Catching Legendaries
Well i finished the game but havent caught all the pokemon yet. I am currently catching all the obtainable legitmate pokemon you can get in Omega Ruby http://i.imgur.com/eCY7B4b.jpg is what i currently have. Anyone else catching legendary pokemon lately?
|
Yup, I haven't beat the Elite Four yet, but I'm on my hunt. So far I have Kyogre, Thundurus, Zekrom, Azelf, Lugia, Cobalion, and Terrakion.
|
Of the Legendary Pokemon that can be found in the portals, I have only caught two of them. The two that I have caught are Heatran and Zekrom. Of the ones not found in portals, I have caught Kyogre, Rayquaza, Latias, and Deoxys.
|
It's been a while since I caught a legendary without a Master Ball. I was pleasantly surprised that I caught Mesprit in 11 turns and used a Dusk Ball. I want to catch a shiny Zekrom/Cresselia at some point without using my Master Ball.
|
Candela's Legendary Hunt Journal Spoiler:
I've been posting these in the ORAS Travel Journal in case anyone wants to know. Aka. this is practically what I've been doing the past few days. I've noticed the Legendaries are easier to catch in ORAS (I mean I caught 6 of my legendaries in 1x multiplier balls). |
I managed to catch almost all of the legendaries (except Cressalia) in my Alpha Sapphire with matching poke ball types:
Kyogre - Great ball Rayquaza - Nest ball Deoxys - repeat ball Regirock - dusk ball Regice - dive ball Regsteel - ultra ball Regigigas - timer ball Dialga - timer ball Giratina - timer ball Uxie - ultra ball Mespirit - heal ball Azelf - great ball Suicine - master ball (originally wanted to catch it using dive ball but ran out) Raikou - ultra ball Entei -poke ball Lugia - dive ball Heatran - dusk ball (originally wanted to catch it using pokeball but ran out) Zekrom - luxury ball Kyurem - dive ball Cobalion - ultra ball Terrakion - dusk ball Virizion - nest ball Thundurus - luxury ball Landorus - luxury ball |

Is it just me or do these Legendary battles seem far to easy? and ... lacking.
Sure! there are lots of em! and making a special cut scene for each one would make the post game ridiculous but it just doesn't feel right catching Reshiram/Zekrom or Lugia/Ho-hO with such an Under-dramatic setting? Am i the only one bothered by this? |
Quote:
Rayquaza gave me a better fight than them imo. Or maybe I'm just lucky right now? Dunno, haven't caught the musketeers, the pixies, the regis and Cresselia though, so this lucky streak might end soon. |
I did find myself questioning if catching Legendary Pokemon has become easier yesterday when it took me two Dive Balls to catch Lugia. Then I realized that it had not become easier when it took me thirty one Ultra Balls to catch Thundurus. I still need to catch the Regis, the Lake trio, the Swords of Justice, Cresselia, and Dialga for the ones I can obtain in Alpha Sapphire.

Yeah, I have noticed it being easier to catch legendaries, though maybe that's due to the fact that we have so many more to catch on this game. Some people may not want to be spending an hour on each legend this time around. I think XY and ORAS have been designed to make stuff like completing the Pokedex easier to make competitive play and shiny breeding more accessible to players.
|
So far all legends I caught were in a Poke Ball
NOTHING ELSE MATTERS |
Wait, Deoxys can be caught? Am I late to the party!?
|
I've been catching all the legendaries within at most 20 turns with all ultra balls.
Heck, I managed to catch Deoxys full health with the first ball I threw! And honestly, I feel like the legendaries aren't as special anymore when I see them popping out of the same generic portals. It takes part of the fun out of hunting for them that you don't get to at least see them before you battle them. It makes the development all feel a bit rushed. |
Well so far I have the entire musketeer trio and Mesprit. I tried to get Reshiram on Friday but I couldn't get one with the IVs I wanted, so i'll come back to it when I have more free time. Same with Ho-Oh a little while back.
|
So far the legendaries I have are (FYI the version I have is Alpha Sapphire) :
Kyogre All four Regi Golems Rayquaza Lugia Heatran Latias and Latios Mesprit Cobalion, Terrakion, Virizion Zekrom Raikou, Entei, and Suicune Thundurus |
So far I have caught:
Groudon, Latios, Rayquaza, Uxie, Mesprit, Azelf, Palkia, Ho-oh, Heatran, Tornadus and Deoxys. Lucky for me I have all caught them in Pokeballs except for Deoxys which I deliberately used my master ball on. :) |
I'm not going to include the legends we get during the game's story (including Delta Episode).
So far, I've caught Mesprit, Tornadus and Ho-oh. Took me a while to catch 'em 'cause I kept soft resetting for better IVs and proper nature (since Synchronize only works 50% of the time, as far as I've heard). Tornadus had sucky IVs 'cause I got bored of catching him. xD I'm currently in the process of catching Latias. Soft resetted a few times already 'cause I couldn't get better IVs for it (it hurts when I got that Modest one with the IV spred of 31/2/28/1/31/31 and HAD to soft reset;_; )... |
Well I can now add Verizion and Uxie to my caught Legendary Pokemon list. I also forgot to add Diancie to that list as well. (Yes, I do have an event Legendary on that list). I realize that I forgot add the Legendary beasts to my to be caught list.
So here is my current lists for Legendary Pokemon I have caught or not yet: Caught: Diancie Latias Kyogre Rayquaza Deoxys Heatran Zekrom Lugia Thundurus Verizion Uxie To be caught: Regirock Regice Registeel Regigigas Mesprit Azelf Dialga Terrakion Cobalion Raikou Entei Suicune Cresselia |
It used to take me a whole day to catch some of these legendaries, but now I can do it pretty easily with a few repeat balls and an appropriate trap. There's definitely been an increase in catch rates across the board, and I'm all for it, because this was done with the intention of changing playstyles in VGC.
|
How/where did you find all those? I'm pretty new to the newer games.
|
I have all of them in Alpha Sapphire, and all except Cresselia in Omega Ruby.
Quote:
Two of the legendaries don't require the Eon Flute, but IIRC do require you to have the National Pokédex. |

legendaries are awesome
My favorite is lugia or ho oh or entei |
i have every Legendary in ORAS so far minus Kyogre, i GTS traded to get the ones from AS since i have OR
i traded for Latias, i traded for Lugia, i traded for Zekrom and traded for Dialga, the good news is i did not trade ANY legandaries away, so i have all of them still haha and 2 Kyruems to boot, so i have black and white Kyruem hanging out in my bank |
Just finished catching them all today, the feeling of having a box full of legendaries is amazing, and watching them all in the pokedex
|
Only one I've caught so far is Terrakion, Groudon and Rayquaza. In the process of training a Gallade with False Swipe/Hypnosis/Thunder Wave/Shadow Sneak, per someone's earlier suggestions. Just bred the Ralts this morning, and it's currently a Lv. 55 Gallade thanks to the Blissey bases (seriously the best addition ever). Going to use the Gallade as my legend catcher. Named him Bandit.
|
Ive only caught Kyogre, I nearly caught Cresselia and Azelf but ran out of balls, does anyone know an easy way to catch legendaries
|
I'm currently catching the dogs *I'm being lazy since I haven't played the game in two days*.
I've caught Entei & am going to catch Suicune & Raikou when I feel like it lmao So far I've caught Kyogre, Azelf, Uxie, Mesprit, Heatran, Dialga, Cobalion, Terrakion, Virizion, Lugia, Entei, Latias, Rayquaza, Deoxys, & Thunderus. I'm currently looking for people who will trade with me for a Tornadus & Palkia so that I can catch Giratina & Landorus. |
I got my Gallade at lv 100 so I've caught a few more.
Adding to the list: Virizion, Mesprit, Azelf, Ho-oh, Suicune. Completely spaced and missed the chance to get Cobalion yesterday (Wednesday), didn't even play yesterday. Oh well, I'll get it next week. Really excited to get Entei and Raikou now though, will probably actually use them because I love them so so so much. |
And not long ago I got Reshiram, Palkia and Ho-Oh as well, the very latter with four 31 IVs and 30 Speed, and the other two had decent stats all-around. I'll go for Kyurem once I have another Master Ball, and something with the proper amount of Speed to check against it.
|
My hunt is paused because I don't have the Alpha Sapphire exclusives. >:(
Anyway, I've caught almost everything you can get in OR. |
So far I have these:
Latios Latias Suicune Entei Raikou Ho-oh Groudon Deoxys Cresselia Mesprit Uxie Rayquaza Tornadus All pokemon I have caught have been with either pokéballs or premier balls, the only great balls, ultra balls etc that I have in my bag were items i picked up |
So a couple things I learned yesterday:
- Regigas is only available before 6 PM, even if you have met all the other requirements. Not a lot of the guides mention that delightful tidbit. - The rule about legendaries being unavailable for 48 hours after you've changed the time on your system clock is not restricted to Mirage Spots. I'm sure you guys can fill in what happened from there -_- |
Quote:
Uxie, at 8 PM, was my first attempt yesterday. It went into a Poké Ball without much trouble. Azelf was a pain and took several attempts to get down to 1 HP. Once I got it there, I lost all my Pokémon and dropped over 5K, so reset and retried. This time, my Lv.46 Crawdaunt stood up to Azelf's Uproar long enough to get its HP down to 1, and I had a few knockouts. This caused the Nameless Cavern to disappear from the map as the KOs temporarily reduced friendship. This morning, I wandered the waters around Mossdeep to regain friendship with a few levels and chanced upon a Shiny Pelipper, and thankfully I had Crawdaunt handy for the catch. Following this battle, I got the Nameless Cavern back on the map, and Mesprit was another easy battle. However, I used 47 Poké Balls, then had to reset because I ran out; I did test and catch on the fifth Great Ball, but with such an easy battle I was using the regular ones as my money is short after buying some Revives (I need to do some rematches or clone my expensive Comet Shards). The second attempt went on the 22nd toss. So, to sum up, all three in the trio in regular Poké Balls, and a Shiny Pelipper as a bonus. That's a pretty good 24 hours! As for why I used regular Poké Balls: I did the entire Safari Dex from X/Y by catching every Pokémon with every ability in the Friend Safari (did I mention they're all female except for male-only and genderless species?), so I'm continuing the old-school methods with everything except the storyline Groudon, which I sealed on the 10th Ultra Ball very early Christmas morning (Rest is too much to deal with at the level you likely encounter it at). I made an exception for a Poochyena with a good Egg Move when I ran out of Poké Balls in one game. |
I've been really lucky with my legend hunt up until now.
Caught Kyogre after like 5 ultraballs and caught Cresselia (got the Crescent Isle right before going to the League) in a premier ball after 2 quick balls. The natures have not been on my favor, Kyogre and Latias have booty natures, but Cresselia is Calm, i guess it's good |
I haven't caught any Mirage spot/Regis yet. I want to shiny hunt one of them, and I haven't really decided on which one I'm going to hunt, so uh yeah. I do have Kyogre and Rayquaza though!
|
Quote:
I'm glad I got the shiny Zekrom in a Luxury Ball since then, but I've yet to find Cresselia. I'm planning on using Endeavor Staraptor and Spore Parasect to catch her leaving the Master Ball as a last resort. I've wanted a shiny Cresselia since 2007. |
Quote:
I might then use that Haxorus to access the Trackless Forest and take down the legendary dogs in turn (Raikou/Entei/Suicine). Right now, they aren't a concern. I just felt like taking care of the Uxie/Mesprit/Azelf trio since I had a lovely Crawdaunt ready to assist with the relatively easy task. I should have done Mesprit first and Azelf last, however, though I would not have known that the area they come from still appears on the map without an indicator if I did because Azelf caused the most trouble with a 90 base power move, and actually caused the area to vanish after I caught it. Easily remedied, however. Cresselia will be my next target. I kinda wish an in-game Darkrai was available with Cresselia on your team, but there was the event one, so I guess I won't argue that. |
I'm moving slowly but surely on Alpha Sapphire. So far I've captured Kyogre and Ray Ray. -_- But hey, on important games like these, I like to take my time and make sure I don't miss any important events, any items, and that my Pokémon are perfectly up to date, level wise.
|
I go Azelf the other day. Encountered Cobalion but got too bored to actually catch it, so I didn't. Will probably hunt for all of them once I am done with the Elite Four.
|
I haven't caught that many on my AS yet (I seriously lack the motivation atm) but the ones I have caught were disappointingly easy. I mean, Rayquaza you HAVE to catch, but when my ultra ball only rolled once before clicking shut, I was amazed. I remember a six hour coach ride, several resets and over 300 Ultraballs (in total thrown) to catch Regirock, but now, it's not even taking 50. And the animation for the legendaries coming from Portals is also a bit... lacking. I mean, Lugia dropping from a hole into a disappointingly lack-lustre stage is anything but inspiring. But hey, they wanted every Pokémon to be catchable between X/Y and OR/AS. So they had to find some way of getting all these legendaries on one stage.
|
Quote:
The reason they made everything catchable is simple: the hexagon. That thing that confirms it was found in Gen. VI. Some use that as a Bible to whether the Pokémon is legit. or not; if it's not from Gen. VI, it's not allowed or wanted in cases. In others, if someone wants a certain Transfer move, they know one with a hexagon can't have the Transfer move and is hacked. |
It's a hexagon? I thought it was a pentagon XD
But I didn't realise people based their opinions of a Pokémon so heavily on if it was caught in Gen VI or not. And yes, now you mention it I realise those Pokémon are event exclusive still, which seems a tad unfair as the only Pokémon uncatchable in either set of games I had was Darkrai (And I lost that when all my DS games were lost, presumably stolen since I haven't found them). |
I've been lazy with AS recently so I haven't been able to train up a Pokemon to level 100 since I don't have Zekrom yet. Apart from that I need to get all the pokemon that need their other version exclusives like Kyurem, Landorus and Giratina which I'll probably get sometime this week.
|
So far I only have - Alpha Sapphire completed Delta episode have National Dex - Latios (I think it's the right one), Kyogre, Rayquaza, and Deoxys
Then again not interested yet in catching the others, mainly since Mew (it's the main legendary I would love to have and not been able to obtain) isn't in the game and most other legendary don't catch my attention, sorry to the legendary fans, I just don't like them (based on their design). |
I currently shiny hunting my Eon Ticket Latios and after that I'll go after the 4 Regi's and a Shiny Cresselia. Have every other Legendary caught, all non-shiny though
|
I haven't gotten to the point where you catch legendaries on my current save files, but when I did go on a legendary catching spree on Alpha Sapphire, I caught Suicune, Lugia, Kyogre, Rayquaza, Deoxys, Latias, Uxie, Mesprit, Azelf, Dialga, Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion.
|
As of this typing, the ones in Omega Ruby that I still have yet to get consist of Heatran, Giratina, Kyurem (which I can get since I migrated a Zekrom from White), and Cresselia. If I end up feeling really, REALLY daring I might go for a shiny Kyurem... Dx After I get the Shiny Charm, of course.
|
Interesting thing I came across while hunting for the Regi Trio, looking online, asking on message boards and Facebook groups for help everyone just tells you how to get the trio and the requirements and all this other stuff and all I kept asking for was information on how to start the quest, but almost instinctively everyone just tells you all the requirements and everywhere you have to go because I guess it's so ingrained not to have to look for anything but rather just google the answer that no one really tries anymore, but in the first chamber it actually gives you the entire alphabet (which NO WHERE online anyone ever mentioned, no online strategy guides, not answers on pokemon boards, all anyone ever says is "Get this pokemon and that pokemon and put them in this order and do this" but figuring out the alphabet was actually in that first chamber actually makes this whole quest WAY more fun than just being told what to do. (like, rather searching for a pokemon instead of just being handed one by one of your friends) I wish someone would have mentioned that, cause it makes it SO much better to know how to solve the puzzle in game rather than just be told how.
|
So after I beat Alpha Sapphire on Friday, I decided to do a mad dash for the legendaries in that game, most notably the ones that are version exclusives, before I wipe it. I've been keeping a checklist of the ones I haven't already got, and I still have yet to get Landorus, Dialga (who i'm gonna get next) and Giratina before I wipe the save I have. I got Thundurus and Lugia today, so those two are taken care of. I won't get all of them, at least not the ones I don't care for enough.
I also got Cresselia in Omega Ruby the other day, which is good because Crescent Isle can be really rare. |
It took me a bit to have someone help me trade the other version's Legendaries so I could catch Giratina, Kyurem, Landorus, etc, but I done it. Thank GOODNESS that there was some challenge in actually trying to catch them this time around; honestly haven't had to soft reset my game to catch a legendary since White.
|
Quote:
I did a combination of Thunder Wave + False Swipe before getting my Gardevoir to sponge any hits if it was attacking me. |
I managed to catch several Legendaries, except for Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Cresselia, Thundurus, Landorus, Kyurem, Dialga and Giratina, so far. I have been catching most of them with the help of Capture O-Power Lv. 3, my Breloom's False Swipe and Spore combinations, and mainly used Ultra Balls for the catch.
|
I've yet to catch Heatran and Regigigas in my OR game. I'm going to try to catch and SR Heatran for better nature and IVs, but I'm not gonna catch Regigigas, because, I don't like its requirement of needing to rename my Regice. -,-
|
Quote:
|
Quote:
(and I already have a Regigigas anyway, so...) |
I have plans to resume the Legendary hunt. I will use a Blissey secret base boss to get myself leveled up fast, then I'll try False Swipe combined with a Shiny hunt. Cresselia will be the difficult one; I have yet to get the island, AFAIK.
|
I don't really spend much time hunting legendaries. I'll catch them if they're cool and I like them, like for example in DPPt I caught Azelf and Uxie, but not Mesprit because I didn't like its design as much.
|
They all get 3 IVs now, so worth catching again.
Also, pursuant to my last post, Crescent Isle appeared a few hours later. I'm camping in front of the Mirage Spot there now. Seeing if a Shiny Cresselia comes along. |
I caught all of them except Regice in alpha sapphire.
|
I might as well show off post the legendaries that I caught here. At least, the ones that I've spent a lot of time SR'ing to get good IVs. :3
Spoiler:
|
A few weeks ago I managed to catch Zekrom, even though it was a pain given it took me way more balls to catch than Cresselia. But I did get a really good nature (Jolly) and perfect IVs in Attack, Defense and Speed so it was something nice.
|
It really helps that False Swipe comes out as a TM in the game so catching those legendaries becomes a lot more convenient.
Aside from AS Mascot(s) Kyogre and Latias, I've gotten Cobalion after a hard fought struggle, SEVERAL TIMES, since it always came out with useless natures (Neutrals or Wrong Natures like Careful or Relaxed (LOL) ) but i decided to stop and settle for whatever nature (and IVs) with came up with since I'll be using it mostly just in-game, as I don't plan on using it in Wifi/Competitive/PvP as there's a lot of better choices for a Steel or Fight type (or the said type combination in Lucario/Mega Lucario). Then again, I may be wrong about Cobalion. He is the coolest looking of the musketeers in my opinion and probably has some potential given its movepool. |
I haven't been. There are just.. so many to catch and knowing me I'd want to SR for good IVs/a possible shiny which would take ages. Not to mention I already have these legendaries from transferring them from past games. Maybe eventually I'll get to catching every one but for now it'll be on the backburner for a while. ];
|
I don't have the time or energy to soft reset for a shiny or good IV legendary, but I've been saving them for when I feel like doing so! The thing is, I just spent a lot of my time completing the Pokedex so I guess I just need an AS break xD
I-I have more excuses but I wont make them ;A; terrible |
I SR'ed for a perfect Mewtwo in X, that took ages (but hes one of my favourite legendaries) but I cant be bothered otherwise.
