Thread Viruses?

I twice went on a thread in this section and I just got a jumble of leters numbers and symbols. The now moved thread "Hey Hey Hey" and "Should rep be banned?" On the first one "Hey Hey Hey" my entire computer froze up and my Virus Protection killed a virus. The second one I managed to press back before anything happened. Has this happened to anyone else? :\

MegaDitto March 26th, 2005 9:28 AM

Something like that happened yesterday. Look at the last 2 threads. It should help.

Kyogre-chan March 26th, 2005 9:29 AM

Actually, no. See Arcanine's thread from yesterday? I'm using Firefox now, and every so often, it pops up with a window asking me to download the page I'm trying to view. Only happens on PC, though. =\

danielthmaniel March 26th, 2005 9:29 AM

I understand. Nothing really popped up for me though. Mostly the viruseds I was a bit woried about.

Freenaturearts March 26th, 2005 9:32 AM

Same here o.o I'v never had that happen, is there a way to protect myself from it? cause I dont have a good protection database T_T...

The Fallen March 26th, 2005 9:32 AM

It's nothing.PC's server is just having some problems.Steve will have to reset it again today most likely.

Freenaturearts March 26th, 2005 9:34 AM

RESETO_O what do you meen by that?
Will everything be okay?

danielthmaniel March 26th, 2005 9:34 AM

I see. Nortan Anti-Virus might of made a mistake I guess.

The Fallen March 26th, 2005 9:36 AM

Yeah, it'll just be a reboot of the server which will most likely get rid of those errors, as it did yesterday.Nothing to worry about ^^.

Kyogre-chan March 26th, 2005 9:38 AM

I hope you aren't trying to say that we'll need to reboot the server each time these pop up, considering how often they're occuring lately… =\

The Fallen March 26th, 2005 9:39 AM

I don't know that.Steve might have to move us again, maybe.

MegaDitto March 26th, 2005 9:39 AM

Wouldnt it be a better idea to just get a new server instead of using the same one. One that is more avdanced.

Pokemon Master #1 March 26th, 2005 9:40 AM

It must stop!

It seams odd how bad things keep happening to PC.It must stop!

Kyogre-chan March 26th, 2005 9:43 AM

Because changing servers takes a lot of time and effort, not to mention inaccesibility to PC during the move. But yeah, that's another matter. If you wish to debate a server change, please start a new thread.

Oh, and Pokemon Master #1, that isn't really helping. ^_^;

Rukario March 26th, 2005 10:09 AM

it may just be simple server overload and apache can't complete the request (happens when there is a MUCH larger then normal load on the server or it it gets more page requests then it's designed to handle at once.
It is usually very rare and temporary, but, for it to happen more then once in 2 days is not right.. i'm looking into it now..

so anyway if it happens again, just refresh the page you were trying to access.

Meow Kitty March 26th, 2005 10:19 AM

Yes. It happened to me at least 3 times today...

Hollywood March 26th, 2005 10:27 AM

Yes, it keeps on happening to me like every five minutes.

Lust March 26th, 2005 10:32 AM

This hasn't happened to me but I don't think it's a virus.

Freenaturearts March 26th, 2005 10:51 AM

Me nether ^^ I'v gotten it seven times since I'v joined today where the screen go's all ceruped and such, and all I do is refresh and it's back to where I was, I think it's just a glich now, nothing serios on my end (thankfuly)

DarkMew March 26th, 2005 11:03 AM

I got that one too.
It looks like a problem with vBulletin

Master Kwesi Nkromah March 26th, 2005 11:09 AM

if apache or PHP fails you'll be asked to do download the file. this happend today.. its not a virus, just a random error.

Kyogre-chan March 26th, 2005 11:12 AM

I thought so. Internet Explorer will try to open the file instead, which will result in an encrypted version of the page you were trying to view.

Still, it's become quite frequent lately. Isn't there a solution? ^_^;

ravenstorture March 26th, 2005 11:16 AM

Yeah, it asks me if I want to download something or whatever, I just hit cancel and just refresh and it doesn't do it anymore.

Master Kwesi Nkromah March 26th, 2005 11:16 AM

I truely hope so. It's more of an issue for the server administrators on steve's end, I wouldn't even know where to begin. with that being said, daniel i think your question was answerd.

Porygon March 26th, 2005 1:12 PM

Mwar… as long as PC's going to be OK.
