Dice Roll Challenge

Dice Roll Challenge:
X, Y, and the Roll of the Die

First, please appreciate the thread name, it rhymes.

Second, welcome to my first challenge in a long while since the bingo challenge and personality challenges which were ultimately not that feasible since they took too much prep time and maintenance.

For this challenge it's much simpler to get started, but the game itself is nothing but simple with the twists and turns. It's a matter of random luck and chance as you navigate your way through the Kalos region with aspects that engage both the degree of challenge and team development. Essentially, dice are rolled and determine your fate in both those respects. Doesn't that sound thrilling?

5. Dice correspond from the dice sheet, left to right, starting at one.

For instance, if a dice sheet has a 1, 3, 4, 4, 2, 6, 4, 2, 4, 5.
(Die 1) refers to the value of 1. (Die 2) refers to the value of 3. (Die 3) refers to value of 4.
Each value has a description of what task/restriction is placed on your game.

Nicknames! (Die 1)
Follow a theme of nicknames by whichever category you get.
1: Food Names (ie. Cupcake, Apple, and Cream)
2: Locations (ie. Paris, Nevada, and Brooklyn)
3: Fictional Characters - Select a show, movie, book, or video game, and then assign names.
(ie. Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Buffy, Willow, Giles, Spike, Angel, and Drucilla)
4: Historical Figures - (Roosevelt, Cleopatra, and Ghandi)
5: Same first Letter - Use the first letter of your username or real name for all pokemon.
(ie. Dark Avenger...Darla, Darcy, Dimitry, Diana, Dartanian.)
6: All names must rhyme! So choose wisely when you name your starter pokemon.
(ei. Billy, Milly, Dilly, Jilly, Trilly, Quilly)

Starter Pokemon- (Die 2)
You must select a designated starter; however, you may trade up for a kanto starter. You may only keep and use one of them though! If you get a 1, choose fennekin, and it's up to you if you would like to drop it after Sycamore offers you a Kanto starter. You must immediately box the one you don't want. If you get a 4, you must pick fennekin, and it's up to you if you would like to drop Fennekin for a Pikachu in Satalune forest. However, you must make this choice before you reach route 3.

1 - Burning with desire! Choose Fennekin or Charmander
2 - Turning a new leaf! Choose Chespin or Bulbasaur
3 - Making a splash! Choose Froakie or Squirtle
4 - Baby you're a firework! Choose Fennekin or Pikachu
5 - You're naturally stunning! Choose Chespin or Pikachu
6 - Storming into battle! Choose Froakie or Pikachu

Team Slot 2 (Die 3)
You must capture the first pokemon encountered of the two routes listed. Then pick a pokemon to discard.
1 - Impatient! Satuloon Forest or Route 3
2 - Fast-learner! Route 22 or Route 4
3 - Decisive. Route 4 or Route 5
4 - Careful. Route 6 or Route 7
5 - Indecisive. Connecting Cave or Route 8
6 - Patient. Route 9 or Glittering Cave

Pokemon Slot 3 - Hobby (Die 4)
This pokemon must be obtain prior to moving on to the next team slot. The next team slot must be filled before the 4th gym badge is obtain. The challenge for this pokemon slot begins immediately after the 2nd gym.

1. Archeologist Camp- Excavate a Fossil Pokemon.

2. Stock Trader- Wonder Trade a Pokemon. (As many times as desired until the 4th pokemon is captured. Must capture a random pokemon to trade first and not use it.) This pokemon must be level 30 and under.

3. Cruiseline Af'fish'ianado - Capture any pokemon via Fishing Rod (Old rod available immediately or good rod obtained before 4th gym in Couramine City.)

4. Local Theatre Casting - Capture the first pokemon of every route/cave from route 10 until the 4th gym and then pick the one you love most prior to entering the Couramine gym.

5. History Museum Ethusiast - From route 10 on, capture the first pokemon you see from each generation, and only one per generation.
(For instance, if you encounter an eevee right after the second gym, you must capture it. Then if you encounter a mr.mime, you may not capture since you already encountered an eevee from gen 1. There is no order either. If the first pokemon you encounter is a manectric, you must capture it, and then not capture any other gen 3 pokemon until the 4th badge is attained. Further you must capture exactly six pokemon during this section, the first encounter of each gen, before you can even select a permenant pokemon. Once you do that, then you may go on to the 4th gym.)

6. Get stoned. You must stone evolve one pokemon prior to the 4th gym. (Mega stone not counted)

Quick Guide of available pokemon and stones!

Team Slot 4 (Dice 5 and 6) :
Team slots 4, 5, and 6 may be obtained in any order after the 4th gym is completed. You may only capture one pokemon between obtaining any given badge.
It's simple, if you get a type, like grass, then you must restrict yourself to obtaining a grass pokemon. Or, if it's a route or location, you must obtain a pokemon within that one area. Also, note that you must look at dice 4 AND 5, it's not adding the numbers together, these numbers below are two numeric values in the order listed. For instance, if dice 5 is a 1 and dice 6 is a 2, then you must use a fire pokemon.

1 + 1 - Middle Stage Pokemon
1 + 2- Fire
1 + 3 - Lumiouse Badlands
1 + 4 - Electric
1 + 5- Psychic
1 + 6 - Unevolved (Able to evolve pokemon, but you must not evolve it. Doesn't include non-evolving pokemon.)
2 + 1 - A pokemon that doesn't evolve into or from anything.
2 2 - Steel
2 3 - Route 14
2 4 - Normal
2 5 - Fairy
2 6 - Feminine (Either female-only or 3:1 female pokemon)
3 1 - Happiness (or Amie) Evolved Pokemon
3 2 - Dragon
3 + 3: Route 15 & 16 (includes lost hotel)
3 4 - Ground
3 5 - Rock
3 6 - Masculine (Either male-only or 3:1 male pokemon)
4 1 - Non-gendered pokemon
4 2 - Ice
4 3 - Route 18
4 4 - Fighting
4 5 - Poison
4 + 6 Human-like Egg Group
5 + 1 - Amorphous Egg Group
5 +2 - Ghost
5+ 3 - Route 17 & Frost Cavern
5 + 4 - Grass
5 + 5 - Dark
5 + 6 - Route 19
6 + 1 - Pokemon Village
6 + 2 - Flying
6 + 3 - Route 21 & Victory Road
6 + 4 - Water
6 + 5 - Bug
6 + 6 - Legendary Pokemon

Team Slot 5 (Die 7)
Team slots 4, 5, and 6 may be obtained in any order after the 4th gym is completed. You may only capture one pokemon between obtaining any given badge.
You will be asked to list these pokemon in a survey prior to recieving you dice sheet. Very simple, use that same pokemon!

1: Most Beautiful Pokemon
2: Cutest Pokemon
3: Smartest Pokemon
4: Coolest Pokemon
5: Toughest Pokemon
6: Favorite Pokemon Overall

Team Slot 6 (Dice 8, 9, 10)

Team slots 4, 5, and 6 may be obtained in any order after the 4th gym is completed. You may only capture one pokemon between obtaining any given badge.
First look at the 8th die, and then refer to only your 9th or 10th dice accordingly. Select any pokemon that matches that color. (The final evolution you plan to use)

For instance, if you get green, you may not capture a green electrike and evolve it into a manectric. Though, if you get a blue color, then you may capture an electrike and must evolve it as soon as possible.
Colors variations should be included. If you get red, you should be able to get a red florges. Ultimately, you don't have to use the colors on bulbapedia (in some cases I would even discourage it ie. "white" mareep or "purple" gastrodon) , but the color must match the dominant or a dominant color in the pokemon's design.

For instance, you cannot get a red or blue and therefore select a Roserade! (it's primarily green). Whereas, manectric is evenly blue and yellow, and therefore, either one of those colors is appropriate. If you're not sure, ask.

8th Die:
If it's odd (1, 3, 5) refer to your 9th die, ignore your 10th die.
If it's even (2, 4, 6) refer to your 10th die, ignore your 9th die.

9th Die:
1: Red
2: Orange
3: Yellow
4: Green
5: Blue
6: Purple

10th Die:
1: Pink
2: White:
3: Gray
4: Black
5: Brown
6: Favorite Color (As listed in sign-up questionaire)

In the Dice 8-9-10, I think you made a small mistake.
The description says depending on the 8th Die, refer to either Die 9 or Die 10. But then it says this.
Quote:

8th Die:
If it's odd (1, 3, 5) refer to your 9th die, ignore your 8th die.
If it's even (2, 4, 6) refer to your 8th die, ignore your 9th die.
I have everything else figured out and I will post my results once you clear this up.

First Update: Vaniville Town -> Lumiose City

Team Dice

Spoiler:
Die 1: All names must rhyme - theme is words ending in -less. Suffixes count, right?

Die 2:
6 - Storming into battle! Choose Froakie or Pikachu. Pikachu captured.

Die 3: 2 -
Fast-learner! Route 22 or Route 4. Choice was between Route 22's Psyduck or Route 4's Combee. Was tempted by the female Combee, but ultimately Water seemed the more useful choice over Bug/Flying. Psyduck added to team.

Current team

Spoiler:

Dauntlessthe Bold Pikachu, Male, Lv 15
Ability: Static
Moves: Thunder Shock, Thunder Wave, Quick Attack, Play Nice

Ruthless the Docile Psyduck, Female, Lv 10
Ability: Damp
Moves: Scratch, Tail Whip, Water Sport, Water Gun

Battle Dice

Spoiler:

First Gym: 6 - Double Down. Apply rules 1 and 2 for entire gym.
Prize: No rules for next gym or event battle!!!
Don't use super effective moves for entire gym. (it's fine if the opponent switches into the move)
Don't use any status moves for entire gym.

This one was a frustrating one since Dauntless only had Quick Attack and Viola's Bugs mocked me with their weakness to Electric Attacks. Won with the use of X-Attack and a lucky bout of Static-induced Paralysis on Vivillion.

Professor Sycamore: No rules.

Bulbasaur was another victim of Quick Attack, then Dauntless took care of Squirtle and Ruthless had Charmander. Easy.

Second Update: Lumiose City -> Coumarine City

Team Dice

Spoiler:

Fourth Dice - 4: Local Theatre Casting - Capture the first pokemon of every route/cave from route 10 until the 4th gym and then pick the one you love most prior to entering the Coumarine gym.

Relentless Eevee Route 10
Restless Dedenne Route 11
Painless Carbink Reflection Cave
Graveless Lucario Tower of Mastery
Chatot Route 12 FAINTED

Seventh Dice - 4: Coolest Pokemon (Aurorus)

Battle Dice

Spoiler:

Second Gym: 6 Double Down. Apply rules 2 and 3 for entire gym.
Prize: No rules for next gym or event battle!!!
Don't use any status moves for entire gym.
Only use one pokemon for entire gym

Ruthless was always going to be the Pokemon for the Rock-gym. Tyrunt was the main problem, but a lucky stretch of confusion from Water Pulse helped her out.

Third Gym:
No Rules

Easy. Dauntless got rid of most of them with his Nuzzle/Electroball combo and Ruthless used her Confusion.

Rival Battle I - Tower of Mastery: 1 Don't use super effective moves for entire battle. (it's fine if the opponent switches into the move)

Didn't have any super-effective moves anyway.

Rival Battle II: No Rules

Easy

Fourth Gym: 3. Only use one pokemon for entire gym.

Way harder. Relentless was a level 20 Eevee which meant he couldn't learn Psybeam. So I was stuck using Dauntless' Nuzzle and Electroball which was ineffective to everything except Jumpluff. Gogoat's Bulldoze was the main problem, and it's speed drop ruined Electroball. Lucky Paralysis streak (a theme in this run) was what got it in the end. Wish I'd had Flawless before this gym.

Ask any questions you have. , vm's would be preferred as to not congest the thread. Thanks.

This challenge looks incredibly complicated, hard to follow, and difficult to understand.

I'll do it.

Here ya go. Not sure how it's hard to follow. You look at a die and compare it with the results sheet, and perform a corresponding task. I promise it's just the fact that I wrote everything out in detail that it might appear more tedious than it actually is. Enjoy, let me know if you have any questions! :)

Third Update: Coumarine City -> Dendemille Town

Team Dice:

Spoiler:

Fourth Slot: 1 + 4 = Electric type
Had to wait until Tuesday to get him but the fifth Pokemon to join the team is Rotom. Went with Rotom-H since I had Ruthless for Water typing. Plus those oven mitt hands are so cute.

Battle Dice:

Spoiler:

Team Flare I- Power Plant: 2 Don't use any status moves for each battle.
Done. Flawless took care of most of it using his indoor Nature Power attack, Tri Attack affected by Refrigerate.

Fifth Gym: 2 Don't use any status moves for entire gym.
Easy. Had no status moves that would have affected an electric gym anyway.

Rival Battle 3 - Route 14: Don't use super effective moves for entire battle. (it's fine if the opponent switches into the move)
Just avoided using Relentless' Future Sight on my rival's starter and was fine.

Sixth Gym: 1 Don't use super effective moves for entire gym. (it's fine if the opponent switches into the move)
Once again had no Poison or Steel to use. Had to fight every non-Gym leader in the place to get enough EXP to evolve Flawless.

Team Flare II - Pokeball Factory: 6 No rules!!!
Easy

Not an update but the colour die instructions said if we weren't sure we could ask.

Would people consider Bisharp to be mostly grey? I'd consider him mostly light and dark-grey but I could be wrong.

Don't worry, I was just kidding :P

It is just the fact that there isn't a specific set of rules to follow the whole game that made it seem a bit hard to follow to me. Idk, maybe when I play it I'll find that I was wrong.

Can't do anything yet because the wifi I'm on won't let me view the dice :(
So I will take a look when I get home! But I don't know when I will be starting, I just finished my poison monotype on x and I still have a lot planned for that game. But I will do this challenge, whenever I get to it. ;)

Just an assumption. But I think it is supposed to be based on pokedex colour, which would make Bisharp red.

Never mind op said it doesn't have to match bulbapedia colours.

I like the idea of the challenge so I'm signing up.
