Team Four Star (Dragon Ball Z abridged)
DBZA is a non-profit fan based parody series of Dragon Ball Z by Team Four Star. It follows the series plot and stays faithful to the show, all while generally being hilarious and having interesting characterizations. It is arguably the best way to watch DBZ and for the love of kami watch it if you haven't. (The first few episodes are rough. It gets really good around episode 7 and peaks during the Frieza saga)
So basically this is a discussion of the show. Favourite characters? Quotes? Scenes? Episodes? Anything really. Use your kaioken and go wild. (Kaio-wha?) Some notable scenes: My son, the planet, or me? Quick, Zarbon, grab my balls! Vegeta...I can fly I AM THE HYPE If this shit goes any further south we're going to hit space Mexico I swear to god I will kick YOU in the dick |
I'm not a massive Dragon Ball fan but I prefer the real show.
|
I absolutely love that show to bits. i don't remember where I stopped, but that show is hilariously funny, all the while staying true to the original anime.
|
Nappa is literally the best character in the Abridged version, haha.
On a side note, how much involvement does LittleKuriboh (the guy who made YGOTAS) have with this series? |
I love the TFS guys! I'm a big fan of the manga and some of the extended fight scenes in the anime, but Team Four Star's take on the series is so fun to watch. I enjoy watching anything involving Vegeta, especially the one part where his rage 'broke'. Good stuff. Their 'Kai' episodes are also brilliant.
I'd love to see them dub the Broly movies and /maybe/ the Buu Saga, but if they want to call it quits after the Cell saga, that's fine with me. Certainly raised the bar for parodies, alongside LK's Yugioh Abridged. Oh, and their Hellsing Abridge series is pretty epic too! |

And as a Frieza fan in the original series, he completely nailed the character. By far my favourite in the abrdiged series too, and LittleKuriboh is a big reason why. On a side note I actually like how TFS captured Frieza's character much better than the original dub did. :lol (Although Kai Frieza is great and in character) |
I much prefer TFS's version of the dragonball series over the official release.
Favorite characters would have to be Nappa, Frieza and Cell. Cell's introduction was fantastic. Favorite quotes would be just about anything Nappa says, Krillen's space duck scenes, Mr popo is pretty great and the few episodes with Super Kami Guru were pretty great. Upset that they've been putting off coming out with the next episode for so long, but their gaming stuff is pretty alright too, and I'm not doing any of the work so I can't complain. |
I always found this song pretty hilarious, especially from 2:02 to 2:35 where Nappa and Vegeta have their own little duet. xD
Spoiler: TFS Parody: Make A Man Out Of You
|
I didn't think their Frozen parody was the worst either. It was actually pretty good for being a frozen parody.

...Okay, after checking it out, it was disturbingly good, but not even in the way I expected it to be, haha. |
"I am hilarious, and you will quote everything I say."

History of Trunks just came out (finally). Have any of you watched it yet? What did you guys think about it?

*Runs to Youtube* EDIT: Whelp, just watched it. It wasn't bad, especially considering what they had to work with (which is practically devoid of any campy or happy material at all). It had some pretty clever jokes, though ironically the one thing that got me more than anything else was "Dibs". |
It was alright. The ending was pretty funny.
|
The dibs part was about the best thing about the whole episode. Either that or everything between Gohan losing his arm and losing the rest of his body.
|
I wish they would spend more time working on actual episodes rather than movie specials or starting other abridged series.
|
^ Yeah! They seem to have just started the Cell Saga many months ago.

On that note, if this is really in line with the chronology, Broly's next. I'm interested to see what they'll do with that one. |

The Trunks Special was pretty good, honestly. I liked that they kept a few, but not too many, serious moments in it. Spoiler:
|
Well worth the wait, I really enjoyed this one. Between Bulma being on fire, a very enjoyable Future Gohan and the amazing callbacks (who caught Vegeta's scream from this scene?) I think it's one of their best work yet.

The Return of Cooler's Revenge had some of my favourite exchanges. |

This is better. |
Liked the Trunks Special. Agreed, the specials are good. Though I still want more Cell Saga.
|
New episode's up, and it's a pretty fun one. Lots of laughs this time around, and there was some really solid writing- not even in the way of comedy, it just has really solid writing that even manages to be chilling at points.
Oh, and freeze frame. I couldn't stop laughing. |
Yeah it speaks volume about how good the writing has gotten that the episode managed to be incredibly good without the series' usual jokes. Granted most of it is because of the lack of the usual gag characters, so I imagine the series is gonna hit with the jokes at full force when Super Vegeta arrives.
Quality episode and it really shows why TFS are a talented bunch. Android 16 was on POINT. |
