Animal Lovers Association v2!~

Animal Lovers ASSOCIATION
http://31.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mctv3si8aF1r4zr2vo1_500.gif
A club for both animal lovers & pet owners alike!
Owner: Axeliira

εїз introduction

Welcome to the second reincarnation of FC&G's Animal Lovers Association. The first version died back in August, and quite honestly I missed having this club around, and I hope it stays around longer than the other thread!

Animals. Big, small, tall, short, over the land or under the sea. We learn from them, we feel for them, we grow with them. We may be fascinated with any type of animals, or we may even have our own pets. This club is specially dedicated to the animal lover in you. Do you have one or more favorite animals? Are you a pet/animal owner or you grew up with pets as a child? Do you plan on studying animals in the near future? Whichever it may be, this club is for any type of animal lover out there. We can discuss anything that has to do with animals, any animal from all over the world. Birds, dogs, cats, fish, tigers, elephants, sharks...and many many more!

Pet owners are also animal lovers as well, so if you have any pets, we do encourage you to join! :)

εїз rules

  • All PokeCommunity & FC&G rules apply here as well
  • Respect is a must in the community. Everyone must respect the opinions, views, and thoughts of others.
  • Everyone is encouraged to discuss anything related to animals, such as news, current issues, show off your pets, or even fangirl about a certain family of animals.
  • In addition to that, anyone is encouraged to bring up a new topic in case the previous one has died down.
  • Please, do feed the birds.

εїз sign up

No sign-up form is required for this group. If this is your first time posting in the group, just simply state your username, what your favorite animal is, and try to stay within the discussion if you can. Basically, introduce yourself! If you have any pets, you may also state that as well :D As owner, I don't think a sign-up form is necessary. :P

Example of mine:
Spoiler:
I'm Axeliira, and I'm a proud owner of two cats (Serafina and Mikaila) and a dog, Abby, who's a cocker spaniel, and Bentley, a young chihuahua. I love all kinds of animals...dogs, cats, fish, reptiles, birds, rodents, and sooo many more. I even want to adopt wild animals like otters and foxes. If only there was a way, actually!

Juno February 5th, 2015 3:34 AM

Yay! I've missed this too, I've had nowhere to talk about cute dogs I've met or that one coyote I saw on campus like a week ago. :s

So, I'm Juno and I'd say I like dogs just a bit more than any other kind of animals. c: I can't imagine not having one in my life, ever. My family currently has a 14 year old yorkie named Mocha - she can be kind of grumpy around other dogs sometimes, but otherwise quite sweet and very good with people.

I volunteered at an animal shelter for about two years, but stopped last summer since I moved, though I'm still hoping to get back to it at one of the local branches (maybe when I'm less busy). And it's actually difficult to find available positions, I've noticed - they're literally always full on free help, what

...But I guess that shows how much people like working with animals. ♥

oh these are butterflies, took me a while to realize that εїз

Hiatus February 5th, 2015 4:35 AM

I'd love to join! I was a member of our previous Animal Lovers club, but unfortunately, I haven't participated much; hopefully, I will change that up this time around.

Currently, I own one cat, and it is female; we call her Bailey. We've had her in our house for about two years now, and is definitely well-liked by all family members. She was quite energetic when she was young (she would break things a lot, which was slightly upsetting to see, unfortunately), but now that she's grown older, she seems to be more mature, understanding.

She does seem to be overly lazy every now and again, however, which is a downside. Aside from that, from time to time, she doesn't wind up going outside when peeing and whatnot, but luckily, we've all gotten used to that and have learned to manage the situation better.

Kung Fu Ferret February 5th, 2015 6:05 AM

I'll join. I live alone, but my family has pets.
My mother is thinking about getting a THIRD dog. She has a mutt and a three-legged JRT, and is currently looking for a dachshund at a local animal shelter.

Meganium February 5th, 2015 10:23 PM

Welcome, guys! Yeah, we seriously needed a place to fangirl about animals! So I'm glad there is some interest <3

I grew up with pets all my life. I got my first puppy at kindergarten (three years later she ran away *sniff*), and got my first kitty at age 15. I am also a huge fan of fish and aquatic life, and I plan to get an aquarium tank once I move in to my new apartment next month. I'm so excited to have fish again <3

Hey, Digi..sometimes you can't get enough dogs. :P I'll admit I freaking looove dachshund doggies. Hope she finds one very soon!

Venitardus February 8th, 2015 9:13 PM

Oh I missed this club! Time to join again!

Names Joey, I'm a dog lover, but I like all types of animals. I currently have 5 dogs between me and my parents. Dahlia (adopted, beagle/hound/lab mix and oldest), Zeus (adopted, Rottweiler/lab mix and 2nd oldest, Haley (pure bred lab and 3rd oldest), Sierra (pure bred lab and first daughter of haley), and Bella (pire bred lab and 2nd daughter of haley). I have had several other dogs before, all past away. I also have had 2 cats, one we gave away, the other past away.
But just to have pets in my life is everything and I can't imagine life without them

Meganium February 8th, 2015 10:29 PM

Welcome, Joey! I remembered you mentioned your doggy had puppies in the first version of the club. Or was it Gunner? Can't remember whom. Nonetheless, hope they are doing okay!

I've been visiting this page several times in the past week.

Why are foxes are so cute?!

It was me. 3 litters and might do a 4th with mom. But later this year we're going to breed Sierra.

And for the fox thing, the first thing that comes to mind now is the video 'What does the fox say'. But I do have to agree, fox's are cute.

Astinus February 9th, 2015 6:11 PM

I missed this club too!

I'm Astinus and I can't really pick a favorite animal! I love foxes, raccoons, mice, weasels, and cats. I do have three cats as pets, along with two dogs and a hamster. My cats are Luna, Nova, and Pretzel (Siamese); the dogs are Chloe (American Eskimo mix) and Ella (Parson Russell Terrier); the hamster is Nugget (Chinese Dwarf).

Foxes are just so cute.

Probably my favorite fox right there. Tod from fox and the hound.

Meganium February 15th, 2015 6:30 AM

Welcome Asty!~

Oh, I agree that it's probably the cutest one ever. :D I'm a fox fan, I simply adore them. :D

How about a general topic discussion to get things started, yes? Let's say you ~magically~ turned into an animal, what would you be?

I'd say either a lion or a wolf/dog. Both are one of my favorite animals in the animal kingdom..

Or I would like to turn into a hawk or some thing that can fly.

Chiaki Nanami February 15th, 2015 3:36 PM

I'm ChiakiNanami and would like to join. Just bought a guinea pig yesterday and trying to get it to not run away whenever I get close to it. My fav animal is otters and have liked animals since I was a kid.

Being an otter would be a lot of fun tbh :D

Meganium February 18th, 2015 9:28 AM

Welcome, welcome! How's the Guinea Pig so far Hopefully it has adjusted to their new life with you! They're pretty adorbs. <3

I honestly think so too. Otters are incredibly cute. Wish they aren't as wild so I can actually have one as a pet. They're too cute and cuddly.

Warspirit February 21st, 2015 12:17 PM

oooh I've actually been looking for something like this!

Hey, I'm Warspirit but you can just call me War. I own a spoiled, bratty Maine Coon mix and 3 hyperactive gerbil females. I'm looking forward to also getting a dog when I move! I love all animals, but my favorite has to be horses because of their power, size, gentleness and beauty. I really want to work with them, no matter if it's just grooming or competitive. They're one of the reasons I'm going into a career with animals and going to school to study animal behaviour/etc.

Probably a wolf. I love the pack dynamics and how they're such a tight knit community. They're like one big family. I really like the hunting strategies too vs being a lone hunter (even though the African Wild Dog's strategy is pretty cool too).

Chiaki Nanami February 23rd, 2015 8:49 PM

He/She is good. Very cute too. Funny how a rat in an alley scares me but I find Gunia Pigs cute and they are the same family.

Meganium March 20th, 2015 9:24 AM

http://www.khou.com/story/news/local/2015/03/19/metro-the-bus-riding-dog-and-his-20-mile-journey/25048281/

Lately the past few days (as I recently moved to Houston), I've been hearing about animals traveling solo via public transportation. Recently, there was a story about a Boston Terrier named after Houston's Public Transportation "Metro". He rode the bus 20 miles around downtown, then he was taken to the veterinary hospital so they can find the actual owner of the dog. What's really surprising is that he acted like a actual human gentleman. With good manners and everything. xD

Squirrel March 20th, 2015 9:36 AM

Omg the panda cursor is adorable *.*

Oh hey I had no idea this place existed, I'd love to join! I'm Ozzy/Squirrel and I'm a huge animal lover. I don't currently have a pet right now as I'm unfortunately not allowed to keep one in my university house, but the second I get into proper accommodation I'm hoping to get a pet rabbit. I did have a bunny until a couple months ago, but unfortunately he died and it was an incredibly sad day. His name was Kenny, he was an albino lop-eared dwarf rabbit and was the darn cutest thing you've ever seen. He was so well behaved and was always incredibly friendly but unfortunately he just couldn't last forever and it was his time to go. I was devastated of course, but even more so due to having not seen him in months from being at university for so long. But hey, these things have to happen I guess!

Sorry for the depressing story haha. Outside of pets I adore most animals, my favourites of course being squirrels, and I've worked up a huge collection of animal soft toys which I keep displayed on the shelf above my desk just so I can always look up and see their cute little faces ♥ I've got tonnes more to say about these topics and more but I guess I'll leave that for future discussions, so for now, hi! I'm Ozzy and I love you all :D

He enjoys sticking his tongue up people's noses for some reason.

Awww he's absolutely adorable, I want it *.* What happened to his fourth leg? Accident, birth defect...? Do you tend to find him harder to look after with a missing leg or do you just not notice any more? You two seem to have a cute relationship haha.

Lumina March 27th, 2015 11:53 PM

Abba has one delightfull cat of five years named Oscar, who is a Norwegian Forest Cat/Ragdoll mix.

I don't have any pictures of him on hand but gawd he's adorable I'll try to remember to grab a picture or two of him later to show the lil psycho off~

It was cancer (I think), but I got used to his lack of leg after a few months or so. He also dances for food. We got him off Craigslist for free back in 2008.

He and my mom's other dog Momo like to play what I call "Hardcore Tug-of-War".

Ohh i see :o Probably a silly question but I assume you got him whilst he had 3 legs and it didn't happen whilst you had him? Just wondering how big of an impact it would make haha. The dancing for food sounds adorable omg XD

Kung Fu Ferret March 28th, 2015 10:05 AM

We got him when he had four legs, he didn't have the operation until 2011.

Meganium March 29th, 2015 5:26 PM

Welcome to those that joined. <3

I got a picture from my dad. A week ago or so, they adopted a female chihuahua mix so that way Bentley could have a playmate (Abby was too big for him haha). She was too perfect for him. They named her Tiny because well...she's tiny! xD

She's super cute and I can't wait to meet her very soon when I visit my parents. She's on the right, btw!

Squirrel May 12th, 2015 6:57 AM

Aww Tiny looks so cute, I'm jealous! Did you get to meet her yet? Really wish I could own a pet here at uni but the landlord is against it :( Plus it'd cost so much money that I don't have already, but still...

Meganium May 14th, 2015 5:06 AM

Nope, but when I visit my parents in Cali in two weeks, I will be able to. It didn't take her long to potty-train her (took me about 6 months to train Bentley), and she's very quiet (usually female Chihuahua pups are REALLY loud and loyal to only one person). I will post more pics when I get there though!

That's one reason why I want to move out of my current loft and move to a bigger apartment. I want a pet, either a dog or a cat. (or even a Ferret, though I'll have to shell out $300 straight out of my pocket to buy everything INCLUDING the ferret). Hopefully I can do that before Summer's end!

It's also a little expensive to rent an apartment with a pet. That's another $250-300 non-refundable deposit straight out as well, but what would we do without animals in our lives? xD

Cariad May 31st, 2015 8:45 AM

Hey, I'm Cariad, but my actual name is Molly so try and call me that if you can! My favourite animals are probably cats, though I love any kind of feline, so tigers and panthers are a close second. I also love rodents, specifically guinea pigs and chinchillas, and I love canines as well... in fact, I love pretty much all animals!

I own one cat at the moment, since I'm only allowed one animal at a time, and I've had her for about 8 or so years now? She's a black and white mixed breed. I'm having a bit of trouble with her right now though - she's really more of an outdoors cat than an indoors cat (my parent's choice, not mine) and we can't seem to get her to come inside, apart from eating. She spends all her time outside, in the garden, and only comes in to eat, or use the litterbox. It's worrying.

Venitardus June 1st, 2015 11:35 AM

So I haven't been on for a while but my dog is pregnant again. When

Meganium June 2nd, 2015 1:21 PM

Welcome, Cariad! It's wonderful for you to join in! Your cat is roughly the same age as my boyfriend's cat. She's a little inactive, but we're hoping to get her to become a bit more active since she's a little overweight. I know a few tricks, though!

Congrats on your dog's pregnancy again, Joey! I'm sure it'll be a joy for her to have puppies again. :3

So I just got back from florida and I decided to take some pictures and yeah. I got a few of a dolphin, pelicans, and of my aunts cats. (That's not all I got but for the sake of the thread, those are the animal ones I got.

and if I could figure out how to upload more pictures from my phone I would do so.

Anyone own a cat? I saw this post on tumblr and I wanted to share with you guys! This makes me miss my two cats back in Cali, and it's good to know that when they blink slowly it simply means they trust their owners. <3

Meganium June 19th, 2015 7:43 AM

Hi Fletch! Welcome to the club. :3 Arctic Foxes are freaking adorable!

Anyone seen the trailer to The Secret Life of Pets? It's so funny, and it really makes you wonder what really happens when you are away and leave your pets at home.

Also, in other news, I finally got myself an aquarium! Bought a male veiltail betta fish, and it had added a lot of life in my place.

https://twitter.com/petaldancer/status/611727198551175168

Astinus June 21st, 2015 2:49 PM

When I watched that trailer, the dog who's just staring at the door waiting for his owner to return reminded me of my dog. She just sits in the window waiting for me to come back home from work.

I love how you decorated Bob's aquarium! And I've heard he's a little bit of a troublemaker? (He was about to jump out of his home one night, right?) A part of me misses having fish around, but I have no place to put a tank.

brygarde June 22nd, 2015 4:28 AM

Hey, everyone. I'm brygarde/Bryan! I was a little hesitant to join at first because I am not currently a pet owner. Unfortunately, as much as I love animals, my parents have been sort of the obstacle to me having an animal of my own. My mom is allergic to basically every animal except dogs and we had one when I was very small for a while, but she ended up giving her to my uncle (who has 5 dogs at the time/7 dogs now-he rescues greyhounds). So, that kinda ruined the possibility of me having a pet while living with my parents. However, I do intend on getting a pet of my own once I move out. Growing up, I always had to mooch off of my friends who had animals and take advantage of spending time with them at their houses.

My favorite animals are pigs, dogs, cats, elephants, giraffes, dolphins, and cows (just to name a few). My favorites are pigs and dogs though, with cats closely behind. My cousin has a small farm where she raises pigs (not for slaughter, but as pets) and they're super cute, friendly, and intelligent. I love them all, from the big, chunky ones to the smaller ones. If I don't live in a city area (as pigs aren't really allowed there), I hope to adopt a pig of my own. I'd also like to have a Pomeranian and/or a Golden Retriever, and maybe a cat or two. Guess I need a big house for all of them :P

Well, anyways, hi all! :)

Meganium June 25th, 2015 2:59 AM

Yeah, Asty. He tried that three times so far, even with the tank secured and closed. Poor guy he keeps bumping his head those three times on the surface. Apparently betta fish are really good jumpers. So it's not recommended to keep them in open-surface fish bowls. I was leaning towards getting one for him, but I opted for a 1-gallon aquarium instead. xD

He seems to be really happy now, has been producing a huge bubble nest. I've been thinking of getting him a "girlfish" but I don't want to have to go through the pain of...well, you know...future fry and all that! xD

Welcome, btw, Bryan! I love your history of animals. Do you mean an actual pig or a pug? (I have an uncle who owns a farmload of pigs in Mexico).

Venitardus July 3rd, 2015 8:58 AM

I refuse to let this die! (Even though it's been about 7 days since the last post...)

So my dog has started labor. Her temp dropped to 98.9, so she should be going on the next day or 2.

Poké Bean July 3rd, 2015 5:26 PM

Hi! I'm Spoony, and I'm a cat lady :meow:

I have 2 18 month old cats called Eli and Sheldon - I've put a picture of them in my profile album - who break me from cute every single day! They are insatiable when it comes to play, belly rubs and chicken!

I also volunteer for my local branch of Cats Protection which is amazing to be part of. My hope is that a job will come up at some point.

Venitardus, I hope your dog is doing well!

Meganium July 3rd, 2015 7:45 PM

Please keep us up to date with your dog's labor, Joey! I hope she gets through okay. D:

& welcome aboard, Spoony. Yay for cat ladies! I am a cat lady at heart, I practically adore them. <3

Well, my dog had a difficult labor. She had 3 pups at home, having them every 2 hours or so, which isn't good. The last one at home wasn't developed enough and didn't make it. So me and my mom took her to the emergency room. After about 4 hours there (6 hours after the last pup came out), she finally had a c-section. She had 3 more pups. She just came home about an hour and a half ago and her and the babies are all gone and healthy. This was her smallest litter. But anyway. Here is a pic of the puppies.

So here is a picture of the puppies now. All healthy and almost a week old! Tomorrow one of the blacks and the white boy are a week, and on Saturday the other 2 are a week. They're growing up fast. In another week, week and a half they should be opening their eyes and starting to wobble (walk). It's probably the cutest thing ever.

Yeah it's pretty neat to watch them grow up from little tiny things to little terrors that then go off to new homes.

Meganium July 20th, 2015 1:53 PM

Nice to see that the pups are doing well, despite the difficult labor your dog had to go through!

A couple of days ago, my landlord's brother rescued a kitten from a tree. It looked extremely helpless and malnourished, so he's mostly taking care of it. It's a brown-white tabby, and very adorable. Hopefully I'll take some pictures of it really soon. :3

I don't suppose anyone has any tips on hypo-allergenic pets? My mum's allergic to dogs but really wants one as a pet, so we've looked into it quite a bit but they seem so expensive with no real guarantee of working out... has anyone been through this situation and found a good answer?

Dogs with hair as opposed to fur are hypoallergenic, but you have to keep their hair trimmed, because they don't shed. It can be expensive.

I don't recall anyone being allergic to reptiles. Leopard geckos are the CUTEST!

Yeah it's sad. Especially when you get attached to one or if tou have one left and you have them for a few extra days after the others go. But I'm glad they all got good homes and that they all went home before I moved.

Meganium September 28th, 2015 8:49 AM

I'm gonna go ahead and bring this back before the 60 days are up! :D

A couple weekends ago, my boyfriend took me to Galveston Island, and on our agenda we went DOLPHIN WATCHING. It was the most amazing experience ever, I did not know there were actual dolphins at the Port of Galveston, wild ones for that matter. Our favorite mammal is the Dolphin, which is really awesome.
