I own the first two Death Note soundtracks, trying to find the final one that doesn't cost $50.

So, to answer your question, yes I do.

DRCM November 30th, 2014 1:01 AM

Every once in a while I listen to some Vocaloid stuff but that's about it. I'm not really film/TV/anime music.

This one i like:

I don't think "Japanese Music" is the right word for this though. It's not like anime music is on the radio in japan. That's kinda like calling the X-Files theme "English Music". Anime music is probably a better term (even if vocaloid's not an anime).

fair enough kek.

I'm assuming they're not the top stations in Japan, though.

I'd like one here in Australia but sadly no

What are you on about. Most anime openings are things that they would play on the radio over there. They are usually used to sell cds and downloads in fact.

To answer op's question. Sometimes.

Not so much, since not many Japanese bands are the metal subgenre I listen too - I still listen to my Gotsu Kotsu Totsu 兀突骨 album once in a while. My favorite song is 復讐ノ祝詞 (Fukushu no Syukushi - Prayer of Vengeance)

The other band I know from Japan, Loudness, I like but also don't like since they sing in English and not Japanese - If I'm going to listen to a band from Japan, I'd rather they sing in their native Japanese and not in English (same with bands from other countries)

Strom Thunder December 1st, 2014 2:58 AM

Well I never heard any Japanese song (or if you call it Anime songs) In radio, But still I believe that these songs could be played in radio in japan or some other countries. But still I think they go with some copyright terms or something. Because playing an anime song without copyrights could make some trouble teas ! xD

Gardevoir the Dragon Slayer December 7th, 2014 12:59 PM

I sometimes listen to Kawaii Radio on Tunein.

I plan to get a few songs from some of my favorite animes on my ipod at one point.

Warspirit December 8th, 2014 12:43 PM

yeah, Japanese is my favorite Asian language anyway. I listen to Matsu****a Yuya and ONE OK ROCK on a regular basis. Then I also like random songs from anime openings/endings.

Harmonious Fusion December 8th, 2014 11:25 PM

Aaalll the time. Most of these aren't from anime, but they're all A+.

1. Astral Dogma - Yousei Teikoku
2. Ra Ciel Reincarnation - Akiko Shikata
3. Hartes ciel, melenas walasye - Haruka Shimotsuki
4. Magia - Kalafina
5. Still Doll - Kanon Wakeshima
6. Yoiyami no Uta - Sound Horizon
7. Disease Princess - Masa

curiousnathan December 9th, 2014 1:20 AM

Nope, I don't listen to Japanese music (unfortunately?).

Aslan December 9th, 2014 2:07 AM

I alternate between English and Japanese music. I actually have 'Hello Sleepwalkers' or the OP for Noragami in the background at the moment. :3

I like Japanese music to answer the question though. There's just something I like about it even if I can barely understand a word that's being spoken.

Rylee Xylph December 10th, 2014 3:06 PM

I have a couple of Japanese CDs I've picked up from charity shops, namely Begin best of (1990-2000) and Volume 3 of Hibari Misora's greatest hits (1967-1989) which in itself is a 3-disc extravaganza!

There's a prog-folk-rock band called Ghost who released an album called Hypnotic Underworld which somehow reached stores in the UK about 10 years ago, and I was listening to a lot of Mad Capsule Markets around that time too.

ChikoritaCheezits December 16th, 2014 12:02 PM

Well, sometimes I'll listen to japanese intros for anime. Those intros are some of the catchiest things ever.

Arylett Charnoa December 16th, 2014 12:45 PM

Yeah, I do. Most of them are anime openings/endings as you said. Or video game openings/endings. I like them because I can't understand the words, so it just sounds like background noise to me. Lyrics tend to be disruptive to my thinking process and I listen to music when I'm doing things or trying to get in a certain mood, so I'd prefer I didn't understand them. But I still like some gently sung English songs.

I can't think of a favorite Japanese song I have in particular, but I do like Touch by Younha quite a bit.

I like Life is Like a Boat quite a bit too! It's got Japanese and gently sung English. The English is very competent, and that impresses me. And the two languages manage to flow into each other in the song, which is also impressive.

Astraea December 19th, 2014 1:55 AM

I only listen to a few in which I like the tuning

Sir Codin December 19th, 2014 2:36 PM

Not really.

And I probably won't anytime soon. BABYMETAL left a bad taste in my mouth.

Weeaboo Name December 19th, 2014 2:59 PM

12 - 14 year old girls dancing to metal riffs is pretty hype, dude.

Alfieri December 19th, 2014 3:03 PM

I only watch anime openings and I only have 1 japanese song in my library that came from an anime ending. So I only really enjoy it when it is paired with the anime opening. Unless I really really enjoy the song by itself.

LilyAnn December 19th, 2014 3:58 PM

I do. I love it a lot. Mostly JRock bands. Vamps and Gackt are my faves atm :p I also listen to plenty of anime openings as well.

Skip Class December 19th, 2014 4:41 PM

I listen to more "mainstream" jpop, and not as much anime openings like I used to, especially idol groups from Johnny's Entertainment such as:
Hey! Say! JUMP, Arashi, somtimes Sexy Zone and Kis-My-Ft2 and occasional listen to songs from a few others. I still listen to Cocoa Otoko sometimes despite they disbanded a few years ago.

I still listen to anime openings, but not as much as I used to:
Departure! - Hunter X Hunter 2011
Daze - Mekakucity Actors (as well as some Kagerou project songs)
lull ~So****e Bokura wa~ - Nagi No Asukara
Rage On - Free!
弱虫ペダル - Yowamushi Pedal
The Other Self - Kuroko No Basuke
Tachiagariyo - Inazuma Eleven

There's too many to name haha

Legobricks December 19th, 2014 5:17 PM

I don't go for the modern stuff. I like some anime soundtracks, but that's because I like soundtracks, irrespective of their composer's nationality. Traditional Japanese music is my thing, though it's actually not very pleasant to listen to at length since it's... traditional, of course, and so doesn't conform to the Western conventions I'm used to hearing.

Candy December 19th, 2014 6:01 PM

I wonder why people are calling it Anime Music when they're actually just Japanese Music used as Anime Openings/Endings. Aside from the Soundtracks (aka BGM), they're pretty much sung by Japanese singers/bands.

Anyway, to answer that question... I have to admit, looking at my music collection, it's 90% Japanese Music (I also go for bands that haven't made a song for an anime as well if you need to know), so that's pretty much it. I do listen to English songs, but I'm too lazy to keep them in my folders and just go to the radio to listen to them, unlike Japanese songs that will never get played in the radio (aside from anime radio stations, but that doesn't exist here).

Mawa December 19th, 2014 6:08 PM

I did listen to a lot of japanese music when I was younger, and I still do but not as much as before. (Dir en grey, Kagerou, Kagarra,,ayabie, Rentrer en soi, L'arc-en-ciel...)
I dont' only like OTS. But some opening and ending are just soooo great.
Wolf's rain don't have japanese lyrics but this is a wonderful OST form an Anime too.

I listen to almost only japanese music form age 13 to 20, and I still listen to it sometime. The first song I listen to was Namie Amuro - Come
