Doesn't Hoopa's dual typing give it a 4x weakness to Dark types, who are now becoming more common in the higher tiers thanks to few Fighting types and Knock Off's buff this gen?

Hoopa unbound is Psychic/Dark so it got rid of it's 4x weaknesses to Dark and Ghost only to gain Fairy as a weakness. I would say it's a fair trade.

So Scolipede, Scizor, Heracross, Volcarona, Pinsir, and now Mega Beedrill are hardly ever seen?

This thing would fall so hard to a Megahorn, X-Scissor, Bug Buzz, Adaptability-boosted U-Turn, or Pin Missile.

So. I'll probably headcanon them into two separate entities

Besides, female vikings and dwarves all magnificent flowing beards as well

Even without his unbound form, Hoopa looks like a guy IMO. But, he does have that blush on him...

Those are a few. In recent times I've only seen Scizor, Heracross, Pinsir, and Mega Beedrill used though, not as much Volcarona as in Gen V.

Can Hoopa learn any fire moves?

Only Sunny Day and Fire Punch according to Serebii.

Twilight-kun January 16th, 2015 12:22 AM

You'd think a Pokémon based on a djinn would learn fire type moves

Ah well

Hoopa and his Signature attack "Hyperspace Hole" can be traded to XY
His Alternate form can also go to XY

However, Hoopa-Unbound's Signature attack "Hyperspace Furry" can't be traded to XY.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire January 16th, 2015 7:56 AM

That's because XY lacks the coding for that move (HyperSpace Fury).

Yeah...one would...

Where did you hear this?

In addition to what ORAS said above me, Hoopa Unbound itself is not in XY code either. I've tried trading it over myself and it said unable to trade or something like that, and when I tried trading Normal Hoopa, it traded just fine.

As many others said, I really hope Hoopa gets an event in the U.S. Yeah, of course Japan (as usual) gets all the goods. Maybe I'll consider moving to Japan. -_-

Might have misread the trivia section on the Attack's Bulbapedia page.

Yeah. Japan always getting good stuff. :(

On the topic however, I've not seen the potential for Hoopa, yet. But, it's backsatory (or myth or speculations) seemed pretty interesting, bringing the legendaries to Hoenn.

I do have issues with how Palkia was involved... it created space and it seems to have the ability to travel through dimensions (same with Dialga and Giratina), yet it and it's trio members were somehow captured by Hoopa...not that being captured by some small pocket sized balls is any better...

The official site also has the same text that Anime News Network used...about how it'll be in ORAS but not through normal means, make it sound like it'll be part of a DLC or something along those lines.

Maybe they're caught in their own powers? I mean, Hoopa also has the ability to bend space, seeing as it sent most of the legendary Pokemon to Hoenn, so I guess Palkia somehow got sucked into it also. Like a hunter being trapped by his own clamp.

Hoopa was recently given an English/US trailer according to Serebii; if Gamefreak here is acknowledging its existence then it's likely we'll be able to acquire it somehow.
