Showers

My family always gets mad because I take so long in the shower. I take about half an hour. It got me wondering, how long do you guys spend in the shower? Do you like them? Do you have it hot, or test how your body would go in the next ice age? Also, do you have them in the night or in the mornings?

(If you have freezing cold showers on a daily basis, please explain why, because I cannot understand that.)

TRIFORCE89 December 8th, 2014 3:32 AM

I can take maybe 30 minutes? I wash my hair three times, and the rest of me twice - once with soap and once with body wash. Super hot, steam producing, shower.

Astraea December 8th, 2014 4:10 AM

I take shower of max 20 minutes, I enjoy it a lot but I don't stay too long in showers

Emboar December 8th, 2014 4:23 AM

I'll take about 10-15 minutes in the shower, and I always have warm showers. Even if it's scorching hot out, I'll still take warm showers, cause cold water just is not my friend.

curiousnathan December 8th, 2014 4:41 AM

I say I won't take long but I always do. It's just...once I'm in there, I'm in there haha. Especially in the mornings in Winter when its just so warm you don't want to leave. Mine usually last 20 min, but I'm usually in the bathroom for around 45. I need them steamy hot, something I don't always get because my sister hogs the hot water!!

Gardevoir the Dragon Slayer December 8th, 2014 5:04 AM

Yes nice big long showers for the lovely heat and time to think.

Yoshikko December 8th, 2014 6:19 AM

Love showers but I take too long sometimes. I'm trying to cut it down to 15 minutes!! And I try to watch the heat as well, the hotter you shower the hotter you need it every time so I'm trying to get used to lukewarm water. But it's hard in the winter haha.

Oryx December 8th, 2014 6:34 AM

I don't like showers. I know I'm the exception to this and I can't really pinpoint why but I'm always whining about having to shower. I go as fast as possible and sometimes listen to music to make it less annoying.

Alexander Nicholi December 8th, 2014 7:00 AM

I reason with showering, personally. Unemployed Alex at home never showers, but with obligation he's always showering, sometimes twice in a day. I love smelling nice but I'm not going to waste time smelling good just for myself if I don't have any plans... and I don't do things without some sort of warning. Sorry nonexistent outgoing friends that like to invite me to things on a whim.

pkmin3033 December 8th, 2014 7:23 AM

I bathe in the winter months, because getting out of a hot shower is somehow more jarring than getting out of a hot bath...probably because the water cools down the longer I spend in there. Plus it's more relaxing, completely immersing yourself in water.

But when I do shower instead, I'm typically in and out within ten minutes; it's more to freshen up than it is to relax. Always in the evening. I have too much to do in the mornings to spare the time to shower or bathe...unless the night before had me sticking to my bed. Then I make an exception. Usually at about 5am before I'm supposed to be up.

It has to be beyond hot for me to have a cold shower. I always have it as hot as I can stand it...which is fairly hot, once my hands and feet adjust to it. I have extremely poor circulation, so even tepid water hurts like hell and turns my skin red almost instantly...

Sonata December 8th, 2014 6:50 PM

It depends on what I have going on. Would I like to sit in the shower for 45 minutes every morning when I wake up and feel the warmth rain down on me? Of course I would. Do I always have time for that? No. I usually end up taking like 3 minute showers. Turn on the water, get in, rinse hair as the water gets warmer, shampoo the scalp, start soaping up my body as the water gets to the temperature of holy **** when did my showerhead turn into the portal to hades, and then I rinse off as I start to get used to it and then I'm done. Most of the time. If I have time though I'll sit there and fiddle with the knobs and all that until it's the perfect temperature and then I get in and it feels like jesus.

Pretty much me. I don't wash my hair every day so on days when I don't I only take about five minutes.. otherwise it's 15-20 minutes and no more.

But there are times when I go in the shower and don't want to come out. :( Usually in winters since it's so cold outside the shower, wuh.

│Medic│ December 10th, 2014 8:09 AM

I love warm showers. I usually take around 30 - 40 minutes to shower in the morning before I feel I should probably stop wasting water. x:

starseed galaxy auticorn December 10th, 2014 8:12 AM

I actually don't take that long. o.o It's probably because I'm not all that great with hygiene, even though I do everything I know. *shrug* It's funny because I really don't see how people can take such long showers either. It's a total mystery to me. I can get in, wash up my hair & body and get out in a matter of minutes.

Xela December 10th, 2014 9:43 AM

Depends on if I'm in a hurry and if I'm planning to go out. If it's a shower to just make myself feel clean, I'll take a good 15 - 20 minutes or so. If I have to go out in 10 mins? I speedrun it and do it in 3.

Warspirit December 10th, 2014 11:57 AM

If it's cold outside, I dislike showers because I'm always freezing when I step out. If it's summer, I like them more.
It takes me about 10-15 minutes with warm water. I used to do burning hot water but realized its what makes me itch when I get out .__.

Poki December 10th, 2014 1:26 PM

From 5 to 40 mins, depends.

Sylphiel December 10th, 2014 2:14 PM

I'll usually take about 10 to 15 minutes in the shower, on average. Definitely warm water here, on the hotter end of warm - no cold water here unless it's a really hot summer day. Also can't get the water too much hotter than that for long because then my tiny hot water heater depletes even faster (the 10 to 15 is basically the amount of time before I'm suddenly showering in cold water. Brr).

And I'll take my showers in the morning. Seems like the best way to go about it, especially if I'm going out somewhere.

Altaria December 11th, 2014 12:09 AM

I love showers, hot and cold. I tend to take hotter showers the more physical pain I'm in, and colder shows the more emotional my pain is. I don't know why, that's how I've been for years. Hot showers soothe my outsides, cold showers soothe my insides. I can take 2 minute showers or 45 minute showers but there's rarely an in between, and it's more frequently the latter than not. x3 Also, I adore baths. Ugh.

Aeon. December 11th, 2014 1:13 AM

Half an hour...on a good day. Largely because I shave in the shower and in the end it's what puts me at ease by the end of the day.

Alfieri December 11th, 2014 1:47 PM

Showers with shampoo take about 20 minutes. Showers without shampoo take about 15.

Mark Kamill December 12th, 2014 2:23 AM

10 minutes. Its too cold to allow for anything more, okay maybe 15 if I stay under the water to stay warm.

Prairie December 15th, 2014 2:09 AM

I love showers! I take two showers everyday -- one in the morning and another later at night -- and sometimes more if I went to a dusty place or get real sweaty. I always feel icky whenever I don't get my morning shower. .-.

My showers are usually somewhat warm, but occasionally I like to have them colder. It just feels so good! I take way too long with them (20-30 minutes) though, mostly because my mind tends to wander when I'm under the shower. I like to plan my day and think up ideas while I'm in the shower. More than once I ended up being late to class because of it. >~<

I have a friend who showers maybe once or twice a week, and it just baffles me how he can live like that!

Tirion December 15th, 2014 8:12 AM

I vary so much. I freaking love showers, and I like them hot. Ideally I would like to sit in there for half an hour or so, as for some reason I do a lot of deep thinking while showering.

Alas, constraints usually make that impossible. Since I shower in the morning and need to get going, and want to be courteous to my housemates, plus financial reasons, I usually only take 5-10 minutes. I do shave in the shower, though, so every few days I'll add a few minutes for that.

And every once in a while, usually on a weekend when I don't work, when I have nothing going on and I just feel like relaxing, I'll treat myself and take my half hour luxury shower, and it is glorious.

As an aside, would anyone get a Seinfeld Kramer reference if I were to make one?

Bounsweet December 15th, 2014 10:06 PM

I've never really been one of those people who could just stand in the shower and think about things or anything lol. The second I step in the shower I start scrubbing and don't stop until I'm about to turn off the faucet. There's nothing to do except get clean... I'd much rather be doing something outside of the bathroom than just standing under water, lol.

That said, I can take anywhere from 10-20 minutes in the shower, depending on if I wash my hair or not. I wax much more often than I shave now too so that's really cut back on my shower time, thankfully. I actually spend as much time doing post-shower bathroom stuff than I do in the shower - cleaning out my ears, cleaning my earrings to put back in my ears, spraying my hair with leave-in and combing it, moisturizing, deodorant, etccc etccc.

Evanlyn December 16th, 2014 7:01 AM

I take 5 minutes in the shower generally, if I have to wash my hair I take at least 20 minutes (I have a lot of hair to wash, sometimes 30 minutes!), and if I decide to shave my legs and whatnot (I like to do that in the shower)... then at least 40 minutes, or longer.

guitarhero01234 December 16th, 2014 12:18 PM

I'm really, really weird when it comes to showers. If it's night, I almost always shower in complete darkness (which isn't very good in my current residence, since the switch that turns fan on also turns on a light). I pretty much turn the water so hot it comes close to scalding me, and I sometimes just lay down in the bathtub when showering.

seeker December 18th, 2014 6:16 AM

The best way I can describe the temperature at which I have a shower is "tepid". I don't really like SUPER hot showers, I don't get how people are comfortable in those. That said, I do enjoy showers. I only usually take between 5-10 minutes, but the worst part is getting out.

Whenever I build a house I'm building a shower that's at the other end of a sauna, which links to my bedroom, with a machine that dresses me...

Hikamaru December 19th, 2014 8:49 AM

I usually tend to spend 10-15 minutes in the shower, mainly because my hair has this weird tendency to often go all messy and dry into a bird's nest state, meaning I have to have showers regularly. I still find showers fun despite my fear of hot water.

Evening December 19th, 2014 4:09 PM

Showers make me feel good, so I take about half an hour or so.
It's actually water in general that makes me feel good but showers do the job better.

Pinkie-Dawn December 22nd, 2014 9:12 AM

I shower for less than 10 minutes, because I want to converse water resources. I also try to keep the temperature warm to keep me feel comfortable.

Kydeka January 4th, 2015 8:33 AM

Ideally I'd have a shower for 30 minutes.
Unfortunately despite asking maintenance to investigate properly several times, my shower remains broken. I only get about 7 minutes out of it until it turns off. :c

Yukiyo Kayume January 5th, 2015 12:18 AM

I do not take showers, only baths

I can be in there from anywhere to 15-30 minutes usually.

I also love to sometimes sing in the bath. lol

Skip Class January 5th, 2015 2:43 AM

I can do a 5 minute shower if I try or if I'm rushing.

In most cases I'll hit the 20 mark because I stand in the shower for 10 minutes since the water is just so nice and warm and I don't want to leave.

Tsutarja January 6th, 2015 7:44 AM

My showers typically range between 5-15 minutes, depending on how rushing I am. Most times, they're either 9 or 10 minutes, but sometimes longer depending on how long my hair is. Since I have thick hair, it can take as much as 5-7 minutes alone just to wash my hair once. However, when it comes to washing the rest of myself, that usually only takes about 2-3 minutes.

Bobbylicious January 7th, 2015 6:23 AM

My morning shower is usually 20-30 minutes. That's coz I gotta wash my hair and all that shit. Like, I seriously am washing myself the entire time I'm the shower, there is no time for standing around doing noting LOL. If I really needed to be quick, I could probably take 15 minutes, but that would be pushing it.

My night showers are a different story tho, I'm honestly no longer than 5 mins. I just wash my face and body and get out.

Spiff January 7th, 2015 11:41 PM

Ten minutes maybe, even though the water pressure at my place is like someone lightly crying on you.

I donnu how some of you people are taking mad 30+ minute showers, like do you guys just kinda stand there or what's the deal? My roommate'll take hour long showers and I just donnu if I should check on him or not.

CoffeeDrink January 8th, 2015 2:59 AM

Fun Fact: I've actually woken up in the shower in a suit before. Must have been some night. The water was cold.

Synerjee January 8th, 2015 3:08 AM

I wash my hair on alternate days, so it varies. I take roughly 20 - 30 minutes if I'm washing my hair and around 10 if I'm not. I love just standing under the warm water and relaxing - that's the main reason for me taking so long.

Parivir January 9th, 2015 5:45 AM

On weekend mornings I usually wake up on 4.30 to do my morning prayers. After that's over with, I head over to the bathroom, sit on the toilet, twist the showerhead around just so, and just let the warm water pelt me. It's incredibly relaxing, and I do a lot of self-reflection and just think a lot about anything that comes to mind. Sometimes I fall asleep and wake up two hours later and then I think about all the water-less african children and I have to deal with the guilt sigh

Any other time though I shower maybe 4-5 minutes? My school closes its gates on 6:30 and I live on the other side of the city (plus Jakarta's traffic is one of the world's worst) so I shower at the speed of light (and still end up late sometimes).

RaRa91 January 9th, 2015 11:39 AM

My showers always take forever. Even when I'm in 'rush mode' it still takes a good 15-20 minutes.

The sad part is I could finish up in about 5 minutes or so, but I love the hot water so much I just stand there singing most of the time.

Judge Mandolore Shepard January 12th, 2015 6:31 AM

I actually don't check how long I take a shower. Course there is one kind of shower that I find to be very uncomfortable. It is a cold shower. I prefer taking warm showers.

brygarde January 12th, 2015 6:43 AM

Oh my gosh, I know how annoying families can be. Mine is always harassing me about how long I take in the shower and bathroom overall. I usually take about. 15 minute showers, give or take, depending on whether or not my mom or dad is banging on the door. I like warm water and I like showering with music in the background too. My whole life, I showered like 95% of the time at late afternoon/night, but last semester I showered more in the morning and it was nice to be all refreshed and ready at the beginning of the day.

Platina Berlitz January 12th, 2015 12:41 PM

My showers take near 20 minutes, I think? Because my hair is so long I have to take extra care in scrubbing it...I cannot stand greasy hair. I like steamy warm showers, and I fight with myself in the winter because I never want to come out T_T

Dragon January 12th, 2015 1:44 PM

Arouuuund.. 25 minutes for me? Well, after the shower heats up that is; I can't really stand cold showers, haha. Mmm, during showers, I dunno, I just think about a lot of different things, like, what I plan to do in an hour from now, or maybe, some places I haven't been to? They sorta vary, haha. I really should try having like a music player in the background too; that'd be siiiick. ;__;

Oh and yeah, showers totally feel great afterward; feel like a neeew Dragon~! <33

Leviathan January 12th, 2015 4:45 PM

All told, I spend about 25 mins. 10 mins in the shower itself, a further 10 mins beforehand getting myself sorted and about 5 mins to dry off. Used to be longer when we had a bath and the silliest excuse for a 'shower' appliance.
