This is it. Time to do Lenora.

Episode 3 - Lenora Time

Spoiler:
So, after some grinding, everyone is up to Lv. 16 and Frei even evolved into Herdier. Best part, she got Intimidate, which totally makes up for the fact I got a Modest Lillipup. Now, that aside, let's go and head off to get our next encounter for outer Pinwheel Forest.

http://i.imgur.com/ZHt1pvw.png

So after running into two Pidoves, we get ourselves a Tympole. Honestly, it wouldn't be bad...if I didn't have Masao, who can do most of the work of a Water type already, and doesn't die against Electric types.

http://i.imgur.com/7kxRdzP.png

Please note this is not a Kingdom Hearts reference. There's seriously a Water skill type in Personas 1 and 2. I was going to go with Malaqua, but there are other Water types out there to catch. If it's nature sucks, I'm boxing it since Masao covers the job Aqua could potentially have. I'll consider using her, though.

http://i.imgur.com/pFfiCod.png

And while I was destroying the trainers for some experience, Vulcanus has transfigured into Vulcanus Prime. Ye. Now, with that out of the way, let's go fight Messiah again.

http://i.imgur.com/4Pn96Yg.png

http://i.imgur.com/4qOuSE2.png

rip Messiah Part 2. Now, with that aside, let's get to the stressful part.

http://i.imgur.com/FswgOiJ.png

Mother of god, this was a stressful one. I'm always afraid of Lenora in lockes because if you make a misplay, you get destroyed. Herdier crit turn 1 and took off half of Urbelluris' HP, then it turned into a slow Rock Blast and Super Potion grind to kill that. Watchhog, as always, was the real threat. I almost lost Vulcanus because I forgot Retaliate was a thing. Luckily, though, nobody died. I can leave this gym with that accomplishment.

http://i.imgur.com/glJIKw9.png

Ugh, Messiah's goons again. Looks like we'll have to go and bop them again before we can end this part off. Along with that, I can pick up my inner Pinwheel Forest encounter.

http://i.imgur.com/9LoMOIh.png

But before we get to bopping Messiah's goons, let's go and catch ourselves this...Sewaddle. It's getting boxed.

http://i.imgur.com/3E8WoEx.png http://i.imgur.com/BQQdOv3.png http://i.imgur.com/FkysKQe.png http://i.imgur.com/Tpfay7J.png

rip Messiah's goons Round 3. Although...along the way, Vulcanus had met his untimely end. I was fighting a trainer's Pansage and it paralyzed with Lick the first hit. Right after that, I seriously, and I am not joking here, got paralyzed every single time I tried to use Flame Charge to OHKO the thing. That combined with Leech Seed and five Fury Swipes hits ended it.

Vulcanus (Tepig) ♂ Lv. 5-19 @ Nothing
Nature: Hardy
Ability: Blaze
Moves: Tackle, Arm Thrust, Flame Charge, Defense Curl
Poor, poor, Vulacnus. First, I misspell your name, then you die from hax. You really got screwed, and this has been the cheapest death I've had in a locke in a while. Rest in peace, Vulacnus. You shall be avenged once we destroy all the Pokemon Rangers in the Unova region. Ghetsis 2012-I mean 2016.

I don't know if anyone has noticed, but Volga gave ownership of both of his challenges (This and Duo-Species) to me, due to him not being able to update them anymore.

Anyways, I updated the main post, if I missed anything, let me know.

And, is it normal that people sign up, then never come back to update?

People sometimes only come back to update when they either finish or fail the challenge. It's pretty common with challenges.

Happy to finally see my name in the champion list and welcome to the challenge :]

Unfortunately it is normal for people to never come back to update. I've been off and on in charge of the solo challenge thread for years and there are still challenges that haven't been updated from before I started.

Update 1:

Spoiler:
I started Blue in work, after deciding to do a Nuzlocke run on it. Since there was no way for me to see my trainer number before I picked my starter, I used RNG to pick one, and wound up with Charmander (Anderson). Which is okay.

After giving Oak his parcel and buying Poke balls, I caught a Pidgey (Jacques) on Route 1. Then went and got a female Nidoran (Ria) on Route 22. After catching these two, I decided to do some training before the second Rival fight.

Stuck my GameBoy SP into my pocket while it was still on, and my game reset. I lost all my progress except getting Anderson.

So I had to replay everything, but I still wound up with Jacques and Ria. And still decided to train them before the second Rival fight. Which is where I left off, making sure to obsessively save this time!

Here's episode 8, the most recent episode of my Pokémon Ruby Nuzlocke!!

(See the series so far here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LhhfMnBDYA&index=2&list=PLCpRzBB8fuxfez6Gtc-KzMa3yopMzu8OP)

A brief summary of episodes 1-7:

Spoiler:
We started with our wonderful Treecko called 'Ecco', ready to set out on a glorious adventure. However, the game had other ideas. After catching two Zigzagoon ('Ziggy' and 'Casper') and a Taillow ('Fitzgerald'), our wonderful Ecco was taken from us by the most thuggish of Youngsters, with his level 8 Taillow getting a crit! (R.I.P.)

However, we somehow managed to rally and take down Roxanne in emphatic style through a combination of Harden and Confusion, put to brilliant use by 'Viola' our Dustox.

Along with 'Jonah Hill' the Whismur and another Taillow called 'Carla', we have delivered the letter to Steven, and are ready to try our hand at another gym...

Astinus February 25th, 2016 7:36 PM

I got distracted by Pokemon Puzzle Challenge!

Update #2 for Blue Nuzlocke

Spoiler:

Ria's turning out to be a valuable member of the team. She and Jacques worked together to defeat our rival with some ease. We headed up to Viridian Forest, where I hoped to catch a Caterpie for the upcoming fight against Brock.

I killed the first Caterpie we came across.

So I decided to get right back to training, and got everyone up to level 15. Along the way, I popped into the grass of Route 2 to see what I could get. Nugget the Rattata joined the team and was quickly leveled up to 15.

It was time to face Brock. Again, Ria was the key here. She used Growl on Brock's two Pokemon, weakening their attacks enough that Anderson could safely Leer and Ember them. With the Bolder Badge in hand, we headed to Route 4, battling the trainers and catching Highwind the Spearow along the way. Because I had no foresight and passed up the Magikarp.

Mt. Moon was easy, and mostly everyone got to fight, most rising up to level 20. Except for Highwind and Bartolo the Zubat, who were shoved into the reserves. I grabbed the Helix Fossil on the way out of Mt. Moon, reached Cerulean City, and faced off against the rival for the third time.

The battle was kind of difficult, due to the rival's Rattata's Hyper Fang and the rival's Pidgeotto. But, again, Ria held everything together, joined by Jacques and Nugget to win the fight.

And then I got tired of playing for the day.

So like an idiot, I forgot to save after grinding the first time, so I had to go back and redo grinding. Took me a bit, but it's done and the team is ready...for the next update.

Episode 4 - Burgh Gets Bodied

Spoiler:
Now with grinding out of the way and the one building with all the trainers cleared out offscreen, let us go and deal with, you guessed it, even more of Messiah's goons.

http://i.imgur.com/5xNzI9u.png

rip Messiah's goons part...5? I'm already losing track of how many times we've sent Messiah's goons packing. Speaking of packing, let's send Burgh packing too because he's bad.

http://i.imgur.com/9kCUyWt.png

http://i.imgur.com/9p0cwoL.png

My god, this was the easiest gym battle ever. Rock Blast absolutely murdered Whirlipede and I double crit Levanney to death. Dwebble was just a single Bubblebeam to oblivion and that was it. Seriously, I knew Burgh was bad, but I didn't know having a Rock type basically broke this battle. Since I totally broke this battle, let's go get the newest rival battles done.

http://i.imgur.com/yv02Rek.png

http://i.imgur.com/ZJBXLdm.png

To be honest, Bianca was more annoying than Cheren. That's beside the point, though, since they're both scrubs. Let's get an encounter and have a grand old time.

http://i.imgur.com/0gfjDaw.png

And while I was hoping for a Sandile to make my life against Clay's Excadrill easier, I get this thing instead. Sure, it could replace Vulacnus, but I don't really want another Fire type...for now.

http://i.imgur.com/G7E53jn.png

Say hello to Agilao the Darumaka...who is getting boxed. Anyway, onward to the Desert Resort.

http://i.imgur.com/7w6x0gH.png

So after two more Darumaka runins, I finally found the mon I wanted.

http://i.imgur.com/ogpgBNR.png

That aside, this time, I went with another Persona 1 character name. Introducing Reiji Kido, our Sandile, ladies and gentlemen. Anyway, with that aside, I'm going to skip my Relic Castle encounter, even though I know there's a fossil there I can get. Since I have to go back there later anyway, I can kill two birds with one stone. Let's head on over to Nimbasa.

http://i.imgur.com/Zb4JiI1.png

...and run into more of Messiah's goons, part 6...I think. Doesn't matter since the next round with Messiah in the flesh is coming up, but before that...we got two encounters to grab. Route 16 and Lostlorn Forest.

http://i.imgur.com/glQkrgc.png

.....We start with a bad mon in this gen. Fantastic.

http://i.imgur.com/i2lFOBA.png

Obvious name for a Poison type. It's getting boxed without a doubt :P

http://i.imgur.com/IAndtA1.png

And in Lostlorn Forest, I found the basic replacement for Masao in case he dies somehow in a magical incident.

http://i.imgur.com/cRrnYVL.png

Now, with this one, I went with another Persona for a nickname. It's male, and it's Grass type, so I figured I'd go with Narcissus of the Lovers Arcana. Anyway, let's go fight Messiah for the third time.

http://i.imgur.com/HE9F0TP.png

http://i.imgur.com/g7PqQqL.png

We beat Messiah, but without a loss this time. Ubelluris died from his Sigilyph's Psybeam even with Eviolite. It didn't die from a Power Gem and it was a clean crit that ended him. Why is it that when a team member puts in work in the gym, it gets killed. Maybe this is a sign, and the worst part is now my "kill all the Emolgas before they pull annoying business with Volt Switch" strategy is out the window.

http://pldh.net/media/pokemon/gen5/blackwhite_animated_front/525.gif
Ubelluris (Boldore) ♂ Lv. 11-26 @ Eviolite
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Sturdy
Moves: Smack Down,Mud-Slap, Power Gem, Headbutt
Is this karma or something? Did he deserve to die this way because of how easily I swept the third gym? It's not fair. First, Vulacnus gets hax'd, and now Ubelluris dies from a crit. I feel like karma is trying to tell me something. My resolve to destroy Messiah's soul has now grown a lot. He will be bodied, and Ubelluris' death will not be in vain.

Welp...looks like I'll need to grind up a replacement member for Ubelluris...and grind for the next gym now that I beat Messiah. I'm so sad right now.

Does trading with NPC's in game constitute a violation to Rule #3?

No, it just counts as a capture for that area.

For example, if you trade for the Onix in Violet City in GSC/HGSS, then it counts as a capture for Violet City.
But if you catch the Bellsprout on, for example, Route 31, then trade for the Onix, you do NOT get an extra catch for Route 31.

Ooh OK. Thanks for the quick reply

Update:
Caught a Slakoth in pedalburg woods, named her Mrs Bunns
Caught a Wurmple in RT N104 and named it Winple

Traded in game to get Makit the Makuhita who decided not to listen to me since acquiring....
Defeated Roxanne mostly using John Cena's water gun.

Caught a Whismur in Rusturf Tunnel lvl1 and named him Greed (boxed)
Caught a Tentacruel in RT107 with the old rod and named him Lewd (boxed)
Caught a Magikarp in Dewford Town with the old rod and named him Lucky (boxed)
Caught a Magikarp in RT106 with the old rod and named him Gyro (boxed)
Caught a Zubat in Granit Cave lvl1 and named him DaBoss (boxed)
Defeated Brawly with just my Taillow finally getting Wing Attack from defeated the trainer right before Brawly... it basically went "Wing attack - Bulk UP - Wing attack *Dead* NEXT! Wing attack - Bulk UP - Wing Attack *Dead* free badge~~
Current team: lvl 15 Nibbles/Poochyena, lvl 15 Flappy/Taillow @Quick Claw, lvl 15 Picker/Zipzagoon, lvl 15 Winple/Dustox, lvl 17 John Cena/Mudkip, lvl 18 Makit/Makuhita
Almost lost Flappy to the second trainer of Brawly's gym due to a wtfcrit for 30 of 33 health, but so far no deaths.(not including failed catches)
Update#3
Won the Cool Contest with Flappy - netting me a Pikachu gift.
Caught a Voltorb on Rt 110 and named it Bad Gag Gift - In doing so my Poochyena evolved into Mightyena.
Defeated May, RIP Flappy... died from being trapped in a whirlpool and getting rollout stacks higher than could be healed through. Unfortunately the whirlpool trapped for 5 turns and the 5th turn was what did Flappy in. This death also took the Quick Claw down with her.
Unboxed lvl9 DaBoss/Zubat since... I need someone that can fly eventually.
Defeated Wattson with only my lvl 23 Nibbles/Mightyena. Didn't stand a chance.
Current team: lvl 13 DaBoss/Zubat, lvl 22 Picker/Linoone, lvl 23 Winple/Dustox, lvl 23 Nibbles/Mightyena, lvl 24 John Cena/Marshtomp, and lvl 26 Makit/Hariyama.

Nuzlocke Challenge

Hey I'm starting kinda new to PokeCommunity. I've had my account for the last four years but haven't really posted or made a thread. I was hoping to get some suggestions for Nuzlocke Variant Challenge on my Pokemon Platinum. I would love to know what rules you use for a Nuzlocke Run.

UPDATE #18: ICE TO SEE YOU, TO SEE YOU ICE
Spoiler:
So, after literally months away, I'm back for more HeartGold Nuzlocke! Last time, we liberated the Radio Tower, Terra the Quagsire saved the day once again, and Justin the Espeon finally learned a Psychic-type move! With business in Cianwood City complete, I headed out along Route 44 towards Ice Path. After catching a Lickitung, whom I called Lulu, I battled the few trainers along the way before taking on the chilly cave.

Ice puzzles were never my thing, but I somehow managed to get hold of the Waterfall HM without too many issues. Amongst the Zubat and Golbat, I had my first unique encounter just before the first patch of ice: a Swinub, a Pokémon I used in my first Gold playthrough. This one I named Lars, and I resolved to train him in preparation for the next Gym. This plan, however, fell completely through when I reached Blackthorn City and remembered that Clair had — of all things — a Hydro Pump-using Kingdra. In fact, only Clair's Gyarados, ironically enough, was the only member of her team that wouldn't deal super-effective damage on an Ice/Ground-type like Lars. Balls. I needed a new plan.

With very few options available to me, I decided to pull Scarlett the shiny Gyarados out of the PC. With her learning Ice Fang within a few levels, she might stand a chance against Clair's Dragonair; Maxwell should be able to one-shot her Gyarados, and if he could paralyse Kingdra, we might have a chance of winning without casualties. Before that happens, though, we need to gain a heck of a lot more levels (seriously, the level curve at this point in the game is crazy), so I headed out to Route 45, where the first Pokémon I found (that wasn't a Geodude or Graveler — and yes, I'm still upset at losing Pavel) was a female Gligar; I called her Scorpia. The trainers along the route helped, but not by much, and I was forced to grind against the underlevelled wild Pokémon in the grass. This is going to take a while.

ETA (8:49 PM):
Spoiler:
OK, literally a minute after I finished posting this, I went and challenged the first trainer in Clair's Gym. Maxwell took out both of his Dratini without much difficulty, but then the trainer threw out a Seadra. The thing critted with Bubble Beam. I've lost Maxwell.

How the [EXPLETIVE REDACTED] am I meant to do this now?

I'm so sorry, Maxwell.

Started up my 3ds this morning. Continued on.
Psych had 2 close calls while levelling. 1 hp at the end of each battle.
Got to first gym, Muddy had her time to shine.

However sadly before Ruckus had a bad encounter against a seedot earlier and got taken out by Bide.

Current Team:
Muddy - Mudkip - lv. 14
Psych - Ralts - lv. 10
Sky - Taillow - lv. 11

Deceased:
Ruckus - Poochyena - lv. 8

For normal rules, there's really only three of them.

1. Any Pokémon that faints is considered dead, and must be released (or boxed).
2. Only the first encounter on each route can be caught, no second chances.
3. Trading is completely banned, but trading for the purpose of evolution is perfectly fine.

You can add in optional things to make things harder on yourself if you want to, but that's up to you. As for locke variants, you could do a monotype locke where you only use mons of one type, a Wedlocke run, in which yu could always check the Wedlocke Challenge thread for details on that one. Then there's m personal favorite, the randomizer nuzlocke. Sure, you'll have to be using an emulator for this one, so if you're using the physical copy, then you'll have to skip out on that one.

There's also the Eliminationlocke, where you pick six mons and can only use those six, so it kinda cancels out one of the traditional locke rules in which you can only catch the first encounter. Anyway, there are probably more locke varients out there, but the ones I mentioned are the more common ones.

And just so I'm staying on topic, I'm working on my next update.

Rules of Engagement:
- Nickname all Pokemon Caught.
- black/white out is a GG.
- Dupe Clause is in effect
- Shiny pokemons are exempted from the area-capture clause

Let' begin! BTW, I decided to play the normal soul silver game after trying to nuzlocke Drayano's Storm Silver. I got wiped thrice on three different playthroughs. The first with Faulkner's Fartfetch'd of destruction (I had no type coverage for his birds), the second time with my rival Tomato in Azalea with a freaking Hidden Power Earthquake Bayleef and the last time on Bugsy's gym with his Heracross that countered my poor Manda the Arbok. I considered trying again but after looking at nuzlocke's of Storm Silver I decided it's a game that cannot be beat while playing nuzlocke so I'm back with the original game. Sorry, I'm a wimp.

Anyone want to start a soul link Nuzlocke with me?

That Lucky Egg is sounding nicer by the day. For now, I endured the Audino grinding, got a new team member ready, and now it's time to destroy Elesa.

Episode 5 - Killing the Locke Killer

Spoiler:
I'm still sad about Ubelluris dying against N, but I'll move past it and get on with the show. We got another gym leader to destroy.

http://i.imgur.com/buhyrSz.png

http://i.imgur.com/BGtz5QX.png

Um...whoops. I overleveled and absolutely destroyed her. Shutting down Volt Switch with Ground types makes this battle an absolute joke, let's be honest. Anyway, now I think this is a good time to say that I'm doing this run with no knowledge of what each gym leader's levels are, so I'm jumping to assumptions when it comes to these. Explains how my whole team is Lv. 30 instead of around 28.

http://i.imgur.com/b25Vayr.png

Suddenly Cheren. He was easy as ever, especially considering my team is overleveled. Oh well, after dealing with him and the kids Alder wanted me to fight, it's time for our encounter.

http://i.imgur.com/BxQr3NS.png

Seriously, if this one was female, I would've named it Ayase. Oh well, I got another nickname ready for this one.

http://i.imgur.com/4nDH0Td.png

Let's be honest here, this thing's evolutions look like the type to inflict panic on someone. Anyway, time for the next encounter, which will be a Ducklett 100% of the time.

http://i.imgur.com/7cVOctP.png

Malaqus the Ducklett, ladies and gentlemen. It is doubtful he will ever see use. Anyway, let's go to Driftveil and meet the infamous Locke Killer.

http://i.imgur.com/PmbscaP.png

But before I can go get destroyed hardcore, I have to go destroy Messiah's goons in Cold Storage. Fantastic. But before I do that, I'm gonna go stock up on milk to replace my old Super Potions and get my Cold Storage encounter.

http://i.imgur.com/Yz4WP1V.png

I was hoping for an Ice type, but it looks like that's never going to happen in this locke. And yes, I put Poisma the Trubbish in the party, but that's beside the point. Minccino is pretty bad, so this encounter kinda screwed me.

http://i.imgur.com/g8Q7zoQ.png

So now, introducing Diarama the Minccino. With that out of the way, let's go destroy more of Messiah's goons.

http://i.imgur.com/T7h1Ulm.png

rip Messiah's goons...I think part 7. I didn't get all the pics. Whoops. Anyway, they all got bodied, so now it's time for the infamous Locke Killer.

http://i.imgur.com/Lnsex6B.png

http://i.imgur.com/1CMDMlv.png

As always, that Excadrill is a threat. Nearly killed Aqua with Slash. Other than that, the entire gym was filled with pushovers, even with Masao still being a Pansage. Anyway, I think now is a good time for an ending. I'll probably grind a bit more before Lucky Egg time, since it's coming very soon.

So much grinding. :(

Update #3 for Blue Nuzlocke
Spoiler:
It was time to train outside of Cerulean City! On Route 24, I caught a Caterpie and spent a few minutes debating before naming it CompBug. It joined the others and was raised to a level 22 Butterfree. Who then proceeded to help the rest of the team beat all the trainers on the way to Bill's house. And Nugget evolved!

After helping Bill and getting the SS Ticket, I headed down to Route 5. Hopping along the way, a wild Bellsprout appeared. I caught it and named it Driffs, and Driffs will be my weapon against Misty. So the trip continues on to Diglett's Cave, but we stopped for a while in Vermilion City.

Team:

And I'm currently way too tired to do attacks and everything.

I am about to a Nuzlocke Run on my Pokemon Yellow but instead of catching one Pokemon per route I can only use Pokemon you get as gifts. So the only Pokemon I can use will be the Pikachu, the Charmander, Bulbasaur and Squirtle lines, Aerodactyl, Eevee, Lapras, Hitmonchan or Hitmonlee and Omanyte or Kabuto. Hopefully i can make it past Pewter Gym without losing. Will have to grind to get Pikachu to level 20 before i can attempt Pewter Gym

I forgot where I left off here!

Spoiler:
I headed over to Route 11 to train Anderson and Ria to level 24. We also caught Baku the Drowzee. I knew they wouldn't do that well on the SS Anne. The others were fine, though. They enjoyed the bored trainers and their Pokemon, while I wondered how Nugget could use Dig on a ship.

But Nugget still had perfected his Dig, and we went into the Vermilion Gym to battle Lt. Surge. Nugget solo'd the Gym, using Dig and Hyper Fang to take down the opponent. It might have been a little easier if I had also caught a Diglett in Diglett's Cave, but those things are fragile and my Pokemon are a little too strong.

With Cut in hand, Driffs took down the bush blocking us from Route 9. It was an easy route to get through, since my team has some decent coverage.

I really hope this good luck lasts.

I also already started, so here's update #1:

Long story short, things have been rough so far. Trainers like Mars and Roark gave me lots of trouble, and I have already lost seven Pokemon in battle (Starly, Geodude, Wurmple, Ponyta, Zubat, Meditite, and Gastly.) I was especially sad to lose Doc (the Meditite). The good news is that I have arrived in Hearthome and still have a pretty solid team. Here they are:

http://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/6/6c/Spr_4d_394.png
Blackbird, Lv. 23
http://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/d/dd/Spr_4d_404_m.png

Piper, Lv. 23
http://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/4/42/Spr_4d_436.png
Muffin, Lv. 22

Hope they don't die too!

Started this run, my first proper nuzlocke, about a week ago but didn't feel the need to post because everything went very smoothly and I had just one casualty up until yesterday.

I just defeated Olympia. I led with my Vivillon as it was the only one with an advantage over the Psychic type. I wasn't expecting her to lead with Sigilyph so he needed some help there, but it went very smoothly afterwards. My current team:

http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/703.png Sibel | Lv. 46
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/448.png Storm | Lv. 47
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/006.png Olympus | Lv. 49
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/666.png Disco | Lv. 49
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/654.png Plume | Lv. 50
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/184.png Smurfe | Lv. 50

And in the graveyard...

http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/696.png Umpire | Lv. 24. I forgot where it died. Oops.
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/143.png Meave | Lv. 44. Died in Forst Cavern. I had just taught it Belly Drum, didn't turn out very well.
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/460.png Frostbite | Lv. 40. Girl had a short lived career on my team. I caught it, evolved it using a Rare Candy, and it died soon after in a battle versus Calem in front the Anistar City gym.

Edit:

My dear Carbink just passed away... Thought I'd quickly take out Lysandre's Murkrow with it, I was sure it would survive despite it being at 1/3 of its HP. I hadn't thought about Steel Wing... I feel really stupid now because the exact same thing has happened before. Man, this sucks.

L'Belle April 18th, 2016 7:22 AM

I just started a Pokémon Y Nulocke challenge. I picked Froakie as my starter.

- Got froakie
- Defeated Shauna pretty early
- First encounter Route 2 was Zigzagoon. But Froakie killed it with a crit tackle
- First encounter Santalune Forest was Caterpie. Caught it succesfully and grinded it up to level 5.

PokeHunterBlack April 19th, 2016 9:10 PM

Pokemon White Nuzlocke Challenge

Session 1

I chose Snivy (Alex) in the beginning and thrashed Bianca and Cheren. I got the PokéDex and on Route 1 I captured a Lillipup (Lily) and Patrat (Matt), before going to Acculmula Town I trained a bit before N. Which I almost lost Lily and Alex. I beat N and headed to Striaton City, where I got Panpour (Harry) and trained a bit before Chili.

Current Team
Alex (Snivy) Lvl 15
Lily (Lillipup) Lvl 15
Harry (Panpour) Lvl 14

PC
Matt (Patrat) Lvl 5

Session 2

After getting the 1st badge I went to Nacrene City after saving to little girls Pokémon from Team Plasma. A caught a few Pokémon along the way, like Dennis the Blitzle. After training a bit before taking on the Gym a faced Lenora and lost all my Pokémon! All of them, including the ones in the PC during the rematch!

Pokémon caught - 12 - Snivy, Herdier, Watchog, Purloin, Panpour, Munna, Pidove, Woobat, Throh, Tympole and Timburr

Badges - 1/8

Challenge Failed! I am not going to try again.

Next Up! The Anime Style Challenge!

Count April 21st, 2016 9:37 AM

Well, that was intense. The Elite Four didn't go as smoothly as initially anticipated.

Graveyard, pre-E4, with many deaths since last update:

Spoiler:
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/696.png Umpire | Lv.
I caught it, evolved it using a Rare Candy, and it died soon after in a battle versus Calem in front the Anistar City gym.
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/703.png Sibel | Lv. 47. At least it died fighting for justice, against Lysandre. His Murkrow's Steel Wing hit hard.
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/632.png Guillotine | Lv. 46. Sibel's replacement didn't last very long.
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/006.png Olympus | Lv. 49. Encountered an Aerodactyl with Stone Edge in a sky battle...
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/666.png Disco | Lv. 49. Yup, it got lil' Disco as well.
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/473.png Hersey | Lv. 50. Double battle on route 21.
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/217.png Mahogany | Lv 50. I was kind of excited to finally use an Ursaring, but sadly it didn't last long.
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/132.png Meringue | Lv. 50. It was actually kicking ass. Until, as a Zangoose, Close Combat's cost of dropped defenses had weakened it too much.

Went into the league with this as my team (don't know the levels they were at, I think 62-69):
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/576.png Annabelle
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/716.png Juvenile
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/108.png Enzyme
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/448.png Storm
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/654.png Plume
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/184.png Smurfe

It actually started off quite good. Got through Mr. Ironworks and Ms. Dragonmark rather easily, knowing the second half would be a bit tougher, but I thought I would do fine. And everything was fine, until Chandelure took the life of Smurfe with a critical Shadow Ball. I was relying on Smurfe to get through Mr. Flood without too many problems so that sucked.
In the battle with Mr. Flood, some more warriors fell... First to go was Annabelle, got hit by X-Scissor, I don't know what I was thinking. Storm also fainted, which had me in such a shock that I have no idea how it happened.

At this point I was already accepting my fate. I figured I was without a chance. But I refused to give up and faced Diantha, with just the following three:

http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/716.png Juvenile
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/108.png Enzyme
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/654.png Plume

Juvenile got through Hawlucha and Tyrantrum very easily. For Aurorus, I figured my best bet would be Enzyme with Power-Up Punch, which eventually got it down, leaving it with a whopping +6 Attack. I was getting hopeful. It got Goodra down with a single Strength, but Pumpkaboo would be too hard to take down, so it had to make room for Plume. I realized that if I used Light Screen, I could use Juvenile's Geomancy later on, after which taking down Mega Gardevoir would be a piece of cake. Plume took down Pumpkaboo with a Flamethrower, and it was time for Juvenile vs. Gardevoir. With Light Screen on, it turned out to be even easier than expected to set up for taking down Gardevoir. And thus we succeeded.

http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/716.png Juvenile | Lv. 64
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/108.png Enzyme | Lv. 65
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/654.png Plume | Lv. 70

Not bad, if I may say so myself.

(Fun fact: Enzyme died during the battle with the tall guy).

The end.

Update #1

Found first shiny Pokemon after 600+ encounters. This is my "starter" Pokemon.

EV trained Teek on Poochyena and other Zigzagoon until I could get to Petalburg City and unlock the Super Training. Used Super Training to max out Attack and Speed, with the remainder in HP. Now I am in Petalburg Woods trying to get a shiny Shroomish. Leveled Teek to 11.

I finally have time to post that I started my Diamond playthrough. No, I have not finished any others. I'm still in the middle of Blue and started Emerald, but I just really wanted to explore through Sinnoh again.

Started my game up, and my Trainer ID showed that I was going to choose Chimchar as my starter. Things went well enough, and I caught a wide variety of decent Pokemon already. The journey isn't going too badly, though it is still just the beginning. I only have one badge, and saved in Floaroma Town. I'm just trying to get some members of the team trained so I'm not always relying on a select few.

FINAL UPDATE

So, after many months I finally completed my first Nuzlocke from Gen VI game. I don't know how to take screenshots on 3Ds, so I can't post here my Hall of Fame, but here's my final team...

I have to say that whole Nuzlocke was pretty hard, because majority of Pokemon I encounter were Fairy, Normal, Bug and Steel types... And they were all really average Pokemon. I had no Fire Pokemon aside my starter. Almost every death was caused by crit or miss. But it was fun :D

Team:

http://randompokemon.com/sprites/animated/40.gif

Kanye, the male Wigglytuff
lvl 70
- Thunderbolt
- Flamethrower
- Wake-up Slap
- Dazzling Gleam

http://randompokemon.com/sprites/animated/306.gif

Ryoma, the male Aggron

Teek, male Zigzagoon
LVL: 16
Ability: Quick Feet, Nature: Hasty
-Echoed Voice
- Baby-Doll Eyes
- Headbutt
- Tail Whip

Got tired of trying to shiny hunt for a Shroomish and decided to take on the Rock gym at level 12. Brought a PokeNav Shroomish with Drain Punch and PokeNav Taillow with Steel Wing, but didn't need them funnily enough.

Teek was able to sweep all of the Geodudes with Echoed Voice and his King's Rock item. Only when I got to Roxanne did I have to use potions and Baby-Doll Eyes to survive her Nosepass chucking rocks at me.

Took on Brawly's gym after getting Water Pulse on my tentacool. Had to heal after a few Seismic Toss attacks on Brawly's Machop, but took it out after a Super Potion. Switched into Gyarados for the Makuhita, and took it out with one Tackle.

Update #4

Tried for a few hours to PokeNav a shiny Geodude in Granite Cave, with no luck, so decided to train up my Pokemon to around level 21 each on my way to Mauville from Slateport. Beat up on Brandon's team rather easily. Took out his Wailmer with a few Bite attacks on Gyarados, then switched into Linoone for Pin Missile on his Shroomish. Switched into Gyarados for his Combusken for the -Atk, then to my Tentacool to spam Water Pulse. Tentacool was the best counter for Combusken and it really didn't stand a chance even with Tentacool being low defense.

Thankfully they had the Bulldoze TM at the PokeMart, so I picked that up along with Confide, Charge Beam, and Dragon Tail. Taught Dragon Tail and Bulldoze to Gyarados, and Confide to my other two Pokemon. Teek also learned Charge Beam for future use.

Gym Report:
Was worried that I was using Lucky Incense instead of Soft Sand on Gyarados, but he swept the trainers easily.

Led with Gyarados thinking Wattson would have a few Magnemites. Used Bulldoze on the Magnemite and took it down to Sturdy. Took the Volt Switch from it and stayed in against the Voltorb. Chanced that I would outspeed Voltorb and used Bulldoze, but I didn't. Thankfully, Voltorb only used Charge so my Bulldoze took it out. Wattson brought out Magnemite again so I stayed in and used Bite predicting the healing item. Used Bulldoze to finish off Magnemite. Switched to Teek for Magneton, since I wasn't sure I would outspeed and didn't know if it had Sturdy or not, and used Confide through a lot of confusion and potions (Supersonic) and swapped back into Gyarados for Intimidate. Finally took Magneton out in one Bulldoze after switching in a few times to avoid confusion. Phew! Was worried about this gym :D

Oh great, it's time for my favorite part of Black and White 1, the unholy trinity of Chargestone Cave, Celestial Tower, and Twist Mountain. This is going to be a grand old time.

Episode 6 - The Part Above is Blatant Sarcasm. I hate this part of the game.

Spoiler:
So last time, we conquered the Locke Killer without any deaths (surprisingly). It's time to move onto Chargestone Cave and get that almighty and all powerful Lucky Egg that will make my grind sessions so much faster.

http://i.imgur.com/NZnSj3d.png

http://i.imgur.com/tk3ZdLr.png

Suddenly Bianca. She's still easy as always. It's pretty pathetic, really. Anyway, she got bodied and I got the HM for Fly for wasting my time to destroy her team. If only I had a mon that could fly. Oh well, our next route's encounter is waiting.

http://i.imgur.com/Dts9A6C.png

...Box. It's bad.

http://i.imgur.com/powjpQK.png

As you can tell, I'm just trying to get the unholy trinity done and over with. Let's get Chargestone Cave over with. The sooner, the better.

http://i.imgur.com/bU1PHbS.png

So after a lot of scientists, Deerlings, ninjas, and Messiah telling me more of his goons are up ahead, it's time for our Chargestone Cave encounter, which, conveniently enough, is a Joltik. I'd been considering boxing Gry if I got an Electric type, and it looks like Gry's time has come for a while.

http://i.imgur.com/4oqF3Qe.png

Say hello to Zionga the Joltik, ladies and gentlemen. Now, let's go destroy more of Messiah's goons.

http://image.prntscr.com/image/06f9a42448504ef29d75d05405485fa5.png http://image.prntscr.com/image/ca634469eb854217ae4e18dc4fa0622c.png http://image.prntscr.com/image/b550e8903d3e4aedabdea06fab17b42a.png http://image.prntscr.com/image/b00affe3afbf4a5e9f043573e5c2bf36.png http://image.prntscr.com/image/91fe491243e149bfafc86ff0a77f4271.png http://image.prntscr.com/image/61a260923dbc420a9220d3bb00e0578a.png http://image.prntscr.com/image/ea4f4030ce984014b68551572f264a89.png

rip Messiah's goons. Actually, speaking of Messiah, I think it's time we faced off with him for the final time before the endgame...at least I think so.

http://image.prntscr.com/image/6ae50fb5520047359addb7eaf72b4407.png

http://image.prntscr.com/image/121756f74b6b46a48b41597f1ecad9e0.png

To be honest, other than his Ferroseed, his entire team got absolutely destroyed. rip Messiah. With that, the first of the unholy trinity is complete. Let's move on and get our next encounter before we end things off this time.

http://image.prntscr.com/image/4e806ae3f61a4d5aa91da4efbce760f7.png

Why do I even bother hoping for good mons at this point? Oh well, I may as well take it. The more replacements for Masao in case he gets bodied, the better, but I would've loved a Zebstrika.

http://image.prntscr.com/image/8ac6714de42a46eea49197a071e7c66d.png

So since it's a mushroom, and mushroom spores do various things in various games, I went with Dormina for this one's nickname. Not sure why, though. Mostly because there are no mushroom Personas I know of. But now that we got that covered, I think now is a perfect time to end this part off since I'm gonna have to grind up Zionga for the next gym.

The season is continuing for my Diamond Nuzlocke team! Training is going well, except Colon was slow to raise for a little while. She didn't have a lot of good moves, but things became easier once she evolved to Bibarel.

Cespedes took on the second gym essentially all by herself. Fury Cutter is doing really well for her. Things are getting a little too dangerous for Rivera, who has just terrible luck.

And life would just be really great once Reed evolves.

But the team is doing well, and we're still exploring Route 207. Mt. Coronet is next on the list.

I haven't had much time or energy to get much done, but I played for a while today.

I shouldn't play when I'm tired.

We finished off Route 207 and Mt. Coronet without any issue. The team was doing really well, playing off each other and covering weaknesses. But the closer we came to Solaceon Town, the more I started to get worried. I wanted to keep the team's levels on an even level, and I was relying on Harvey too much. So when I saw that the next fight was a double battle against a Misdreavus and a Murkrow, I thought that Wright could handle the Murkrow while Cespedes whittled at the Misdreavus.

Murkrow took out Cespedes with a Critical Hit Wing Attack because Wright wasn't doing enough damage.

She fittingly died in the Lost Tower.

On the plus side, Reed evolved.

(Before any assumptions are made, no, I'm not giving up on the Black Nuzlocke. I'm just being lazy about grinding...again.)

So a long time ago (as in about a year or so), I did an X Nuzlocke. Yeah, I won, but it left kind of a bitter taste because I only won because I primarily relied on Mega Lucario to solve my problems as a red button. So I thought to myself, "Hey, maybe I should go for another locke, but with no Mega Evolution abuse this time."

And that leads us to now.

Naturally, standard rules apply with a couple of extras.

1. No Mega Evolutions, period. Not counting the required Korrina battle on the Tower of Mastery, that Mega Stone and any other Mega Stone is staying in the bag.
2. As per usual, the Exp. Share will be turned off with the exception of grind sessions.
3. If I have less than 3 mons during the final Lysandre battle, I will probably take advantage of Yveltal for that battle only.
4. Malamar can go burn in the pits of the inferno

That should be all of them. And if I get around to grinding and working on the Black Nuzlocke, I'll likely edit my post to add that part in. Thank you and have a good day.

Ok, so after being lazy about grinding and remembering Audino was a thing, it's time to get back to the Black Nuzlocke. I'm aiming to get both Skyla and Twist Mountain done, but let's see where we go.

Episode 7 - Building the PC Power

Spoiler:
So I had to train up Zionga, and since I was training her up, I thought to myself, "Hey, why not grind up the whole party while I'm at it. Yeaaaah...

http://image.prntscr.com/image/5dbfba24985c4bbfa38bf0cff499aebd.png

I may have overleveled just a little bit. Let's just blame this on my lack of memory on what level Skyla's Swanna is and move on with our lives, and onto Celestial Tower for our encounter.

http://image.prntscr.com/image/b09aa6ffda4f4d9fbc5fe48282cafd73.png

Eh, a Litwick. To be honest, it was kinda expected to get this one.

http://image.prntscr.com/image/563b2d8a1a334a5187e4297bf55d89b1.png

Now, with this one, I thought for a bit. I realize that this may be the last Fire type I encounter in the game, so I figured I'd name this Litwick Agidyne. Now, onward with the tower ascending, then onward to Skyla's gym to destroy everyone there.

http://image.prntscr.com/image/86128355d2574df2901086988680c782.png

http://image.prntscr.com/image/ff8c662ad4c34a7ab016f9499d8cbcac.png

Yup, as I thought. Totally overleveled. Welp, it'll make my life easier. That's another badge down thanks to our almighty squad. Now, let's go heal up, get that Aerial Ace TM, then head for the terrible mountain.

http://image.prntscr.com/image/18473e1014124248a93ee46845f62928.png

But of course, Messiah is always lurking me. This Boldore killing stizh is probably back for another round of murdering my team. At least this time, he's only here to blather on for a good few moments about stuff. Now for real, onward to the mountain!

http://image.prntscr.com/image/b9f977dc62ca46b386eda04d55278087.png

http://image.prntscr.com/image/cd7b16354eab4b3386eeb6daefa3d7c1.png

But of course, Cheren has to show up and get in my way. Doesn't matter because his scrublord team is still no match for mine. Welp, let's go and get ourselves a nice and clean encounter. This is likely my final chance to get an Ice type at all in this locke. I'm hoping to snag one, but if I don't, then oh well. We'll have to improvise against Drayden.

http://image.prntscr.com/image/a1657d6e14c1442c9fdbae62b0ce5c4c.png

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! I am one lucky stizh! I ran into three Boldores before finding this gem. A perfect addition to the squad if Fighting types weren't a problem. However, I find this to be a perfect encounter.

http://image.prntscr.com/image/8f86a1f437514a7487c53f2984c6c685.png

And considering she's the only Ice type we're likely to catch, I'm gonna name her Bufudyne. Now, let's continue on through Twist Mountain.

http://image.prntscr.com/image/e0e921fd967747b09df6a76da16830c3.png

So we've survived Twist Mountain, but look at this box. We have so much power in the PC, and the best part is that we can obtain even more power. There's a number of routes we can hit up, along with a certain spot you can't reach without Surf, so let's go on a capture montage of sorts. Let's go!

P2 Lab

So, we got some encounters, but I still have three left. I'm gonns save those three for next time, though, where hopefully, we'll also be tackling the 7th gym, Dragonspiral Tower, and Relic Castle.

Rules:
You must nickname all of your Pokemon.
A black out/white is a "game over," even if there are Pokémon left in the PC.
You must change the battle style to SET.
You may not heal outside of battle except pokemon centre.
You may only use PokéBalls.
You may not use legendary Pokémon. I will catch them if I see them, but not use them in this playthrough.
No Duplicate Captures (Only applies if said Pokemon is alive)
Separated Areas (Only if they are actually separated, like North/South 204 from Sinnoh, or multiple floors in a cave)

Pokemon caught:
Starter – Waterchicken - Mudkip
Route 101 – Werewolf - Poochyena
Route 102 – Seedot - Seedot
Route 103 – Thug - Zigzagoon
Route 104 -
Petalburg Forest - Lovebug - Wurmple

Spoiler:
Progress:
Started the game
Chose Mudkip and named it Waterchicken
Went to Odale Town and got a potion.
Battled May at route 103, she had a Treecko. Waterchicken wasn’t at full health when the battle started, but still managed to win and grew to lvl 7 already!
Went back to Odale Town. Received Mew and Shaymin… Ok, I will not use them in this playthrough.
After a lecture in Littleroot Town, it was the start of my journey. Together with May, I sneaked up on a pokemon, which was a Poochyena of level 5. This also is my first capture and it’s named Werewolf. This happened at route 101.

Later, at route 103 there was a Zigzagoon of level 2, which I managed to capture while it was burned by the Fire Fang of Werewolf. Now Zigzagoon is called: Thug.
Trained Waterchicken to level 8, Werewolf to level 6 and Thug to level 5 at route 103.

Beat Youngster Calvin at Route 102, Thug beat Zigzagoon of level 4 and that was it.
Found a hidden Seedot of level 5. One pokeball was enough. It made Thug grew to level 6 and Seedot, which I meant to name Mugger, but I hit the wrong button, so It’s named Seedot. Will change it when I reach the name rater. The next bugcatcher was no match for Seedot. Just a lvl 4 Wurmple.
Found a wild Surskit, damn, would really like dit to have it… what a shame.

After a quick stop in Petalburg City, meeting with the gymleader and Wally, I went back to route 102 to train Seedot and Thug. I Battled Lass Tiana, who has a Zigzagoon of level 5. No match for Seedot. The next trainer, … was also easily defeated by Thug. A level 4 Poochyena and a level 2 Tailow.

Went to route 104 to defeat Richboy Winston. Didn’t enter the tall grass, so I could save the pokemon I can catch at this route. Maybe to catch a water pokemon later on. In the Petalburg Woods the first pokemon was a Wurmple, so I cought i tand named it Lovebug. After defeating the bugcatcher and a few other pokemon in the forest, Lovebug evolved into Cascoon.
Further in the woods I defeated a member of team Magma, who had a level 9 Poochyena. Quite strong compared to my teammates. Seedot and Waterchicken took care of it. I was hoping that the Poochyena didn’t attack, because he used Howl four times. It could easily knock out one of my pokemon, but he didn’t attack.

I went back to route 104 and beat a Youngster who is walking around on the beach.

My team
Waterchicken lvl 12 - Mudkip
Lovebug lvl 9 - Cascoon
Thug lvl 9 - Zigzagoon
Seedot lvl 11 - Seedot
Werewolf lvl 9 - Poochyena
