I got the OP updated, so let me know if I missed anything.
It's almost 5 AM and I'm running on no sleep, so I wouldn't be surprised if I did miss something. :p

Note to self: Stop shitting myself and get something done.

13 Outside... (3/8/15)
Spoiler:

Good, we got that lame-ass leader out of the way.

Seriously, that dude was PATHETIC, I mean, you didn't use your full team!

The leader wasn't that weak. He did manage to get some damage onto you guys.

Well, okay, as you wish.

And, wait, guys?

Huh?

Our other guys... They're gone.

---

Meanwhile... at the marsh...
Wooper, Quagsire, Yanma... Yeah, I wonder what our next encounter will...GAH!

Marts? What happened?

What happened? Rach, you don't get it, that's a
Tropius

Wait, you can get those guys here? I thought they only appear after like the 6th badge!

My thoughts exactly. Lets-Agh! *gets shoved*

Huh? Who did that?

I can sense it. It was a grunt.

Since when did you have psychic powers?

If I'm not wrong, she did have it all along. I think as she gets stronger, the powers get stronger as well-

Rats! These guys noticed- *Gets strangled by a force* GAH!! *Throws grunt into the pond*

Jeannette evolved into Medicham!
Do yourself a favour and stay down.

Good. Can I have my-Wait, what is that?

It is a new town, I believe. Those grunts must be transferring mons to some large temple and burning them to create a powerful energy.

How did you know all that?

Must be part of growing, I believe.

Guys! Where have you been? and what- your telling me to fly up that mountain?

---

This place....

Ah! Young man! I'm glad to see you!

Well, I guess that is kind of, hey why do you look like your wearing a mask!

Fuck! You saw my disguise! Houndour! Wreck his shit!

Not today! *water pulses*

You guys realise how the first person we saw here was a grunt pretending to be a good guy?

Indeed, my friend.

Huh? Who the hell are you?

He is the boss of the grunts. He plans to create a new universe and destroy our current one, and you met him a total of 2 times in our adventure.

How did you know all this?

Don't ask me.

Whatever. Sir, I challenge you to a battle and stop that kill the world goal!

Prove I should stop it! Sneasel, teach them a valuable lesson!

Ah! This thing is too FAST!

Then too bad. This guy can EVOLVE, you know!

Don't listen to him, Tobs! Use Flame wheel!

Got it! *whoosh*!

Gah, damnit! I will return!

You...

Part 23 is here :]

Part 6: I shouldn't have said anything
Spoiler:

In Driftveil City, there was more Plasma drama waiting for me. I met Rood, a former member of the seven sages, Hugh finally revealed that it was his sister's Pokémon he was after and why does Team Plasma even have a Zorua? Oh, nevermind. He's giving it to me as a gift. That's fine with me. (Also, yay for N backstory!)

Now that that was out of the way, there was nothing that could stop me from going after the next badge. Clay's gym design was terrible in Black and White, but this is ridiculous. It's much worse now. But at least the music is good.

The battle itself went smoothly, even though I had a bad feeling about this. It was pretty unnecessary, after all. I had two water types and a bug/grass type (that I would have only sent out in an emergency, for fear of the rock type move). Sam quickly got rid of both Krokorok and Sandslash, but for the Excadrill, I switched out into Mimi, because Sam got a bit too much damage from those two already. Mimi was a lot bulkier and with a Charm, the Excadrill was no problem at all. I guess I'll keep that move for as long as possible. It could save me at some point.

With the fifth badge in my pocket, I was going to leave Driftveil, but Clay had other plans. He dragged me and Hugh off to the Pokemon World Tournament, telling us to participate. Well, alright, why not? What could possibly go wrong?

Without thinking much about it, I chose Boris, Betty and Mimi. The first battles against Hugh and Cheren were a breeze. I even felt a bit bad when Cheren's Stoutland hit itself three times in confusion without being able to touch Boris and his Cinccino knocked itself out after setting up two Work Ups. But then there was Colress and I finally realized that I had a huge weakness to electricity. I tried it with Boris' Confuse Ray, but his Magneton never once hit itself. Instead, it proceeded to paralyze Boris, confuse him and finally bring him down into the red, while Boris was paralyzed three times in a row. Thank you, karma. I was forced to switch into Betty, who got paralyzed on the first Thunder Shock. She never once broke through the paralysis or the following confusion either. My only option was to switch to Mimi. At least he would be able to take a few hits better than the other two.

I was very lucky. On the switch, Magneton just used Mirror Shot and on the next turn, it missed the Supersonic. Thankfully, I had just made Mimi remember Aqua Tail. To my surprise, he managed to defeat the Magneton in one hit, outsped the following Klink and the Elgyem, beating them with two more Aqua Tails. That was really close, I already thought I'd lose three team members at once. And there I was initially thinking I'd just exchange Mimi for something else once I had more Pokémon. Now, Mimi is pretty much our lifeline. I just wouldn't have thought that the sad looking Azurill would turn into a monster you don't want to mess with.

Still, I'm not entirely happy with this current team. Four of my Pokémon are physical attackers. Boris' attack stats are pretty even, so he could be mixed. But the only special move he has, is Venoshock. And while Sam is obviously a special attacker stat-wise, his only special move is Water Pulse. Also, Boris is the only one I can have in front when I step in the tall grass. Most of the others are too slow to escape, except for Bluebell, but with his annoying ability, he'll just draw in more Pokémon. I might have to mix the party up a bit eventually. But for now, I want to keep them as they are and hope for the best.

After the barely won tournament, we had to fight some Plasma ninjas on a boat, but in the end they escaped using the ninja trio's mysterious ninja powers. Yeah, they're a pretty shady bunch. Well, there was nothing I could do about them now, so I made my way north again, after I explored the Relic Passage a bit. Since I couldn't catch the Volcarona anymore, I just left it alone.

A bit further down the next route, Cheren met me at the Season Research Lab again to give me Surf. Well, never mind me complaining about having no special attacks for Sam. On the way to the Chargestone Cave, I actually met Terrakion... not sure what to think of that.

I'll blame the electric charge for the stupidity that followed in the cave. I got into a Triple Battle and was really focused on making sure that Oliver wouldn't die. That had been my main concern all the way through Relic Passage, because I wanted to train him, but his special defense is nearly nonexistent. Well, Oliver didn't die. But I completely missed the Tranquill, standing plainly in the middle of the battle screen. I only noticed the threat when I had already selected the last attack – Razor Leaf with Betty. The Air Slash was pretty obvious and it hit. There was no way for her to survive that.

I'm sorry, Betty! I should have paid more attention! I probably jinxed myself. I shouldn't have mused about switching up the party... For now, I'll end this part here. I'm really upset about this loss and how easily it could have been avoided. Also, I need to think about what I'm going to add to the team now.

Spoiler:

After driving away the evil team leader, the gang acquired surf, and sailed away to a new grinding spot.

Ah, Surf. This is psyduckin' amazing.

Hey guys look, it's land!

Nice noticing, Astie! Let's all go out!

---

*sniff* Hey, I recognise that!

Wait, that's... THEM!

Who's 'them'?

I believe he means those thugs that we met at cycling road. You remember those fire horses that tried to kill you? Yeah, those guys.

Psyduck muk damn, I remember it like it was yesterday...

Hey guys! Remember me?

"Well well, look who came back."

Yeah. Anyway, nice bold lettering. And good job becoming an A.T. now.

"Yeah. I got fired as a cyclist thanks to you dummies. Don't you dare think I forgot what you did."

Maybe you should think about what YOU did. Having your lame four-legged mutts trample over me, nearly kill the starter, and cause absolute disruption. Why did you do all this? Because you picked on Joshua just because he accidentally rode on your road. THAT'S IT.

"Woah, hey look guys! The Psyduck-Duck evolved! Just look at 'er! Blue suits her well!"

"How did she get so skinny all of a sudden? She must have gone on a diet thanks to my stomping! LOL!"

Wait, you evolved?

"Sure I did! Just look at these tall thighs man, look! Oh, wait, check out this BLASTY mane! And does my horn look HORNY!?"

...This was technically the one that injured Rach, right?

Yeah. Anyway, we have to GRIND. Gym, remember?

"No."

Huh?

*Grabs Josh* "Maybe you should try grinding against ME."

Uh, Ok, FINE!Well Rach, since you have the lowest level, you can probably give the horses a taste of revenge.

Neat. I'm on it.

"Hey, do you realise only ONE of my horses are with me?"

Uh, yeah? What happened to the other 2?

"Well, the first one DIED. Being kicked by diamonds ain't fun, no. And the second one? Kicked mud into the eyes. No cool. Fire weak to ground."

"Stop reminding me of the diamond hoove kicking! I was hospitalised for weeks!"

"True that. But to make up?"

What the psyduck...

"Marts? Heh heh."

GRANDDAD!?

Who on earth is that!?

It's... Ugh, the dad of my famous mom.

And he's a shiny.

True that. He got angered by the loss of his daughter, and now he is basically a psycho.

"Where is my opponent!?"

"Try to get behind this guy. He has PERFECT IVs, and plus he's got that special shine. Try and kill him, I dare you. Now, kill that duck!"

"Heh. Sure thing." *Take down*!

Agh!

No!

"Well, well, it was JUST like that incident in cycling road! Kill her right now!"

A critical hit!

T-Tobs?
Gaaah....
No!
PSYDUCK YOU GRANDDAD!

"Yes. Psyduck me. But you must soon come to know it was YOUR FAULT, AS WELL AS YOUR DUMB TRAINER'S!"

Are you mentally retarded or just HIGH!?

"Your right. we are high. We are going to fly away soon."

"True that. What I meant just now was that if you didn't accept the battle, your silly horse would still be alive. So long, and psyduck you, you psyducking son of a rattata."

Goddamnit....*sniff*

Part 7: Aren't we supposed to be friends?
Spoiler:
I ultimately decided to take along Mona the Solosis to replace Betty. Training her was a bit of a pain, since she initially had Hidden Power grass as her only attacking move, but she learned Future Sight and Psyshock soon enough. The trip through Chargestone Cave could proceed.

And I'm starting to hate this cave. Further in, I stumbled across a Rotation Battle, where I lost Oliver to a Mirror Shot from a Ferroseed. And I was very lucky not to lose anyone else right there. So much for a team of six. And for not letting Oliver die.

Of course, just when I say that I hate this place, I run into another shiny. A Joltik this time. What's going on? I never, ever find shinies. And now I get two in one run? I'll have to take a look at it, once I reach the next town. Now that both of my bug types are dead, I may just add it to the party.

I managed to get out of the cave without any more dead Pokémon, but I feel a little underleveled. I checked the shiny Joltik at the PC, but it's not what I need right now. So I left it alone for now and took out Tony the Sandshrew instead, since I still don't have an efficient solution against steel and/or electric types.

Just when I went looking for a good spot to level him, I encountered Professor Juniper. For the first time in the entire game!? Wow, that really is late. And she gave me the Master Ball. Just like that. Well, thanks. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to grind.

After I hunted down a couple Audino and battled the trainers surrounding Celestial Tower, I finally went inside to look for the professor. Unexpectedly, she was right by the entrance. And she gave me the Lucky Egg. Argghhhh!! Are you trying to tell me I could have just went in here immediately and get done with the training much faster?!

Not like I can change that now. I battled my way up the tower and it was just as unspectacular as in the first game. I don't know. For some reason, I always expect something to happen when I ring the bell. Whatever. Now that that was out of the way, I headed to the gym. The mechanics were weird, but I think I prefer this to the cannons.

Regarding Skyla, I didn't expect many problems. Bluebell crunched her Swoobat to death easily. Mimi was supposed to fight her Swanna, but it annoyed the heck out of me with Feather Dance, so I switched out into Mona to finish the job. I sent out Tony to deal with the Skarmory, but in the end, the Rocky Helmet did half the job, since I missed more than half of my Rock Tombs. In retrospect it would have been faster, if I had just let Sam take care of it. Either way, I got the badge with no problem. And with the TM Aerial Ace, I could replace that terrible Rock Tomb on Tony, that I actually just taught him for the gym. It probably wasn't a bad idea to have one move that wouldn't miss, even if it was relatively weak. But still... wasn't that scene around the TM the same as in the previous game? That seemed awfully familiar.

What happened next was unexpectedly delightful. Upon the professor's request, Skyla flew us to a small secluded place called Lentimas Town. Bell tagged along for the ride. There was an inactive volcano and, a bit off the roadside, I found an old house. I must say, they did a great job with this. The atmosphere was great and the hints of the ghost girl's story were touching. What creeped me out the most were probably the random trainers in the house. What are you doing in there?! Why do you challenge me to a battle when I barely just entered the room? Who are you anyway? Why would you hang out in that house?! Don't you think that place is strange? Not even in the slightest? Geez, I don't know why they seemed so creepy to me, but they did.

I took the Lunar Wing and saw that I got out of the house. Next stop, Reversal Mountain. Bell wanted to accompany me, so we explored the caverns together. It didn't take long until we found the right stairs, but I wanted to look around some more, so I led her off into a different direction. When I tried to leave through the other exit, she decided to stay there, however. Well, since there was another town right by the volcano, I bought some new repels and looked around a bit.

I tried to go to the next route, but Hugh stopped me and challenged be to a battle. And, well, what can I say... His Unfezant was quickly defeated by Bluebell, but then he sent out his Serperior. I still can't believe what happened next. Boris' Fly missed, allowing the stupid snake to Coil twice. The Venoshock wouldn't kill in two hits, so there was another Coil before it started attacking. Boris got hit with a critical hit Slam and died. Hoping that Bluebell would be faster to finish it off, I sent him out. Unfortunately, I forgot that the rival heals up his Pokémon. So, Return barely scratched it.

The Serpiroyal was then faster and killed Bluebell with a Leaf Blade. Mona was my last hope, but she died to another crit. Mimi, Sam and Tony were all slow and weak to grass, so Hugh had an easy time sweeping my whole team. They all died.

Well, that was really dumb. That never actually happened to me before. I never lost my whole team against a single Pokémon or even in a single battle. I'm going to continue, since I want to play through the game and I don't use the Game Over when you faint rule, but I need to think about what to do now. With the more recent catches I have a bit of a variety, so I guess I can get a new, balanced team. But for now, I'm going to stop here and cry a bit on the inside.

UPDATE #15: THE ROCKET-SEEKING IDIOT BALL
Spoiler:
I'm back, guys! And not before time; I've really been neglecting this, due to exams and such, but I'm back, I'm free from work for now, and we're ready to roll again.

My main objective was to meet up with Lance in Mahogany, but I needed to take some time out first. The thing was, the next Gym Leader was Pryce, and my team was frankly not suited for battling Ice-types. Tristan, Artax and Kiba were obviously going nowhere near Pryce; Leto would take super-effective damage from Piloswine and struggle against the other two; Justin still didn't have any Psychic-type moves and had way too low SpD to withstand anything more powerful than an Aurora Beam; Terra was the only Pokémon I had who wouldn't struggle against Pryce. I needed a new team member for the time being, and I had the perfect candidate - I pulled Maxwell out of the PC and set about levelling him up.

Once my Magnemite was at a reasonable enough level, I headed back out to Mahogany, where I found Lance menacing a Rocket Grunt with his Dragonite. No big deal, it wasn't like Lance would order Dragonite to maim the guy or anything-

"Dragonite, Hyper Beam!"

Welp.

Anyway, we headed down the stairs into the hideout, where I was accosted by four Grunts before I got annoyed and switched off the cameras. Thanks, scientist who told me exactly where the controls were and not to touch them! *Facepalm*

The battles were uneventful, with Maxwell gaining much-needed experience and the rest of the team getting to kick some butt too. The real entertainment came from the Team Rocket members themselves, all of whom seemed to have taken their stupid pills that morning. Case in point: after running into an electronically-locked door, I met a Grunt who told me the password straight out... and then informed me that, by the way, the door actually needs two passwords! Oh, but I'd never get the second one, no way!

One Grunt later, and I had the second password just given to me, because there was no way I'd already have the first one! *Headdesk* Look, I know plot convenience and all, but this is ridiculous.

Things got even more hilarious when I was challenged by Petrel. After being flattened by my team, he decided to be the next to grab the Idiot Ball and told me the password to the generator room, gleefully adding that the door was coded to respond only to his voice, so what was the harm in telling me? Apparently he didn't notice the voice-mimicking Murkrow standing in his office, who led me to the generator and repeated the password in Petrel's voice, opening the door for me. *Headdesk* No wonder Team Rocket have never managed to accomplish anything, if even their Executives are this stupid!

Back at the generator room, Lance and I teamed up against Ariana and a Grunt; with Lance's (underlevelled, by the way) Dragonite on our side, they went down easily. We then cleared out the Electrode - me not catching one, because apparently the Idiot Ball had no one else to stick to - and shut down the HQ. Victory!

Man, Team Rocket are dumb.

UPDATE #16: MAXWELL'S SILVER HAMMER!
Spoiler:
With Team Rocket cleared out of Mahogany and the Pokémon of the Lake of Rage safe again, the Gym was open for business, and I set about preparing. At this point, Maxwell was still too low a level for the Gym battle, so I took time out to evolve him before taking on Pryce. After a barrage of wild Pokémon battles - during which I caught a Girafarig named Jeremy on Route 43 - and the few trainers in the Gym, I had a Magneton!

It was at that point that I discovered that it isn't possible to get hold of a Magnezone in HGSS without trading, so - still within the rules - I borrowed my sister's 3DS and her copy of Diamond so I could let Maxwell level up in Mount Coronet. Soon enough, he was at level 31, and evolved into my first ever Magnezone.

[EDIT (18/9/2016): I was just now made aware that evolving Maxwell is technically breaking the rules, which I wasn't aware of at the time. My mistake, and it won't happen again.]

That was enough for me. It was time to face Pryce.

Pryce first sent out Seel, a pure Water-type; I sent in Justin. Seel was at a rather lower level than my Espeon, so Justin was able to take it down with a few Bite and Swift attacks. Then Pryce threw in Piloswine, and the battle got real.

I threw in Terra, hoping to take out the Ground/Ice-type with a Surf or two. Piloswine had other ideas, starting off by using Hail. A pain in the neck, for sure, but it wasn't until the next turn that I realised just how dangerous this was - 100% accurate Blizzard.

Blizzard did a good deal of damage to my Quagsire - not enough to knock her HP out of the green zone, but enough to make me worry - and, to put the icing (heh) on the "uh-oh" cake, froze her. I couldn't take the risk - I used one of my precious Full Restores, bringing Terra back to full health. What followed was a desperate struggle for survival, with Piloswine spamming Blizzard and Ice Fang and me working overtime to keep Terra alive. It took two Soda Pops and about four Surf attacks, but it was Terra who finally emerged victorious - and when Dewgong entered the battle, it was with relief that I recalled Terra and sent in Maxwell.

Dewgong was a fiercer opponent than I'd reckoned, with Aurora Beam doing decent damage for a not-very-effective move. The other issue was, of course, Rest and Sleep Talk, which got on my nerves to no end - Maxwell's Thundershock didn't do enough damage to knock Dewgong out, but enough to make it use Rest, locking us into a cycle of zapping and healing. After a few turns of this, then, I decided "screw it" and had Maxwell use Magnet Bomb, knocking the opponent's HP down enough that one Thundershock would take it out. And with that, well, as the song goes...

"Bang! Bang! Maxwell's silver hammer
"Came down upon [its] head.
"Bang! Bang! Maxwell's silver hammer
"Made sure that [it] was dead."

The Glacier Badge was mine.

You know, I might hang on to Maxwell; he might be useful against Clair. But there's no time for that - the Radio Tower needs liberating! See you then!

UPDATE #17: RADIO GA GA!
Spoiler:
The Radio Tower - late-game though it was, I wasn't particularly worried about what I'd face there. The place was full of Rocket Grunts, all of whom used Poison-types, so Terra, Artax, Maxwell and Kiba would have a field day. With that in mind, it was time to storm the place. In disguise as a Rocket Grunt, I made to go up the stairs, only to be interrupted by Silver, who... ripped off the Grunt disguise. And a million pieces of fan art were drawn that day. Anyway, Maxwell and Kiba dealt with the attacking Grunt, and we headed upwards.

The battles weren't too tough, with most of the Grunts' Pokémon going down in one or two hits; the only real annoyance was Artax and Leto being repeatedly poisoned, which I was fortunately able to heal before they succumbed to it. When I got to the Director's office, I met Petrel again, who challenged me to battle.

He wasn't very difficult, packing five Koffing and a Weezing; Artax, Maxwell and Kiba took them out one by one. In return, he proved that the Idiot Ball was still bouncing around Team Rocket and told me where to find the real Director, even giving me the Basement Key to expedite my rescue. Look, Petrel: I understand that you might be telling me these things in the interest of fairness, but the last time you did that, you had your entire HQ shut down as a result. How stupid are you?

Anyway, it was back to the Goldenrod Tunnel, where I ran into Silver again - and this time he wanted a fight. He'd added a Sneasel - stolen from a guy in Cianwood City - to his party for this battle, which wouldn't have been a problem if not for his Magnemite paralysing and almost taking out Leto beforehand. Luckily, Maxwell once again proved his worth at dealing with Ice-types by taking out the Screech-afflicted Sharp Claw Pokémon with a single Magnet Bomb.

In the basement, among the various Rocket members, I found the Director, who gave me the Card Key; so with that, I headed back to the Radio Tower to face Proton.

Proton threw out a Golbat and a Weezing, neither of whom put up much of a fight; up on the next floor, I was challenged by Ariana, who started with an Arbok. She was rather more of a challenge than her colleague, but Terra, Leto and Maxwell were able to deal with her Arbok, Vileplume and Murkrow respectively. After that, I decided to rejig the team again for the last battle; Tristan wouldn't enjoy fighting the last Executive, so I boxed him in favour of Justin, whom I decided to teach Shadow Ball to replace Bite.

Back on the observation deck, it was time to challenge Archer, who started out with a Houndour; needless to say, I immediately pulled back Justin and sent in Terra. My Quagsire took two Crunches from the Fire-type before it went down from a Surf, and then Archer sent in something much worse: a level 38 Houndoom. Uh oh.

Houndoom was, of course, faster than Terra, and did a massive amount of damage with Faint Attack and Bite before finally going down to Surf and Mud Shot. By this time, Terra was on the verge of collapse, and I was relieved when Archer sent out a Koffing as his final Pokémon. Immune to Koffing's Sludge, Maxwell zapped the Poison-type into oblivion, and Team Rocket were defeated, Terra levelling up and learning Earthquake as a bonus. You know, that might have been useful to have before the battle started!

As a reward for liberating the Radio Tower, the Director gave me a Rainbow Wing - yay! And with that, it was time to go.

Back in Mahogany, the RageCandyBar seller had finally finished blocking the road, so I set off along Route 44 - Justin levelling up during a Trainer battle, and finally learning Psybeam! Justin is now viable for battle!

But now we have to go through Ice Path. I'm aiming to find a good Ice-type there, because no way am I fighting Clair without super-effective moves, and I can't get the Extremespeed Dratini until after beating the Gym. Ugh. Until then, folks!

UPDATE 4:
Spoiler:
Obtained my last badge, and made it through Victory Road. Last thing to do is to challenge the Elite Four, so I'll be grinding for a bit.

Route 21 - Ursaring - (Bernstein)
Route 20 - Trevenant - (Whistler)
Pokemon Village - Amoongus (Pokeshroom)

Still using the same team as the previous post (may swap out Holy Bell for Whistler). Other than that, I will give a more detailed update in my final post.

Lrachelr5 September 9th, 2015 1:11 PM

Okay so I had some time and have started my nuzlocke challenge.

So I piked Cindaquil as my starter and named her Rydel (ten points if you know who I am talking about) I headed to Cherrygrove city battling wild pokemon to visit Mr. Pokemon. After doing this I ran into my rival (Jeff) and beat his totodile quite easily due to growing a couple of levels. Headed back to New Bark town and was told that Elm was going to keep the egg I had gotten before he told me to take on the Pokemon League. Spoke to my mum before heading to route 29 where I met Ethan and was shown how to catch pokemon. I later caught a level 2 Hoothoot which I called Hedwig before healing up in Cherrygrove again. Save progress.

I'm so sick of grinding...

Part 8: Starting over

Spoiler:
After the massacre from last time, I thought about a new team and chose Nobbles the Trubbish, Diana the Ducklett, Elafin the Deerling, Zelda the Joltik, Serena the Litwick and Gudrun the Trapinch. Training them was tedious and painful. Especially when I accidentally ran twice in a row into the same breeder, because I completely forgot that they want a rematch. I was severely underleveled and had to use a lot of potions to get out of this alive. Twice. But Diana, the only one who could hope to stand a chance against both of her flying Pokémon, managed to pull through against all odds and saved my behind.

At long last, they all reached level forty and their final evolution. Well, everyone except for Gudrun and Serena, who were still at their middle stage. I'm pretty satisfied with this team. Especially Diana, Elafin and Zelda are putting in the finest of work. Serena is getting there, but she is lacking a strong fire move. Gudrun was my problem child until she went and evolved. And Nobbles... Well, his attack stat is good, but unfortunately his only physical move is payback. And that's mostly useless, because he outspeeds most foes. I'm also worried about his ability. I didn't know that he would get Weak Armor. That makes me wonder which one of his abilities is more charming? Stench – a bag of garbage that smells horribly – or Weak Armor – a bag of garbage that bursts open at the slightest touch and spills its contents everywhere... Better not dwell on it.

I tested out their power on the route beneath Undella Town and finished exploring the volcano and then got my revenge on Hugh. Diana defeated his Unfezant, and weakened that stupid Serperior's attack with Feather Dance. But since it already started coiling to raise its defense, I switched out into Nobbles and killed it with a Sludge Bomb. Serena got to deal with the Simisear. I don't think it actually had any moves that could touch her, but that's what he got for killing my whole previous team – most of whom were on the team right from the start. I also realized that four members of my new team are resistant to grass type attacks and five have moves that are super effective against grass. Yeah, didn't plan on that, might be a subtle message from my subconsciousness, but at least I'm not as vulnerable against this damn Serperior.

I continued exploring the next routes and towns. I won't go into detail here, most of that wasn't interesting. Except for the battle against the gentleman blocking the way through Village Bridge. His Lucario killed Serena. So much for that. Gudrun managed to kill it, before it did more harm. However, now I had a free spot on my team yet again.

I decided to let Xeno tag along. I slapped the EXP-Share on him at first, since I was going to see what other options I'd get from the following routes. I actually caught a Pawniard later that would probably be more useful, but I already had one on the team in my Black Nuzlocke and I never used a Klink yet, so Xeno stays for now. On top of that, he doesn't perform as badly as I expected him to. In fact, having something defensive like him is rather nice. I had another grinding session, raising Xeno to be able to fight back and giving the rest of the team a few levels as well, just to be a little bit safer. At this point, I'm pretty sick of losing Pokémon left and right and having to grind every time.

Current location and objective: Opelucid City, challenge the gym, probably.

Part 9: Gyms and forced story telling
Spoiler:
Since the last update was pretty boring, let's start with a boring gym match this time, shall we? Really, Drayden actually had me a bit worried beforehand, but in the end, he went down quickly. Elafin single-handedly wiped out his Druddigon and Flygon, and Xeno handled the Haxorus without any problems. The fight itself is barely worth mentioning, so I won't go into more detail. Afterwards, he led me to his house – a scene that reminded me of Iris in Black and White.

Just as he told me about his DNA Splicers (for no apparent reason), a huge flying Plasma Ship appeared and shot ice crystals at the city... that sounds remarkably like a weird plot-twist for a sci-fi movie. It turns out they want the DNA Splicers. Gasp! Exactly the item we were just talking about. What are the chances? (I extract one point for bad storytelling. That whole scene is way too forced. Moving on.) Well, I guess that means beating up Plasma grunts now.

At this point, I'd like to mention that Xeno has really come in handy so far. I completely underestimated him, even though he's actually pretty awesome. On another note, I have a question. Why does the Plasma sage that hates cold use ice types? Anyway, the item got stolen by the Shadow Triad and they disappeared with it. These three have to feel pretty bad about themselves. Before, they stood out for being ninjas. Now that all of Team Plasma's members seem to have become ninjas, they aren't really anything special anymore. Oh, well. I guess we'd better go look for them. Considerate as they are, they were headed for Humilau City, so I can get my 8th badge along the way.

I must say, I like this city. It's so vacation-y. I explored the next route a bit, before I went to challenge the gym. Worth mentioning about the random trainers there would probably be Nobbles living a Mirror Coat from a Vanillite with 4 HP. I also found Team Plasma in the cave, but I couldn't fight them for plot reasons. Makes sense. Why would I start a battle with them when I'm looking for them? After all, they're supposed to block the way to stop the player from advancing.

Now that there was nothing else to do, I finally paid the gym a visit. This might just be my favorite one in this game. The design is cool, the way of transportation kinda fun and the music is quite relaxing.

I led off with Zelda, but I Volt Switched out immediately, because I was a bit afraid of a rock move from his Carracosta. It instead tried to Shell Smash instead after it lived thanks to its Sturdy ability. However, Xeno was still faster and defeated it with no problem. Wailord didn't stand a chance either. It managed to survive a Horn Leech from Elafin, but for the following Bounce, I could just switch in Xeno again and watch it die from the Rocky Helmet damage. For his Jellicent, I tried to give Nobbles a chance to shine. Unfortunately, he is too fast, so Payback doesn't do nearly enough. On top of that, he got burnt by the first Scald. So, Zelda got to take care of it instead. After the fight, I actually got rid of the Payback and gave Nobbles Return instead. That should at least to a bit more damage...

I'm actually a little disappointed that the last two gyms were rather easy. Now that I had my last badge, we could finally go and find Team Plasma... why that was impossible before, I have no idea. I mean, gym is more important than catching Pokémon thieves? I won't ask. Well, the Grunts were still blocking the cave and still not fightable. But Colress appeared out of nowhere, gave me the cleverly named Colress Machine and a not-so-subtle hint as to where I should go now and disappeared again.

With the machine, the Crustle could be shooed away to clear the way to the Plasma ship. On there, Hugh immediately set off to look for the sage, while I first had a look around. The Plasma Grunts were gathered around a set of stairs, discussing whether there really are intruders or not. All while I'm standing right next to them. Now, that's ridiculous. I'll buy that they're brainless grunts who can't think for themselves. But that? Are they blind? And another one is asleep? Whoever decided that this was a good idea to use as an excuse for blocking the stairs should be hit over the head with a book about logic. And it only gets more stupid from there. They can't even recognize an intruder if they're standing right in front of them without wearing their uniform and they show random strangers pictures of Reshiram and Zekrom. What. The. Hell.

Long story short, Team Plasma managed to escape again and we ended up pursuing them to the Giant Chasm. There, we challenged them again and Diana got killed, because some stupid Weezing felt the need to blow itself to pieces. Argh! It just had to be my Fly and Surf user, right? And after the fight, I got a Max Revive from Rood. Now you're just mocking me! Cut it out, it's not funny!

Fine then. Change of moves. I made Gudrun forget Strength and gave her Fly instead. Strength and Surf went to Diana's successor, the Spheal Rolli. Or should I say Walrein. The training at the Giant Chasm didn't take quite as long as I anticipated and he caught up to the rest of the team rather quickly. He's slow, can take a few hits and apparently likes to freeze things with his Ice Beam.

Current location and objective: Giant Chasm, follow Team Plasma onto their ship.

Starter - Kipz n Dipz the Mudkip

Route 103 - Also forgot to nickname my Poochyena. Loosely following that rule.
Route 104 - Gullorious the Wingull

No faints or white outs so far. Super training my team before I move on to the Petalburg Woods.

skyburial October 21st, 2015 2:27 PM

Some updates -

Petalburg Woods - Shroomley the Shroomish

Beat Roxanne, no casualties.

Route 116 - Katsu the Nincada
Rusturf Tunnel - Whiskey the Whismur
Granite Cave - Zul the Zubat

Gullorious and Shroomley both fainted to Brawly's Makuhita. They were released accordingly. I was pretty salty as I really though Gullorious would pull through, but 6 turns of confusion on that Makuhita still resulted in 0 confusion hits, and I couldn't keep up with his Bulk Up momentum in enough time to save Shroomley. A Stun Spore miss added insult to injury. Kipz clutched it out by the skin of his teeth.

Okay, failed again. I'm done.

Hi Volga,

I was wondering if you allow RPGMaker XP games for the nuzlocke challenge? I'm thinking about Pokemon Wack, it's not complete but it is up to 6 gyms and it does follow the 8 gyms/Elite Four rule as far as I can tell...

Not sure if anyone is reading these, but since I officially did this cart reset to catch new and ideal legends, I'm going to suspend my Nuzlocke while I chase Kyogre.

I ran into some hardships in Mauville, particularly, losing about 5 or 6 mons while I tried to figure out a new team mate. The current team is:

Zapdoge the Manectric (Mega)
Kipz n Dipz the Swampert
Camerupt (can't remember the nickname)
Zul the Crobat
Camping the Machamp
ZigyStardust the Linoone.

Zigy's been doing awesome. Can't complain about that guy.

Resumed my challenge today. Wallace took out my Machamp with a Horn Drill >_< sometimes you gotta love how lucky the AI gets in Pokemon. Back in the genwunner days I had a Golem with Fissure and connected about one out of every ten times that I used it. Sad times.

Back to the grind of training a new mon, I suppose. Since one of the elites runs Ghost types I'll probably see about getting this Poochyena up to par.

Edit: NVM remembered I hadn't caught anything at Meteor Falls yet so I went and nabbed a Deino. I named him Dino Spimoni.

Finished my Nuzlocke last night. Beat the Elite 4 by the skin of my teeth - going up against Steven with 3 Pokemon left in my team was not the most reassuring position. Each of the elites took a Pokemon down with them, my Linoone, Crobat, and Zweilous failing to make it to the finish line. In my eyes, it will be only Zapdoge, Kipz and Camerupt in this Hall of Fame record.

I've already started playing a little so here's my first update:

Spoiler:
- Chose Chikorita as my starter, named him Basil. Set off on my journey.

- Saw a Pidgey on Route 29 (once I had pokeballs) and Basil crit her. Thanks, buddy.

- Hopped on over to Route 46 and catch a Spearow. Named her Undyne.

- Caught A Rattata on Route 30, name him Feist.

- Undyne died at the hands of Youngster Joey and his top-percentile Rattata. I am deeply ashamed.

- Caught a Geodude in Dark Cave. Named him LOLDIEFALKNER Ebbot.

- Came across no pokemon in Sprout Tower, decided not to think about it. I've trained Gastly often enough.

- Battled Falkner, and Feist gave his life to absorb a critical hit from his Pidgeotto. RIP, little one.

(It's at this point in the write-up I come to the sudden realisation that while joined, Routes 30 and 31 are in fact separate routes and in the name of grinding I murdered whatever had come first there).

- Caught a Wooper on Route 32. Named him Happy.

- Caught a Zubat in Union cave, who I forgot to nickname, so she was boxed for my grievous error.

- Caught another Rattata on Route 33. Named her Nene. She's boxed as a backup for now. Feist's death is still too fresh in my memory. :'(

- Reached Azaelea, defeated the Rockets, ground a little. Basil evolved. Togepi hatched. Named her Princess, then boxed her.

- Ran off into Ilex Forest after defeating my rival and caught an Oddish. Called her Spring. 'Nother grass type. Meh (she gets used for Cut, then boxed).

- Defeated Bugsy.

- Caught a Ditto on Route 34, named it Dita, then boxed it. Happy evolved against one of the trainers on this route.

- Ran through Goldenrod to battle trainers in/around the park. Caught a Nidoran (F) on Route 35. Named her Hara.

- Caught a Stantler on Route 36. Named her Darcie.

- After some grinding, Hara evolved into Nidorina.

-Only regular Poké Balls can be used to catch Pokémon, barring a shiny or Xerneas

I also do have my Black 2 going on, but I don't think i'm going to continue making small updates. I'll post the end results once it's all over. This, however, will be quite a bit easier to write out.
Spoiler:
So I started the game, chose the girl and named her Insectina. I got Fennekin as my starter and named it Witchcraft, beat Shauna, and after getting the Pokédex, I caught a Weedle on Route 2, which I named Hornet. Then in Santalune Forest, I ended up with a Caterpie that I named Margarine. I beat the trainers there, some of which actually left me low on health, and beat the trainers on Route 3 as well, so both my bugs evolved. I beat a couple of the trainers on Route 22, but not all of them. I managed to have myself a Beedrill and Butterfree before I got to the Gym, and beat one of the trainers before I got to the Gym Leader.

Her Surskit wasn't a problem for Hornet once I got in the poisoning, because Fury Attack hit four times. Vivillon proved much harder, as I had to tread with Margarine and lower her Speed, and she got me very low thanks to Infestation, so I had to use a Potion. Once Margarine was freed from Infestation, Witchcraft took care of her and killed her with three shots of Ember (because she healed after the first). I got the Bug Badge and stopped there.

Spoiler:

Additional rules:
- All Pokémon must be nicknamed. Theme: Vegetables (provided by my BFF!);
- No held items (clause: evolving by trades);
- Shinies = freebies;
- No duplicates;
- Starter Pokémon decided by trainer ID's last number;

Should be good to update in a few hours; I have some chores to do before actually playing.

EDIT:

Well, few hours turned to be a bit more XD;;.

Since I've never played in Sinnoh as a girl, I'll be one for this playthrough. I shall name her... Lotus! I love lotus root tempura, so there we go. Plus it's adorable. As for my frenemy, his name is now Tomato. Why Tomato? Well it's a technical fruit used as a veggie. Thought it was fitting. (I almost called him Tom Ato. Almost.)

Lotus' starter is based on her trainer ID's last digit: I broke it down as follows.

1-3: Piplup
4-6: Chimchar
7-9: Turtwig
0: Coin toss between two, winner faces the third.

Her ID is 22623, so Piplup it'll be!

Update #1: From Twinleaf to Sandgem and beyond!
Spoiler:

Tomato ran into Lotus as she was heading to his house, and again as she made it inside his bedroom. Tomato, always in a hurry, ran up to Route 201, where he waited patient- haaaah riiiiiight. He probably ran in circles the whole time.

~ Verity Lakefront ~
Lotus and Tomato found Prof Rowan and Lucas near the lake, but the two took their leave early on. This is where Tomato suggested they walked into the tall grass *GASP*. Rowan left his briefcase behind, surprise surprise... AND BAM, ATTACKED.

Oooh Pokéballs! Lotus grabbed Penguin Pokémon Piplup and bravely defeated the mean, mean level 2 Starly. That's roughly when Lucas barged in, took the briefcase along with the Pokémon *pets poor Lotus*, and set out from the lakefront.

However, Tomato and Lotus caught up with "that old guy" and Lucas right near the town. Rowan looked at the Pokéballs the kids had chosen, probably frowned, then stared, and took off... somewhere... with the determination of a thousand men.

Lotus went back home feeling sad, got a small lecture from her mom about explaining things in person to Rowan, all the way in Sandgem Town. She also gave her a pair of Running Shoes and read her the accompanying instructions (and a second time for good measure, since mashing A is a thing). Equipped with brand new shoes, it was time for Lotus to go to Sandgem.

~ Route 201 ~
I have no Pokéballs yet, so the encounters don't count. No? XD;;

~ Sandgem Town ~
Lucas was waiting for Lotus outside, and escorted her to Rowan's lab... where Tomato once again ran right into her. Slightly excited, he didn't barely explained anything and just bolted.

Stunned, Lotus wobbled her way to Rowan's lab. Figures she got good news from Rowan, who's agreed to let her keep the Piplup. Dawwwww! Lotus has a companion that won't spend the entire game rushing around her! She decided to call the thing Okra.

Hi Okra, welcome to the team! Considering you're the entire team right now, that is. Okay, well, that's a bit false, as you have Lotus who'll take good care of you.

Rowan also gave her a Pokédex, which she can use to collect specific data... that has somewhat not been collected yet despite being clearly programmed in there. Lucas also got one.

Pokédex in hand, both youngsters took a short tour around Sandgem. Lucas also had a good point in saying she should go back to her family and tell her about her exciting new adventure!

~ Twinleaf Town ~
Lotus' mom has her back! Great! She also gave her a Journal (handy feature), and told her to enjoy the world. Tomato's mom also dropped by, and handed her a Parcel to give to Tomato (impatient lil' runt!)

Ready? Set? GO, LOTUS! GO! The world is your oyster!

~ Route 201 ~
Still no Pokéball, but that Nuzlocke almost failed already. I'm just one step away from the end of the street when a Starly decides to crit. I really though Okra could handle it, but down to 7HP with this Starly at just a bit below 50%, I just hit Run. I hate running from fights, but it was that or failing right after signing up. Which would have been beyond lame.

Pit stop in Sandgem before heading out. I'm pretty sure Lotus'll get some Pokéballs from Lucas, but I bought a few anyways - they're not necessarily lost regardless. Bought a few Potions and Antidotes too. Lotus then headed for Route 202, where it played exactly as I thought: she learned to catch Pokémon, and got 5 Pokéballs from Lucas.

At this point, she went back to Route 201 to catch something, which is... a Starly! Lotus caught Celery the Starly at 1HP, thanks to a Growl which slightly lowered ATK. Whew, that was a close one!

~ Route 202 ~
On Route 202, a Shinx-... was a failed catch because of Okra's crit.

I'm gonna whine here for just a second, but during my first Gen IV playthrough, I had a Shinx who stood by me during the entire thing, eventually becoming a strong Luxray - I think I still have him on the original cartridge. I really wanted another, but a crit decided otherwise. Ah well DX. Rules are rules, but damnit. DISAPPOINTMENT.

For now, Lotus needs a bit of training~! Stay tuned for more updates!

Update #2: Of (Jubi)life and Roark Fights
Spoiler:

~ Jubilife City ~
Lotus caught up to Lucas, and successfully delivered the Parcel to Tomato. She also found out about a campaign for Pokétch (I've always hated that name) and hunted down clowns for coupons. She aced each question, and earned herself a Pokétch!

~ Route 204 ~
Detour! First encounter on 203 was Starly, but the second was a Bidoof! Oooh. Lotus caught it and named it Potato, because what other kinda name was she gonna give it to him (IT LOOKS LIKE A POTATO!) Whether he'll end up as a HM slave or a valued member of the team~?! That's what we'll see as we move on!

~ Route 203 ~
Fight against Tomato!

Starly:
Okra, who's now lv10, has a speed advantage over the poor Starly. Took a few Bubbles to wear it down, between Growls and one Quick Attack.

Turtwig:
Sent Celery out; he has Wing Attack. Turtwig tried to turtle and use Withdraw, both times. The first time, Wing Attack took out 50% of its HP. The second time, it crit. Good job, Celery!

Our first encounter was... ohgodanAbralikewat. Now or never; I hit a Pokéball in hopes to catch it, you never really know. I don't have a move to Sleep it, or to prevent it from leaving the area. Of course, Abra teleported out. Well there goes my encounter.

Trainer fights went relatively well; nothing special here.

~ Oreburgh Cave ~
Lotus was stopped by a big burly mountain man as she entered. He handed her HM06 (Rock Smash) as she looked like a newbie to him. Yay, our first HM!... which Lotus can't use yet, as she doesn't have the badge. But yay, HM.

We got our first encounter near the end of the cave. A Geodude. Since I avoided Bubble as it would have probably OHKOed the poor thing, I sent Celery out and spammed Wing Attack. Geodude, on the other end, spammed Defense Curl. It was nearly flawless. Except when I switched to Quick Attack and crit. I'm missing 3 encounters right now. Painful. Part of the game though, so Lotus and I will have to roll with it.

~ Oreburgh ~
WHAT?! Tomato got his Gym badge and the leader took off to the mine?! UNFAIR! DOWN TO THE MINE, LOTUS! Tell 'im what you think!!

~ Oreburgh Mine ~
Zubat, yay! I know, I know, but I love Crobat. Would be a nice addition to my team, that is, until I hit the Electric gym, since so far, my entire team's evo lines have a weakness to electricity. Beautiful. Anyways, Zubat was caught and has been renamed to Yam. Yummy yams. I would have named him Frank because I really miss my Crobat named Frank from a previous (failed) Nuzlocke.

Lotus found Roark deep inside the mine, breaking rocks with *gasp* Rock Smash! Since he has a new challenger, Roark went back to his gym, where Lotus met back wth him.

~ Oreburgh Gym ~
Younger Johnaton has one Geodude, and it was a OHKO by Okra's Bubble. Youngster Darius' Geodude and Onix suffered the same fate. Okra the Bubble Devastator!

~ Roarke ~
Geodude:
OHKO by Bubble.

Onix:
It tried a Rock Throw and missed. Okra's Bubble brought it down to maybe 3-4 HP, only for Roarke to use a Potion on it. Bubbles then KOed it.

Cranidos:

Well here is something I forgot... ow. I'm a level under with my highest and erf, he's painful. Hits like a truck, has Leer, Pursuit and Headbutt... and caused the first casualty on my run: Potato. I thought I'd sent it out and spam Defense Curl... but I forgot he still didn't learn any Water attack. I swapped back to Okra after its death. Spamming Pursuit, however, was Cranidos' demise. Okra leveled to 14 right after the fight, but nnfffff I LOST MY POTATO AND I'M SAD.

You fought decently, Potato. Your death was a mistake, it could have been avoided, and I'm sorry DX. I feel bad about it...

But the show continues. Badge in hand, Lotus went back to the Pokécenter, said heartfelt goodbyes to Potato (I'M STILL SORRY) and deposited it in the PC, never to be brought again.

Let's see what the future has in store for us...~

Update #3: Potato-less journey towards Route 205
Spoiler:

After the death of Potato, Lotus had to catch an HM slave - I know it's coming up. It's currently boxed, and I'm not using it in fights.

I took forever to find where I'm going again. Tomato mentioned a bike, but I couldn't find a bike shop in Jubilife, so I went back to Oreburgh. Back to Jubilife. And up. Down, back to Oreburgh, and back to Jubilife... ... ... only to remember that I had Rock Smash, and there was a cave that needed it near Jubilife...

~ Ravaged Path ~
That was short. Really short. I didn't even have an encounter~... to the point where I backtracked after the Valley Windworks.

(Took a few encounters to find something that wasn't a Zubat. Talking about Zubat, Yam crit again while facing a Geodude, but this time, we caught it! Truffles the Geodude was added to the team! I was using one as an HM slave... well I have a full-fledged Geodude now. Also Makes me a lot less vulnerable to Electric stuff.)

Outside of the Ravaged Path, on the northern area of Route 204, there's the twins with the Pachirisu. I was so scared one of those knew something like Thunderbolt or another Electric attack. Thankfully, they didn't.

~ Floaroma Town ~
Heal my team, grabbed the sprinkler, a berry, the Pluck TM, and Lotus moved on.

~ Route 205 ~
Near the bridge, Lotus was stopped by a little girl, whose father went missing around Valley Windworks. Worried, she asked Lotus to help her find him... and Lotus couldn't say no to the little girl.

~ Valley Windworks ~
New area, new Pokémon possibility! Only one encounter to get something new... a Buizel. Because I obviously needed another weakness to Electric. We caught Kelp, and hopefully she'll fit in the team. (This is the point I realized I didn't encounter anything in the Ravaged Path, and well, Truffles should help a bunch now).

Defeated the grunt guarding the Windworks, and... grinded until I figured out where I was going.

~ Floaroma Meadow ~
Oops! Lotus is a witness to two Grunts harrassing a man. Without thinking, she walked up right to them, and handed their butts right back to them. Truffles, despite being a little underleveled, fought very well against the first Grunt. For the second one, I switched to Celery, and swiftly dealt with him.

As a reward, Lotus got the Works Key, along with a pot of delicious Honey.

~ Valley Windworks (inside) ~
Lotus used the Key and opened the Works building. The Grunts around were quite easy... okay, the single Grunt Lotus faced.

Then there was the fight against Mars. Zubat went down, no problem. But Purugly...

… OHKOed Celery. Yep, I'm mad. The Purugly's also at a higher level than my team, but OMG CELERY. I sent Okra out; Scratch took out nearly half of its HP. I restored Truffle's HP and sent him out instead; he should be able to... tank Scratch (BARELY). Faint Attack, however, was what she used against him. Twice. I healed up, spammed Defense Curl while tanking Scratch, healed up again, and just prayed that Scratch wouldn't crit often. It did crit the first time, but it got better afterwards. At half HP, Purugly's Oran Berry kicked in. Scratch crit again, but I had stacked up on Potions. Tackle missed a few times, while Scratch and Faint Attack never missed. It took a long time to wear it down, BUT WE DID! Truffles hit 11 after, and learned Rock Throw... which would have probably made this fight a tad faster.

BUT OMG, I LOST CELERY!! DX...

I made it back to the Pokécenter after the fight, and deposited my poor, poor Celery in the PC. Time to head towards Route 205 now...

~ Route 205 ~
I'm still mad I lost Celery DX. Our first non-dupe encounter was Pachirisu~ here's another I never took the time to look at – a bit like Minun in Gen III (and my Minun in AS destroyed stuff~). I came this close to KO it though, as Truffles crit for over half of its HP. Pepper had 1HP left as we caught her. And yes, her name is Pepper XD;;.

I chose to level up Lotus' team a bit, but it backfired... and backfired hard. I lose 2 Pokémon going up Route 205. I came across a lv11 Geodude, and sent Kelp at lv7. He was handling it fine with a speed advantage, but a moment of distraction to answer to my mom led to its demise... I use Water Sports instead of Water Gun, and Rock Throw killed him DX. Not even 5 minutes after, I sent Truffles out by complete mistake; the Shellos I was facing used Mud Sport and lowered Truffle's accuracy. The very last Tackle that I needed missed, and Shellos used Water Pulse.

On a happier note, Okra evolved into a beautiful Prinplup~

Next update should be the... upcoming place! I believe it has something to do with a cave, but I'm not sure.

Update #5: Worst encounter ever - CHALLENGE FAILED
Spoiler:

When I said my team was gonna be a nightmare against Electrics... well it happened a lot faster than I thought.

On my way back, I got into a trainer fight by mistake. I didn't expect her to have a Shinx and even less a Pachirisu (I wasn't expecting the fight at all, so I didn't look at the amount of Pokémon she had anyways). I took the Shinx down - had to use my last heal item on Pepper. After Shinx, I cringed as she sent out Pachirisu. Since mine has no Electric attacks and hasn't learned one since I had caught her, I didn't really expect hers to have one either... so I swapped over to Okra.

That's when I saw Sparks. It paralyzed him, because of course. I didn't even get to attack once, Okra was dead in 2 hits. I didn't wanna send Pepper again, so my next choice was... the Zubat, Yam. At least he has Bite. It wasn't as effective as I thought, and Sparks OHKOed him. I have a "it's not over till it's over" mindset, so I tried to find with Pepper. Took a while to bring her down, as the opponent's Pachirisu kept spamming Charm. Which did nothing to my only physical attack, as I felt couldn't rely on Bide.

So I failed, and graaaaaah all the dumb mistakes I did. And the nasty crits. Seriously, the amount of crits was too high.

Anyways, I'm restarting this challenge.

-No Full Restores. Hyper Potions should be enough...if I last that long.
-Win.

Episode 1: "I swear, if I lose this time-"

Spoiler:
So, lately, I've had a very bad track record with losing lockes. Sapphire Randomizer, I got swept by a Sharpedo due to a bad play. Liquid Crystal, double crit in Episode 1. Yellow Randomizer, Haunter walled my main source of offence and blew my team apart with Crabhammers. Three horrible losses, and that's not counting my White 2 Challenge Mode locke, which I lost because of the infamous Locke Killer. I will not lose this time! Now, with my failures out the window, let's move on to real business.

Personally, I don't like the female character design in this game, so we're going with a guy this time.

Ladies and gentlemen, Tatsuya Suou.

And seeing as Tatsuya's Personas all learn Agi skills, I figure we should use the Fire type starter, Tepig. Let's be honest here, we already know what I'm going to nickname it.

But before we get to that, let's wreck some scrubs.

Now officially introducing Vulcanus the Tepig. May he survive a long time in our time in the Unova region...owait, I just realized I misspelled it. Welp, great things are bound to come if I'm already making dumb mistakes like that.

Team Tatsuya

It is time...to update Black.

Episode 2: Bad Natures Galore

Spoiler:
So after more tutorials on stuff I already know, it is time at last for our first encounter, which is going to be...

http://i.imgur.com/TAF2NiY.png
A Patrat. To be honest, it's not spectacular, but it's whatever. I guess it's the standard first team member, so I'll roll with it.

http://i.imgur.com/VHUYoB6.png
Say hello to Gry the Patrat. Yes, I decided to go with a Persona 1 skill this time since it lacks moves that hit multiple targets at the beginning, so ye. Since it started out at Lv. 2, it's time for a mini grind session to prepare for N, who from this point forth will be known as Messiah because I don't know.

Speaking of Messiah, we just bodied him and his Purrloin. rip Messiah's Purrloin. You shall be missed. Now that Messiah was bodied for the time being, let's move onto the next route and get ourselves an encounter. Let's hope for something good.

Another Normal type. Ugh, fine. I'll go with it. I swear, if this becomes a Normal monotype, I'm going to scream.

http://i.imgur.com/Klh2m1a.png
But let's put my own personal vocal destruction aside and nickname this Lillipup. Frei the Lillipup, folks. Another Force skill from Persona 1.

A wild scrub rival appeared...and got bodied. GGs Bianca. Now, how about we go and get our free Pansage...

http://i.imgur.com/HM2AU3X.png

So for once, I decided to nickname one of my mons after an actual character in the series. I went with Masao Inaba, one of your main party members in the main quest of Persona 1. I thought Pansage would suit him well. Anyway, with that aside, I have another scrub to destroy.

http://i.imgur.com/3KCTNgG.png

Take my word for it, he got bopped too. Onward to the gym!

http://i.imgur.com/dsoVb7w.png

Believe it or not, this was a pretty close call. Frei got crit by a Bite when Lillipup was only +1 and lived with low HP, Vulacnus almost got bodied since Lillipup managed to get to +3, and then I got a low roll on my Vine Whip when it should've killed the Panpour. Nobody died, though, so that's a victory in my book. Now that nobody's dead, let's go deal with Messiah's goons and get an encounter for the Dreamyard.

rip Messiah's goons. Anyway, let's get an encounter. I'm hoping for something good.

http://i.imgur.com/73dbv9I.png

You know, I think I'm gonna stop asking for something good because it just jynxs me and I get garbage like this.

http://i.imgur.com/iA8AMca.png

Introducing Nekomata the Purrloin. I know that Nekomata is typically classed as female, but we'll just have to roll with it. Now, all that remains is one encounter and one scrub to fight...again.

http://i.imgur.com/8hjSEvE.png

http://i.imgur.com/aEvAERH.png

Masao crit the Oshawott twice. Need I say more? Anyway, let's go and get an encounter, bop more of Messiah's goons, and get a second encounter.

http://i.imgur.com/zZmYiyA.png

.....I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

http://i.imgur.com/ICclAO9.png
Garu, Pidove, likely getting boxed. Let's go let off some steam by destroying Messiah's goons.

http://i.imgur.com/Lko7JSs.png

I swear to Arceus almighty, if you have a bad nature...

http://i.imgur.com/KBAkSQY.png

Anyway, say hello to our second demon/Persona team member, Ubelluris. I'm sure I spelled it right this time. Sure, I'll never have a Gigalith because trade evo and I was too stupid to put this rom through the randomizer, but we'll see how far this goes.

http://i.imgur.com/SBwGXFW.png

Welp, he's totally staying. Good nature for what he is for once, unlike almost everything else I've caught today.

rip Messiah's goons: Episode 2.
