Hoopa Officially Revealed!

COROCORO leaked today and it revealed Hoopa, the Pokemon we have known about for over a year now. Hoopa will be in the new movie along with Groudon, Kyogre and Rayquaza. The title is; The Archdjinn of the Rings.

A shiny Rayquaza event will start this month for Japan (of course).

When do you think Hoopa will be revealed by TCPi? When will the Hoopa went start? Do you think the Rayquaza event will hit western countries? When will unbound Hoopa be revealed?
Discuss!

Ooh, so they finally revealed it. Wonder when we're gonna get an event for it....and I swear Game Freak if it's not a WiFi event we're gonna have a problem.

I totally agree, due to living in Ireland I haven't been able to get any events except wi-fi events, which kind of annoys me due to later seeing people everywhere with what I couldn't have gotten.

Alumens January 10th, 2015 11:44 AM

Oh my! Too bad Hoopa was discovered early on by some hack team, it would be much more exciting. And I totally agree with the WiFi event haha

blue January 10th, 2015 11:50 AM

I'm glad they finally officially revealed Hoopa, I'm looking forward to downloading and seeing it in action! I assume we will be getting Volcanion some time later this year to complete the trio.

Gardevoir the Dragon Slayer January 10th, 2015 12:09 PM

Still think its a hideous looking thing, whatever the hell its meant to be.

Definitely no. Japan never shares events, especially with America.

The only events we ever get are exclusive legendaries and shinies.

UK might get it, though.

Tek January 10th, 2015 12:47 PM

Well, after Japan has had three or four Hoopa events, along with twenty other events in between, the rest of us might get a Hoopa. But I'm not bitter or anything.

Volcanion will most likely be revelead next year, to promote the new movie in 2016.

I think Hoopa Unbound will be revealed some time around May/June, to create more hype for the movie and is a huge selling point.

antemortem January 10th, 2015 1:52 PM

I can't imagine the movie will have much of an original plot because at this point what more is there to do? I wish Diancie, Hoopa, and Volcanion were all in a movie together, but still distributed separately. In any case, Hoopa Unbound looks really cool (except its Shiny form) and its base stats are whack. Can't wait to possibly get Hoopa and somehow uncover this Prison Bottle... thing.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire January 10th, 2015 1:58 PM

Okay so Anime News Network mentions Hoopa will be available in ORAS but not through normal gameplay...it almost sounds like we'll be able to capture it in game somehow...maybe we'll get some minor DLC for it? Maybe the desert will appear? Or will it be ORAS only and XY won't get Hoopa through wi-fi?!

Btw I'll like to share something I found out. I researched Djinn today again as I had recalled they were some kind of demon in Islam (actually they're like humans with free will and can be either good, neutral, or evil but have magical powers similar to angels). They are said to be creatures from other realms and alternate universes. So it seems that Hoopa's hyper portal powers come from that.

Garchomp January 10th, 2015 5:20 PM

Meanwhile, waiting for Volcanion...

Pendraflare January 10th, 2015 5:49 PM

We had seen rumors of this thing becoming real for a while now, but looks like now it's no mystery. But at this point I just hope it's given in a not terribly inconvenient way like some event Pokémon have.

Ah yes I remember how terrible the Diancie event was with all those stupid one-used codes... I do hope they learned their lesson from that and go back to old wi-fi Mystery Gift for this Hoopa event.

And on a side note, I love Hoopa's new official Sugimori art.

JVS January 10th, 2015 8:21 PM

You know what really grinds my ears? Hoopa being a Kalos/XY legend and it being release as a DLC for ORAS/Hoenn. Just ????? Why didn't they put it in the game in the first place. I bet this one's gonna come out like Diancie. If you want the pokemon, you gotta have to go to the cinema and buy a ticket to have it. If you don't, just wait for it to arrive on the GTS. They could launch it worlwide via wi-fi. And on XY.

Who said it's a Kalos legendary? Just because it's in the data for X and Y doesn't mean it's actually supposed to be from Kalos. Case in point, look at all the gold rings around Hoenn, none of those are around Kalos, so obviously Hoopa is actually supposed to b from Hoenn. The thing people keep forgetting is that the hackers were not the programmers of Gamefreak, just because Hackers released data in the game doesn't mean that game freak released the info. After all, Entei, Zekrom and Uxie are in the game data for X and Y, but are any of them Kalos legendaries? Nope!

He may be referring to how Hoopa is in the Kalos dex (while not being in the Hoenn dex) thus is a Kalos mon. Interestingly though Arceus and several mons from Gen IV aren't part of any regional dex...so therefore not part of any region by that logic. Though I actually think he is thinking of them as the way most mons are thought of when it comes to which region they belong to, in other words the region that was introduced in the same generation they were.

Anyways in response to the original poster, it's been done before. Deoxys was first available in FrLg not RS or Emerald despite being a 'Hoenn' mon.

Evening January 10th, 2015 11:58 PM

GameFreak, I will destroy you if you do not release Hoopa as a Wifi Event.

SnowpointQuincy January 11th, 2015 12:21 AM

I don't like him yet... When will they reveal his other secret form? (if that is real)

Archdjinn is a hard word to say.

It is real, I have it in Alpha Sapphire myself. You get an item that transforms him if you talk to a guy that shows up in any Pokemart when Hoopa is in your party.
Proof, sorry for the bad quality, it was taken with my phone:

And Archdjinn, how the hell do you even say that. lol

ilias_ January 11th, 2015 1:58 AM

It was about time! Hoopa is a great Pokemon imo. I like it.

I don't think the event will be Wi-Fi , sadly :( but I understand why.

Sloan Kettering January 11th, 2015 4:20 AM

Hoopa will be distributed the same as Diancie. I really think Gamefreak just hate the fanbase.

Also, I need to gets me a hacked Hoopa, don't wanna wait...but those one things are so expensive...is much easier IV breeding and access to event pokemon worth $200?

Yes...but I've gotta buy a car.

Altairis January 11th, 2015 11:55 AM

Well... I don't know how interesting this movie is actually going to be, given that they're featuring the Hoenn weather trio legends; gee, I wonder what is going to go wrong there?

I want to know what's up with Hoopa's Unbound forme, though.

KostK2Boss January 11th, 2015 2:32 PM

Since it's starring in a movie it probably won't be available through Wi-fi and instead be given out only to people who actually watch the movie, because the folks at the Pokemon Company think it's still 2004.

I'm not too crazy about it. It's alternate form looks cool, but battle-wise it doesn't look that interesting to me. I'll probably be more interested in Volcanion and AZ's Floette if they ever come out. As far as previous-gen legendaries go, I'd really like to see Jirachi, Darkrai or Arceus as Wi-fi gifts for ORAS.

clbgolden January 11th, 2015 4:10 PM

About time he was finally confirmed. I actually don't mind him being distributed through the same way as Diancie. Also, I hope the Shiny Mega Rayquaza comes to the US somehow later on.

Sloan Kettering January 11th, 2015 5:38 PM

Movie guess: Hoopa warps the ancient primal groudon and kyogre with the original mega-rayquaza to Kalos.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire January 11th, 2015 6:48 PM

@ Metal Man
That's likely how it's going to be.

I hope we get an in game event, perhaps they could have it so that we get the bottle by Wi-fi which causes a ring to form above Hoenn...perhaps over Littleroot with Hoopa inside.

Unfortunately that won't happen because you get the bottle when you have Hoopa in your party.
That does seem like a really cool idea though, they should have done something like that.

I thought a number of the event Pokemon which show up in movies (so nigh all of them the last several years) have come out as either wifi or shop events across many countries outside of Japan.

Neat it's been announced, not terribly excited about it though. I suppose I'm currently indifferent about its design.

Quite sure there's already some info on it. Can't recall for sure but I remember watching a video about its background. Search it up on YouTube, you might find something.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire January 11th, 2015 8:00 PM

Or perhaps instead of a typical wi-fi gift Hoopa appears in the player's team if one has an empty spot while entering the Pokémon center after receiving the Mystery Gift. It'll be like how Shedinja pops up when one evolves Nincada.

Gogoat Rocks! January 12th, 2015 3:16 AM

(I just got on my computer and opened Serebii)
Finally! Hoopa has officially been confirmed! I've been the most excited for Hoopa out of the Trio(Diancie, Hoopa, Volcanion). Hoopa is also going to be in the 2015 Pokemon movie! can't wait for that! all in all, I'm really excited for Hoopa :)
I hope Hoopa will WiFi event for Hoopa. that would be awesome.

It is just as ORAS says. Hoopa appeared for the first time in Kalos, and, therefore, he is a Kalos pokémon. As Hoppip appeared in Jhoto and Treecko in Hoenn, you don't say they are from Sinnoh or from Kanto. They are from their homelands, the first region they appear in. It makes, for me, no sense to launch Hoopa only in ORAS since it's first appearance was in XY. That pokémon is from the region of Kalos, not from Hoenn. I know that every pokémon can travel through every region, but it's where they first appear that matter.

If we went like that, all the starters where from all the regions. They're on the dex.

I was talking to the guy above you ORAS, I just quoted you since you answered for me in the way I thought to do. Thanks ;)

Warugaji January 12th, 2015 11:45 AM

Re: the Japan getting events before everyone else thing, are there not devices you can buy where you can download exact copies of the official 'wonder cards' from a 3rd party server? Including all the 'legacy' X and Y wonder cards that are also shareable to Or/As.

Pretty sure you can get all the Korean and wider world event cards, too.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire January 12th, 2015 5:26 PM

I heard those kind of devices don't work on OrAs due to the company fearing they'll be sued. Not sure how true that is...but if it is it makes me wonder if we truly know everything inside OrAs...

Nakasu January 12th, 2015 6:39 PM

Hopefully this will be a Mystery Gift event. God knows if they learned from the Diancie Event. Hopefully this one will be released wi-fi. I'm pretty excited if this will a good Pokemon or not. Also if this Pokemon is true, i wonder about the other two that were found in Pokemon X and Y. I'm sure they will release it when the movie comes out. and hopefully it's wifi.

Dragon January 13th, 2015 1:08 PM

Hoopa's attack and special attack are looking really, really good: like, it already has 110 base attack and 150 base special attack on it's normal form which in other words is about, 350 attack and 438 special attack, but theeeen comes it's unbound form: 160 base attack and 170 base special attack, which is like, 460 attack and 482 special attack. @[email protected] wow. Then again it kinda doesn't like bug and dark attacks, soooo.. maybe that makes up for it?

Anywho,I do look forward to it! I wonder how it'll fit in though; like a sidestory for Hoopa in ORAS? Maybe one for like, a third game for X&Y? Hm.

To anyone still asking I'm pretty sure Archdjinn is pronounced 'ark-jin'. It was driving me crazy that no one responded. :psy copy:

I'm getting pretty pumped now that Hoopa is officially released, but like everyone else, PULEEEEEASE be a wifi event. 3XD

Pinkie-Dawn January 14th, 2015 1:51 PM

The fact that Hoopa's dex number is right after Diancie makes me want to ship those two due to their different facial expressions. I still need to know its base stats to see if it's overpowered or not.

Gogoat Rocks! January 14th, 2015 4:17 PM

New Trailer for Hoopa:

Leviathan January 14th, 2015 4:46 PM

I would get excited about this, but only after the method of distribution is announced. If it's a wi-fi event, yay, time to celebrate! If it's streetpass, the one-use code or some other method, then I'm simply going to look elsewhere whilst all the Hoopa hype calms down.

Twilight-kun January 14th, 2015 5:16 PM

*slow, underwhelming applause*

...I really don't care about Legendaries anymore, especially since Gen III when they started event pokemon

Now they just make completing the National PokéDex next to impossible

Hoopa really needs to stop leaving her rings scattered throughout Hoenn though, Pokémon keep tripping through them

Good luck to those that use her, I'll stick to my common Pokémon and treat Legendaries like the forces of nature they are and leave them alone

Honestly, I haven't seen Hoopa Unbound
So. I'll probably headcanon them into two separate entities

Besides, female vikings and dwarves all magnificent flowing beards as well

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire January 14th, 2015 9:43 PM

Well Hoopa isn't a Viking or a dwarf but a Djinn (aka Genie).

@ Twilight Kun Uh, not sure if Mew had events in Gen I but I do know that Celebi had one in Gen II (think it was Jp only though...) so Gen III wasn't the start of event legends (it wasn't even that big in Gen III with only two exclusive to events, and with ORAS' regional dex in fact has only one exclusive to an event (Jirachi as one can get Deoxys in game, and one can also trade for the other Lati) like Gen I (Mew) and Gen II's (Celebi) and their remakes' regional dexes.

Unbound Hoopa seems a bit OP...one of it's weaknesses is bug but that is barely seen in higher tiers leaving Fairy as it's main weakness. Then comes that truly exclusive signature move it has...and it's stat boost...

Wonder what Volcanion would get...perhaps a Primal to fit the three major form changes in the series.

Doesn't Hoopa's dual typing give it a 4x weakness to Dark types, who are now becoming more common in the higher tiers thanks to few Fighting types and Knock Off's buff this gen?

Hoopa unbound is Psychic/Dark so it got rid of it's 4x weaknesses to Dark and Ghost only to gain Fairy as a weakness. I would say it's a fair trade.

So Scolipede, Scizor, Heracross, Volcarona, Pinsir, and now Mega Beedrill are hardly ever seen?

This thing would fall so hard to a Megahorn, X-Scissor, Bug Buzz, Adaptability-boosted U-Turn, or Pin Missile.

Those are a few. In recent times I've only seen Scizor, Heracross, Pinsir, and Mega Beedrill used though, not as much Volcarona as in Gen V.

Ah well

Hoopa and his Signature attack "Hyperspace Hole" can be traded to XY
His Alternate form can also go to XY

However, Hoopa-Unbound's Signature attack "Hyperspace Furry" can't be traded to XY.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire January 16th, 2015 7:56 AM

That's because XY lacks the coding for that move (HyperSpace Fury).

Yeah...one would...

Where did you hear this?

In addition to what ORAS said above me, Hoopa Unbound itself is not in XY code either. I've tried trading it over myself and it said unable to trade or something like that, and when I tried trading Normal Hoopa, it traded just fine.

PokéMew January 16th, 2015 2:17 PM

As many others said, I really hope Hoopa gets an event in the U.S. Yeah, of course Japan (as usual) gets all the goods. Maybe I'll consider moving to Japan. -_-

Yeah. Japan always getting good stuff. :(

On the topic however, I've not seen the potential for Hoopa, yet. But, it's backsatory (or myth or speculations) seemed pretty interesting, bringing the legendaries to Hoenn.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire January 17th, 2015 1:33 PM

I do have issues with how Palkia was involved... it created space and it seems to have the ability to travel through dimensions (same with Dialga and Giratina), yet it and it's trio members were somehow captured by Hoopa...not that being captured by some small pocket sized balls is any better...

The official site also has the same text that Anime News Network used...about how it'll be in ORAS but not through normal means, make it sound like it'll be part of a DLC or something along those lines.

Maybe they're caught in their own powers? I mean, Hoopa also has the ability to bend space, seeing as it sent most of the legendary Pokemon to Hoenn, so I guess Palkia somehow got sucked into it also. Like a hunter being trapped by his own clamp.

Altairis January 17th, 2015 10:35 PM

Hoopa was recently given an English/US trailer according to Serebii; if Gamefreak here is acknowledging its existence then it's likely we'll be able to acquire it somehow.
