Will you return?

Now that ORAS has been released, do you think you'll ever return to the original Hoenn?

Tetra November 24th, 2014 2:53 PM

Yeah! There's stuff in R/S/E that isn't necessarily the same in OR/AS. Like let's take Mauville City as an example. It's pretty much "Mallville City" in OR/AS. If I had to choose, I'd go with the original. I like the feel of the old games slightly better. And the Gym Leader Theme had a more "suspense" in it. It felt like it was something truly important, however that "suspense" in the theme was partially numbed down in the remakes. I'll never forget the originals. <3

Sydian November 24th, 2014 3:11 PM

I love these remakes, but I also love the original games, so I'll always make time to visit. Hell, I replay RSE at least twice a year anyway, haha.

Emboar November 24th, 2014 3:27 PM

Oh, I probably will at some point in time. I've never beaten RSE before anyways, so it would be likely. I just don't know when, as I'm currently playing Alpha Sapphire, and once I'm bored with that I'll be going back to playing LeafGreen, and once I'm bored with that I'll probably go back to Sinnoh, so it looks like Sapphire will just be sitting in my case for awhile.

Dedenne1 November 24th, 2014 3:54 PM

Of coarse although i like Oras guess what? Its way too easy i miss all the challenge Oras had and its fun to nuzlocke the old games!

Pendraflare November 24th, 2014 5:14 PM

I'm sure I will. I mentioned wanting to play this after ORAS to do comparison with them and see just how much harder they are after being more adapted to the 6th gen mechanics. Probably a lot harder. But we'll see in due time.

GhostTrainer November 24th, 2014 5:39 PM

If my Gameboy Advanced SP worked then yea

Joexv November 24th, 2014 7:14 PM

Probably not since I case modded my sp to fit into a Gameboy DMG so even if I wanted to I couldnt, but really the only thing I would go back for is the original Mauville City. The new one sucks.:(

Nyro November 25th, 2014 12:34 AM

I actually prefer the older games. I have played several of the DS ones and we still own a DS and some of the games but sold our other DS and all the games with it. Gen 1-3 were my favorites and I didn't like Diamond/Pearl/Platinum really and Black and White I didn't care for much either. I must confess I have not even bothered to play HG,SS or B/W2.

Guardian November 25th, 2014 2:39 AM

Absolutely, I just recently went through Emerald again, and will come back again :D

DRCM November 25th, 2014 3:06 AM

I'll come back purely because of the speed button on VBA. Makes training so much faster.

Vinny Vidi Vici November 25th, 2014 3:58 AM

Well given there's no Battle Frontier, quite likely. I love me some Battle Factory and Battle Pyramid.

Sekius November 26th, 2014 2:24 AM

I never played this Gen, but i might return to ORAS... Looks amazing...

moon November 26th, 2014 6:26 AM

Yep. Mainly because I still own a GBA and Ruby and probably will never get a 3DS :p Haha.

Hiatus November 26th, 2014 5:51 PM

Sure, why not? One, huge reason behind this is because, well, I'm kind of more connected to original Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald than Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, in a way. Due to this, latter two don't precisely seem to give off the same vibe to me as former three.

I have been planning to give RSE a go couple of weeks before ORAS release, actually, but decided not to, as it would ruin some of my fun from ORAS and whatnot, as they basically have same events, features, characters, and so forth. Though, I'll definitely be playing them once more later down the road once I get the chance.

Last time I had played these games would be about six to eight months ago.

RedJ November 26th, 2014 7:08 PM

Nope, I'm enjoying OR/AS a lot more than I ever did the originals, so I don't have much of a reason to. I never played Emerald, though, so I might pick that up and try it some day.

adameastment November 26th, 2014 7:20 PM

I probably will if only for trade fodder, during XY I replayed so I could get the legends from Emerald. They're good trade fodder :)

Altairis November 29th, 2014 1:50 PM

I thought about playing Ruby, as that's the version I never played, but honestly if i replay any RSE game it will probably be Emerald, since the story is a little different from ORAS and it has a Battle Frontier <3

hardstyl3 November 30th, 2014 10:25 AM

Yes beacause i cant afford a 3D'S
LOL :D

hardstyl3 November 30th, 2014 10:27 AM

yes because i cant afford a 3d's LOL

Gigadweeb November 30th, 2014 11:41 AM

Most likely, yes. I don't even have OR/AS at the moment. :^(

Llewe19 December 3rd, 2014 5:59 AM

Does anyone think Emerald will be remade??? i hope so

Astraea December 3rd, 2014 9:33 AM

Sure will play R/S/E original games anytime, cause original games are always best

Proteun December 3rd, 2014 11:42 AM

Those are great to have for quick playthroughs or Challenges on emulators. I don't have a real GBA, but if I did I wouldn't stop playing R/S, especially to get my Pokémon up again.

KamikazeSSoH December 4th, 2014 5:52 AM

I Beat the game yesterday(Emerald) and im gonna beat Ruby in my vacation to other city soooo im ready.

blue December 6th, 2014 11:14 AM

Most definitely. If anything playing ORAS has given me the urge to replay RSE now. n_n

Tsutarja December 6th, 2014 1:10 PM

I returned to Hoenn the day I got Alpha Sapphire. Every now and then I opened up my Emerald game to do comparisons between exact spots of the game, which I thought was really neat and fun to see.

Imperator161 December 7th, 2014 2:14 PM

I probably will return. I still haven't finished the Emerald Battle Frontier, so that's a draw, and I actually have a copy of Ruby that I haven't done too much on. Gen III can also be fun for challenge runs, so I may do some of that as well. That being said, I doubt I'll spend too much time on Sapphire in the future, but I've barely played it in years anyway, so that doesn't have much to do with the release of ORAS.

Evening December 19th, 2014 2:39 PM

I definitely will, I just have to wait for my sister to finish my Omega Ruby.

Itcheeee December 20th, 2014 5:11 PM

Dispite getting ORAS, I desided to hold off on fnishing the one I began and not opening the second untill I fnish the older titles first. Atleast the real 3rd gen.
Currently doing post story things on Leafgreen, and the rest is mostly trading or small tasks...which I still find more and more to do, mostly on Emerald :P
The spin-offs I'm not counting, except for Colosseum and XD. Colo I still need to catch Ho-Oh, and XD I barely started. Really I can transfer these Pokemon at any time, main goal is fnish the Pokedex's on each title (only doing national dex on FR and Emerald, regional for the rest, maybe XD)

Zeffy December 21st, 2014 8:20 AM

If a sudden wave of nostalgia hits me, then yeah, I think I would. I think I replay Emerald once a year anyway, haha.

Sheep December 21st, 2014 10:15 AM

It's very unlikely. I never thought I'd drop R/S/E completely as they were my favorite Pokemon games overall until this point but when the remakes came out I was so insanely happy with how it was all done that I just couldn't look back. Perfect remake with good music, graphics (for the most part), and more fleshed-out characters.

If I ever have desires to play through Hoenn I'd pop in Alpha Sapphire and play away. Thank you for the memories, R/S/E!

Stormerbuzz35 December 22nd, 2014 4:26 AM

Yeah I probly will. Just because a game was remade doesn't mean you should stop playing the originals. I'll probly just do challenges on them or try randomized games and hacks.

Pave Low December 22nd, 2014 6:33 PM

I play Emerald for every challenge I do. It's the best GBA Pokemon game in that it's a lot more interesting than FRLG and RS. Plus, I think the fact that you can speed this game up by around 7-8x faster on VBA makes it more playable than ORAS. Furthermore, I love playing the original of a game, originals are the best.

I'd likely be in the same situation as this Hoenn fangirl here. While it'd be fun to revisit the originals there's the chance I may get too hooked and used to the remakes that it will be hard to go back.
