i miss the osbournes that was such a good show

Meganium March 8th, 2015 7:20 PM

omg the osbournes were awesomesauce back then. I miss them too.

Hikamaru March 8th, 2015 7:24 PM

I feel like the only reason I never like The Osbournes is because of my mother liking them. I'm also not happy that she always slams my musical taste, claiming it's "annoying". I know that my main taste (which is mainly indie stuff) is not terrible at all, and I love stuff that is underrated, and I'm a heavy supporter of the underground musical scene.

My mother is nothing but trapped in her own generation, as far as I know. It was also her birthday back on the 8th and well, we were lazy and left her without any cake or presents, because she's so boring.

Sonata March 8th, 2015 8:21 PM

I get slammed a lot in my family for my taste in music. "Are you listening to Satan again?" "No I'm listening to country and I was just listening to some Christian metal." "Whaaa? Screaming can't have meaning behind it."

Family get togethers are always such fun.

I don't think I've ever heard of those bands...

I don't think I could give many specific bands since I tend to listen off the radio and not actual albums, but two I could probably list off for certain are Avantasia (even if that's less a band and more just a group project) and Sabaton. Especially the former, since that was my first taste of any kind of metal that I actually liked. The latter's just interesting because war history metal, come on.

And this is why I prefer power/symphonic metal, honestly. Or at least heavy metal that tends to lean towards those trends as well.

Nothing against heavy metal, I like it myself in some doses--

Funny enough, as I'm typing this, an Ozzy Osbourne song on my list just came up. Hah.

Tsutarja March 8th, 2015 8:25 PM

Funny how you guys are talking about the Osbournes and just a few minutes ago the DJ on the radio station I have on now was talking about Ozzy and Sharon's daughter Kelly. :P

Livewire March 8th, 2015 9:13 PM

I love me some old Black Sabbath and Dio, buuuuut even still, Ozzy Osbourne is still flat-out batshit (or bat head, hohoho) crazy.

Universe March 8th, 2015 9:22 PM

man, i suddenly feel so ashamed for not really knowing much about Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne. :(

Kyoe March 8th, 2015 9:41 PM

The Beatles and the Stones can be compared with a single statement.
The Beatles want to give you a hug, the Stones want to touch you in other places. That said, both Doom and Gloom, and Hey Jude were songs that I learned rather promptly after getting a guitar.

The Spice Girls were terrible. Iconic Brit music for me would definitely have to be the Pistols.

As for Ozzy and Sabbath, I liked Sabbath, but never had much interest in Ozzy as a solo artist. I listen to more Iron Maiden or Alice Cooper usually, to be honest. And that's not even mentioning the music legends that were Metallica, or Pantera.

I really don't like metal. There a couple exceptions, but in general I don't like it. Which is hard to deal with for my friends because they think posthardcore is metal, so they don't know what kind of music I like.

Starry Windy March 8th, 2015 10:53 PM

I guess some of the teens are into rock or metal these days, even though sometimes I prefer other stuffs like classic or some upbeat genre. And several of the popular songs in my country, are the songs that have love lyrics in it and probably of Dangdut genre.

Foxrally March 9th, 2015 12:44 AM

I used to go to a Plug.dj channel (for those who don't know, Plug.dj is sort of a public jukebox website) which played really nice music, but every 10-15 minutes this one guy who was just REALLY into screamer music (the one with the dudes yelling) would put the same song on. That's where I got my dislike for this kind of music.

Ice March 9th, 2015 1:15 AM

For me it really depends on what kind of screaming. I'm not into the whole metal grunting thing, and the screamo way of screaming isn't something I like either. But the powerfull higher screaming in a lot of post-hardcore I love. The band letlive. has some great screams. I like them to be a bit high, so there is a contrast to the low guitars and power chords. And if the screams are low, I want to hear some higher guitars. It really spices things up.

Sonata March 9th, 2015 1:30 AM

Most of the music I listen to I listen to for what the instruments are doing. That's what got me into metal. I couldn't understand a thing they were saying when I started but the way they sounded was just glorious. That glorious double pedal, insane rip your face off guitar solos, going to concerts and being right next to the speaker and feeling the bass vibrate throughout your whole body. This is why metal is my number one.

Sonata March 9th, 2015 1:49 AM

Years of listening to music way too loud has already put me on the path to being deaf at 40.

Ice March 9th, 2015 1:50 AM

I like being close to the stage so you can catch there plectrums and sweat, and that is where the mosh pits start. Or close to the sound guy so you have a good quality in sound. Next to the speakers seem to be the worst place to be. Those things make the beer jump out of your cups, and make you deaf.

Sonata March 9th, 2015 1:54 AM

I've never enjoyed being right in front of the musicians. All the fatties that are trying to crowd surf usually get dropped on you there. And I don't like having sweaty dude all over me. Mosh pits are good though, they're more in the middle than anywhere else though.

Ice March 9th, 2015 1:54 AM

Wear earplugs if you go regularly. Otherwise you'll sustain permanent damage. I mean, everyone on and back stage does it too, so why shouldn't you?

Sonata March 9th, 2015 1:57 AM

Earplugs are for bitches. You don't get the full effect if you plug your ears. Let me just pay 50~200 dollars to buy a ticket for this badass concert so I can plug my ears and complain for 2 hours that it's too loud and then leave halfway through because my head hurts.

Foxrally March 9th, 2015 1:59 AM

My brother watches most movies with his hands over his ears. Movie theater speakers can be REAAALLLYY loud during action scenes in movies (I'm looking at you Hoobit the Battle of Five Armies)

If you wear earplugs and complain that it's too loud, than you aren't wearing good earplugs.

El Héroe Oscuro March 9th, 2015 2:25 AM

Or, you know, you might just have extremely sensitive hearing.

Alexander Nicholi March 9th, 2015 2:29 AM

I have hypersensitive hearing and my father's lawnmowing earplugs did me fine at a punk rock concert a few years ago

Nakala Pri March 9th, 2015 3:27 AM

My ears are so sensitive someone from China coughed and I got admitted to a hospital.

XD

I went to the movies ONCE in my lifetime and it was to watch Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and I lost 30% of my hearing thanks to those MASSIVE speakers. If I wore headphones, I would be a dead doodoo. *gets all wistful*

Mark Kamill March 9th, 2015 3:28 AM

I'm deaf, too many loud sounds in my daily life.

I don't know if I would call that a first-world problem, but more that you may be a tad indifferent in the idea of changing your profile design on PC. Like you said, you should just experiment with it and if you don't like it then you can always change back! That's what I usually do anyways.

I get you. I usually save a draft screenshot of the codes which I do when I revamped my profile. One thing I'm very OCD with is color coordination because I don't like eyesores.

Sylphiel March 9th, 2015 10:15 AM

I would offer some advice about changing profile colors, but uh, then I realize I haven't changed my profile in years. Yeeeears.

And if I remember correctly I probably did a lot of color matching beforehand to get it just right as well. :X Or a lot of color tweaking afterwards.

El Héroe Oscuro March 9th, 2015 10:19 AM

Kill la Kill is my background and it's too dope for me to change. My profile picture on the other hand I change regularly depending on my theme.

Sonata March 9th, 2015 10:20 AM

I don't do anything extravagant with my profile. I match black to black. And then put in a comic. Bingo bango.

Ice March 9th, 2015 10:24 AM

It actually doesn't look too bad to me. Mine on the other hand took a lot of trial-and-error to get right, but I'm happy with it.

Either yours is very, very boring, or doesn't load properly for me.

Sylphiel March 9th, 2015 10:42 AM

There's actually some meaning behind the colors I chose for mine.
...Even if the meaning is just that those happen to make one of my favorite matching color schemes of all time.

Although I should probably choose an interesting profile picture sometime, I was using various pics of my plush owls for those but ehh. Need something different.

Meganium March 9th, 2015 12:26 PM

My profile theme is awesome enough that I never want to change it. :D

Universe March 9th, 2015 12:30 PM

i think i'm pretty satisfied with my profile, too!

i just color-coordinated it, which looks pretty decent on it's own.. though i feel like i need to add a background or something. it just feels plain, but other than that. :P

Tsutarja March 9th, 2015 12:37 PM

I'll be honest, but it was a bitch designing my current profile. Although it's been the same for 1½ years now, I'd still prefer not to change it.

Yukari March 9th, 2015 12:46 PM

I've been thinking about changing My profile since I'm starting to get tired of it.

Belldandy March 9th, 2015 12:55 PM

I changed my theme - signature, blog, profile, avatar - every six months or so :pink_tongue: sometimes more. I really just change the background image on my profile and alter the colours, though. Pretty simple.

Pendraflare March 9th, 2015 1:38 PM

I can never thing of anything to adjust my profile with, so i'm just stuck with the boring basic colors when people click on my name. )x

Emboar March 9th, 2015 1:47 PM

I changed my profile back to the default because I hadn't seen what my profile looked like without customizations since the day I joined. And I got kind of bored of seeing the dark colors.

blue March 9th, 2015 2:52 PM

My profile changes slightly every now and then, it's not something I really make an effort with.

Same here. I saw Jurassic Park and The Shining as a small child too, and holy crap, I didn't sleep for a week.

Sylphiel March 9th, 2015 9:00 PM

I never got to watch any potentially "scary" movies as a kid, my parents would always refuse to let me do so. X| Sigh. Nothing PG-13 until I was actually close to the age of 13, bah!

I do wonder how I would have reacted to such movies if I had, considering I don't scare too easily by now.

Livewire March 9th, 2015 9:01 PM

I also like Prometheus too - not as good as the original Alien/Aliens but it was a great way to re-start that franchise with an original work. Plus I thought the premise (the ancient maps and cave drawings showing alien contact & leading to the engineer's basecamp) was really cool.

The only thing that really bothers me about Prometheus is how Charlize Theron was incapable of running sideways, or even diagonally. Like... get it together, Vickers. There were other little things that continue to nag at me, but that's the only aspect that pisses me off. Otherwise, I was satisfied. Hopefully the sequel/prequel (whatever) will learn from the mistakes that were made and give us the film we've been waiting for since Aliens.
