I keep it on, because I want to have my other Pokémon in the party keeping up with the ones that I often use, also because it makes training my team a bit easier, too.
I've had it turned off for most of the game thus far (I am as a result very underleveled and am at the 7th gym...that's why I am avoiding this site still for the most part). Only time I turned it on was to train Abra two levels and even then I used my level 40 Glalie from the demo by itself to avoid making things easy. Leveling up without it makes leveling as difficult as pre-Gen 5...
Back in X&Y I don't think I bothered to switch it off at all but creepin' up in Hoenn I set this little beauty to off upon arriving at Rustboro City (7 minutes after receiving it) only using it to level up another Wurmple I caught to have both Beautifly and Dustox.
Without using it my team remains balanced and still gives me a challenge upon entering new routes and during gym battles. I'm currently preparing to get my sixth gym badge and my team of 6 are in their low 30's with the exception of Aron (Lv.16) which I walked back to Dewford to catch! I'm training him up without the aid of Exp. Share, giving him the Amulet Coin and sending him out first each trainer battle. |
I have a hard time leveling my pokemon without it, so I kept it on. I have turned off a few times to level up weaker pokemon with or without a bait and switch method. There are moments when I forget to turn it back on. XD
Kept it on. I focus in the post-game anyways.
I left it on as I usually over level on every rpg anyway
Now I actually shut mine off. All my Pokemon are wayyyyy above the levels of trainers in the area. I guess it's because I search for IV taillows with egg moves/special abilities all the time to trade for pokemon I want to trade into ORAS :/
I used the EXP share right after I had caught a Swablu and Feebas that were both ~10 levels below where they were supposed to be, and I wanted them to gain a lot of EXP while I battled Team Magma and continued on with the storyline, mostly because I was too lazy to grind them. :P I also turned it on towards the end of the main storyline, because then you start to battle a lot of trainers that give out a lot of EXP and I wanted all of my Pokemon to be roughly around the same level.
I kept it on for a little while, until I had a team of 6 that could all compete with the levels of the point I was at in the game, then I turned it off as I found myself too over-leveled. I remember my Taillow evolved near Mauville and I hadn't even used it for ages so that kind of annoyed me. I'm currently at Mt. Pyre with Exp Share off and I'm finding myself 2, 3 or 4 levels above the opponent which is enough to provide a little bit of a challenge with certain trainers. It's certainly better than my Y playthrough when I was OHKOing absolutely everything.
I've been using it, but I'm beginning to think that might have been a mistake...I have six Gym Badges and most of my team are now in their fifties. I could probably tackle the Elite Four right now; I expect my team will be in their seventies by the time I get there at this rate. I kept it on because I didn't want some of my party members to fall behind, but the result is that they've all gone rather dramatically overboard...
...I knew this was going to happen. Or I could have hazarded a guess. I don't really mind, as I've not found Pokemon challenging in years, and this way I don't have to grind mindlessly off low-levelled Pokemon in the wild. But...well, it would have been nice if they hadn't shot up QUITE so fast. xD |
I turned it off right when I got it. It was nice to actually train my pokémon again, more like the originals, and I didn't even really need to grind. I'm done with the Delta Episode and my highest level is fifty. Even with pokémon level 46-48, I swept Wally and the Elite Four, so I shudder to think how easy it would have been had I kept the Exp. Share on.
Nope, I kept mine off through the whole main and delta series.
I was pretty excited for the postgame (no Battle Frontier y u do dis trollfreak T.T), so I kept mine on to speed up my playthrough. It was satisfying to finish the game the very next day, though, since I've never finished a game that quickly before.
I kept mine on. I've become allergic to grinding after marathoning the entire series a year ago. The only game(s) I completed without having to grind before the League just to be around the same level as the Elite Four (despite beating every single trainer on the way!) was/were B2/W2. Now I just love curb-stomping things :) .
Right now I'm getting ready to curb-stomp even harder. I'm thinking about replaying all four Gen 6 games as soon as I capture the Cresselia in OR, and today my Mirage Island has wild Happinies. I'm currently doing a different kind of grinding: grinding Lucky Eggs :D (I have 21 of them already, only three to go) . |
I kept mine on 'cause I like having my Pokemon all at about the same level as others without needing to grind. n_n I don't mind it that much, but having to do it extensively gets boring after a while for me.
I just keep it on. It gives me the benefit of not having to keep switching around and avoids being under leveled. It also lets me switch into Pokemon with a type advantage without having to worry about a Pokemon not getting as much experience and falling behind. My only complaint is that it makes the game a bit too easy.
I had mine on sometimes but usually just when I had multiple Pokemon to raise.
I kept mine off for the entire main storyline, which didnt prevent me from literaly crushing the league with nice levels without grinding.
I kept it on mainly because the last of my planned party members becomes available relatively late and I wanted her to catch up easily...but then I realized that I was dramatically overlevelled (43-45 range upon arriving in Fortree City) and turned it off. XD
hell yes i used it
I used it at all times except against an NPC like a Gym Leader, where I would turn it off so certain team members could have the spotlight and solo against certain enemies on the Leader's team. Any other time, I kept it on in order to allow my team to remain balanced. That said, the only time my team was perfectly balanced was when I reached the Elite Four for the first time and my team was all Level 49 except Swampert, who was Level 50. |
I kept it on mostly for the fact that it bothers me when all of my pokemon aren't at the same level. This just made it like 10x easier to keep my pokemon around the same. Plus it makes it easier to beat gym leaders and such.
THe only problem I encountered for now with it off the whole time was that Trainer Milotic lv 36, after Fortree. The Milotic kept spamming Recover, Water Pulse and Twister. Also it was always raining so Water Pulse did lot of damage.
I haven't finished ORAS yet, but so far, I've kept it on (about to get my fourth badge). Yes, it makes the game easy, but I've enjoyed being able to easily swap my Pokemon in and out and bring in new team members. The main problem is that my starter is majorly overleveled because I don't generally like to take it out of my team even when I'm not training it, so it picks up a lot of extra experience and is about ten levels higher than the rest of the Pokemon I'm training at the moment. I wish they had both the new Exp. Share and an item that functioned like the old one (attach it and give experience to one extra Pokemon). I catch a bunch of new Pokemon that I don't want to grind, but if I had both Exp. Shares as options, I could choose which one I wanted to use based on how many Pokemon I planned on training.
Once again, because I catch and train everything, I leave the Exp Share on. However, what I've found myself to do after a while was start putting higher-leveled Pokémon in the PC so they didn't become OVERleveled. I still have many that are underleveled, so it saves time.
This allowed me to raise an army of Pokémon easily on X.
So yes, I used it. |
