How do you get a promotion when you're not even working there? o_O

Did they tell you why?

Chikara March 6th, 2015 7:14 AM

Because I was over qualified for the position I applied for. They basically called me knowing that I would be hired for that at least, but interviewed me for a better job instead.

Sirfetch’d March 6th, 2015 7:20 AM

Oh well congrats on the promotion! I have a job interview this week as well for a local electronics and video games store. My last one went well though so I'm hoping this one will too.

Alexander Nicholi March 6th, 2015 7:23 AM

I'd love to keep an open mind, Chikara. Won't you retell?

Chikara March 6th, 2015 7:47 AM

You'll have to watch DURARARA to hear that story, Alex ;0

Congrats! :D The closest I got to an interview was when I applied for senior prefect at my school and got interviewed by the heads of the school - I got the position but god damn interviews are difficult to handle. Luckily your interviewer liked yours!

Nick March 6th, 2015 11:25 AM

In my interview for my current job, I asked my current manager if he knew where Utah was.

Ooh good luck! I really hope you get it. I got an email back from a potential employer saying they were impressed with my qualifications and to resend my resume in sequential format along with a possible start date aha. So hopefully I'll hear back from them soon and get an interview scheduled.

Oh yeah? Haha, how did he react to that?

Utah is...home of Mormonism right? What else is the state known for?

there are signs in the Salt Lake City airport that detail what to do to ensure you don't die when confronted by a grizzly bear. that means it's not uncommon. that kind of says a lot about Utah doesn't it

Because if not... there should be

I can tell you we do have dangerous creatures, but they're mainly a concern if you're in like the middle of the country with all that red deserty-ness. Not so much if you're in the major cities like where I am.

In fact I often see jokes here about the "go back to where you came from" thing that it's just unbelievable.

Ice March 6th, 2015 12:30 PM

Australia is way to big to be just desert. We could have do so much with all that land.

Universe March 6th, 2015 12:34 PM

i am kind of skittish when it comes to large bodies of water, but i'll be damned if i don't toss myself into the Coral Sea to check out the reefs.

i have always wanted to visit Australia just for that. *^*

Oh wow, you should definitely come here one day. I do feel kinda pissed that I live in the most expensive of the capital cities though, but at the same time it's got the most iconic landmarks of the capitals.

We are smaller than you think, but there's still sizable amounts of urban land so you could always focus more on that as opposed to the desert.

The water is the thing you need to enjoy here. In fact many flock over to the watery areas in the summer.

Pendraflare March 6th, 2015 1:20 PM

New thread? Whoa, only just noticed.

Too bad i've never even left the US, because most of my folks have.

Sylphiel March 6th, 2015 2:33 PM

I have a good friend who would like nothing more than to leave Australia and live in the US. :X

I keep joking with him that "do it, at least the spiders here won't try to eat you."

Bellsprout March 6th, 2015 2:46 PM

I never really got to sight see in Utah, but I had a layover there and flying over was so beautiful and the view from the airport was incredible too.

Also I had an interview yesterday and the more I think about it the more I really don't know how well I did loooool

I know it goes without saying, but try to not think about it as much. Trust me when I say everyone starts to nitpick at how they did after an interview (hell that happened to me way to many times to count.) There's no real reason to stress yourself over it; if anything, use this as a learning opportunity to not make the same mistakes twice!

Though you won't have any mistakes to learn from as you'll land this job (:
