Partner Pokémon: Joltik Reason for joining: I loved Unova for many reasons. Mainly for the storyline, new features such as the PWT and of course, the pokemon themselves. I know they always get a bit of backlash and trashtalk for reasons such as 'oh but they're so uncreative!' but I find the same argument can be applied to almost any generation. Overall, they don't deserve the hate they get and they're a really nice bunch. :) What is your favourite Unova pokemon and why? It's a tossup between a load of options. I loved the cuter pokemon such as Joltik, Shelmet and Mincinnio while also appreciating the cooler side of things with Braviary and the different legendaries of the game. And then there's just Stunfisk who deserves its own category. No words can explain how amazingly pancaked it is. <3 But to answer the question, I'd say Joltik is my favourite. I wrote a huge wall of text in some other club about it once but I'll try and summarise it here. So take a look at its design first. Now what do you think of it? If you said 'top kek its not cute' then it's your opinion and you're entitled to it. I however find its tiny size and bright colours a huge factor of why I like it so much. Coupled with a unique typing, some wires to chew on and various Joltik fanart, it really is hard not to like it. :D |
I guess it wouldn't hurt to join, given I am a 5th Gen fan myself!
Username: Hikamaru Partner Pokémon: Oshawott Reason for joining: The 5th Gen is awesome, and is severely underappreciated. This generation did a lot to deviate from the usual Pokemon story format, along with introducing a lot of revolutionary features. What is your favorite Pokémon from Unova? As if one didn't know already, it's Oshawott and its evolution line. Always been my go-to starter in every Unova game I play and it's also extremely cute while being a badass at the same time. Always will be my fave Pokemon for all eternity. |

Partner Pokémon: Cobalion Reason for joining: Because Pokemon Black was the first game I ever completed and it's an epic generation! ;D Answer the current topic!: What is your favorite Pokémon from Unova? Well, it's a really hard choice, but I love Cobalion! =D Of course, Mienfoo, Dewott and Woobat are freaken awesome buuuuuuuut you can't beat this dude. |

Partner Pokémon: Emolga Reason for joining: I really like gen 5 idk why some people hate on it some of my favorite pokemon are in this gen plus i like the storyline especially on bw/2 Answer Topic: So my favorite is Emolga. Firstly iris used it in the anime plus its cute plus i love electric types plus its actually pretty powerful PLUS its got a unique typing! I just want it to be on my shoulder or on my head when i walk around haha! |
Thanks for joining, everyone! I'll update the OP in a bit.
As for me, I think you all know what my favorite Unova Pokémon is, but in case you don't, it's Scolipede, that insanely heavy megapede that has a big horn and lots of tiny feet, and is surprisingly much faster than its appearance would leave you to expect. It certainly helps that it can learn so many cool moves like Megahorn, Rock Slide, Earthquake, and as of B2W2, Aqua Tail and Superpower. It's just such a cool Pokémon for what it is. |
Hydreigon is definitely among my favorites from this generation too, I may even go so far as to call it second only behind Scolipede. It has one of my favorite designs in the series, and battling Ghetsis' in BW makes its character even more formidable and look a lot cooler. That thing is a MONSTER.
And I never said you only had to choose one :P But those are all ones I like quite a bit too. |

HOW DID IT TAKE ME THIS LONG TO FIND THIS?
But anyways. Username: User 101 Partner Pokémon: Emboar (who else?) Reason for joining: Pokemon Black was my first game, which led me to really enjoy the game, Unova, and Gen V in general. What is your favorite Pokémon from Unova? Emboar of course! Being my first starter, Emboar seemed like a superhero, being able to knock out everything in Pokemon Black - except Reshiram. I've also done a couple solo challenges with Emboar, which were ridiculously easy. |

Partner Pokémon: Whimsicott Reason for joining: I love the 5th generation for introducing some of the most well designed Pokemon in the series. I can't get over how amazing Volcarona, Chandelure, Scolipede, Lilligant, Reuniclus, Eelektross, Galvantula, Escavalier, Mienshao, Bisharp, and Hydreigon are. I'm fond of all three mascot/box legendaries, too. Answer the current topic: What is your favorite Pokémon from Unova? Of course, Whimsicott is still my favorite. That little floaty cotton ram is just too adorable. |

Partner Pokémon: Sawk Reason for joining: The Unova region is my favourite region, games-wise, story-wise and Pokémon-wise. This gen in my opinion redefined Pokémon. Answer the current topic!: What is your favorite Pokémon from Unova? I've mentioned this many times in other threads, but Sawk is my favourite Pokémon from Unova. It's not just my favourite Unova Pokémon, but my favourite Pokémon of all time. Since I don't want to repeat myself, I'll just quote this post I made... Quote:
Honourable mentions go to Braviary, Terrakion and Sawsbuck. |
Oh please sign me up. Generation 5 is my top; and Black and White are my favorite colors.
Username: Polar Spectrum Partner Pokémon: Stunfisk Reason for joining: Previously stated; 5th gen is my favorite. I didn't play any games after Sapphire in 2000 something, all the way through high school up until I was starting college, when I had a few friends getting back into it with Black and White. I bought a DSi on a whim, got white version - and fell in love all over again harder than before. Black and white are also my favorite colors. And I love the Tao trio. And how black and white play; and the region - and all the pokemon they introduced in fifth gen. Answer the current topic!: What is your favorite pokemon from Unova? Prrrrobably Reshiram? Or stunfisk But this is a REALLY tough call. Reshiram is my favorite color; white - symbolically representing Truth; which I DIG. And it's Dragon / Fire - which is a unique typing I LOVE. And it's got a cool signature move, special focus rather than physical which I also love, and just - everything going for it. But Stunfisk is a Stunfisk, and that's pretty hard for me to get over. In case you all didn't know, on ... Thursday? Or was it Sunday - maybe Friday - nights, Stunfisk actually takes over a small portion of Unova. I'm not making it up, it's a real weekly event. http://i.ytimg.com/vi/m1iC0hKC3Uw/hqdefault.jpg it's their neighborhood. |

Pendraflame mind if i make a new topic? |
Kinda fell behind on this, but i'll update the OP in a minute. And yeah I remember the Stunfisk swarms in the summer that B2W2 would throw at Striaton City, those were amusing.
And Dedenne go ahead, if people want to make a new topic then i'm all up for it. I was about to post one, but let's see if you can make one more clever :P |
Ummmmm I promise nothing lol I was pretty sure you would but it gave me more time to think :p
What City/Town was your absolute favorite in Unova? Mine? Well ill answer that when I see some answers rolling :p |
What City/Town was your absolute favorite in Unova?
Humilau City for me. I always love beautiful places near water or on water, and this city fits all that plus its design gives off vibes of Pacifidlog Town in Hoenn. I'm also a fan of the resident Gym Leader, Marlon plus I love the design of his Gym as well. If I were to ever take a holiday anywhere in the Pokemon world this would be where I'd want to spend it in a heartbeat. |
What City/Town was your absolute favorite in Unova?
Nimbasa City! It has nice music, and there's so much to do! Musicals, Ferris Wheel, Battle Subway, Big Court, oh my! The only thing I don't like about Nimbasa is Elesa because Volt Switch. |
What City/Town was your absolute favorite in Unova?
That is actually basically the question I was going to ask (I was going to say favorite location altogether, but this works too). Anyway, I think mine would be Driftveil City. It has some nifty little buildings present, and there's the market which has some nice items present. Not to mention it hosts Clay, my favorite Gym Leader from the region (i'll talk more about him when I inevitably ask about favorite Gym Leaders). And in Black 2 and White 2, the buildings were redesigned with emeralds, making them look even nicer. It's also where the old Team Plasma makes their stay, and you can get N's Zorua from Rood. |

I guess it was a good topic lol ok so mine where -Castelia City i mean its got sewers underground a little clearing in the middle docks going everywhere skyscrapers that have way too many floors it was the first major gigantic city they had in pokemon! -Nimbasa it had roller coasters a romantic Ferris wheel <3 a great gym plus the runway loved me lol. Plus the pokemon musical and the battle subway which was pretty fun i must say :3 -Humiau City because i love pacifilog town and this one was a little cooler plus i loved the gym it was literrally a city on docks! Plus that underground tube that went into it you had to love! I think my all time fav would be Nimbasa because it had so many features and i <3 that runway haha |
What City/Town was your absolute favorite in Unova?
Opelucid City, both versions. Both have great music, interesting buildings and have this vibe of how far you've come on your journey. I'm also a fan of Mistralton City. Decent music and an interesting take on airports. |
That park's my new favourite place. dem stunfisk <3
What was your absolute favourite city/town in Unova? Castelia! Filled with modern city life and endless possibilities for exploration, it feels like the starting point for real adventure. The streets are full of people to interact and talk with, there are loads of buildings to check out and overall, it gives off the impression of any capital city in our world today. Throw in the ability to navigate the sewers and battle trainers on the streets and you've got yourself a pretty good city. :] |
Seems we have a lot of good answers here! Castelia City was another place I thought was nice for its buildings and NYC-esque design. And to add to that, there are quite a few important items the game gives you there, and it's where the Game Freak executives reside.
Opelucid was another one that was a cool version exclusive thing they did, while one made it futuristic the other was rural and past oriented. It was something I think they made well, and they both get separate themes. Nimbasa City is up there for me too, plenty to do there including the stadiums and the ferris wheel, and the Gym is one of the more fun ones. |
YES THIS CLUB IS BACK
Username: Zekrom Partner Pokémon: Zekrom, duh Reason for joining: Gen V is still the best gen Answer the current topic!: What's the current topic, favorite city? Iiiiiiiiiif I had to pick, it'd probably be Driftveil City because it houses the move tutors and the PWT, which I very much liked. Also dat music. Nimbasa City is pretty good too. |

Partner Pokémon: Scrafty Reason for joining: Cause Gen 5 is <333333 Seriously though, lots of postgame, love how you are forced into using only the new Pokemon: also they are lovely designs too and the animated sprites are still good. Answer the current topic!: Favourite City: I don't really have on since I think they are all unique in a way but if I had to choose it would be Striaton City. I really don't know why but I just like the aesthetics about it? Also, it's the place where it's close to the daycare; yay breeding! |
Yay! More members! Including one I recognize from Marriland, haha.
That aside, I posted in the Generation V forum about an article from Bulbanews that they just posted in their "Can we catch 'em all?" series on Generation V, which might be worth checking out. |
The article was a nice read from what I skimmed through. Originally, I thought it was going to be talking about all the new pokemon and how long it would take to complete the dex - but apparently not! Either way, I agree completely. Gen V was great for how fresh and new it was compared to the other mainseries games. New fans could dig into it while old fans would still enjoy the older aspects of pokemon incorporated into Gen V. The basic idea of beating the gym leaders and champion remained the same but there were a few tweaks here and there. Such as Team Plasma believing in the liberty of pokemon as opposed to the morals of capturing them (Team Galactic / Rocket). People were also forced to use new pokemon instead of knowing who was strong in previous games. Overall, I think that's what makes Gen V one of my favourites - it's new, it's different and it works.
Also I have to ask - how did you guys feel about having to exclusively use Gen V pokemon during the main storyline? Did you not like it or were you happy to use a full team of new pokemon? |
Quote:
It's not something I want them to do again anytime soon though, cuz it won't be so great if that becomes the norm. It'll lose it's freshness. I kinda wish though that they took the opportunity to do something about the annoying thing where caves are inhabited only by Geodudes and Zubats. They just replaced them with Roggenrola and Woobat..... |

This topic works for me, i'll go with it. Anyway, when I first played BW in 2011, I wasn't really sure what to make of it. But a while later, it soured on me thanks to the B2W2 haters making it out to be the best thing ever, as I didn't really get what was so amazing about it. After I came back to BW eventually, it grew on me and i've fully adapted to it, because it makes you come to like them more in time than you would as opposed to using stuff you've used in past games. As a whole I still liked B2W2's New Unova Pokédex more, but this came to be something that I could considerably appreciate. |
I've read the article but I'll post my thoughts about it later.
How did you guys feel about having to exclusively use Gen V pokemon during the main storyline? Did you not like it or were you happy to use a full team of new pokemon? I loved it though at first I have moments where I felt like I wasn't playing a Pokemon game. Echoing, it did give me a chance to experiment with the new mons and thanks to that I've changed my favourite Pokemon as well as enjoyed the rest of the Unovians. I was neutral when they brought back the older Pokemon in BW2 since Unova has so many options to use but at the same time it helps with the dex. |
Seems we have people that liked it, which is good, while others preferred B2W2's variety more. As I said, I like both but there are some that may not agree. Anyway, I think it's time for a new topic!
Which Unova Pokémon would you want to give a Mega Evolution to? Probably not an original one, but a topic to get this back up nonetheless. |
Which Unova Pokémon would you want to give a Mega Evolution to?
I'll just make a short-ish list. Number one would be the 3 final starter forms, because Gen V's starters are probably the worst in terms of competitive play. Also, I'd really like to see what GameFreak could add to them, especially Emboar. Number two would be Druddigon. You could really do a lot with Druddigon, as it's very forgotten about, like Medicham and Banette were before they got Megas. Number three would be Chandelure. Lots of Pokemon that have a really high Attack stat got Megs, such as Heracross, Salamence, and Pinsir. I think it would be nice to see more specially-based Megas, and Chandelure is the perfect fit, having base 145 special attack. |
How did you guys feel about having to exclusively use Gen V Pokemon during the main storyline? Did you not like it or were you happy to use a full team of new Pokemon?
I think it was a pretty neat concept to say the least, because they were going for this "new beginning" approach and that's why they made Unova so isolated from other regions and having a Pokedex made up of only the native Pokemon that couldn't be found anywhere else. But as Pendraflare himself said, it helps you grow to love the resident Pokemon of the region. Which Unova Pokémon would you want to give a Mega Evolution to? I'm with User 101 here, the starters definitely need Megas given how bad these three all suck in terms of competitive play so a well-needed boost in the form of a Mega can really help patch up their mediocrity. The reason I know why they don't excel compared to other starters is because their stats are in the wrong places and a Mega can help boost the stat they really need, like maybe patch up Emboar's bad defenses or Serperior's lackluster offenses, and also make Samurott a bit faster. |
Which Unova Pokémon would you want to give a Mega Evolution to?
I'm 90% sure the Unova starters will get megas so I won't say them. And I really want M. Scrafty because it got nerfed badly in Gen 6; expansive movepool and great abilities but only watered down by its stats. Apart from that, Archeops and Carracosta could both use one, if Aero got a Mega then it would be cool if these fossils got 'em too. They are both underwhelming in competitive play (especially Archeops' ability) and both would love a boost. Cofagrigus is another one I enjoyed using in Gen 5 UU and it's unique with the ability. Higher stats would be lovely. |
How did you guys feel about having to exclusively use Gen V pokemon during the main storyline? Did you not like it or were you happy to use a full team of new pokemon?
Well it actually didn't seem that different cave-wise as mentioned previously. It was still the same idea - just with other pokemon. Woobat and Roggenrola seemed to replace the Zubats and Geodudes that had haunted the places previously. And of course the traditional starter types, HM slave and first route pokemon idea remained the same. But otherwise, the pokemon all seemed different to any ones that had been invented previously. I really liked the surprise of it all though. Everyone was encouraged to try the new pokemon and their fun and weird designs. There were more inanimate objects, more colours and a lot of new ideas when it came to the concepts used. This was one of the things that I enjoyed most about Gen V, how different it was compared to any other mainseries game. So yes, I enjoyed it definitely! I wouldn't mind the same idea being used in future gens either. Which Unova Pokémon would you want to give a Mega Evolution to? The starters, for one. If you were to give megas to anything else, you'd be neglecting the most important pokemon of the game apart from legendaries. I'm really with the Archeops suggestion too. It'd stop people calling it a 'less better aerodactyl' as it's quite a great pokemon. A mega would help it go even or better with its generation counterpart. And if they were to create mega legendaries, what about giving the four swords megas? I feel like that could work though it might be too many evolutions to design. |

Partner Pokémon: Volcarona. Reason for joining: Although I'm not much of a big generation five fan, generally, I still admire all the new Pokémon and mechanics it had introduced to us, and would love to join in on the conversation! What City/Town was your absolute favorite in Unova? There is a couple! One of them would likely have to be Castelia City (I hope I've spelled it correctly). It's gargantuan--much, much bigger than any other cities they have had in the past. Alongside, it also has a lot of places here and there for us to explore, even though most are merely buildings. As far as its theme goes, I loved it; if you ask me, it was rather bright and vibrant. |
Which Unova Pokémon would you want to give a Mega Evolution to? Mienshao, by a long shot. Since I've explained about why it should get a Mega Evolution, I'm just gonna be lazy and quote a post from another thread.

Which Unova Pokémon would you want to give a Mega Evolution to?
I'd like Mega Evolutions for Volcarona, Hydreigon, and Zekrom. Volcarona and Hydreigon are solid, cool Pokemon that are often ignored in favor of their brethren (Heatran, Mega Zard, Talonflame; Garchomp, [email protected], Salamence, etc) and could use a boost. Hydreigon in particular could be a cool Dragon/Steel type since its design was originally to be a cyborg dragon, and it'd be nice to finally have another Dragon/Steel type. Mega Zekrom because Zekrom |
Seems we got some nice answers here, if I say. I'll give one that hasn't been mentioned yet: Eelektross. Although Eelektross having Levitate is one thing that makes it unique, its stats are decent all-around but never really struck me as being overly cool. Since it has pretty good Attack and Special Attack with a handful of moves to use it with, they could likely do something like they did with Mega Camerupt and lower its Speed for more attacking capabilities and Sheer Force, which is probably what I would do.
Aside from that, I too would like to see Mega Druddigon, Haxorus and Hydreigon, they're all powerful on their own but could certainly use some buffs what with the Fairy-type and other things that have come about in the newer generations. And Mega Scolipede, because you know me. |
Which Unova Pokémon would you want to give a Mega Evolution to?
There are many Unovian Pokémon out there I would consider giving mega-evolution to, haha. First on my list is Volcarona. This one is already quite good on its own, as it could wreak some major havoc after it's done setting up with Quiver Dance and whatnot, but even so, it also has some major disadvantage (being four-times weak against moves such as Stealth Rock), causing it to be sort of tough to utilize. Had it gained a mega-form with possibly some defensive boosts, I believe that could change. Along with above, another Pokémon would be Jellicent. It was very popular back when generation five of games were first introduced, but sadly, its popularity seemed to have dwindled a ton over the years. With access to a mega-evolution form, hopefully, this will change, as we'd find ourselves utilizing it more due to its improved stats, better range of moves, new ability, etc. |
@Odyssey- Could you possibly link that article on popular Unova Pokemon? It sounds interesting~
@M. Eelektross- Y'know, I'd love to see it! Eelektross is one of my favourite Unovian Pokemon (the top 10 favourite Unova keeps changing expect for my top 2 :P) and it's a Pokemon who also can use a boost. And I'd love to see Mega Jellicent! But yeah, that Knock Off boost. Druddigon could use one too, I kind of wish it'd be a regular evolution of Dragon/Rock though. M. Hydreigon and Mienshao though. <3 |

>Sees the article.
>Scrafty isn't there. >Is now sad. I'm quite surprised Stunfisk, Pansage, Tympole and Vanilluxe on there. Also, they misspelled Zorua in the article. :P But, thanks for linking~ :) @Zekrom- Don't worry, I prefer Zekrom over Reshiram. |
I'm a Zekrom > Reshiram person. Let's start a club shall we?
It's pretty interesting seeing how Japanese fans feel about Unova. If you were to ask fans from the UK or America for example, they'd probably put Vanilluxe on the '30 most hated' list alongside whatever else they find uncreative or dumb. Also how is Tympole more popular than Samurott? I thought Samurott was insanely popular since it was a starter and all but apparently not. They completely excluded the Tepig line as well, haha. I'm all for some of the choices though. Lillipup, Scolipede, Whimsicott, Hydreigon, Audino and Zekrom just to name a few. Stunfisk's a cutie too. <3 |
Quote:
This may be a little farfetched, but I have a theory. I believe the reason why Stunfisk, Pansage, Tympole and Vanilluxe are on there is because of a joke on Pixiv. I frequently go on that website and it's not hard to find art without these four, especially Tympole. Japan has a strange taste in humour, I tell ya. :P |
I personally would have put Zekrom above Reshiram, primarily because, in my opinion, its design tends to be more... global, so to speak; like latter, former doesn't look too feminine. Reshiram does sort of seem like that mainly due to its body color, which is white, orange, and a mixture of red and pink. Plus, it's got some fur surrounded, which are rather on the elegant side.
As for Scrafty not being on their list, I'm kind of surprised about this as well, considering how popular it seemed to have been when generation five of games were first introduced and whatnot, as I had stated in one of my earlier posts. I've seen it being used on a lot of teams while battling online. It's popularity have indeed dwindled over the years, however, which is a little disappointing to see, |
How come no one likes Reshiram? It's so god-like and awesome! It's the only reason I chose Pokemon Black. And isn't it the only Dragon/Fire Pokemon out there? (Except Mega Charizard X) It's a rare, odd typing but it sorta works. Zekrom's design isn't as radiant or awe-inducing. But it had got a sort of wicked quality. I still like it but it's still Reshiram ftw! :P
I started a new file on Pokemon Black 2. Is it possible to get a Teddiursa? And is it worth using a Watchog? Thanks! |
Sorry I haven't been active enough in here ;-;
But I have to defend Reshiram's honor. Despite back in gen 5 seeing about 90% demands for Zekrom on the GTS, and significantly less for Reshiram, the article says Reshiram ranks higher in Japan's favorites? That's surprising. However I have to say personally I find Reshiram a fair bit cooler. Both typings are unique, but Reshiram's design just looks majestic. It has flowing feather-like wings, and a body that could be made of clouds - and it's literally the Blue Eyes White Dragon of pokemon. (Seriously, anyone else catch that? Zekrom is red eyes black dragon too.) Zekrom looks very intimidating, is is possibly more competitively viable; but Reshiram just looks cooler. Be it as it may, that Zekrom looks b.a. |
Reshy ftw! >BD
Anyway, on my Pokemon Black 2 file, I keep finding myself piling up Normal types. I realize that Super Fang and Hypnotize are heaps useful, but there is something off-putting about Watchog. Maybe because anyone who uses it never comes back? :O *puts on detective hat* I'm tempted to use a Stoutland, but I've already got one on my Omega file so I'm totally conflicted. I'd LOVE to use Cobalion but you have to wait until you're like, level fifty to get it. Maybe I should use a Krookodile, like the good old days! :D |
Seems we sparked a rather interesting discussion while I was gone, huh?
Anyway, nice seeing Scolipede on that list - even at #14 i'm glad seeing my bro on it. And Stunfisk is on the silly side, but i've used it before in the post-game with B2W2 and once in XY, it's definitely usable since its Defenses are good all-around. I myself have used Watchog in both White 2 and White before, the latter of where it lasted me a good while up to the Elite Four. It was good stuff while I had it, it went all-out diabolic mode on Grimsley's Krookodile with Flash before succumbing to his Bisharp. =( |
Stunfisk is my favorite dopey pokemon of any generation. ('nother reason I love gen 5) Plus it has a really underrated unique type combination, ground and electric are two REALLY capable offensive typings that go fairly well together. The typical flying immunity to ground can't be abused since electric knocks birds around a fair bit. The only thing it can't handle is ground/flying. And hidden power ice plays well for that.
Speaking of stunfisk though - that was one of the first things I retrained in sixth gen, to bother Talonflame brave bird spammers. Bulk and flying resistance, with Static as an ability can really ruin that offense. |
Can we all just take a moment to appreciate the glory that is Stunfisk?
Spoiler:
I love Stunfisk! As mentioned before, I really think people underestimate his strength as a pokemon. He's fully capable of dealing and soaking up damage on his own while also taking the title of 'most derp' easily. But it's one of my favourite parts about him - his design! Anyone else? And I've never used a Watchog, sorry! I was always one to use it as a HM slave though it doesn't seem half bad. One of my friends used it to great effect during a link battle we had, so go for it. But yeah, I think its design was what really made me say "lol no" when I first played through B/W. The rigid body posture and eyes, ugh. :( Come to think of it though, I haven't actually used any normal types in B/W. Maybe I'll try using a few in my next runthrough? |
THIS CALLS FOR STUNFISK RAP
Stunfisk standin in a corner dj aerodactyl mixin the beats mr mime showing off to a chatot who is too busy with her tweets stunfisk goes onto the dancefloor everyone is gaspin he does a whirl a twist and a twirl KAABAAAM wubwubwub KAAABAAAAM I suck at rap. And I could get a Blitzle, too! Maaaaybe an Emolga, since Double Team and Volt Switch appear to be quite... useful. >:) I hate planning teams. ): I'll totally get a Vullaby! Never used a Mandibuzz but it's Move set is good and it's stats aren't terrible. If I can get a Teddiursa I'll get a Ursaring! :p DAMN I CAN'T GET A TEDDY >:O Or a Miltank! >:I Does anyone know that if I use a DS2 on my DSi that I can connect to another DSi and schedule a trade? Thanks! |
I actually like Reshiram! I think it has a lovely design and works well with the Yin Yang concept. Never used Watchog but I've used Stoutland and I loved it. I even found a shiny Herdier on my White file! I do like Stunfisk too but my love for Scrafty made me feel crushed that the former was there and it was not. But I guess some people like to be silly. :P
@Nakara- Nice rap! And I believe you can trade between those DS's. @Aslan- Do a mono Normal type solo! :D I believe there should be enough Normal types: Watchog, Stoutland, Unfezant, Sawsbuck, Braviary, Audino and Bouffalant. You could use Meloetta if you haven't transferred it but mythical Pokemon tend to make the game easier. :P |
Maybe I will, haha. I'll look around for either my White or Black 2 and see how it goes.
Speaking of Braviary, does anyone else think it evolves too late in the game? At the very least, they could of thrown in a midway evolution or reduced the level to 40 as opposed to 54. Even pseudo legendaries don't have to wait that long for evolution. :( Regardless it's a great pokemon and one I'll look into using, monotype or not. I don't mind Reshiram either. As a person who prefers truth > ideals, it's the pokemon I relate to more. And the pure white design isn't half bad, it's quite angelic actually. (if that's the right word?) |
Braviary was cool, I remember using it in the post-game of my first time through White. It was fun, even if Sheer Force was rather wasted on it due to not having many moves to use it with. But at the same time, White 2 made it more interesting by allowing you to catch one at only Level 25 with its Hidden Ability on Mondays, which was a fun thing. I never used it in any of my plays through it, but that was really neat that they did. Amerikuh!!
Although this does make me want to do a PotW just to promote a bit more discussion in here. |
Braviary is one of my favourite Pokémon. I used one in White, and as much as I liked using it, I was really disappointed with how late you can catch it. I never got White 2, so I can't say anything about the one with its Hidden Ability.
But what I love most about it is what it's based on. I love birds, especially birds of prey. I also love how it has the personality of a soldier, as seen from both its design and its Pokédex entries. To be honest, it took me until last year to realise how much I really like Braviary, as I was rather indifferent to it at first. It's still a cool Pokémon regardless. Plus it has a pretty Shiny forme. Hey Pendraflame, I got a suggestion for a new topic. Perhaps we should talk about out favourite Gym Leader/Elite Four character of Unova. What do you think? :3 |
Quote:
Anyways, I do love Braviary for the same reasons as you said. It's a strong attacker and learns some powerful moves, and it's also cool that you can catch one with Defiant every Monday in White 2. It's actually really strong for most of the game, as Marriland's White 2 playthrough series proved. It's annoying that you normally get it so late, but it's definitely fitting given how strong it is, and it has a cool-looking shiny color as well. |
A Defiant Braviary wrecked me in the Battle Maison once. Didn't know that it had Defiant, switched in my Gyarados with Intimidate, proceeded to get wrecked....
|
And Odyssey, that sounds like a good idea. Since that hasn't been discussed yet, let's get on with one of them.
Who is your favorite Gym Leader from Unova? Enjoy! And I think after this i'll start Unova PotW's. |
Braviary. <3 I've never used it but I love its design. His counterpart, Mandibuzz, is amazing too. Anywho, a PotW would be awesome and looking forward to it. A word of warning: expect major Scrafty fangirling from me if it gets picked. ;D
Who is your favorite Gym Leader from Unova? I think it's got to be Roxie. Her gym is unique; in order to challenge her the music must be toned down and by doing that the gym's music feels different and her attitude is so spunky and loud. I love her design too. I also like Clay's cowboyish (also his gym theme in the sequels is so catchy) and I can relate to Burgh cause artist. :D |
Who is your favorite Gym Leader from Unova?
It'll have to be Roxie. Not only she looks rather cute, but I love the format of the Gym. Not to mention that she does make a pretty nice Poison type user, given her personality. Also, when the PoTW happens, you'll probably be seeing me fangirl over both Sawk and Mienshao... that is, when they get their turn in PoTW. :P |
Who is your favorite Gym Leader from Unova?
If I had to pick it'd be Cheren. It was nice to see him grow over the course of Black/White and later become a Gym Leader, and it was good to see him again (several times) in Black2/White2. They could've just included him all of like once or twice in the story, but they didn't, which is good. Also Brycen because Brycen-Man |

Yay! Another member.
Anyway, my favorite Unova Gym Leader would be Clay. His Gym has one of my favorite designs, and the music in B2W2 is pretty rad at that. And he's a businessman who mined out the entire city, taking it from buildings to emerald-hued buildings, which I thought was a really nice change. And as far as battling him goes, that Excadrill can prove to be a good challenge if you're not properly prepared for it (especially in BW where it has Hone Claws). also I need to update the OP, gosh darn it |
Who is your favorite Gym Leader from Unova?
I do love a lot of these Gym Leaders, but my all-time fave has to be Marlon. First, he specializes in my fave type, and he uses one of my fave Pokemon of that type (Jellicent). I also love his surfer dude-like accent and the design of his Gym, and it also doesn't help that I love Humilau City's design already. Also, I do love his rad hair hahahaha. Close second fave would be Elesa, along with Roxie, Cheren, Skyla, the Striaton Trio (Cilan, Cress and Chili) and Iris. |
Who is your favorite Gym Leader from Unova?
Elesa because she's fabulous Eh, probably Drayden. His gym is really cool, he's really cool, and Haxorus is really cool. |
Who is your favorite Gym Leader from Unova?
THANK U FINALLY!!!! Ok so firstly its Elesa cause im like in love with her shes mine touch her i kill u all! Anyways she is a great electric type gym leader! Shes is the first and i think only Female electric type gym leader! She is a model and is beautiful and is one of the few gym leaders that actually change their look but she actually changed her hair color and has those fabulous sunglasses on! Plus shes extremely pretty and beautiful and powerful and she has a ze strike as her partner! And she has an Emolga on her team plus she was actually a big challenge for me to beat unlike the others colt switch was annoying and her zebstrika is so powerful! And just look at her and tell me u can hate her :3 |

Quote:
Speaking of Golurk, I think it's cool how it can fly despite its body and lack of wings. In a way, he's like the Astro Boy of Pokemon, soaring on his rocket powered feet. How he flies, I still have no idea. But the fact that it's a huge flying robot's pretty amazing, wouldn't you agree? Hydreigon's awesome too! You've got good taste. I haven't used one myself but it seems like one of the best party members to have around for its vicious design and typing. Three headed beasts, heck yeah. That being said, welcome! Great to have you here. :] Who is your favorite Gym Leader from Unova? I'll go with the first gym leaders - Cilan, Cress and Chili. Gym leaders themselves don't have too much interaction but I remember instantly liking the three from when I first played B/W. Even though they're far from the most challenging, they all complement each other well, are great characters and have huge impact outside of the games. Cilan for instance, plays as one of the main characters in the later episodes of the anime. I don't remember much of Elesa but she seems pretty vibrant and eccentric! I'm not really interested in fashion models but her ability to juggle between parading and battling's impressive. She seems nice enough as well. |
First time I saw Golurk fly in the Victini movie I was like "WTF THAT THING CAN FLY?!" then learned that it can actually use the HM move Fly.
|
Who is your favorite gym leader from Unova?
I'd have to go with Roxie. Poison is a favorite type of mine, and I really like the theme of the gym. |
Who is your favorite gym leader of Unova? I'll have to go with Skyla. Though I believe Elesa has a cooler gym, Skyla has a pretty cool hideout. The cannons thingy was pretty cool imo, specially the last one that launched you to the beginning after you defeated her. The Pokémon she used fit her characteristic in the anime too, and I just really like her design. Speaking of the anime, the battle between her and Ash was pretty awesome. |
Who is your favorite gym leader from Unova?
Skyla! =D Not only is she hot, powerful and capable, she shoots people out of cannons on a daily basis. >:p My dream job! Roxie is a close second 'cause she's a rock star and specializes in Poison types! :P |
So we have some nice answers here, I really liked pretty much all the Gym Leaders from Unova, I know that Roxie was one who was a nice change-up since she was the first Poison-type specialist we had since Koga in Generation I and its remakes (and Janine from Johto, if you count that).

Anyway, i'll try to get in the first PotW for this before long, so yeah! Hope you all enjoy. |
Who is your favorite Gym Leader from Unova?
I would say Elesa, as she tends to stand out to me a lot when it comes to Unovian Gym Leaders. Battling her for the first time in Pokémon Black version was sort of difficult, I'd say; if I'm not mistaken, she had a Zebstrika on her team, which was fast and knew how to use Confuse Ray. It would always find a way to out-speed my team members, then proceed to confuse them. Unfortunately, these confusion effects seemed to have affected my Pokémon more often than not, and that was slightly frustrating. In terms of anime, I don't believe I have seen much of her. However, majority of this might be my problem, as I wasn't much of a big follower of their show when Black & White was still airing; sadly, I found this season to be a bit stale, which had kept me away from actually watching. If it weren't for that, it likely wouldn't have been an issue. |
God I forgot about this. We should become more active here.
|
Ah, don't mind that, I too have struggled to keep up with my own club too.
But no more of that, because I think we're going to get to our first Pokémon of the Week! http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2012/219/9/4/gigalith_by_leafingo-d5a4th6.png Gigalith, the Compressed Pokémon. Compressing the energy from its internal core lets it fire off an attack capable of blowing away a mountain. The solar energy absorbed by its body's orange crystals is magnified internally and fired from its mouth. That's something else, i'd say. Anyway, looking at Gigalith, its Rock-typing is usually a questionable type to have on its own, in that it has several common weaknesses but also a couple resistances to go alongside them. With its stats, it comes with Attack and Defense equal to that of Metagross, and a tiny bit more HP, but sadly its Special Attack falters and its Speed is even slower than Snorlax. Its Special Defense is a bit below average, but that got a small boost in Generation VI. At a whopping 573.2 lbs, this thing is heavy alright! Finally, it has the Sturdy ability, which blocks OHKO moves and ensures it will always survive a hit with 1 HP if it is at full health. Here are my questions for you on this one: Have you ever used Gigalith before, competitively or in-game? If so, when? Do you like Gigalith's design? Do you like its Rock-typing? If not, would you give it another type alongside it? If you were to give it a Mega Evolution, how would you go about it? What's your overall opinion on Gigalith? Anything else you want to mention about it? And with that, enjoy! |
Have you ever used Gigalith before, competitively or in-game? If so, when?
Never used one before. Defensive Rock types just don't do the job done for me. Do you like Gigalith's design? I do. What I most like about its design is what it's based off of, which is crystals. Plus it has a pretty Shiny. Do you like its Rock-typing? If not, would you give it another type alongside it? I would keep it as it is. At first glance it looks like it should have an extra typing, but pure Rock type fits this Pokémon the most. If you were to give it a Mega Evolution, how would you go about it? I could see Gigalith's Mega Evolution being like Mega Steelix - Super Defensive and better Attack power, but slower than its regular forme. What's your overall opinion on Gigalith? While not my favourite Unova Pokémon, I do feel as if there's still quite a bit to like about it. I'm not so keen on using one at all, but I still appreciate its design. Anything else you want to mention about it? It's Sturdy ability is annoying. Same applies for Roggenrola and Boldore. :P |
I've never used Gigalith before, but have sorta wanted to. A mono-Rock typing isn't good defensively, but at least its not Rock/Ground or Rock/Steel. At least Rock is fairly good offensively. Too bad it doesn't have the Sp.Attack to make use of Solar Beam.
Since it's the "Compression Pokemon", I think that a cool way to go about designing a Mega Evolution for it would to make its texture/coloration/patterning resemble that of a high grade metamorphic rock, like ecolgite or something. |
Have you ever used Gigalith before, competitively or in-game? If so, when?
Nope really never felt like i wanted to for some reason i just dont like rock types as much haha. Do you like Gigalith's design? Ya its shiny form is better hahah but i think its a good design and makes sense for it to be a poke haha. Do you like its Rock-typing? If not, would you give it another type alongside it? I do i wouldnt change it cause we already have too many ground types. If you were to give it a Mega Evolution, how would you go about it? More power and defense decrease speed even more make him more bulky maybe even a rock cannon! What's your overall opinion on Gigalith? Good poke works good in game and competitively just not my type of poke to use but aside from that he appeals to me more than the traditional geodude line. Anything else you want to mention about it? Ya have u seen his shiny form? Its awesome! Haha looks like the stones in chargestone cave in its body haha plus he really looks even more awesome in the anime! |
For my 4,000th post, allow me to answer my own questions:
Have you ever used Gigalith before, competitively or in-game? If so, when? Yes, it was one of my original six team members when I did my Wedlocke Challenge on White back in March 2014. It made it to the end of the game, but unfortunately died against Ghetsis. Even at that, there were still plenty of opponents it helped against, like Elesa's Emolgas and N's Reshiram. Do you like Gigalith's design? Most definitely. As people have said, it looks like a bunch of crystals combined together, and that's not the same thing like Golem and Steelix are. Do you like its Rock-typing? If not, would you give it another type alongside it? As I said, pure Rock-type is a bit questionable, since it does have several weaknesses, but what other types would go well with it...? Other than Rock and Steel, which have been done before, I can't really think of any. If you were to give it a Mega Evolution, how would you go about it? As a few of the people above me have mentioned, give it more Attack and Defense but less Speed. Maybe 85/175/180/60/100/10 or something like that, and give it another ability such as Battle Armor, Pressure, or maybe even Multiscale, haha. What's your overall opinion on Gigalith? Despite people calling it a ripoff of Golem, I don't want to say it's a bad Pokémon. Granted, there's a lot it misses out on, like a second typing and even a handful of moves, but it can still hit pretty hard and looks pretty cool. Anything else you want to mention about it? I have a shiny Roggenrola in X that I caught back in October, although I haven't done anything with it, sadly. Maybe i'll train it up for fun sometime. |
Sorry for not posting. x.x
Have you ever used Gigalith before, competitively or in-game? If so, when? I haven't though I'll try using it in-game since it's outclassed in the competitive department. Do you like Gigalith's design? I do! It's simple to the point and looks neat! Do you like its Rock-typing? If not, would you give it another type alongside it? Well, it makes sense so I'd keep it. If you were to give it a Mega Evolution, how would you go about it? More defensive stats (Def + Sp. Def) and maybe give it Solid Rock. What's your overall opinion on Gigalith? Cool design with a nice shiny (agreeing with others). Anything else you want to mention about it? Not really apart from I want to use it (thank goodness I have at least two DS'). @Pendra- Ooh nice! Shiny Gigalith looks neat~ |
I think I've used one like once? It was pretty good but I wouldn't use it again, haha.
Have you ever used Gigalith before, competitively or in-game? If so, when? Can't say I have competitively. I did use one on my in-game team for B/W though. Do you like Gigalith's design? It's cool, yeah! I'm really a fan of how they used red as opposed to say brown or grey for its colour scheme. The dark blue and red just mix together perfectly. As for the actual design, I would say that the detail behind it is just right. It isn't overly complex but at the same time, it isn't too simple either. Do you like its Rock-typing? If not, would you give it another type alongside it? It fits the description of Gigalith perfectly so yes. I don't think you could of really thrown in anything else either. Maybe ground? But that'd just be adding more weaknesses so y'know. :( If you were to give it a Mega Evolution, how would you go about it? I'd give it a secondary steel typing and change the stones to metal maybe. It could be seen as an Aggron/Bastiodon 2.0 but I think it'd be pretty nice. What's your overall opinion on Gigalith? If you're looking for something fun to use, it's probably not Gigalith. While I loved its offensive and defensive front, it wasn't really that interesting and I didn't use it much throughout the storyline. Though I really hate how extensive the weaknesses of rocks are so maybe that's why? It's definitely not bad, it's just not something you'd use to mop up everything you see. Anything else you want to mention about it? Roggenrola is the Geodude of Gen V. I'd of really wanted them to expand on the amount of pokemon found in caves but still... it's not that bad. Being unable to OHKO it is annoying though, haha. |

Seems we have some people who are in favor of Gigalith here, and that's good.
And yay another member that has this generation as a favorite! I'll admit that I wasn't too keen on BW for a little while but I came to like it, and then B2W2 needs no explanation from me. :P And I still need to edit the OP to reflect to the current topic x_x |
Have you ever used Gigalith before, competitively or in-game? If so, when?
I think I used one on my first BW play through. Considering getting one competitively. Do you like Gigalith's design? Yeah! Its one of my favorite Gen V designs! Do you like its Rock-typing? If not, would you give it another type alongside it? Rock is a pretty bad typing, but imo I don't see anything else fitting, so no. Maybe better STAB? Or Ground type? If you were to give it a Mega Evolution, how would you go about it? Raise Sp. Def by 50, Atk by 30, Defense by 30, and decrease Spe by 10. Add 200 more pounds to total weight, and either give him Sturdy, Filter, or maybe even Adaptability. What's your overall opinion on Gigalith? Pretty cool Pokémon. Anything else you want to mention about it? Meh, not much. |
Alright! Time for another PotW, after a while. Here goes!
http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2012/354/e/b/haxorus_by_midnightcharizard-d5omrfg.png Haxorus, the Axe Jaw Pokémon. They are kind but can be relentless when defending territory. They challenge foes with tusks that can cut steel. Their sturdy tusks will stay sharp even if used to cut steel beams. These Pokémon are covered in hard armor. What do you think of that? A gentle giant, hm? That said, with Haxorus, we have a pure Dragon-type, with no awful Ice-type weakness along the lines of its brethren like Dragonite, Salamence and Flygon. It has a MASSIVE Attack stat, at base 147, which is just behind that of the likes of Groudon, Rayquaza, and even Zekrom. However, the only other stat it has that's above average is Speed, which is a hair below its fellow special oriented attacker, Hydreigon. Its HP is okay, and I guess its Defense is decent, but its Special Defense leaves something to be desired. Despite that, Haxorus is still very capable of hitting, and hitting hard, between moves like Dragon Dance OR Swords Dance, STAB Outrage, Earthquake, and as of B2W2, Low Kick or Superpower. At 232.6 lbs, it's not drastically heavy like some of the bigger ones out there, but it definitely weighs a bunch (taking a 100 BP attack from Low Kick or Grass Knot). For abilities, it has Rivalry, which benefits it against opposition of the same gender as it but hampers it against the opposite gender, or it can have the Mold Breaker ability, which allows moves to work against opposing abilities, most notably things like Sturdy and Levitate. Here are my questions for you on this one: Have you ever used Haxorus before, competitively or in-game? If so, when? Do you like Haxorus design? Do you like its Dragon-typing? If not, would you give it another type alongside it? If you were to give it a Mega Evolution, how would you go about it? What's your overall opinion on Haxorus? Bonus question: Did you ever have a difficult time with Iris' Haxorus in her Champion battle in B2W2? Anything else you want to mention about it? There you have it. |
It's cool; it's a dinosaur with an axe for a face, basically. Haxorus is a beast in-game. Dragon Dance and gg no re CPU. In Gen 5 anyway. Did use a Swords Dance one on a UU team in the XY metagame and it was a fantastic wallbreaker. Very few things in UU can handle a +2 STAB Outrage, and the 2 Fairies you'll see can't take a Poison Jab. That base 97 Speed tho....
In some ways it's nice to have a fully evolved pure Dragon type (Haxorus was the first fully evolved pure Dragon type iirc), but it'd also be nice if it had a second type too, so long as it's not another Dragon/Flying or Dragon/Ground. We got enough of that. If they give it a Mega Evolution I hope that it gets to be part Steel. There's seriously no other type that would fit imo. We need another Dragon/Steel anyway. It's also one of the few shinies that I like. But I liked its Gen V cry a lot better than the Gen VI one. And I don't remember if Iris's Haxorus ever gave me trouble in B2W2 |
Haxorus is amazing!
I don't really recall using one but I think I will in UU (though I prefer Hydreigon as my go to Dragon <3). In Black 2, Scrafty cleanly took it out (cause DD variant kek) but in White 2, I kind of played around with it. Pure Dragon suits it well. For Mega, more Speed and Defense; Tough Claws could work too. |
Guess i'll answer my own questions.
Have you ever used Haxorus before, competitively or in-game? If so, when? Yes, I have. I used it at least once in Black a long time ago, and I used one in my first ever playthrough of X when I first got the game back in October 2013. And I also used one in my White 2 Challenge Mode Wedlocke back last spring, but it came super late in the game and only got real action against Grimsley and Iris (i'll get to the latter in a bit). Do you like Haxorus' design? I would have to say yes, I most certainly do. Those axes at the top of its head give it a fearsome demeanor to it even though it's meant to be described as a "gentle giant". Do you like its Dragon-typing? If not, would you give it another type alongside it? Yeah, I think it fits decently. Although it looks like a Pokémon that would have been neat if it had a Steel-type to it, because those axe jaws and its design really supplement that decently if you ask me. If you were to give it a Mega Evolution, how would you go about it? I think i'd up its Attack a little, and the defenses and Speed. Maybe something like +20/+20/+0/+30/+30 (so 76/167/110/60/100/127). And give it a Bug-type, too, because that's another type that it could also make perfect sense with. And the Tough Claws ability I guess? Wonder if that'd be too generic. Oh, and let it have Megahorn. That'd be nice. What's your overall opinion on Haxorus? Although it was up there as another dragon that got hit pretty hard with the introduction of the Fairy-types in Generation VI, it's still a fun Pokémon to use, if a super strong one at that. Bonus question: Did you ever have a difficult time with Iris' Haxorus in her Champion battle in B2W2? Well the very first time I played White 2 I remember it providing somewhat of a challenge since it could SE my entire team except Samurott, who I had to keep alive to manage to beat it. And in the many challenges i've done, i've definitely had to take it hard. To name one in particular, I remember one time when I did a No Evolutions challenge way back in 2013, my only Pokémon remaining was Elgyem and when she came out, I had to revive something and she used Dragon Dance, and from there on out it was like almost ten minutes of trying to stall it out with Revives and hoping my Elekid would get Static on her, which it never did. It eventually killed itself from multiple hits of confusion damage. And with another go on Black 2 that I had in August, I remember getting greedy with my Escavalier and setting up +4 Defense with Iron Defense when she had only that at about a third of her health, and Archeops, left. I just had to survive the next hit...but she scored a critical hit, which normally would be impossible since I had Shell Armor, but she had Mold Breaker which says screw you to that, and I failed. The second try (well, third because I restarted after my Scolipede missed against her Hydreigon then she OHKO'ed with Fire Blast), she OHKO'ed my Lucario with Earthquake, and my Espeon got in a Reflect and did over half her health with Psychic before she 2HKO'ed me with Outrage. After that, my Drapion managed to finish it when she hurt herself in confusion. If I kept talking about other times i've dealt with it i'd be here a while so I think i'll stop there. Anything else you want to mention about it? Not really. And there you go. |
I've definitely utilized Haxorus before competitively, and I could say it's quite easy to use. It's been a while since I'd actually put my hands on it in regards to this, though, so unfortunately, right now, I don't believe I could put my finger on any particular strategy related to Haxorus (though, I'm sure there are a few out there that I like).
Do I like Haxorus design? Yes, of course! I believe it looks kind of... scary, in a good way, and this look does seem a lot suitable for such a Pokémon, especially considering that it's dragon-type and whatnot. I did not like it at first when I'd first seen it in-game (initially, I'd thought it might've been bug-type, primarily due to the color scheme), but after taking a peek into an official artwork, my opinion on Haxorus has changed entirely. If this Pokémon were to gain a mega-evolution form at some point in future, I believe Moxie would be a perfect ability for it. Tough Claws wouldn't be too bad, either, though! |
Have you ever used Haxorus before, competitively or in-game? If so, when?
Yes, I used it competitively and it was beast. Do you like Haxorus design? Yeah, its pretty cool and it doesn't look like the typical dragon you'd expect (with wings) Do you like its Dragon-typing? If not, would you give it another type alongside it? I'd give it Poison type because not only does it look like it could inflict venom, but having that nice STAB Poison Jab is nice If you were to give it a Mega Evolution, how would you go about it? I'll post this later What's your overall opinion on Haxorus? Its a great 'mon! Bonus question: Did you ever have a difficult time with Iris' Haxorus in her Champion battle in B2W2? I never really played B2W2, only the original Anything else you want to mention about it? Nope |

I felt somehow both happy since I can finally use new Pokemon I've never used before and somehow sad since they kinda removed the feature where your Pokemon follows you and removing Pikachu from the game's storyline. |
Alright, so I FINALLY updated the OP, you can tell I haven't done that in a while :P
But nice to see that some people like Haxorus, and actually I didn't state this in my initial post but it was actually my favorite Gen V Pokémon for a little while, I would say it was when XY came that Scolipede started to become my favorite. I do still like the yellow axe wielder but not quite as much. It's disheartening that we have people that call this their favorite generation but say they've never really played B2W2 tho |
Does anyone else feel like Haxorus is overshadowed by other dragon types though? It's a great dragon type but in comparison to the pseudo legendaries, it just can't compete with its singular typing. I think giving it an extra typing like bug or steel would of been good in this case. Making it purely dragon doesn't give much of an incentive for people to pick it over something like Hydreigon or the other pseudo legendaries really. ):
But whilst we're on the topic of Gen V dragons, how do people feel about Druddigon? I like its design though I'm sure there are a lot of people willing to fight me for that view. ;] |
I'm not too much fond of its appearance, I'm sorry to say, but I've utilized it a couple of times when battling, and it seemed to have performed pretty well; much better than few other dragon-types we have around! It's intriguing to imagine how its evolution, whether it be a normal one or mega (personally, I'd prefer former, and once that's done, would definitely be interested to see latter).

Partner Pokemon: Seismitoad Reason for joining: Gen 5 is underrated by those who think this is not Pokemon anymore. It had many awesome designs and a lot of powerful Pokemon. Current topic: Haxorus is awesome. It has a neat design and is probably the best dragon in-game due to its 147 base attack and solid speed stat, boosting moves in Dragon Dance and Swords Dance, and moves such as Outrage, Earthquake, Poison Jab and Brick Break (even Strength hits hard!), which makes it a force to be reckoned with. Competitively it's not as good but it's really underrated. From my experience, it puts a lot of pressure on stall teams that don't use Mega Slowbro, by using a Swords Dance/Taunt/Dragon Claw/Poison Jab @ Lum Berry set. Magnezone is a must though due to steels such as Skarm and Ferro which are commonly seen on defensive teams. |
Druddigon is a Pokémon I always found to be rather under-appreciated, even though it clearly isn't one of the bigger ones. It doesn't evolve, has around average defenses allowing it to survive at least one hit most of the time, and some very unique abilities that can help it quite a bit. I bred one in X that can be used in Trick Room, with 31 IVs in everything except Special Attack, and Speed which was a 0. I haven't done much with it but it's still something fun. Yeah, it has a lot it can use, but it's just really cut out. But I don't want to call it the worst Dragon-type like some people have.
