 PM

When comes to Pokemon, I don't think I ever dream about it. Course I bet it would be very weird if I did start dreaming about Pokemon.

ChikoritaCheezits December 17th, 2014 8:07 PM

I used to have dreams about Pokemon when I was younger. They would mostly be about the anime.

moon December 18th, 2014 1:56 AM

I think I've only dreamed of these forums, when it comes to pokemon xD after an especially lazy day with excessive posting, I guess.

Hiatus December 18th, 2014 5:18 AM

The only game-related dream I've had, if I recall, was about few months ago, in which I was at picnic with couple of my friends. There, I found myself playing through Emerald version on my phone via an emulator. I can't remember which part I was at, though, unfortunately.

As for other aspects, I've dreamed of this forum once, and in this one, I was checking on reports and VMs before heading off outside, like I always do during weekdays. It was rather boring, haha. Would've been cool if something more exciting were there.

I also had a dream about My Pokemon Gold version game that I played on my Cellphone using ''Real Me'' app .
In The Dream , A Monster was attacking me and I suddenly able to call upon my Feraligatr from my Cellphone to fight that monster.
My Cellphone suddenly got a new app to call Upon Pokemon I caught in the Game in Real world to fight for me.
Just think , I can call Upon Lugia using my Cellphone ! Unfortunatly I can use call Upon Pokemon from Gen I & II .
But That were Just a dream.

By the Way , Isn't Heracross's Speed is Only 85 ? Isn't that Kind of Slow ?
But , In the Glf Heracross's Speed seem to reach the Speed of Light/Sound --

https://31.media.tumblr.com/4902238ba77a82d7da5d0f6ddf71406e/tumblr_ngqsh7xHGH1tai552o1_400.gif

Odyssey December 18th, 2014 6:49 AM

I always thought that 85 is a little too fast for a Heracross. This GIF is a special move for Fighting type Pokémon, by the way. You can only find that move in Contests, though.

Speaking of speed, I was actually working on a little theory on how fast a Pokémon's Speed would be in real life. After using the Eon Flute numerous times, I always like to think that is how fast Mega Latias/Latios can really fly. From what I gathered, a Pokémon with a base stat of 110 is very fast in real life. I need to show you guys this theory when I finish it. :o

Pendraflare December 18th, 2014 6:12 PM

Well, Heracross is just as fast as Pinsir (its sort of counterpart), so i'm not too opposed to them having the same speed. But if I were to oppose which one seems like one that would be faster, it'd probably be Heracross.

Although that is a sick looking contest move :o

Wicked3DS December 19th, 2014 4:40 AM

I think Heracross would definitely be faster given it has wings and it honestly just looks more built for speed than Pinsir. Pinsir doesn't strike me as being a really fast Pokémon.

Guardian December 19th, 2014 5:12 AM

To be honest, I cant even imagine Pinsir running.

Odyssey December 19th, 2014 6:22 AM

I could see Pinsir being faster when it is a Mega Pokémon, but it sure seems sluggish without it.

So lately I was thinking about picking up Omega Ruby. Since I'm tired of the same old 6 team of Pokémon, I thought it would be nice to take a Challenge. I'm not taking the Nuzlocke Challenge, but I was thinking between the Solo Challenge or the Monotype Challenge. I'm willing to take on something else, but anything but the Nuzlocke Challenge. Which one do you think I should take on?

...And as I'm typing, I've also found the Shiny Mienshao in my signature. :P

Pendraflare December 19th, 2014 7:20 AM

I've never been one for solos, as they basically give you one overpowered Pokémon, which would make for a pretty dull time after a while. So the Monotype is probably better. Maybe someday you'll be Nuzlocke ready, even if it isn't for a little while to come.

ChikoritaCheezits December 19th, 2014 9:02 AM

I don't think I'm that skilled enough of a player to do any challenges. I do laugh at how funny some of them sound. I saw one called the Youngster Joey challenge.

What does that mean? You can only use a top percentage Rattata and nothing else?

Guardian December 19th, 2014 10:05 AM

I've never took on a challenge neither.

Challenges focus on beating a game, I focus on living the story. Plus Im too lazy to replay something, I'd need a really good reason to do so, and just a mere challenge aint a good enough one. lol

I can't remember. I found the challenge one day but I haven't seen it since.

Brendino December 19th, 2014 2:22 PM

I've always wanted to do a Nuzlocke challenge at some point, but I'm so lazy at even finishing my main games that I never get around to one. As it is, I've only just made it to Dewford on Alpha Sapphire, and it took me about 11 months to beat the Elite Four in Pokemon Y.

As for the Youngster Joey challenge, it looks interesting, but I don't think I'd be able to complete it. I have to give props to anyone that decides to try it and actually finish though, as using an unevolved Rattata as your main/only Pokemon doesn't seem that fun, haha.

Bellsprout December 19th, 2014 2:41 PM

I have never followed a challenge online, but instead I make my own little challenges when I'm extremely bored. Mainly monotype challenges aka my whole team has to be one type. I've found those to be a lot of fun!

ChikoritaCheezits December 19th, 2014 10:05 PM

Remember that fanfic I wrote when I was 13 that I mentioned a few days ago? Well here it is! https://www.fanfiction.net/s/7309626/1/The-Secret-Admirer

Guardian December 20th, 2014 2:56 AM

I never got how people could make random challenges. I mean, doesnt it get tiring when you go through the same story over and over with just few minor changes in mechanics (aka challenge, where you only, I dont know, one type, one gender, on egg group, whatever)?
