The Daily Chit Chat

So the last one was starting to triple post. I figured that was probably a good sign for me to kill the old thread in place of a new one. The rules!
  1. Check the topic at hand, and unless it's dead or something go with the flow of the current topic. You can reply to a dead topic if you're interested though, but don't go bringing up past conversations or anything.
  2. Be sure to follow PC's main rules. The people upstairs would get really mad if we were anarchists about forumming, so you gotta listen to what they have to say about... things... ahem. Don't take this one lightly.
  3. Until the siege for the 4/25 rule is over, you still have to follow it, no exceptions. Sorry if you have a GIF or something, we'll feel bad for you though. We'd almost sort of probably agree with you on that, most likely. Don't quote us on that.
  4. Just as a reminder, don't be a meanie to others about things. If you disagree with something really strongly put it in Notepad or on a blog, not here.
And off you go. I'm at home right now, I decided not to go to school, cause this weather is trash.

Ice March 5th, 2015 11:10 AM

I went shopping for clothes with some female friends, and they would help my shop for clothes. I bought one shirt, and I never wear it. That was a big 4 hour failure.

Dracowyn March 5th, 2015 11:14 AM

Ugh I hate shopping for clothes. The only one I don't mind having with me if I go for clothes is my sis. Cause she doesn't nag and isn't being pushy if I don't like something.

But even then, I don't like it. It's just plain boring.

Also I'm starting to get a bit nervous. I'm doing placement at the surgery department of the local hospital. And just today one of the mentors (those who guide and keep an eye on students) said he'll let me do the intubation of a patient in my last week. And I'm just scared I'd mess up.

Pinkie-Dawn March 5th, 2015 11:20 AM

When is comes to shopping for clothes, I make sure they're of different colors rather than just black, white, and gray. I have too many of those in my closet already. It must look diverse and neat color-wise. It's unfortunate that very few colorful clothes are made for adults, whereas the majority are made for kids.

Honest March 5th, 2015 11:21 AM

The only issue I have shopping for clothes is that I'm so strict with my money. I love it otherwise, I like looking good. 8)

That sounds amazing! I'm sure you'll do just fine, do let us know how it goes, okay?

I sure hope I'll do fine xD
I'll let it know. And well, maybe I'll do fine. I've already seen others do it often. I just hope it'll be an easy one, today we had an exceptionally hard one where the doctor needed a scope with a camera cause it was almost impossible without.

Thanks. My placement runs till the 3rd of April. 7 weeks in total. Then I'll have spring break and have 7 weeks of class after that.

Foxrally March 5th, 2015 11:31 AM

Are triple posts even a thing?!

Anyway, recently finished an RP post (third of the day). I'm debating whether to put it up right now or not.

Her March 5th, 2015 1:18 PM

i'm surprised anyone has the swear filter on

Kura March 5th, 2015 1:18 PM

Today was actually a really lovely day and I bumbled to the gym at lunch and even after work I took a little walk to the grocery store just to have a browse around (didn't buy anything though, because I'm weird like that.. I kinda just wanted to see the types of liquors that my specific branch carried.

moon March 5th, 2015 2:44 PM

Surprisingly, I don't have the swear filter on :o

Sylphiel March 5th, 2015 3:00 PM

Considering the foul mouth I've acquired in recent years (that you won't really see me use around here), I see no problem in leaving the filter off. :P

And yeah, the pokemon censor is kind of weird. It actually throws me off a bit when reading it.

Gardevoir the Dragon Slayer March 5th, 2015 3:16 PM

People hardly swear on here, so it doesn't really make much of a difference having it one or not haha.

It mostly censers weird things like the anime Kuroshitsuju, because its got the word shit in xD.

Alexander Nicholi March 5th, 2015 3:33 PM

Even though I never sweared that much really, I still felt limited by the filter, being forced and all.

I frankly don't know why we have a Pokémon censor lol :p

Tsutarja March 5th, 2015 3:43 PM

Good grief I wanted to swear this morning. I was woken up by heavy machinery next door to my house by a contracting company, and I dislike it when I can't go back to sleep.

Alexander Nicholi March 5th, 2015 3:46 PM

It's really hard not to go off of someone who dumps their problems on you, shows no consideration towards you, and then has some standard of expectations out of you along with that. Especially when that person is supposed to be going above and beyond selflessly in your interest and the only thing they're doing is taking advantage of you for their own petty gain.

Kura March 5th, 2015 3:50 PM

Can we turn it off in the user CP or something? @[email protected] I find it a bit annoying, myself..

Belldandy March 5th, 2015 3:59 PM

I didn't know the swear filter happened lol I rememberthe debate anyway.

I just see ***s :pink-tongue:

Alexander Nicholi March 5th, 2015 4:02 PM

IMO the censor move was something that was long overdue.

Belldandy, you really should disable it! :o

I am kidding obviously but I still think that utterly sucks.

Yeah, Edit Options and then halfway down the page there's the option to pick which filter you want, or none at all.

Alexander Nicholi March 5th, 2015 4:33 PM

Anyone hungry?

I wish I had something to eat. My aunt called me up and scheduled a birthday lunch with me, for Saturday. She's the only one in the family with her head around commitment so I kind of expected she'd be the only one to make any to-do over it.

Red Robin again you guys! Burgers as big as your face! Or so she's always said. My relatives are rather bourgeois so I'm comfortable.

Emboar March 5th, 2015 5:16 PM

I didn't have lunch because I bribe one of my classmates to be my slave do things for me in return for my lunch quite a bit.

Hikamaru March 5th, 2015 5:18 PM

I'm totally not hungry, ever.

#ohwownewdcc

alisaie March 5th, 2015 5:24 PM

Today I has leftover lasagna, some Arby's and then some cake so I'm pretty good!

'Cept not really because that cake was about three hours ago so I'm actually kinda hungry again. I eat way too much on my two days off every week. :(

Hikamaru March 5th, 2015 5:26 PM

Celebrations is its own section now? Whoa.

Bellsprout March 5th, 2015 5:32 PM

my brother's birthday was yesterday so I cut myself a piece of cake after work today hehe xo

Alexander Nicholi March 5th, 2015 5:43 PM

I've never had Red Robin before, but I was with my best friend and we were trying to find a place to eat. We tossed around the idea of Red Robin while driving around aimlessly and decided against it, so we went to Smashburger.

Probably the most stressful situations I put myself in is eating at new places. For some reason, I just get way too anxious when I'm ordering and get overwhelmed by the choices and unfamiliarity of it. How expensive is Red Robin? Is it good? Ever have Smashburger? Is Red Robin better than Smashburger?

Glameow March 5th, 2015 6:14 PM

Red Robin is pretty pricy. I haven't been in one in a few years. They have bottomless fries and floats

Her March 5th, 2015 6:14 PM

Sirfetch’d March 5th, 2015 6:18 PM

I've only eaten Red Robin once as I don't have one very close to me. I found it to be pretty good, but nothing that made it stand out from any other burger place tbh. Their fries were spectacular though if that has any influence!

Sirfetch’d March 5th, 2015 7:02 PM

Mm any kind of chocolate is great to me! I normally go boring and order plain vanilla wherever I go, but lately I've been a fan of banana flavored!

Nick March 5th, 2015 7:16 PM

this website is terrible. there are no prices and the design is ugly.

I have not been to Smashburger, and I don't think they have one of those here. Or they do and I just haven't noticed, I'll have to look around. Our only Red Robin is in Cary.

Red Robin did not disappoint me at all, and I've been to more than Crabtree's Red Robin. I think(?) we ended up going to one in Wilmington Beach, but I could be mistaken about that. Both of them met all expectations for me, nothing was forgotten, nice service, etc.

The food is actually quite large though, and the bread is the kind that will rather quickly expand in your stomach. The floats are... meh. They are what they are, I didn't find the flavour to be anything exceptional. They weren't bad, though. Definitely the right kind of sweetness you want out of root beer.

Honest March 5th, 2015 8:42 PM

Had Smashburger once. I thought it was meh, although I was drunk at the time, so that's probably clouding my memory. Shake Shake da best.

Sylphiel March 5th, 2015 8:46 PM

Huh, apparently there's a Cheeburger place somewhere near here. I swear I've never heard of it either.

I've only just been to Red Robin within the past month or two, and only because we'd been given gift cards for there for Christmas. Would definitely go again.

I remember being amused at their literal application of "bottomless fries".

Even far outside of PC the rating system doesn't get a whole lot of use, as far as forums go.

It's honestly probably better that way. I'd rather see a page of no star threads than sixty threads trying to entice me to click on it with '5 star' ratings. It would be a little jarring in my eyes.

It's confusing for me, but it's not like seeing a trans person as with them they have a desired gender and you can be empathetic with that, using it as a tool to enhance their experience. Love, and by extension empathy/understanding, play a large part in me being pan and not just bi, and that just can't exist with transvestites for me. It's more surface-level than I'd like it to be, and in reality it's a fetish that I just don't have. That's what I think.

Don't worry, you've confused me as well lol. That being said, while I might not personally agree with the parts that I did understand, I can respect that it seems like you've put some thought behind it and it's not completely a hate-related opinion against transvestites.

And for the record, before anyone blasts me for 'liking' his post, I have nothing against transvestites; I support their rights as much as anyone. It's more just that I respect people who can support their own opinions, even if they might not necessarily be the right ones in my eyes.

Although to be perfectly honest I'm getting lost now whether or not you're referring to transvestites or transgenders at this point.

Alexander Nicholi March 6th, 2015 3:56 AM

Oh you guys......

don't take things so seriously. We're all trying to have a good time. I can't hate transvestites because I have no personal preference for them - my opinion isn't the only one in the world by any stretch. You're asking for trouble if you try to echo it as such.

well, the way I use it on LTT must be a bit different.

The threads I subscribe to are either mega-threads where I'm part of a project on and may or may not be OP (such as with Sylvenstein), or Q/A threads I'm an OP on and want to be buzzed for responses with.

Foxrally March 6th, 2015 4:11 AM

The only threads I ever subscribed to were RP threads which I was in. Too lazy to do it now :P

Alexander Nicholi March 6th, 2015 4:12 AM

I guess it's useful getting buzzed for notifications with how it's used on LTT, and they have IP.Board... like, I want to have a notification whenever anyone replies to my mega thread because it's feedback. If it's positive I'll leave a like.

I think the notifications bar up there would seem a lot less barren if we had a system set up like that, IMO

I think the notifications bar up there would seem a lot less barren if we had a system set up like that, IMO

Mine would overflow... I already get enough notifications 8) each of us have our own preferences, of course.

I just finished playing a Chinese MMO called Age of Wushu, and I decided to search for some Chinese music. Found this masterpiece :D

The most interesting thing about ethnic music from times past (think above, and Ancient Egypt etc) is that they are based in the instrument families of the middle ages which didn't exist during the actual time periods

also I just realized that someone probably said something unwary and it totally went through my dense head as I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary at all

I'm a bit out of it though atm, back and forth between bed and PC... I was nauseated from dehydration too. and we don't have any food.

Rika, I'm trying to picture some sort of hybrid system with that..

As in, somebody came in/interrupted? That's actually good, becuase it often relieves the stress of the interview and gives you some time to assess what exactly you're gonna say.

No, as in the manager took advantage of my submissiveness to belittle me personally and play head games with the questions that you'd basically have to already know him to know what he wants to hear

Never again, fast food industry. And that place was still better than the McDonald's. There was a lot of oppressive shit going on at the McD's that I wanted out of.

The annoying thing about where I live is that nobody will accept you if you don't have a university degree, nobody's gonna hire you (unless you personally know the employer beforehand). Interns are mostly college students, rarely ever high school students.

Alexander Nicholi March 6th, 2015 5:01 AM

In Singapore, you have to have an Associate's to be a sales associate, lol. You talk about a high power curve, heh

I'm thinking about what I'm going to do for money given my family probably won't be sticking around very long after I stop tolerating them

Ice March 6th, 2015 5:06 AM

Well, if it's a high end job, of course they're gonna want you to have a university degree. The problem we have here is that most companies want students that do Atheneum, which is the highest form of middle and high school education in the Netherland, because they are very likely to leave when they become 18. From then on they can do better jobs and are probably moving to a university.

Alexander Nicholi March 6th, 2015 5:25 AM

All this talk about careers and money and school has me thinking about how much I've just raised myself...

I have no high school, no stability after 18, and no one that shows they're there for me

I'm just supposed to "make it" by going to community college with ??? living funds while breaking hell to ensure I don't lose my medication, then score some ???? job in IT that had my family cared I'd be working right now.... lol

moon March 6th, 2015 6:10 AM

It all depends on the job. What I aim to do, people without a college degree (in the right field) can't do simply because they won't know how (or why) to do the things I'd do.

Chikara March 6th, 2015 7:08 AM

I got promoted during my interview at my current job(they offered me a better job than the one I applied for). Cover letter, cover letter, cover letter. Resume, resume, resume, guys. Let the paper speak for you. Embellish. Interviewers love that shit.
