Nice. As you know I love zorua and Zoroark but the first dark type I took to the E4 was Krokodile in Black

Id say my second would be the Sandile line and if it was as "old" as Umbreon it would probably be comparable since its quite the awesome poke.

Anyways everyone be sure to check out:
Sandile the current POTW
The op (fixed from some issues with the memberlist as well as coloring not working well with fundamental)
And im still looking for feedback on this: pokemon matchups bi-weekly? Yes no maybe?
And why not answer this: Which dark type pokemon have people used the most? since sandile isnt as popular as some ill have this added as a current topic along with him :D

Google2.0 September 6th, 2015 9:52 PM

Glad you like it Dedenne ^^

@Lrachelr5: Umbreon because it's my favorite.

VillageofDragons September 7th, 2015 11:50 AM

And im still looking for feedback on this: pokemon matchups bi-weekly? Yes no maybe?

I believe that's a good idea. I'm all for it. :)

Lycanthropy September 8th, 2015 4:53 AM

POTW: Sandile
Sandile has an interesting concept. The first type that comes in mind when you think about a crocodile would be water (or that may just be me). However, dark type fits well too, comparing Bite and Crunch with a crocodile's jaws. But ground... I don't know.
Sandile looks cute and looks a lot better than Krookodile, whose color scheme makes it ugly in my opinion. I haven't used the Pokémon yet.

Houndoom is obviously the cutest dark type. But what about Zorua?

Which dark type pokemon have people used the most?
For me that's Houndoom, which shouldn't be very surprising.

Pokemon matchups bi-weekly? Yes no maybe?
Yes! Hopefully that will work out better than the last time I had to schedule a match against Dedenne.

Google2.0 September 8th, 2015 11:37 AM

What about Zorua? Umbreon is the best and cutest dark type. ^^

Dark Type Pokemon of The Week

http://img00.deviantart.net/63c6/i/2012/115/8/3/houndour_is_on_fire_by_wolflinx-d4xjtp8.png
Houndour
Houndour, The Dark Pokémon, they hunt as a coordinated pack and communicate with each other using a variety of cries to corner their prey. This Pokémon's remarkable teamwork is unparalleled. Around dawn, its ominous howl echoes through the area to announce that this is its territory.

Possible Questions:
Have you ever used it competitively or in-game?
Do you like it normal form or shiny form better?
Whats your overall thoughts on its design?
Maybe a little opinion on why houndoor was chosen to be the "dark" Pokemon?
If you could change houndoor in anyway what would you change?
Other thoughts?

Still trying out this new system and i like doing them ever wednesday it works! Thanks everyone for weighing in im going to try a dark type vs. dark type next week comparing who you like better and why maybe who would win in and a battle, and what could be done to make the pokemon better. Sound good?

VillageofDragons September 10th, 2015 2:02 PM

Uh... Dedenne, the thing says Houndoor instead of Houndour, XD.... Also, below that it says Sandile instead of Houndour or Houndoom, and goes on to describe it as howling.... Which one is the Pokemon of The Week?? Houndour, Houndoom, or Sandile?? LOL...

I swear english is my best class! I love how everyone probably just looked at it and laughed instead of correcting me thank you haha and its fixed.

VillageofDragons September 10th, 2015 10:58 PM

Houndour

Have you ever used it competitively or in-game?

Nope, never used it before

Do you like it normal form or shiny form better?

Shiny form definitely. It makes it look a lot cooler. :)

Whats your overall thoughts on its design?

It's nice. I like how it's based after a hellhound, and has the orange and black to back that up.

Maybe a little opinion on why houndoor was chosen to be the "dark" Pokemon?

Well I think Houndour and Houndoom were chosen to be dark types mainly because they're based after hellhounds, and are also partially colored black, so I guess that plays into it as well.

If you could change houndoor in anyway what would you change?

I would probably add a long bone to the top of his head that goes sideways and curls around his ears. Other than that, nothing.

Other thoughts?

None, other than that I love Pokemon that are based on dogs or cats, so Houndour is a favorite in my book. :)

Lycanthropy September 13th, 2015 6:15 AM

POTW: Houndour <3
I love Houndour and of course I have used it in-game, but not as much as I wanted. It's a shame the Pokémon is rarely obtainable early game. Even in its debut generation, gen II, you weren't able to find it prior the post-game part. It's not like it's a semi-legendary Pokémon or something.
Anyway, yes, I love Houndour's design, a hellhound seems the perfect dark type to me. Combined with fire it gives a nice unique type combination. It's a great special sweeper with Flamethrower and Crunch in the early games and Crunch luckily being able to be replaced by Dark Pulse later on.

Thanks everyone for weighing in im going to try a dark type vs. dark type next week comparing who you like better and why maybe who would win in and a battle, and what could be done to make the pokemon better. Sound good?
Yes! ^^

Dark Type Pokemon of The Week

http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/villains/images/0/0e/Darkrai.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20140515053842
Darkrai
Darkrai, The Pitch-Black Pokémon. It can lull people to sleep and make them dream. It is active during nights of the new moon. Folklore has it that on moonless nights, this Pokémon will make people see horrific nightmares.

Possible Questions:
Have you ever used it competitively or in-game?
Whats your overall thoughts on its design?
Did you ever go to fullmoon island?
Do you consider Darkrai evil or good?
If you could change Darkrai in anyway what would you change?
What are your thoughts on his signature move Dark Void?
Other thoughts?

Remember Comparison is coming up next week dont miss it! Also be sure to check out the club feedback thread for an event soon to come. Id also like to thank all the members of the Dark Type club we've come a long way from a very weird op to a cool css one and from 7 members to over 20! Thanks for making the club what it is and for answering all those topics. The comparison will be late (sorry guys!) since school is busy.

VillageofDragons September 16th, 2015 10:46 AM

Darkrai

Have you ever used it competitively or in-game?

Nope, never used it in-game, even though I started Pokemon with generation 4 and it's my favorite Dark type legendary... :)

Whats your overall thoughts on its design?

I just LOVE how it's designed. It's the nightmare Pokemon, and it looks like that too the way it's designed and has a red underbite mouth that can just suck up all the souls it needs to. :)

Did you ever go to fullmoon island?

No, not in generation 4 even though it was possible, I could never figure out how to since I was so young. I have captured a Darkrai in later generations though. :)

Do you consider Darkrai evil or good?

I don't consider Darkrai evil OR good. I consider it to be on its own agenda and fly solo. If someone wants to mess with it, you better watch out! But if someone wants to team up with it, I don't think it would mind... :)

If you could change Darkrai in anyway what would you change?

If Darkrai were to be given a legendary mega evolution I would simply add long, black, dark angel wings to its mega evolution as well as make its eyes turn red and give it sharper claws. And its typing would change to Dark/Flying type. :)

What are your thoughts on his signature move Dark Void?

I simply LOVE its move Dark Void cause its one of the best moves in the game that's used to put Pokemon to sleep, and it works very well for Darkrai and his lore. :)

Other thoughts?

Nope, other than it is still my favorite Dark type legendary, even above Yveltal.... :)

Dark Type Bi-Monthly Showcase
http://i.imgur.com/NWhNGLN.png
Shiftry vs. Cacturne

Shiftry, The Wickid Pokémon. It is a mysterious Pokémon that is said to live atop towering trees dating back over a thousand years. It creates terrific windstorms with the fans it holds which generate awesome gusts of wind at a speed close to 100 feet per second. The whipped-up wind blows anything away. It chooses to live quietly deep in forests. It can read the foe's mind and take preemptive action.
Cacturne, The Scarecrow Pokémon. During the daytime, Cacturne remains unmoving so that it does not lose any moisture to the harsh desert sun. This Pokémon becomes active at night when the temperature drops. If a traveler is going through a desert in the thick of night, Cacturne will follow in a ragtag group. The Pokémon are biding their time, waiting for the traveler to tire and become incapable of moving.

Coding is broken here dont mind me (if you see me say something)
Lets Compare!

Which dark type do you think has the best design and why?
Who do you think might win in a battle?
Which dark type would you choose if you had to?
In your opinion do you think one is better than the other? Why? Are there specific moves that one can learn that may give them the advantage? Or does one just clearly have better stats?
Which one is your overall favorite and why?
Other Thoughts?

Sorry for the lateness! I may be alittle slow on when i can and can't get the topics up cause y'know school and all but what do you guys think of the first pokemon showcase? Hope it looks good and all especially since Darkrai wasnt too popular. Also i picked two dark types that have typing in common to make the first comparison alittle easier to determine.

Wicked3DS September 28th, 2015 8:54 PM

Which dark type do you think has the best design and why?

Shiftry, it's a bit more unique, even if it is kinda weird.

Who do you think might win in a battle?

Shiftry, it's faster and gets X-scissor while Cacturne only gets Pin Missile.

Which dark type would you choose if you had to?

Shiftry as it's a bit better in battle for my play style and I like it more anyway.

In your opinion do you think one is better than the other? Why? Are there specific moves that one can learn that may give them the advantage? Or does one just clearly have better stats?

Cacturne has better attacking stats while Shiftry has better Speed (they have equal defenses) and Shiftry gets X-scissor while Cacturne does not, which I think gives it a major advantage.

Which one is your overall favorite and why?

Shiftry because it is a bit more versatile than Cacturne.

I like Shifty more, only because I like Nuzleaf a lot. To be honest, it's hard to pick one over the other!
Which dark type gym leader/elite four member is your favorite?
Grimsley in Unova. I really liked his entire team a lot, especially since he had a Scrafty and Bisharp.
What is your all time favorite dark type and why?
Scrafty! The first dark type I caught in Unova was a Scraggy and it was love at first sight.
What is your favorite secondary typing for a Dark-type?
Fighting, because I also really love fighting-type Pokemon.
Do you always use a dark type on your ingame team? Is it a necessity to always have one?
Absolutely! Unless I'm doing a themed run where that's not possible, my main runs usually include a dark type.

Shiftry vs. Cacturne
Which dark type do you think has the best design and why?
This one goes to Shiftry. While I think it's ugly and I don't get its feet, Cacturne looks very plain and boring as its just a cactus in man-shape with a hat (which kinda makes sense as it's apparently a scarecrow, which I only just learned).

Who do you think might win in a battle?
Shiftry can learn X-Scissor, ×4 to Cacturne. GG.

Which dark type would you choose if you had to?
Cacturne, as I'm not really a fan of Shiftry (even when it won in above two categories).

In your opinion do you think one is better than the other? Why? Are there specific moves that one can learn that may give them the advantage? Or does one just clearly have better stats?
They're both offensive Pokémon, while Cacturne can learn some handy tanky moves and Sand Veil can help a lot. There's not much difference in their stats, but Shiftry has a bigger movepool which gives it the advantage.

Which one is your overall favorite and why?
Still being stubborn and saying Cacturne.

Dark Type Pokemon of The Week

http://pre07.deviantart.net/3ed8/th/pre/f/2013/202/d/b/deino_by_rabid_fangirl212-d6eh7jx.png
Deino
Deino, The Irate Pokémon. Lacking sight, it's unaware of its surroundings, so it bumps into things and eats anything that moves. Their bodies are covered in wounds

Possible Questions:
Have you ever used it in-game?
Whats your overall thoughts on its design?
What are your thoughts on its typing? Does it seem like a dark type?

Welcome to the club im adding you now!
Oh and i love the artwork thats quite good and you picked one of my favorite dark types Zoroark!
And btw feel free to chat about the current POTW oh and im adding you to the op now ;)

Also my thoughts on the comparison:
Which dark type do you think has the best design and why?
Shiftry for design its definately more creative than cacturne and it has more details

Who do you think might win in a battle?
Also hard since theyre both dark and grass types but i think cacturne because it can learn certain moves to protect itself against shiftry while beating him up!

Which dark type would you choose if you had to?
Probably cacturne since hes definately outshined often

In your opinion do you think one is better than the other? Why? Are there specific moves that one can learn that may give them the advantage? Or does one just clearly have better stats?
Shiftry cause it can learn extrassensory with some cool dark type and grass type moves also i like the line and we all know leaf blade is probably better than needle arm xD also it can learn more dark type moves than cacturne so bonus.

Which one is your overall favorite and why?
My fav is cacturne because he's easier to level up from a cacnea than seedot is to nuzleaf with only having bide and hes quite powerful and did great for me in sapphire.

Otamajakushi October 5th, 2015 5:59 PM

Have you ever used it in-game?
Unfortunately not. I've always seemed to forget about it. I'm not sure why, because Hydreigon is an absolutely adorable and cool-looking Pokemon. I think I may endeavor to use it someday, perhaps during a Dragon-type monotype.
Whats your overall thoughts on its design?
I think it looks really cool and I can certainly appreciate how they carried over the design of its face to its evolution, Zweilous. After it evolves into Hydreigon, it opens its eyes, which can be regarded as symbolic to some people. On top of that, Black, Purple, and Blue are my favorite colors of all time!
What are your thoughts on its typing? Does it seem like a dark type?
The typing is fantastic. Of course being dark is amazing, but coupled with dragon type can make this Pokemon fierce. The combo certainly isn't tickity-tak by any measure.
If you could change Deino in anyway what would you change?
I think I would remove the "covered in wounds" part of its dex entry. It's just so sad and unfortunate that that has to be a thing. It does give it personality though, but I'd just feel awful that I'd be fostering that.

What'd you guys think of the Pokemon Comparison? Should it continue Bi-Monthly?
This is tough, because it's usually hard to pick just one. I love 'em all!
How does the OP look? Theres been some issues recently but i think everything is good now right?
I have enumerated some suggestion that I think would be beneficial:
 1. Make the images of the POW clickable to the posts in which they were featured.
 2. Pangoro's sprite is missing!
Everything else is on point!

Lycanthropy October 13th, 2015 10:05 AM

POTW: Deino
I don't find Deino the most interesting Pokémon, mainly because I'm not a real fan of its ability: Hustle. I always rely on full accuracy moves during a normal playthrough and Hustle just breaks that. There's also not much dragon (darkness is certainly present as its blind )on the Pokémon yet, but that will change upon reaching its final form, which is definitely worth it. I haven't used it yet however. It's evolution level is really high. You get Salamence in level 50, the same level in which Deino evolves into Zweilous. I mean, what the hell?

Feedback Questions:
What'd you guys think of the Pokemon Comparison? Should it continue Bi-Monthly?

I like it, so yes.
What can i do to make the Comparison and POTW more interesting and better looking?
Actually, I don't think there's much to improve about those. Maybe alternating them with some more regular topics would help.
How can i run the club better? Any suggestions or events you think we should host?
In general you're doing well! Regarding events, there are tons of options: drawing a Pokémon, writing a short story and designing a dark type fakemon come to my mind at the moment.
How does the OP look? Theres been some issues recently but i think everything is good now right? (What can we improve in the OP? Do you like the links to current POTW or no?)
It looks great, there's as pointed out by Otamajakushi, a few Pokémon missing in the list, but that's a detail.
Other thoughts?
It's clearly an eye and not a moon!

Wicked3DS October 14th, 2015 7:30 PM

Deino responses:

Have you ever used it in-game?

Never have, and I'm not sure I will since it takes REALLY long to evolve this line.

Whats your overall thoughts on its design?

Two headed Pokémon aren't all that unique, but this design is and it's pretty cool if you ask me.

What are your thoughts on its typing? Does it seem like a dark type?

Considering its characteristics and judging by its design, Dark-type seems to suit it very well.

If you could change Deino in anyway what would you change?

Nothing really, it fits well for the concept that it was given in my opinion.

Other thoughts?

Deino is a pretty cool middle stage Pokémon and it fits very well with its line.

Sableye vs. Pangoro

Sableye, The Darkness Pokémon. It digs the ground with sharpened claws to find rocks that it eats. Substances in the eaten rocks crystallize and rise up to its body surface. They lead quiet lives deep inside caverns. They are feared, however, because they are thought to steal the spirits of people when their eyes burn with a sinister glow in the darkness. It digs branching holes in caves using its sharp claws in search of food--raw gems.
Pangoro, The Daunting Pokémon. Although it posses a violent temperament, it won't put up with bullying. It uses the leaf in its mouth to sense the movements of its enemies. It charges ahead and bashes its opponents like a berserker, uncaring about any hits it might take. Its arms are mighty enough to snap a telephone pole.

Which dark type do you think has the best design and why?
I think Pangoro has a better design. It's a giant fighting panda!
Who do you think might win in a battle?
I think Sableye would win in a battle. Pangoro is part fighting-type, which doesn't help it at all.
Which dark type would you choose if you had to?
Sableye, in a heartbeat! I love it!
Which one is your overall favorite and why?
Sableye. I used one in a playthrough once and I enjoyed it's play style. That's not to say I don't like Pangoro. I've just never had a Pangoro before.
Which type combination do you like better Pangoro's? or Sableye's?
Sableye. I like the Dark/Ghost match up well.

Reason you love dark types: No reason, always been partial to them ever since I realised Dark type was a thing, and I typically lean towards the dark element/side of things no matter what game I'm playing. I love anything to do with stealth, shadows etc. so Darks fit the bill pretty nicely.
3 partner Pokemon: Mightyena, Absol, Zoroark
Answer any current or past topic: Most evil-looking Dark? Torn between Cacturne and Malamar. Those eyes. I suppose I'd go with Cacturne.

Which dark type do you think has the best design and why?
Sableye. Reminds me of the Heartless/Unversed in Kingdom Hearts, as well as Stitch from Lilo & Stitch. It's also fairly original. I like Pangoro but he's literally just a bipedal Mafia panda.

Who do you think might win in a battle?
Sableye. At least in his mega forme.

Which dark type would you choose if you had to?
Sableye.

In your opinion do you think one is better than the other? Why? Are there specific moves that one can learn that may give them the advantage? Or does one just clearly have better stats?
Both Prankster and Magic Bounce are great abilities that Sableye has access to and Pangoro doesn't, but I think they both fill entirely different niches in battle, so I can't really say one is better than the other from a competitive point of view.

Which one is your overall favorite and why?
Sableye for aforementioned reasons, plus they were in a horde before it was cool (PMD Time/Darkness/Sky, anyone?).

Which type combination do you like better Pangoro's? or Sableye's?
Well, Pangoro has a handy immunity to Psychic where his second type would be weak to it, but Dark/Ghost has only one weakness and Sableye is a very defensive Pokémon to begin with, so Sableye's combo. Plus Dark/Ghost is a cool combo only two Mons have access to.

It may be late, but welcome to the club, Thief! Let me guess, Thief is your favorite dark type move?

Anyway, I agree that Sableye has a great typing, without weaknesses in the past, one now. It's perfect for a wall and it's Mega is like the best wall ever. I don't think it has ever happened I didn't have trouble by getting it down and I forget Stealth Rock is affected by Magic Bounce too too often.

Also, Dedenne, I can't really answer this comparison. The Pokémon aren't comparable, they're completely different. I have absolutely no idea which one of them I like more. They are both very useful in their own way.
Sableye may have full resistance against Pangoro's fighting attacks, but its own won't do a lot of damage either. Still, with it's Will-o-Wisp and Recover (both while making use of Prankster) it can completely block Pangoro's attacks, so I expect the panda to be unable to keep up with it.

Haha, well of course.

Yeah, I had so much fun with Mega Sableye in that Hoenn-only online tourney where we won HA Tyrunt. Set up a few Calm Minds, Will-O-Wisp any Meta or Salamence... Mega Altaria wasn't particularly fun to deal with though.

& Nothing is more satisfying than Mega Bouncing SR/Toxic Spikes/Thunder Wave at the start of a battle.

Dark Type Pokemon of The Week

If you could change Zorua in anyway what would you change?
What are your thoughts on its (beautiful) shiny form?

Welcome to the club Thief! Great choice on partner pokemon (especially Zoroark)
Also i love your username fits with the dark type tbh haha hope you enjoy your time here!

Thief October 31st, 2015 8:01 AM

Have you ever used it in-game?
Yep. Love it.

Whats your overall thoughts on its design?
Whereas Zoroark looks more like an (awesome) porcupine/werewolf hybrid, Zorua fits the fox theme and pulls it off really well. Love the colours too.

Do you like the Zorua and Zoroarks line ability Illusion?
Definitely. So much fun to mess around with when it's your own Pokémon, but I always get tricked when someone-else's Zoro comes out lol.

If you could change Zorua in anyway what would you change?
I don't see any need to change it, but it always bothers me when a Pokémon doesn't have a Hidden Ability available. Same with Deino. For the sake of curiosity I'd like to know what it'll be.

What are your thoughts on its (beautiful) shiny form?
It's definitely one of the better colour combos. I'm mostly just thankful it's not the same ugly green colour poor Hydreigon was cursed with. The only Dark/Dragon line, an amazing hydra-design and it gets a shiny like that... Sigh.

(And thanks for the welcome, haha.)

Zorua

Have you ever used it in-game?

Never used it or Zoroark.

Whats your overall thoughts on its design?

It's very cute, I like it.

Do you like the Zorua and Zoroarks line ability Illusion?

It's pretty cool and very unique.

If you could change Zorua in anyway what would you change?

It could stand to look a tad more intimidating, as long as it stays cute :P

What are your thoughts on its (beautiful) shiny form?

It's pretty cool, though I like red better so it's still not as good looking for me.

Other thoughts?

Zorua is a pretty cool Pokémon, but having never used it, I don't know a lot about it. I most vividly remember it being revealed when Black and White were first announced.

Otamajakushi November 10th, 2015 4:48 PM

Have you ever used it in-game?
Most definitely! I've used it in ORAS when I was doing a dark-type run though Hoenn.

Whats your overall thoughts on its design?
It's cute and evolves into a badass Pokemon.

Do you like the Zorua and Zoroarks line ability Illusion?
Yep! You can really trick people some times, and that's a load of fun.

If you could change Zorua in anyway what would you change?
I wouldn't, personally.

What are your thoughts on its (beautiful) shiny form?
It's... beautiful. Blue. Nuff' said.

Dark Type Pokemon of The Week

Liepard
Liepard, The Cruel Pokemon, Stealthily, it sneaks up on its target, striking from behind before its victim has a chance to react. These Pokémon also vanish and appear unexpectedly. Many Trainers are drawn to their beautiful form and fur.

Possible Questions:
Have you ever used it in-game or competitively?
Whats your overall thoughts on its design?
If you could change Liepardin anyway what would you change?
What are your thoughts on its shiny form?
Do you think it deserves a mega evolution.
Other thoughts?

This week we are skipping the pokemon comparison which will be next week as long as nothing else changes. Anyways lets discuss Liepard!

Have you ever used it in-game or competitively?

Nope, never.

Whats your overall thoughts on its design?

It's okay, it doesn't really do much for me good or bad.

If you could change Liepard in anyway what would you change?

I feel like it could look a little more intimidating, like a Dark-type should.

What are your thoughts on its shiny form?

Not a huge fan of the color honestly.

Do you think it deserves a mega evolution?

There's many others that I want Megas for first, so I'm gonna say no.

Other thoughts?

Liepard is okay. It's definitely not one of my favorites, but it's really not terrible either I suppose.

Have you ever used it in-game or competitively? - Nope and I probably won't. It's fast, but it is also very weak.

Whats your overall thoughts on its design? - For a leopard Pokemon, it's cute and I think it looks cool.

If you could change Liepardin anyway what would you change? - Who's Liepardin? I know it's a typo, and I'm just playin', but I would give it a bit more defense and special defense.

What are your thoughts on its shiny form? - I like it, but I honestly like the normal Liepard more.

Do you think it deserves a mega evolution. - I do think it could use one to definitely help it competitively.

Other thoughts? - Not any that I can think of.

@Dedenne1, I love the whole Splatoon thing you've got going on!

Have you ever used it in-game or competitively?
No, I want to, but I just never have got around to it.

Whats your overall thoughts on its design?
I think it's pretty good for a cat-like Pokemon. I don't find it to be any better or worse than other designs.

If you could change Liepard in anyway what would you change?
I don't think anything needs to be changed about it.

What are your thoughts on its shiny form?
I'd totally rock that on my team.

Do you think it deserves a mega evolution.
No.

Other thoughts?
It's not that I dislike it, it's just that I've never used or wanted to use it. It's a cute Pokemon, but I just don't have any experience with it. Some day I will though. The next time I do a dark-type monotype run, I'll definitely include it on my team.

Dark Type Pokemon of The Week

http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/pokemon/images/2/2f/Mega_Gyarados_in_anime.png/revision/latest?cb=20140529065253
Mega Gyarados
Mega Gyarados, The Atrocious Pokémon. In ancient literature, there is a record of a Gyarados that razed a village when violence flared. Rarely seen in the wild. Huge and vicious, it is capable of destroying entire cities in a rage. They say that during past strife, Gyarados would appear and leave blazing ruins in its wake. Once it begins to rampage, a Gyarados will burn everything down, even in a harsh storm.

Possible Questions:
Have you ever Gyarados' mega in-game or competitively?
Whats your overall thoughts on its design?
If you could change Mega Gyarados anyway what would you change?
Did you expect him to have a dark type mega?
Do you think the water/dragon typing would be more appropriate for gyarados' mega?
Other thoughts?

Ya we're still skipping comparison for like idk a week or something i got most of it done just need some questions so this will be our first mega discussion lets see how it goes!

My opinion on liepard is kinda the same as panchams although i must say i do like the design liepard has and i think its a fitting dark type buuuuuut its pretty weak and has a low attack and defense so maybe a mega might give it alittle more power.

Great another mistake because you know i do that in like every POTW :P

And you made one on this as well. You put Liepard instead of Mega Gyrados beneath the picture X3. Anywho, here's my answers for Mega Gyardos.

nvm, you fixed it before I submitted my post X3

Have you ever Gyarados' mega in-game or competitively? - I think I have used Mega Gyrados on Showdown a few times through Randoms, but I can't remember, so just in case I'm going to say that I haven't.

Whats your overall thoughts on its design? - I'm okay with it. I like it over its regular form, but I'm just okay with it.

If you could change Mega Gyarados anyway what would you change? - Personally, and this is just me, but I think the ability it gets, Mold Breaker, should be different. I like Mold Breaker as an ability, but I think that it could've gotten another ability that would benefit it even more.

Did you expect him to have a dark type mega? - No I didn't. I thought Mega Gyrados was gonna be part Dragon type, even by its design, I never did expect it to be a Dark type.

Do you think the water/dragon typing would be more appropriate for gyarados' mega? - I think Dragon should've been part of its typing originally before its mega as it never did make sense to me on why it is part flying type, especially since it can only learn 1 flying type attack and it didn't even get a chance to learn it until gen 4. Besides that, I think Dark type benefits it as a mega more than if it were to be part Dragon type, in my opinion.

Dark Type Pokemon of The Week

http://img13.deviantart.net/621b/i/2011/236/7/8/murkrow_by_land_walker-d47oas7.jpg
Murkrow
Murkrow, The Darkness Pokémon. Feared by many, it is believed to bring misfortune to all who see it at night. When it is chased, it lures it's attackers into a Dark Mountain with trails where the attacker will get lost. It hides any shiny objects it finds in a secret location. Murkrow and Meowth have been known to loot each other's stashes. It has even been known to steal rings off of women.

Reason you love dark types: Hmmm where to start? Dark types have a lot of power competitively with their STAB moves. Knock Off in the newer gens is an excellent move that comes in at 105 power wielded by a dark type. Dark type mons come in a wide array of stat totals that make them good as walls, wall breakers, sweepers, you name it and I'm sure you could find a dark type to fit the role. I've always liked the sleek look the color black adds and dark type mons love to come in that color. They're also immune to psychic which is amazing when you think about it.

Have you ever Murkrow in-game?: I used a Murkrow in gold version but I hardly remember it. It was a looong time ago XD
Whats your overall thoughts on its design?: I have a lot of love for it's design. Just look at that face. That glint in it's eye just let's you know this mischievous little fella' is going to be a career troll and that's cool with me. The icing on the cake is the mafioso feel his "hat" gives him. Overall a simple crow design done well so kudos to gamefreak.
If you could change Murkrow anyway what would you change?: His shiny would be less magenta and more a deep purple.
Did you expect him to ever get an evolution? (If you played the original johto games): I figured he would eventually. With the release of G/S I noticed that GF has the potential to show mons without evolutions some love with one. To be fair there are still plenty of mons without an evolution but I nailed it this time :D.
Other thoughts? It's a shame his design before his evolution was set in a way that doesn't allow him to be in LC.

If you could change Murkrow anyway what would you change? - Currently nothing

Did you expect him to ever get an evolution? (If you played the original johto games) He steal rings off of women, he loots wild Meowth's stashes, and brings misfortune what else do you want?

Whats your overall thoughts on its design?
It's perfect. It's dark, menacing, and fierce. Everyone likes crows!

If you could change Murkrow anyway what would you change?
I wouldn't change anything.

Did you expect him to ever get an evolution? (If you played the original johto games)
Honestly? No. At the time, there was no guarantee of a future release, so there was no reason to expect it. The series was so very new so I cherished the adventures I had. However, I was very pleased when Honchkrow came to the scene.

He steal rings off of women, he loots wild Meowth's stashes, and brings misfortune what else do you want?

Malamat. Was there ever something that looked as menacing as a squid that's been turned upside-down that hypnotizes its prey and then wraps it up in tentacles?

No. No there hasn't. And look at that name.
MALamar.

Other Dark-types are almost as malicious in looks, like Darkrai, Hoopa Unbound, and Yveltal (sorry).

Were you happy with all the new Dark-types in Gen 6?

Yes, especially Greninja. I chose Froakie as my starter and was pleased to find out that its evolution was dark type.

LordGrizz January 4th, 2016 6:07 PM

Were you happy with all the new Dark-types in Gen 6?
I guess for the most part yes. There really weren't all that many new dark types added in 6th gen so I guess I could break it down.

Greninja: Badass I like the whole shinobi theme even if the tongue scarf seems kinda goofy.
Pangoro: Not your little brothers kung fu panda, and thats fine with me :D.
Malamar: Ehh it's ok but it's design just didn't pop to me. Inkay as a side note pretty adorable though.
Yveltal: Sorta reminds me of something you'd see in a Final Fantasy game which works for me.
Mega Gyarados: I was actually kinda surprised that Gyarados got a mega and went dark instead of dragon. The designs cool I just didn't think it would get a dark typing though I guess the current crop of water/dark types weren't up to par in gamefreaks mind.

Were you happy with all the new Dark-types in Gen 6?

Yes, especially Greninja and Pangoro to the point I used both in my X playthrough, and my Frogadier managed to fully evolve just in time to get Pancham to evolve so neat timing on my part. Malamar is also very fun, especially with Contrary, and it could have been better competitively if it hadn't have been for the fact it has no proper resistances.

Hmmm, I don't think we've been keeping up with any of the topics. I think I'll try to get us back on track. My recommendation, @Dedenne1, is to announce new topics. I typically go to the very back of the post to look for updates and such.

That said, this is our current topic on the first post:

Which Dark type is the most evil looking in your opinion? Why?

I think Houndoom/Mega Houndoom is pretty evil looking, and it is because of that fact that I especially would want it on my team. Look, he even has a little skull on his chest:

http://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/5/51/229Houndoom.png

I think the horns and the tail add to the effect. It gives him a much more menacing persona and I find that awesome. That's amplified drastically with Mega Houndoom:

http://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/3/39/229Houndoom-Mega.png

Awww, isn't he cool!

LordGrizz January 14th, 2016 4:33 PM

Which Dark type is the most evil looking in your opinion? Why? Hmm well I'd be inclined to agree that Houndoom is probably the most evil looking dark type I'd have to also make an argument for my man Yveltal. Something about the red and black color scheme definitely makes you think of a denizen of hell what really cements this is (and don't laugh) the horns. As I said in my previous post the horns on a flying type creature is very reminiscent of Final Fantasy monsters. I don't know if that's why but when I saw those horns on the pokemon x boxart I was like "O yeah definitely evil". Turns out I was right and he is a pretty evil sounding pokemon. So my vote goes to the Demon Turkey Lord
Yveltal

Dark Type Pokemon of The Week

http://www.propokemon.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/rise_of_yveltal___red_fullhd_by_dekus-d6bbkxj.png
Yveltal
Yveltal, The Destruction Pokémon. When this legendary Pokémon's wings and tail feathers spread wide and glow red, it absorbs the life force of living creatures. When its life comes to an end, it absorbs the life energy of every living thing and turns into a cocoon once more.

Possible Questions:
Have you ever Yveltal in-game or competitively? Did you obtain one in gen 6?
Whats your overall thoughts on its design?
If you could change Yveltal in any way what would you change?
Did you see him as a dark/flying type?
Is he not one of the most awesome looking dark types your eyes have ever laid eyes on?
Other thoughts?

I....am so sorry.......Im going to try to be more active for one and for two look at that amazing Yveltal costume! LOOK AT IT! I mean.....*cough cough* its pretty cool you know.

Otamajakushi January 18th, 2016 12:38 AM

Have you ever Yveltal in-game or competitively? Did you obtain one in gen 6?
I can't say that I've ever Yveltal'd in either of those situations, but I would be interested in having one on my team at some point. I'd probably name it Bacon. I do have one, though, but it's safe and sound in my living dex.

Whats your overall thoughts on its design?

Bacon. I like it! It's pretty fierce and I think if I were to encounter one for real, I'd be pretty amazed. I'd hug it.

If you could change Yveltal in any way what would you change?
I probably wouldn't make his tail a hand. Just sayin', it's a little weird. Hardly an issue though; it's pretty badass.

Did you see him as a dark/flying type?

Easily. Hands down.

Is he not one of the most awesome looking dark types your eyes have ever laid eyes on?
Definitely one of the coolest out there! Not #1 on my list, but it's on there. All of the dark type Pokemon are very cool looking in general, so I think it's one of the best types.

Other thoughts?
Bacon.

Adam Levine January 24th, 2016 12:10 AM

What are your overall thoughts on Yveltal's design?

Simply put, it's a bloodthirsty chicken. It looks a bit like a vampire, which I like.

And who cannot like that delicious Shiny Yveltal?

I obtained 2 actually. My first Yveltal was obtained from a trade since I needed one to complete Pokedex and I had no Y version and that time. After owning a Y version myself, I kinda used it for in-game, but it was a one time thing. Okay, that sounds nasty. :P
Whats your overall thoughts on its design?
To be real honest, I'm still not a fan of its design...
If you could change Yveltal in any way what would you change?
The whole design, I just can't see it working. I don't even wanna look at that thing...
Did you see him as a dark/flying type?
Surprisingly yes, the design does scream Dark/Flying literally. Still a bad design, imo.
Is he not one of the most awesome looking dark types your eyes have ever laid eyes on?
Darkrai is a lot better than this Yveltal. Even Absol, a non-lengendary is better looking than Yveltal.

Dark Type Bi-Monthly Showcase
http://media.pldh.net/pokemon/ken_sugimori/update_bw/630.png..........http://media.pldh.net/pokemon/ken_sugimori/update_bw/553.png
Mandibuzz vs. Krookodile

Mandibuzz, The Bone Vulture Pokémon. Watching from the sky, they swoop to strike weakened Pokémon on the ground. They decorate themselves with bones. It makes a nest out of bones it finds. It grabs weakened prey in its talons and hauls it to its nest of bones
Krookodile, .The Intimidation Pokémon. Very violent Pokémon, they try to clamp down on anything that moves in front of their eyes. They never allow prey to escape. Their jaws are so powerful, they can crush the body of an automobile. It can expand the focus of its eyes, enabling it to see objects in the far distance as if it were using binoculars.

Thought we'd do another comparison for this week :D also i hate this coding...seriously its annoying i swear theres gonna be some grammatical issues cause i think i moved the definitions around atleast 10 times i mean first Krookodile's description was under Mandibuzz then there was just 2 identical Mandibuzz descriptions then i got a 404 error like umm ya probably messed up xD

Which dark type do you think has the best design and why?
I prefer Krookodile, while Mandibuzz's macabre design is hella good too. Those stripes, shades, and snout. Hmmm... Perfect. (:
Who do you think might win in a battle?
While Mandibuzz has a type advantage for being a Flying-type, Krookodile is able to learn Thunder Fang and Rock-type moves. So Krookodile wins naturally.
Which dark type would you choose if you had to?
Naturally Krookodile.
In your opinion do you think one is better than the other? Why? Are there specific moves that one can learn that may give them the advantage? Or does one just clearly have better stats?
Krookodile has a respectable Speed stat, great Ability which is Moxie. It is also able to learn some moves for coverage
Which one is your overall favorite and why?
Krookodile! Why? That's actually personal. -blushes-

Adam Levine January 28th, 2016 4:43 AM

Which dark type do you think has the best design and why?

Mandibuzz. Because it's a vulture with bones.

Who do you think might win in a battle?

Krookodile seems like the victor. It has a great offensive capability, whilst Mandibuzz is more defensive.

In your opinion do you think one is better than the other? Why? Are there specific moves that one can learn that may give them the advantage? Or does one just clearly have better stats?

True fact: In Gen V, their base stat totals are almost the same, just off by one.

Anyway, I think Mandibuzz is better. While Krookodile is really cool to use, Mandibuzz is one of those support Pokémon everybody needs. Also Mandibuzz is a great wall.

Which one is your overall favorite and why?

Mandibuzz. Again, because it looks so vile for a bird. And its ability to compete in the metagame well.

Which dark type do you think has the best design and why?
Krookodile because I thought the episodes it was in were really neat and I think it's a neat looking Pokemon. Mandibuzz is still very awesome looking though.

Who do you think might win in a battle?
Krookodile because I'm biased and can't give an objective answer. It's so awesome!

Which dark type would you choose if you had to?
I would choose Krookodile.

Which one is your overall favorite and why?
Krookodile, but I'd totally rock both on a team.

Dark Type Move of The Week

http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/pokemon/images/f/ff/Pangoro_Dark_Pulse.png/revision/latest?cb=20150517210243
Dark Pulse
The user releases a horrible aura imbued with dark thoughts. It may also make the target flinch.

Possible Questions:
Would you say you teach your dark types this move alot?
Overall opinion of the move?
Should anything be changed about the move? (added effects, power higher, other stats increased?)

Other thoughts?

Ya we are gonna try this if it doesnt work out thats ok but i thought it was a good idea of Sun's so lets see how it goes!

Would you say you teach your dark types this move alot?
yes, flinching chance is great.
Overall opinion of the move?
Better than Crunch.
Should anything be changed about the move? (added effects, power higher, other stats increased?) Base power 90

Otamajakushi February 6th, 2016 11:52 AM

Would you say you teach your dark types this move a lot? Overall Opinion?
Haha! Probably WAY more than I'd like to admit. I really like this move overall and I really like special moves, especially pulse and beam moves. Dark Pulse is probably my favorite dark-type move, aside from Night Slash, and I do try to make it a point to teach it to my dark-type friends.

Should anything be changed about the move? (added effects, power higher, other stats increased?)
Nah! It has a pretty effect, but I might be inclined to give it a power of 90. Oh, I just found out that the power would be 120 for Pokemon that have the Mega-Launcher ability. You know what this means, right Dedenne1? I need to get me a Clawitzer! Look at that! It can learn all of my favorite moves: Aura Sphere :D :D :D, Dark Pulse, Dragon Pulse, and Water Pulse. PULSE PULSE PULSE!

Sun February 6th, 2016 11:59 AM

Would you say you teach your dark types this move alot?
If they are Special based Dark-type or Lucario (in Gen IV), then this move is needed. (:
Overall opinion of the move?
As Kaneki said it has a flinch chance, though the percentage is decent for me, hahaha.
Should anything be changed about the move? (added effects, power higher, other stats increased?)
At least 85/90 BP in my opinion OR 30% flinch chance.

Lycanthropy February 7th, 2016 6:57 AM

Move of the Week: Dark Pulse
Dark Pulse is the strongest dark type move that's not a signature move (I wouldn't complain if Night Daze became available for more Pokémon though), but its base power still isn't very impressive. As many already mentioned, 90 base power would be very nice.
Still, it's definitely a move I use a lot, on any special dark type. It's certainly a must for my favorite dark Pokémon Houndoom.

Adam Levine February 7th, 2016 4:31 PM

Would you say you teach your dark types this move alot?

I hadn't really used it much, but I kept spamming the move with my Lucario in PMD. I like it and am not disappointed.

Overall opinion of the move?

Dark Pulse is a boss in Triple and Double Battles, and its ability to flinch makes it even more awesome. I love the move overall.

Should anything be changed about the move?

Not really. It would be a little too overpowered even by adding 5 base power to it (considering Triple and Double Battles) so it's just in its perfect state.

Dark Type Pokemon of The Week

http://pldh.net/media/gallery/the493/skuntank.jpg
Skunktank
The Skunk Pokémon. It sprays a vile-smelling fluid from the tip of its tail to attack. Its range is over 160 feet.It sprays a stinky fluid from its tail. The fluid smells worse the longer it is allowed to fester. It attacks by spraying a horribly smelly fluid from the tip of its tail. Attacks from above confound it. The stench dulls after a few squirts.

Possible Questions:
What are your overall thoughts on Skunktank?
Have you ever Skunktank in-game or competitively?
Whats your overall thoughts on its design?
If you could change Skunktankin any way what would you change?
Does he make for a good dark type?
Other thoughts?

Ya idk how i forgot him but i did and hes one of the few pokemon that we havent done for POTW. Anyways im quite happy with the move of the week so i think we'll stick with it and also next week should be a pokemon comparison and should be right on time and not a day late haha.

Also for dark pulse i would say I love the move and its pretty well created (i also love its animation in gen 4) Id like to see some more added on effects maybe confusion or paralysis from just how scary it is and id like to give its power +10 just to give it that extra power but as Otamajakushi said with the Mega Launcher ability that might be a bit off the charts haha

Oh and ya ill be answering the topic at hand for now on as well cause idk somehow ive been forgetting to do that xD

also by the way if you used it in game did you use it with flamethrower? Cause that is freaking cool

Sun February 10th, 2016 3:56 PM

What are your overall thoughts on Skunktank?
I love Stunky, the typing is also unique for the whole line and Drapion.
Have you ever Skunktank in-game or competitively?
Neither, I'm not a fan of its stats. Its moveset is rather limited as well.
Whats your overall thoughts on its design?
Let's just say it could be better.
If you could change Skunktankin any way what would you change?
The design, the stats.
Does he make for a good dark type?
Not really, at least not as good as Houndoom. I believe it acts as a supporter, so the comparison might not be fair though.

Adam Levine February 11th, 2016 5:20 AM

Have you ever used Skunktank in-game or competitively?

Yes, I have. It was kind if great, especially because it has Flamethrower in its arsenal, but it seems a little outclassed compared to other Poison- and Dark-types.

What are your overall thoughts on its design?

The most smug look a Pokémon would have. Sorry, Snivy, but Skuntank has a better face than you. I mean, this face is the meaning of dark, especially because it either looks like an emo or a gangster.

Lycanthropy February 12th, 2016 1:04 AM

POTW: Skuntank
I like it because of its unique typing, but that's about the only part. I used it for a bit on my team in Pokémon Diamond because I was like OMG IT LEARNS FLAMETHROWER THAT'S AWESOME. But well... its special attack stat is meh.
Speaking of its base stats, it's not really a tank as the Pokémon's name suggests, so that might be up for a change. With Toxic, Taunt, Foul Play and only one weakness it'd be perfect as staller!
Another note: I only just noticed it's actually Skuntank and not Skunktank. I've been spelling it wrong forever. (And it looks like I'm not the only one.)

By the way Dedenne, you said you were going to notify me. I didn't get any. :(

AkioMoto February 16th, 2016 8:35 AM

Hydreigon vs. Greninja

Hydreigon, The Brutal Pokémon. It responds to movement by attacking. This scary, three-headed Pokémon devours everything in its path! The heads on their arms do not have brains. They use all three heads to consume and destroy everything. This brutal Pokémon travels the skies on its six wings. Anything that moves seems like a foe to it, triggering its attack.
Greninja, The Ninja Pokémon. It creates throwing stars out of compressed water. When it spins them and throws them at high speed, these stars can split metal in two. It appears and vanishes with a ninja’s grace. It toys with its enemies using swift movements, while slicing them with throwing stars of sharpest water.

MANDATORY FEEDBACK QUESTIONS
Not really mandatory...

So guys as some may know I always like feedback from members of the club and I know I've been a bit busy but i wanna know everyone's thoughts. Feel free to go into as much or as little detail as possible but here's just a couple points I'd like to chat about:
Do you like the POTW's, Pokemon Showcases and Moves of the Week's? Can they be improved?
Is there any events you'd like to see the club hold as a whole such as in game challenges or dark type tournaments, etc.
Would you like to see a point system implemented in which you are rewarded for posts etc. What rewards would you like to see? (I can do shiny pokemon)
Thoughts on the overall presentation of the club? (css, opening post, member list, etc.)
And whatever else you guys would like to talk about I know there's always room for improvement and I wanna keep the Dark Type Club going strong till the end of time for a long long time.
Thanks for taking the time to give feedback!

Sure but I don't really know what quote notifications are

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'll answer the question in this on so I avoid double posting
Honestly I can't decide between them I love both and have personal attachments to both.
It could go ether way I'd say there evenly matched so it's up more to how they were raised.
These are just to tough of choices to call for the rest of the questions I think there just to evenly matched here

Dark Type Move of The Week

http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/pokemon/images/b/b8/Mantle_Krookodile_Crunch.png/revision/latest?cb=20150713042425
Crunch
The user crunches up the foe with sharp fangs. It may also lower the target's Defense stat.

Possible Questions:
Would you say you teach your dark types this move alot?
Overall opinion of the move?
Should anything be changed about the move? (added effects, power higher, other stats increased?)
Crunch or Foul Play? Which do you use more?
Other thoughts?

Ya crunch is a relatively simple move but its used alot in battles as a powerful physical dark type move. So what are your guy's thoughts about it? I personally like it and use it on alot of my teams although i find myself using knock off more and i also prefer special attacking dark types like Zoroark as opposed to physical. Also feedback questions are above a couple posts feedback is appreciated or feel free to ignore them doesnt matter~

To be honest like the move but it's a little bland Crunch is just a common move that is good on pretty much any Pokémon and does the job I personally like Payback, Punishment, and Night Slash so meh

Crunch or Foul Play? Which do you use more?

Other thoughts?

Well now, this seems interesting. I suppose I could Stride in.

Reason you love dark types: No world is without its heroes. What happens, then, when those heroes become the villains? We're the ones who keep them in check. Heroes wouldn't be heroes without an adversary, and if they're any less than their absolute best, they won't win.
3 partner Pokemon (dex numbers appreciated): Absol, Malamar, and Spiritomb (359, 687, 442)
Answer any current or past topic: Crunch is a good move, but I wish it was more likely to lower Defense than it already is. I'd teach it for the sake of power, but sometimes other moves are stronger, like Knock Off or Night Slash. I do use Crunch more than Foul Play, though, as the combination with Swagger's a bit of a pain.

Nah, not too many of my Pokes know Crunch.

Overall opinion of the move?

Frankly speaking, Crunch is one of my least favourite dark type moves. I mean sure, it's got a lot of base power and has that chance to drop the foe's defense, but compared to other dark type moves like Knock Off, Snatch or Sucker Punch, which are pretty unique and therefore interesting moves, it just seems a bit boring to me.

Should anything be changed about the move? (added effects, power higher, other stats increased?

I'd rather see a chance of flinching the opponent instead of the potential defense drop, it just matches a dark move.

Crunch or Foul Play? Which do you use more?

Neither of those are common moves on my Pokemon, but I think Foul Play takes the cake.

Other thoughts?

Pretty much what I stated above.

What are your overall thoughts on Houndour?

I find it sort of cute but intimidating at the same time. Definitely a cool Poke.

Have you ever used Houndour in-game?

Yes, yes I have. Get that Flash Fire on a swap and a Nasty Plot up and you're good to go.

Whats your overall thoughts on its design?

It's awesome. I especially loved the design on the old Pokemon cards, it looked way more vicious back then.

If you could change Houndour in any way what would you change?

I wouldn't change it, like at all. It's perfect the way it is.

Does he makes for a good dark type?

Sure does. That unique typing combination is awesome too.

Do you like his normal or shiny form better?

Normal form is absolutely top-notch. Although I have to admit his shiny isn't too bad either.

What are your overall thoughts on Houndour?

Overall it makes a very good hound.

What are your overall thoughts on its design?

Love it. It's like a greyhound covered in armor.

Does it make for a good dark type?

Yes. Thanks to its Fire typing it doesn't have to deal with Bugs and Fairies as hardly as it has to.

Do you like his normal or shiny form better?

Because green.

Reason I like dark types: I think that dark types have a lot more varied appearances then other types with nearly all dark types looking unique. I also like to use them in battles as their moves are a lot more fun to use then other types moves.
Favorite dark type: Umbreon as I like the eeveelutions in general but I like the look of umbreons cool appearance.
Would I like quote notifications: no thanks
