Start with Star Fox 64, guys. And remember. Do a barrel roll!

Kanzler January 7th, 2015 11:43 AM

Holy that's the first double post I've seen in a while.

skyluigi2 January 7th, 2015 12:48 PM

I've really never played any Star Fox games before... I once watched a friend play the DS one and it looked decent, but not really my kind of game.

Sir Codin January 7th, 2015 5:03 PM

The reasons people hated Star Fox Adventures were because:

1) It was basically a Zelda game without everything that made Zelda games fun.
2) Tricky
3) The Star Fox series is basically a shooter series and most fans were expecting...not what they got with Adventures.
4) Tricky

Yukari January 7th, 2015 5:03 PM

It's probably the best On-Rails shooter out there if you ask me. 64 is regarded as the best in the series. If you want to get into the it, then that's the best place to start.

By the way, the next person to make a Barrel Roll joke on here dies. They were funny at first but now it's just annoying.

Also you're going to take a bullet to the head tomorrow.

Alfieri January 7th, 2015 7:24 PM

I knew about that from Death Battle. Apparently the "barrel roll" in Star Fox is some other aerial trick.

Yukari January 7th, 2015 7:29 PM

Yeah it's actually an aileron roll.

According to that video, anyway.

The Ruby Of The Sea January 7th, 2015 7:48 PM

My mom associates barrel rolls with Donkey Kong >.> That's about all I could get her to play aside from mario and tetris.

Don't forget the fifth reason: Krystal (since, you know, she's really unpopular in Japan).

Miracle Seed January 8th, 2015 12:12 AM

I didn't like Star Fox because at the time, I was too enamored with Metroid and the whole slew of Mario games

Bellsprout January 8th, 2015 5:15 AM

*waiting for this game talk to be over*

Yukari January 8th, 2015 7:24 AM

Tough, it will never be over.

I'm kinda disappointed that I never got to play Metriod until rather recently. Most of my childhood was spent playing Megaman, Mario, Sonic and Pokemon.

Tsutarja January 8th, 2015 7:35 AM

I've played Metroid a little. Never got into the series, though. Same with Zelda, never really got into the series but have played bits and pieces of those games.

Judge Mandolore Shepard January 8th, 2015 7:43 AM

When it comes to the games in the Metroid series, only ones I have played are Zero Mission, II: Return of Samus, Fusion, Prime Hunters, and Prime 3: Corruption. Course there has not been a new Metroid game since 2010. That is quite disappointing since I like the Metroid series.

A new Metroid game was confirmed back at E3 2014 to be in development. We just don't know if it's going to be a 2D Metroid game or a 3D Prime game.

blue January 8th, 2015 10:18 AM

Never tried the Metroid series if I'm honest. Then again it doesn't really look like my type of game.

I think that either would be pretty cool. Though... I've only ever played the 2D Metroid games.

Honest January 8th, 2015 11:37 AM

Don't laugh at my ignorance, but Metroid is the one with Samus, right? :x

If SSB is anything to go by, then yes, haha.

Yukari January 8th, 2015 12:56 PM

Just to be clear, Metroid is the game with Samus in it.

Pepperton January 8th, 2015 7:58 PM

never played those games, was too busy hittin up them pocket monsters

Alfieri January 8th, 2015 8:03 PM

Mario is the game with Mario in it.

Pinkie-Dawn January 8th, 2015 9:00 PM

And Zelda is the game with Link in it.

It's funny how the only Nintendo games I knew prior to Smash Bros. 64 were Mario, DK, Yoshi, and Star Fox.

Alfieri January 8th, 2015 9:11 PM

I only knew about Mario, Pokemon, Zelda and Donkey Kong. Smash Bros. introduced me to F-Zero, Fire Emblem, Star Fox, Metroid, etc.

Starry Windy January 8th, 2015 11:59 PM

When I got Smash Bros., I was starting to know about more franchise like Star Fox, Earthbound (Mother series), Kid Icarus, The Legend of Zelda, Yoshi series, and Xenoblade.

It's funny that I started to play Kid Icarus (Uprising, in particular) because of Smash, haha.

Parivir January 9th, 2015 5:55 AM

Well, to be fair, that was a pretty massive faux pas. He might have taken it too far with the whole "he had it coming" gambit, but there is logic to what he says. JS Mill (of "your rights cannot violate others' rights" fame) would probably agree.

Shining Raichu January 9th, 2015 8:13 AM

Never underestimate the power of suggestion

donavannj January 9th, 2015 8:24 AM

Speaking of the power of suggestion, let's talk about the weather! :P

Okay actually, let's not. Andy and several others would kill me if we started talking about the weather due to my suggestion. Even if it is dominating my mind because my legs are still cold even though I've been inside for half an hour. They're still cold because I had to muck about in our garage and in our driveway to get my car started, though. Damn brother of mine left a few levers on the steering column in their "on" positions when he was done borrowing my car and the battery drained overnight. At least, that's what I think happened. It could have been completely unrelated to those.

I'll withhold my thoughts on current events for now. I have thoughts, but they'd incite anger from segments of both major sides.

Shining Raichu January 9th, 2015 8:31 AM

I, on the other hand, have no thoughts. No care.

The weather over here in Sydney is even more annoying which is annoying given it's summer over in Australia, all that damn searing heat and the intolerable levels of humidity making me constantly having to wet myself as a cool-down method.

Oh man summer isn't fun either. All the insects, humidity, and sweat. I wish it was Spring all year round lol.

Alfieri January 9th, 2015 9:42 AM

donavannj January 9th, 2015 10:29 AM

I'd post my beagle, but I don't have any pictures of the little turd-butt (meant as an affectionate nickname of exasperation of course; she gets bored quickly and gets into things) handy. As far as she's concerned, her names are Lucy, Lulu, Monster, *noises in the kitchen*, and the smell of beef jerky.

Yukari January 9th, 2015 10:32 AM

What sucks for me is that it's very cold in my house, and I'm wearing rubber sandals right now which cause my feet to sweat. :/

Dogs are cool, but dogs < snakes. Who doesn't love a pet that can strangle you?

Pinkie-Dawn January 9th, 2015 4:42 PM

It feels odd to have a dog topic here when my online friend's dog passed away yesterday (he had to be put to sleep due to having a tumor from diabetes).

Sonata January 9th, 2015 5:15 PM

My mom just got a siberian husky like 2 weeks ago. She's a big fluffball.

And then on the other hand the dog that my dad and his fiance rescued this past week died because of an infection that she got after having one of her legs removed.

Alfieri January 9th, 2015 5:19 PM

True, it looks cute asf and its awesome. BUT- have you imagined the horrible horrible scenario of a Husky mating with a Pomeranian... Even if we swap the genders in our in-mind visual, it doesn't make it better even a bit.

Ice January 10th, 2015 2:37 AM

I thought we were talking about the weather? What happened, who let the dogs out? Who? Who?

Mark Kamill January 10th, 2015 2:40 AM

The line cook I work with has a Golden Retrevier, that is basically Marley. That thing ways 50 kilos, and is pure hyperactivity. Was playing with it the other day and it was gonna eat me, I swear to god its that friendly. Only 2 years old, which means its in its prime.

Pendraflare January 10th, 2015 8:42 AM

The title of this thread may as well be "The Weather Thread" :P

Anyway, I can't take this cold anymore. I've had to work outside in below 15 degrees. Good thing today's my last day for the semester... I really hope i'm not the only person here that actually likes the summer time x( But admittedly, spring is a better suited season that fits a good mix of both.

*flees*

Yukari January 10th, 2015 9:41 AM

Spring is the perfect season in my opinion.

The Ruby Of The Sea January 10th, 2015 12:19 PM

I don't mind Winter at all. I like curling up in blankets or throwing on my cool hoodies and scarves >_>

Yukari January 10th, 2015 1:59 PM

Eh, I like winter, but it's always too cold. If you ask me.

maccrash January 10th, 2015 2:09 PM

winter is cool for about a month and then it becomes absolutely awful and I hate it. once Christmas passes there is nothing to look forward to in winter. I just want it to be spring again.

Centipede Chan January 10th, 2015 3:49 PM

I actually love the cold. It's the wind I can't stand. It's Stabbing you with cold and that's the most painful thing about winter.

Sonata January 10th, 2015 3:52 PM

I've been wearing shorts and a sweatshirt out lately, but that's about what we wear here 10 out of the 12 months of the year. It's not too ungodly cold here but it's not warm either.

Claudaine January 11th, 2015 2:55 AM

It's not too cold here ust now, but there was a point where I was wearing skinny jeans and heat tech tights under my work trousers because some of the Kindergartens where I work don't believe in heaters... which is a bit ridiculous if you ask me.

I also resorted to wearing 5 layers of tops and drinking hot coffee from a flask all day. Not looking forward to this warm spell ending.

Ice January 11th, 2015 5:36 AM

Man, the wind here is out of control. I was cycling home yesterday and I almost got pulled off the road. It is terrible. Last year we has some trees that just got torn out of the ground and onto the road. I can't imagine what Americans in the hurricane season go through.

Alfieri January 11th, 2015 7:05 AM

Speaking of wind, how about that Hurricane Sandy that hit the northeast such as my area back in 2012? ;o

The aftermath was crazy. I was walking around the neighborhood and moving around all the fallen trees on the sidewalks like it was an obstacle course. There were cars smashed under trees, and the public buses were riding for free, and schools were closed for like a month lol. New Jersey had it worse though. They were probably getting around from place to place with a boat and a paddle. It seems NJ gets it worse than NY.

Hikamaru January 11th, 2015 7:57 AM

lol weather topic again

But thankfully, most terrifying storms where I am usually only happen in the northern parts of the country. That's not to say some other areas have had their fair share of wild weather as well.

Yukari January 11th, 2015 11:34 AM

It's easy to talk about. I don't see what the problem is.

I'm glad I never have to deal with hurricanes where I live. :p

But I remember a few years back we had at least one tornado warning in my area each year. Fortunately, my house was never destroyed.

Alfieri January 11th, 2015 11:37 AM

It was surprising because NY is not known for having any natural disasters like hurricanes, tornadoes or earthquakes. Yet we faced all 3 in the last few years. x.x

Well that earthquake happened in Virginia but we felt the edge of the shock up here.

Judge Mandolore Shepard January 11th, 2015 11:54 AM

One main natural disaster that Washington State might have to deal with is volcanic eruptions. This is because there are volcanoes that are part of the Pacific Ring of Fire in Washington State. The last major one occurred back on May 18, 1980 with the eruption of Mount St. Helens.

The weather last year was crazy, to say the least. It never fails to amaze me, though, that even in hellish weather there's always somebody out jogging. In blazing heat, in frigid snow, cockroaches and joggers will outlive us all...

I can't wait to move to the UK. Fog, rain, and a drizzly day in Holland Park. Ah, the cobblestone!

Pendraflare January 11th, 2015 6:58 PM

I don't jog, but I like taking the longest paths around campus when i'm coming to and from classes or to other areas. It's not very convenient but makes for decent exercise to me.

Nothing wrong with it. It was a reaction on the drinking behavior of the swedes. Most of my friends are big drinkers, I'm the only on that doesn't drink much. I usually only drink at dance parties, and even then I won't get drunk, but sometimes I have to carry them away while they try to kiss a guy in drag and can't walk anymore. You would like them, I think, haha.

Well, that one I may have made little better with some imagination, but I have a quite attractive friend who always knows how to find the crazy girls at parties. It's always fun to see him struggling to get away after a kiss and having heard that he is the perfect boyfriend material or that her grandma would love him. Recently it calmed down, though, because the legal drinking age is 18 since 2014, and me and half my friends aren't 18 yet.
