i miss the osbournes that was such a good show

Meganium March 8th, 2015 7:20 PM

omg the osbournes were awesomesauce back then. I miss them too.

Hikamaru March 8th, 2015 7:24 PM

I feel like the only reason I never like The Osbournes is because of my mother liking them. I'm also not happy that she always slams my musical taste, claiming it's "annoying". I know that my main taste (which is mainly indie stuff) is not terrible at all, and I love stuff that is underrated, and I'm a heavy supporter of the underground musical scene.

My mother is nothing but trapped in her own generation, as far as I know. It was also her birthday back on the 8th and well, we were lazy and left her without any cake or presents, because she's so boring.

Sonata March 8th, 2015 8:21 PM

I get slammed a lot in my family for my taste in music. "Are you listening to Satan again?" "No I'm listening to country and I was just listening to some Christian metal." "Whaaa? Screaming can't have meaning behind it."

Family get togethers are always such fun.

(guys if you've never heard any of these three before and you hate cursing and/or touchy subject matter do NOT Google their music. |D)

I don't think I've ever heard of those bands...

I don't think I could give many specific bands since I tend to listen off the radio and not actual albums, but two I could probably list off for certain are Avantasia (even if that's less a band and more just a group project) and Sabaton. Especially the former, since that was my first taste of any kind of metal that I actually liked. The latter's just interesting because war history metal, come on.

I always call heavy metal music... nothing but just ear-splitting screaming.

And this is why I prefer power/symphonic metal, honestly. Or at least heavy metal that tends to lean towards those trends as well.

Nothing against heavy metal, I like it myself in some doses--

Funny enough, as I'm typing this, an Ozzy Osbourne song on my list just came up. Hah.

Tsutarja March 8th, 2015 8:25 PM

Funny how you guys are talking about the Osbournes and just a few minutes ago the DJ on the radio station I have on now was talking about Ozzy and Sharon's daughter Kelly. :P

Her March 8th, 2015 9:12 PM

not that old compared to like 30% of the forum memberbase like honestly

Livewire March 8th, 2015 9:13 PM

I love me some old Black Sabbath and Dio, buuuuut even still, Ozzy Osbourne is still flat-out batshit (or bat head, hohoho) crazy.

Universe March 8th, 2015 9:22 PM

man, i suddenly feel so ashamed for not really knowing much about Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne. :(

Kyoe March 8th, 2015 9:41 PM

The Beatles and the Stones can be compared with a single statement.
The Beatles want to give you a hug, the Stones want to touch you in other places. That said, both Doom and Gloom, and Hey Jude were songs that I learned rather promptly after getting a guitar.

The Spice Girls were terrible. Iconic Brit music for me would definitely have to be the Pistols.

As for Ozzy and Sabbath, I liked Sabbath, but never had much interest in Ozzy as a solo artist. I listen to more Iron Maiden or Alice Cooper usually, to be honest. And that's not even mentioning the music legends that were Metallica, or Pantera.

Ice March 8th, 2015 10:12 PM

I really don't like metal. There a couple exceptions, but in general I don't like it. Which is hard to deal with for my friends because they think posthardcore is metal, so they don't know what kind of music I like.

I guess some of the teens are into rock or metal these days, even though sometimes I prefer other stuffs like classic or some upbeat genre. And several of the popular songs in my country, are the songs that have love lyrics in it and probably of Dangdut genre.

Foxrally March 9th, 2015 12:44 AM

I used to go to a Plug.dj channel (for those who don't know, Plug.dj is sort of a public jukebox website) which played really nice music, but every 10-15 minutes this one guy who was just REALLY into screamer music (the one with the dudes yelling) would put the same song on. That's where I got my dislike for this kind of music.

Ice March 9th, 2015 1:15 AM

For me it really depends on what kind of screaming. I'm not into the whole metal grunting thing, and the screamo way of screaming isn't something I like either. But the powerfull higher screaming in a lot of post-hardcore I love. The band letlive. has some great screams. I like them to be a bit high, so there is a contrast to the low guitars and power chords. And if the screams are low, I want to hear some higher guitars. It really spices things up.

Sonata March 9th, 2015 1:30 AM

Most of the music I listen to I listen to for what the instruments are doing. That's what got me into metal. I couldn't understand a thing they were saying when I started but the way they sounded was just glorious. That glorious double pedal, insane rip your face off guitar solos, going to concerts and being right next to the speaker and feeling the bass vibrate throughout your whole body. This is why metal is my number one.

Sonata March 9th, 2015 1:49 AM

Years of listening to music way too loud has already put me on the path to being deaf at 40.

Ice March 9th, 2015 1:50 AM

I like being close to the stage so you can catch there plectrums and sweat, and that is where the mosh pits start. Or close to the sound guy so you have a good quality in sound. Next to the speakers seem to be the worst place to be. Those things make the beer jump out of your cups, and make you deaf.

Sonata March 9th, 2015 1:54 AM

I've never enjoyed being right in front of the musicians. All the fatties that are trying to crowd surf usually get dropped on you there. And I don't like having sweaty dude all over me. Mosh pits are good though, they're more in the middle than anywhere else though.

Ice March 9th, 2015 1:54 AM

Wear earplugs if you go regularly. Otherwise you'll sustain permanent damage. I mean, everyone on and back stage does it too, so why shouldn't you?

Sonata March 9th, 2015 1:57 AM

Earplugs are for bitches. You don't get the full effect if you plug your ears. Let me just pay 50~200 dollars to buy a ticket for this badass concert so I can plug my ears and complain for 2 hours that it's too loud and then leave halfway through because my head hurts.
