Single challenge
I've been itching to play back through my first Pokemon game
Day 1
Spoiler:
Chose my first Pokemon Bulbasaur, named him Aster.
This was fixing to be a very short Nuzlocke challenge. Had to use a potion, then my rival's Charmander landed a critical hit and almost took Aster out. I've never been so nervous during the tutorial battle.
After battling a Rattata on Route 1 Aster knows Leech Seed now so that should be handy.
I've always been iffy on whether or not I can catch the Route 1 Pokemon on these challenges, since I encounter them before I get any balls. I'll just go ahead and say no Route 1 Pokemon for me.
Viridian Forest, and my first catch of the day is: A Metapod. Level 5. I've named him Jushtin. He might just be a little green pea pod now but with a little love and a lot of switching him around in battle he'll become a beautiful butterfly.
Got outta Viridian Forest just fine, more or less. This one guy with a Weedle got a few crits in but I was using Aster the Bulbasaur so even critical hits weren't too much of a problem. Went to Pewter City's Pokemon Center to heal up and now it's back off to Route 2 and Viridian Forest to get Aster to level 10 so he can learn Vine Whip.
Encountered a Rattata on Route 2 and caught him. I'll name him Joey.
Maybe Nuzlockes really are cursed or something, i'm seeing a lot more critical hits from enemy pokemon than usual.
But I got Aster up to level 10, and I took a bit of time to train Joey as well. I felt it was time to take on Pewter City's gym. Aster's Vine Whip breezed right through both Brock's Pokemon of course. Though I did have a scare when the Onix critted on it's Tackle attack and took Aster down to red. If Aster died there that would've been the end of that run, no way I could've beaten Brock's Onix with a Metapod and a Rattata. But thankfully Aster survived and took the opponents Pokemon out in one shot.
Now that I've acquired the Boulder Badge, this seems a good spot to stop for today.
Jushtin has finally evolved into Butterfree! Now he can finally stand on his own in battle.
We should be able to make it to Cerulean City just fine at least, so it's off to Mt. Moon.
It keeps happening. Aster keeps almost dying from critical hits. This time it was shorts kid's Rattata.
Jushtin has died. Taken out by a Spearow that nearly took down Aster and Joey. Your sacrifice will be remembered, rest in peace Jushtin.
Jushtin's loss has made it clear i'm not quite ready to go to Cerulean City, so i've trained a bit more on the route around Mt. Moon.
First wild encounter on Route 3 was a Spearow, but Joey's Tackle took it out. Revenge for Jushtin perhaps.
After a lot of battling Aster has now evolved into Ivysaur.
With Aster evolved and Joey at level 15 I entered Mt. Moon and encountered a Zubat. Big surprise. Lobbed a couple pokeballs at it to capture it because at this point I don't trust Aster or Joey to not instantly KO this thing. I've named him Vlad. Welcome to the team Vlad, we hope you'll stay with us for a long time.
I didn't want to end up with another Jushtin so soon so I backtracked to Viridian Forest to train Vlad. I got into a battle with a Pikachu and switched to Joey. And then the emulation froze up on me. I had not thought to save after I had captured Vlad. So I guess it's back into Mt. Moon.
I spent a while wondering if I should still capture a Pokemon in Mt. Moon after that. But the first thing I came across in there was another male, level 7, Zubat. Welcome back Vlad. This time I remembered to save. Now back to Viridian Forest I go.
Raised Vlad's level to 8 and that's that for today. Got a dog to walk and a job to get ready for.
Trained Vlad until I got bored and now i'm making my way through Mt. Moon. He's Level 9 now. It has never been said that i'm a patient person.
Joey almost died to a Team Rocket Grunt's Rattata because the string of critical hits continues. Other than that though the trip through Mt. Moon was pretty uneventful. Didn't have anymore close calls after that.
After stopping by the Pokemon Center in Cerulean City and doing a bit of shopping I swung back to Route 4 to get a bit more training in. First encounter out there was another Rattata so i've passed on that catch. Vlad is still having a hard time battling on his own and that's really slowing things down.
After a bit of that I made my way to the Cerulean Gym. With a level 14 Zubat, a level 17 Rattata, and a level 19 Ivysaur. Really if I don't get a game over here i'll probably get it during the ensuing Rival battle. I do not have high hopes for my team right now, and I've always had trouble in Cerulean.
I beat Misty's Staryu easily with a couple Vine Whip's from Aster, but then her Starmie came out. I switched into Joey thinking I could get a Tail Whip in and make it easier for Aster, but he never had a chance. Joey got taken out by a Water Pulse in one hit. Aster managed to avenge him and I earned the Cascade Badge. But at what cost. Rest in Peace Joey.
So I'm now down to Vlad the level 14 Zubat, and Aster the level 20 Ivysaur. And i've still got that Rival battle coming up. I think this is gonna be the end of this run.
It was my Ivysaur against his Pidgeotto. I hit it with a Poison Powder. It's Gust attack took a chunk out of Aster's HP but I think his high level really saved him here. It then used it's Sand Attack. I switched to Vlad temporarily so Aster could gain back his accuracy and then switched Aster right back in. Vlad took a big hit from Gust but was still going strong. A few Tackles from Aster plus the Poison Powder took that Pidgeotto down. Then Rival sent out Charmander. I switched to Vlad again to land a Supersonic and confused the opponents Pokemon. Charmander took Vlad down to red with it's Ember but Vlad held on. I switched out to Aster who took a Metal Claw from his opponent. I had Aster lay down another Poison Powder attack. He endured an Ember by only one point. I used a couple Super Potions during this battle, the cowards way I know but I didn't want it to end here. After Charmander was taken out Abra was next. Since this thing only knows Teleport it was a great chance to heal Vlad up with some Leech Life's and get him some much needed experience. Finally was his Rattata which was easily taken down with a couple Vine Whip's from Aster.
This was actually exciting for me, I didn't think I really had any chance to come out of this battle unscathed, much less win it with only my Ivysaur and Zubat.
Taking on the Trainers on Nugget Bridge Vlad reached level 16 and learned Bite, which should make him much better in battle I hope.
While traipsing through the grass on Route 24 I encountered a male Caterpie, level 7. I've named him Jushtin II in memory of my deceased Butterfree. He leveled up rather quickly thanks to Aster and Vlad, and now I have a Butterfree on my team again.
Reached Bill's house and got the SS Anne Ticket. Headed back to Cerulan City and made one last stop at the Pokemon Center and Pokemart before heading to Vermillion. Beat down the thieving Rocket Grunt and now i'm keeping the stolen goods for myself.
Traveling along Route 6 both Vlad and Aster got paralyzed by the same Butterfree, and I only have one Paralyze Heal. So sorry Vlad, you'll have to hold on til we can get to the Pokemon Center.
Other than that little annoyance we've made it to Vermillion unscathed. After a quick stop in the Pokemon Center and a chat with the chairman of the Pokemon Club I headed straight to the SS Anne. I've always loved the music that plays on this ship.
Nearly lost Vlad because these gosh darn Growlithes gave him a burn, and everytime I switched him out they'd use Roar and he'd get switched right back into battle and take burn damage.
After battling all the trainers on the ship I headed to the captain's quarters. Aster is the strongest Pokemon I've got right now,the others are doing well but he's really been carrying the team through some tough battles.
My Rival showed up and challenged me to a battle. Aster poisoned his Pidgeotto and got a couple Tackles in while the Pidgeotto hit him with some Sand Attacks. I switched into Vlad who took a crit from Pidgeotto's Gust. But he managed to hit first next turn with his Bite and the Pidgeotto flinched. One more bite and Pidgeotto was down. I sent out Jushtin against his Kadabra. He's the only one who doesn't have a weakness to Psychic moves. The first two Stun Spores I tried to land missed thanks to the Kadabra using Kinesis and lowering Jushtin's accuracy. The 3rd one stuck but I forgot that Kadabra had that Synchronize Ability. Vlad still doing bad health wise so I switch into Aster. I put a Leech Seed on it but perhaps that wasn't necessary, Aster's Razor Leaf took it out in one go. I kept Aster out against his Charmeleon, and gave him a Super Potion. He managed to poison the Charmeleon but then took a crit from Ember. I switched out to Vlad but that perhaps wasn't the best idea. I'm not keeping myself super stocked on Potions but I ended up using two on Vlad. Then I just switched into Jushtin hoping that whatever was next he'd survive. Which he did thankfully and the Charmeleon went down to poison damage. His Raticate wasn't nothing to worry about at least. Went down in a couple hits. Which is good because I was out of potions.
So now it's time to take on the Vermillion gym. After grabbing a few Paralyze Heals and some more Super Potions.
Aster took Surge's first two Pokemon down easily. HIs Raichu was a bit bulkier, and double team made things kind of annoying. But his electric attacks barely did anything against Aster and we earned our third badge.
After healing my Pokemon up at the Pokemon Center I headed to Route 11 to see what I could catch. A Spearow, female, level 15. I've named her Robin. But I've already got 2 other's. After giving it some thought I've decided to box Jushtin II.
I entered Diglett Tunnel and encountered a level 31 Dugtrio, but was unable to capture it after running out of poke'balls.
Spent some time training on Route 11 and Robin evolved into Fearow.
Stocked up on potions and balls and made my way back to Cerulean. Got me a bike and rode it all the way to Rock Tunnel. Along the way Vlad evolved into a Golbat. Found a TM for Aerial Ace, gonna save it for later since I can't decide who to teach it to.
On Route 10 I caught a Voltorb, level 17. I've named him Boomer.
After swinging back through Route 9 to battle the rest of the trainers i've decided to put Robin on standby as well.
Entered Rock Tunnel. Encountered a Geodude. Distracted. Run away from it without thinking...I could really use a ground or rock type right now too.
Aster has evolved into a Venusaur. He really is my strongest mon right now and i'd be in deep doodoo if I lost him.
Got out of Rock Tunnel and made my way to Lavender Town. I only needed to use one of my Super Potions the whole time, though Boomer came close to fainting.
Went into Lavender Tower after stopping by the Pokemon Center. Came across my Rival.
"Is your Pokemon dead?"
*sobbing* Yes!
I sent out Boomer agains his Pidgeotto. While Boomer does have a type advantage he unfortunately doesn't have a level advantage. Pidgeotto took him down to nearly half his health with one attack. Managed to paralyze the opponent Pokemon but I didn't want to take any chances. Switched into Aster. Aster got bulk, and took the Pidgeotto down with a couple Cut's. Vlad took down his Exeggcute with a couple Wing Attacks. The Exeggcute managed to land a Hypnosis on Vlad but luckily I had a couple Chesto Berries. Vlad then took down his Kadabra with a Bite and a Wing Attack, after Bite was disabled. I sent Boomer out against his Gyarados. Just one more Spark and he would've gone down. But the Gyarados's Thrash took Boomer out. Rest in Peace Boomer. Sent Aster out and he took it down with a Razor Leaf. I left out Aster against his Charmeleon. It got a burn on him but he took it out with a Poison Powder and a couple cuts, and that was the last of my rival's Pokemon.
Healed Aster's burn and kept going through Lavender Tower. Laid Boomer to rest.
I'd forgotten that Marowaks Ghost wasn't the only thing I needed the Silph Scope for. But I kept on any way, battling against the possessed channelers and training Vlad up to level 29.
After getting as far up as I could go into the tower I left and headed to the Pokemon Center to heal Vlad and Aster. Stopped by the PokeMart to grab some supplies and headed to Route 8. There I caught a Meowth. I named him Creamsicle and found that he was holding a Nugget.
I'm not losing anymore mons. I'm gonna stay right here and train Creamsicle until he's level 30 like Vlad.
RIP: Jushtin the Butterfree, Joey the Rattata, Boomer the Voltorb

Day 5-6
Spoiler:
Day 5
Got Creamsicle up to level 30, and he evolved into a Persian.
Made my way to Celadon City. Stopped in the grass outside the city to see what Pokemon I could find. It was a Meowth. While I’m aware I could use the ‘no dupes’ clause, I’m choosing not to. Passed on that catch and went to the Route on the other side of the city to see if I’d find anything new. A Rattata.
The couple on that Route teased me with their Fire type Pokemon so I kicked their butts. Got HM Fly and went back to Celadon to challenge the gym.
Vlad wrecked every Pokemon in that place and left with barely a scratch. The only damage he took was one Acid from Erika’s Vileplume.
Went into the game corner to take care of Team Rocket. Got distracted by the slots for
A while.
Eventually got around to breaking into the Rocket Base and beating down every Grunt on my way to Giovanni. Took down his Onix and Ryhorn easily with Aster’s Razor Leaf. Poisoned his Kangaskhan and took her down with a couple Razor Leaf’s, one which critted.
Left Rocket Hideout and played around on the slots some more.
I don’t have a problem you have a problem.
Went back through Lavender Tower, now with Silph Scope. Declined to catch Gastly since I wouldn’t be able to fully evolve it anyway. Second encounter was a Cubone. Kinda wish that could’ve been my first encounter, I could really use a Ground type right now.
Laid Marowaks spirit to rest and taught those Rocket’s a good lesson.
Got the Pokeflute from Mr. Fuji and decided to go ahead on down to Fuschia City. Decided to take the scenic route along Route 12.
Woke the sleeping Snorlax with the Pokeflute but failed to catch it. Almost lost Vlad in the process.
On Route 13 I decided to do a bit of fishing and hooked a Krabby. I managed to capture him, in spite of Creamsicles best attempt. I’ve named him Sebastian.
While continuing along Route 13 Vlad started evolving. And then he stopped? I didn’t press B or anything. I know Bulbapedia says I can’t get Crobat until I’ve gotten the National Dex but dang, the game got my hopes up there.
Ran out of potions so I ran the rest of the way to Fuschia City without battling any more Trainers or searching for Pokemon.
After healing my Pokemon up it’s off to the Safari Zone. I’ve decided to treat each different area as a different Route.
First area, I encountered a Parasect. My first Ball failed so I tried throwing a Rock at it. It ran away.
Second area, I encountered an Exeggcute. It ran away after the first Ball.
Third area, I encountered a Venomoth. It stayed after a Rock but broke out of the Ball and ran.
Fourth area, I encountered a Nidorina. It fled after two Balls.
Ran out of time and went back in to get to any area’s I hadn’t reached yet.
Finally managed to catch something. A female Nidoran, level 22. I’ll name her Chica.
Realized Safari Zone really only has 4 areas and I had caught Chica in just another part of Area 1. So I guess I can’t use her then. But at least I didn’t leave totally empty handed. Got the HM for Surf, and some teeth.
Grabbed some potions from the Poke Mart, gave the Warden his teeth in exchange for the HM Strength, and got a Good Rod. Now it’s off to Fuschia Gym.
Getting through the gym to Koga was definitely a bit trickier. Almost everyone here has a Psychic type and half my team has a Poison typing. It’s making me worry about Sabrina’s Gym. But thankfully no one’s died and I’m ready to take on the leader.
Vlad landed a Confuse Ray on his Koffing and took a Smokescreen to the face. I switched into Aster. Aster also got Smokescreened right away, and the Koffing snapped out of it’s confusion then and there. But Aster still was able to land a Leech Seed on it. Took it out with some Air Cutters and a Bite from Vlad. Next up was Muk. I swapped to Aster hoping to get another Leech Seed in. Success! I hit it with a couple Strengths but it kept using Minimize. So I switched to Creamsicle with his Faint Attack. We got it down to red but the Koga used a potion. Then Creamsicle got poisoned so I switched back to Aster. Got it down to red again only for Koga to use another Hyper Potion. Now that’s just plain annoying. Not when I do it though. But! Aster’s next Strength was a crit! Got it down to yellow. Then it critted on Aster with it’s Sludge. I may or may not have used a potion at this point. So finally thanks to Aster’s Strength and Leech Seed that pile of sludge went down. Landed another Leech Seed on his next Koffing. Sent out Vlad since Aster’s health was getting low. Vlad took it down with a couple Air Cutters. Wheezing was next, and fell to many Bite attacks from Vlad. Earning me the Soul Badge. Also the TM for Toxic, which I then used on Aster.
And that is where I’ll stop for today, after healing up at the Center.
R.I.P: Jushtin the Butterfree, Joey the Rattata, Boomer the Voltorb
Spoiler:
Day 6
After stocking up at the Poke Mart I went back to Route 15 to see what I could catch and battle the rest of the Trainers. Caught a level 25 Pidgey, named him Orville. Considering holding onto him and putting Vlad on standby. As much as I've grown attached to him, I need some more type variety. Having half my team weak to Psychic is gonna leave me hurting in Saffron.
Taught Orville Fly, something Vlad can't learn. After a few battles Orville evolved into Pidgeotto.
Reached Lavender town and placed Vlad in a box. Took some time to train Orville and Sebastian on Route 8.
On Route 8 Sebastian evolved into Kingler.
After a lot of battling I got them both up to level 31. Went to the fighting dojo in Saffron to train Orville some more. Orville nearly got taken out by a Revenge attack from a Machop. Went back out to the Pokemon Center and taught Orville Aerial Ace.
Took on the Fighting Dojo again. Orville didn't get as much training as i'd hoped, and nearly died on two separate occasions. Nearly lost Aster too. But I was able to beat all the Trainers in there and got a Hitmonchan for my troubles. I've named him Jackie.
Healed up at the Center and went on a shopping trip before going to Silph Tower to take down the Rockets.
Jackie nearly died battling a Machop, specifically because I didn't think a Machop could be too much trouble for him.
And Aster nearly died when a Wheezing used Self Destruct.
And Sebastian. Having a lot of close calls here and I am not liking it.
But eventually I hunted down every Rocket Grunt and wrecked their stuff.
Took a warp pad to get to Giovanni and found my Rival, standing around like a butt instead of doing anything to take care of the Rocket problem.
He challenged me to a battle and I sent out Creamsicle against his Pidgeot. Creamsicle landed some good hits but Pidgeot was stronger. I switched into Aster before Creamsicle got knocked out. One Strength from Aster took it out. Next was Exeggcute. I sent out Orville. He critted on his Fly attack taking it out in one go. I sent Aster back out against his Alakazam Aster landed a Toxic and a Leech Seed. Being a Poison type he was unaffected by the Alakazam's Synchronize ability. Alakazam set up a Future Sight and then a Reflect. Aster hit it with a Razor Leaf, and after some damage from poison and Leech Seed it went down. I sent out Sebastian against his Charizard. Sebastian took the hit from Future Sight. It took a pretty good chunk of his HP but not alot. He was able to hit it with a Surf. But a 'not very effective' Flamethrower took him down to red and left him with a burn. Hanging on by one point I switched him for Aster. Which was obviously a bad idea. Aster took a bad hit from Flamethrower and got no attack in. So next I switched to Jackie with his Thunder Punch. Jackie went down without getting a single punch in. Orville was next. He went down in one hit. Then Creamsicle.
Then Aster.
Then Sebastian.
Just like that my entire team was slaughtered by my Rival's Charizard.
Game Over.
Welp, that ends that run. In complete and total failure.

Welp i'm joining in, let's see if my first Nuzlocke would end in success or not. Unfortunately, i like to betting up the ante, so... it's time for playing rom hacks mwahahaha. It's time to pay some respect to the Rom Hacker that made me an even bigger fan of Pokemon games, Drayano. So without further ado..

Okay this is the first update, maybe you guys realize if you're hovering around the challenge part of the forum that my Alfheim online challenge got a lot of updates while this one does not. It's because i failed, four times mwahaha. Blind Nuzlocking this is kind of hard, especially since when you reach the Pokemon League part even your opponents are lvl 100. And damn it Dexio do you have to kill my nuzlock twice in a row? I'll start the detailed update from here on, because i'm too lazy to write the transcript for things happened before. And btw, let's just say i get quite lucky on my pokemons i catched. It's the best one ever and i don't want this nuzlock to fail again, so please enjoy from now (P.S I'm not blind nuzlocking anymore this series, it's quite difficult with the difficulty hike)

It's time for a status update, and i proudly announce.. That i failed haha.. Welp, 5/6 great pokemon is dead, with only Eileen remaining after beating Lurantis, and as the rest of my pokemon are less desirable or have hindering nature, based on my judgement i can't complete this. Don't get me wrong this hack is very good, but fighting against Totems that have Auras is a completely different monster. Which is why i decide to change my challenge to the normal Ultra Sun instead, also i lost my Y cartridge, can't found where do i dump it either, so.. i'm changing my challenge to eternal X instead (I could borrow it from my friend). But for now, i guess i'll start from Storm Silver instead, please stay tuned

I like to keep a detailed log, so if you're interested, here it is:
I´m doing the Nuzlocke challenge in all generations with the original games. But there is a problem. One-pokemon runs are too effective and it´s not interesting, now i´m one-hiting level 20 pokemon with a level 43 Venosaur and there is no fun or challenge. What would be the most interesting rule we can use to limit that?
