15.
I don't really know. Both have nice designs. But if I had to choose, I'd go with Vileplume for the Grass/Poison type. Too bad Bellossom didn't gain the Fairy typing. |
16
I prefer the design of Bellossom, but overall I'd say Vileplume. I actually used Vileplume in Fire Red and found it really useful throughout! |
17.
Bellossom may look nicer and all, but Vileplume seems cooler and has a more interesting design in my eyes. |
18.
Both Vileplume and Bellossom are cute in my opinion. |
19.
Back when I was a kid, I never knew Bellossom existed until I watched Pikachu's Rescue Adventure... Ooh, this calls for another topic: Have you seen any of the Pikachu shorts? If so, which one was your favorite? |
20
And Vileplume's saved! Apparently it isn't an oversized mushroom but a flower of some sort, I'm good. :( @Revise: I'm guessing you mean the specials they play before the pokemon movies? I don't remember watching Pikachu's Rescue adventure but I did watch Pikachu's Vacation as a prequel to the first movie. I like the whole goofiness of it all and Charizard getting his head stuck in a pipe is still one of my favourite moments of the show. How does anyone not love it? :] |
Now is Paras turn
9. I never used a paras. |
10. ninja'd
@Aslan Yep, those are the ones! And yeah, I remember Pikachu's Vacation. The theme song for that special was sooo catchy. xD |
11.
If that's the one I'm thinking of, then that was definitely catchy. I'll have to look it up now! Edit: I just looked it up, and I remember watching that one so many times! |
12
Love Paras! Parasect has always been a little creepy due to being taken over by parasites buy they're both adorable regardless. :] I don't actually remember the soundtrack for Vacation! Which one was it? I'm only good at remembering the opening themes / soundtracks like Unbeatable and the Pokemon Rap. :p |
13
To be honest I couldn't remember any of it until re-hearing it just now. This is actually the full episode. |
14.
And here's the full version of the opening song, if anyone's interested: |
13
Really not a fan of Paras! Too many bad memories of Spore happening while I was Clefairy-hunting in Mt. Moon. The soundtrack to the first Pokemon movie takes me back to my youth. It was full of random songs by former pop stars who have fallen off the face of the planet. But they sang some catchy songs for that movie! |
14. Sorry to disappoint you guys, but we're actually on Gloom right now!
@Astinus Yep, pretty much, though I think the same can be said about the second movie's soundtrack! |
13
WOOPS Gloom's name is definitely fitting. It looks so sad and the drool coming out of its mouth aa. I love Oddish and Vileplume but the middle evolution was just a little too depressing for my liking honestly. :( |
14.
I honestly have no comment on Gloom... like, at all. So I'll just give it the benefit of doubt and upvote it. Regarding the Pikachu shorts, I loved each and every one of them, but my top favorite(s) would have to be a tie between Gotta Dance!! and Pikachu's PikaBoo. The evil lawn mower will always be my favorite antagonist of all time. <3 http://i.imgur.com/83zZoxA.png |
13
An evil lawnmower sounds like something Team Rocket would come up with honestly! Which special did it appear in? Speaking of inanimate objects, I remember in the Deoxys' movie that Deoxys lifted a hot dog machine and threw it. I'd never been more sad in my life. :( |
14.
The "evil" lawnmower was from Pikachu's PikaBoo, hahaha. Apparently, it only malfunctioned because both Larvitar and Meowth kicked a rock at it. xD And yeah, I remember that scene from Destiny Deoxys. xD I honestly thought for second that Deoxys was actually gonna kidnap it, haha. |
15
Lol poor Paras! I love Gloom so he's going up for me too :D |
16.
How dare you not talk about Pikachu shorts! =( Just kidding. At least Gloom seems to have gotten a lucky handicap. xD |
17
Gloom's not bad. Its branched evolutions are decent. :3 |
18.
So which Gym Leaders did you guys feel were forgettable? For me, I'd have to say Olympia. I absolutely loved X/Y, yet I had no clue who she was until I looked her up just now. (And I still don't recall battling her, even though I've beaten the game. xD) |
19
Whoa, the topics change so fast here, I missed some entirely. I don't know a forgettable Gym Leader at the top of my head (I mean, then I haven't really forgotten it, right?) I think the ones half way through the game who are not really involved in the story (just standing and waiting for a battle) have a good chance of this. |
20
And next up is Vileplume! Quote:
Quote:
Also about the whole 'not involved in the storyline' idea, I think gym leaders in general only act as an obstacle to the league and play maybe minor parts outside of that. Really wish they did try and make them more important though. |
11
The Gym Leaders that are fought early on, and those that are easy to take down. Having said that practically every Kalos leader was easy to take down, the only memorable ones from that Region are Korrina, Viola and Clemont. |
12
Out of all the gym leaders in X/Y, I only remember Clemont and Korrina and none from the E4. Maybe it's because I haven't played the game in ages but I come across a lot of sixth gen pokemon and go 'whoa what's this?'. Guess I don't know the gen that well haha. :( |
13
YAY LOVE VILEPLUME ETC <3 I don't even remember who Korrina is after reading your post! Clemont I think was the Electric-gym...? And I honestly can't name another paha. Thinking back to XY I can hardly name any of those either - Homika/Roxie, Marlon, Cilan/Chili/Cress, Lenora, Skyla, Drayden/Iris... nope I'm stuck .-. |
12
Not a fan of Vileplume even though it was in one of my favorite Orange Island episodes! Squirrel, I love the fact that you said "thinking back to X/Y" to name the Gym Leaders...then you start naming the B/W Gym Leaders. And Roxie wasn't a Unova Gym Leader. She's from Hoenn. A lot of X/Y Gym Leaders are forgettable to me. Part of it might have been because I only played through Y once. Another part could be because they didn't really do much in the grand scheme of the story, unlike other Gym Leaders of other regions. |
13.
I think you mean Roxanne is from Hoenn! Unless you were cracking a joke with Squirrel? xD |
12
Oh. I guess that's what I get for typing a post that size really fast. I didn't have time to think things over. I'll leave it up to immortalize the occasion! |
13.
Don't worry about it, haha. As for the topic, I agree with mostly everyone else that many of the X/Y Gym Leaders were forgettable, even if I indeed loved the game. Heck, I keep forgetting that Citron's dub name is Clemont, and that's because I know him a lot better for his anime counterpart. |
14
Didn't even realise that Clemont went by a different name! His name in the games is already fitting enough though he could also be an Arnold or Isaac. Also how different do you guys think gyms would be if gym leaders didn't specialise in one type? I think it could allow for a lot more strategy though I'm not sure if it'd be a good idea or not. |
15.
I honestly think Cheren would make the perfect multi-type Gym Leader. Unfortunately, Game Freak thought otherwise... |
16
Well, I think they have tested it out back then in Diamond and Pearl, iirc, when they specialize in giving any Pokémon the move that is related to the Gym Leader's type instead of using Pokémon related to the type at some point, and that's quite a bit odd. Platinum did change the Gym Leader system back to its roots, tho. |
17 I missed out on so many pokemon + you discarded Clefairy..... :c I should have been more active!
I like that most gym have only have one type, The gyms are designed nicely after the type and you can see a few (new) pokemon of the same type. I know it can be easy if you have one pokemon that is super effective against the other. |
18
@ Windy: I forgot completely about the fiasco that was Flint in D/P. I think it was maibly due to the lack of fire types in Sinnoh but his team was certainly strange. As Precious said though, gyms and E4 are good for showing off the new pokemon introduched each generation which they did pretty well! Also just a thought - what if you could go back and battle the older professors like Oak, Elm etc? You'd think they would have good teams based on all the fieldwork they do and I think a battle with Oak was even gonna be a thing in the original games. It'd be cool to battle professors other than Sycamore though. :] |
19
Since when do the professors fieldwork? They just sit in the lab and let ten year old kids do the work for them. |
20
Vileplume is saved! :D Next up: Paras! I think battling professors would be a great idea! I imagine they'd be a good challenge to look forward to after defeating the Pokemon League. |
11.
Professor Sycamore was a nice start to battling professors. |
12.
Sadly, I remember very little about X/Y. :( It's not the most memorable game. |
13
X/Y seems to be rather forgettable in comparison to the likes of DPPT. They're fun games for sure, but there's a lot that could be forgotton. |
14.
Pokemon X and Y introduced some great Pokemon, like Greninja, Talonflame, Tyrantrum, and more. I also loved the big regional dex. |
15
Paras is a cool Pokémon, very cute and I love the whole "zombie" theme the line has haha. |
16
Not to forget the move Spore, which can be extremely strong. |
17
The Paras line is probably my favourite from Gen I, only problem is the low stats and weaknesses. |
18
Does anyone else find the whole zombie fungus thing creepy? XD |
19
YES I think it's terrifying that a cute little hermit crab basically becomes soulless as it evolves. And while it's not its fault for being infected by parasites, it's still awful to think about. :( Parasect does actually look good though! I'm just not sure how I feel about what happened to it haha. |
20.
Wasn't Professor Oak originally programed as an unused Trainer in Generation I? It could've been a rumor, but I honestly have no clue. (I even heard that Mew was on his team!) |
11 - Parasect up now!
You're right. In RBY there is an unused trainer slot specifically for Oak, his team is something like Exeggutor, Tauros, Arcanine, Gyarados and the fully evolved starter that was left behind. |
12
I think there's a glitch in Yellow that the trainer can perform to access the battle with Oak! Don't remember what it involves but I did end up having one playthrough of Yellow where I attempted stuff like Glitch City, Missingno, lvl 100 Nidoking before the first gym... it's amazing that people can uncover all this. So does anyone here glitch their game or have any favourite glitches? First gen ones are the most hilarious though I've also managed to stuff up 4th gen. :] |
13.
As interesting as they are to read about, I've never actually glitched a game for myself. Heck, I think my favorite glitch would have to be the Professor Oak battle you just mentioned. Maybe I should really try that out sometime, haha. |
14
There's tons of glitches to experiment with in Yellow or R/B so I suggest trying some of them out alongside Professor Oak! I think there's a series on Youtube and some of the stuff he pulls off is insane. Anyway speaking of Yellow, would anyone here ever like to see a remake for the game? If so, how different do you think it'd be to the original? |
15.
Yeah, it would definitely be a good idea to watch it on YouTube before attempting it, haha. As for a Yellow remake, of course I would love to see one, haha. (Then again, this is coming from the person who failed miserably at remaking Yellow Version seven years ago... xD) I'd imagine it to be an updated engine of Generation VI, but with the walking Pokémon feature from HG/SS. |
16
It's interesting because somehow people always manage to find glitches in the games no matter how old/new they are. I'm pretty sure there are a couple of glitches from X/Y & ORAS too. |
17.
Unfortunately, Nintendo now has the power to ruin the fun with patching. =/ But then again, the Lumiose City saving bug was really bad, so I guess we should be grateful. |
18
Heard about the Lumiose one though I don't remember what it did. Didn't it mess up the save file if you were to save there? Yeah it's amazing the stuff you can find even in the newer gens. Was playing with the 'walk through walls' glitch and managed to get into the area with Shaymin and a place titled the 'Mystery Zone'. Also managed to run into the fourth gen equivalent of Missingno. though that broke my game. :( Still it's pretty cool! If I ever had a reason to use AR, it'd be to uncover all the cool glitches. |
19
I don't like risking a broken game so I've never played with the boundaries of the games with AR, etc. |
20
even though I don't like Paras, I will spare it, so, go to your Saved Team. |
That was Parasect already actually. Next one is Venonat!
11 I'm still holding the opinion that Venonat should have evolved into Butterfree. |
12
I like Venonat, especially the whole Venonat/Caterpie evolution theory. |
13
It's interesting seeing how many evolutions they should of done! I think Venonat -> Butterfree would of worked as well and the same goes for Shelmet -> Escavalier over Accelgor. Also they definitely missed out on a potential Luvdisc evolution with Alolomola. ;A; |
14.
At last... I have returned from despair. xD Quote:
Quote:
|
13.
I don't actually like Venonat :( |
14
Is it the eyes? I know I was creeped out by its eyes though I grew to like it after a while. Shame you don't like it though. ;A; Also nah I used R4 codes to do stuff like walking through walls and encountering whatever pokemon I wanted. Made the game a bit hectic. 8) |
13.
This reminds me when I used a randomized code for one of the Pokemon games (when I was playing either Heart Gold or BW, if I recall correctly) just for the fun, it becomes a bit hectic at times when I spotted a Legendary in the wild and whatnot. |
14.
Last time I ever used codes in a Pokémon game was back in Generation III (and I believe I was about 10 years old), where my game was utterly destroyed by an irreversible PC full of Bad Eggs. If only one good thing came out of it, it's that I certainly learned my lesson, haha. |
13.
Well, I'm reminded of the Bad Eggs in the Gen 3 as well. This makes me think that I have to use the codes that are quite safe so that the problem won't trigger again. |
14.
Is there such thing as an Action Replay for the 3DS? It's not like I would care to use it or anything, but I haven't heard of anyone who has successfully cheated in X/Y or OR/AS yet. |
15.
I haven't heard of anything of the sort. Venonat is cute I love it's voice in the anime ok |
14.
Hmm, I think I heard of Venonat's anime voice a bit, and I think it sounds quite cute too. I'm not sure if I'm fond of its design, tho. |
15.
I love Venonat and its design. I've even used one in a ROM hack named Pokemon Volt White, and it was wonderful. |
14
I dislike Bugs and Venonat makes that easy to do so. |
15.
The Venonat line is actually one of my favourite Bug type lines, because I like their designs and they're cute. Also, Venomoth has Tinted Lens and Quiver Dance. |
14
Idk design wise, it didn't click for me. Gnats don't become moths plus it really looks like Butterfree's larvae. |
13
I was going to up-vote and post a cute Venonat picture to say he's worth saving, but after Google Imaging him I'm now quite convinced he's one of the ugliest Pokémon to exist. :D |
14.
I still find Venonat cute. But then again, I also find Tangrowth, Froslass, Sableye, Sigilyph, and even Mr. Mime cute. |
13
Quote:
You sir are one brave man. |
14.
The following Mr. Mime sprites are too cute: http://victorypedia.a.wiki-site.com/images/6/6f/Spr_2g_122.png http://pldh.net/media/pokemon/gen3/frlg/122.png |
15.
Is Mr. Mime supposed to be based on any animal other than a human mime? xD |
16
Don't think so! Looks fully humanoid to me. I dunno, Mr. Mime and Venonat are both pretty creepy though I still like the latter. This however, is terrifying: asdfghjkl; WHY |
15
Pokemon: The Conjuring >_> |
16.
Mr. Mime! It's so evil! http://fi.somethingawful.com/images/smilies/emot-crying.gif It's pre-evo is downright adorable though. Why does such a cute Pokemon evolve into that?! At least Jynx looks sorta lovely. Sorta. |
17.
saying it now that mr. mime is probably going to be one of the few pokemon i'll actually count down for. i do agree with mime jr. though. especially after James had one for a bit. |
18.
Mime Jr. is pretty cute to say, as well. Mr. Mime's debut in the anime is not quite shabby, either. |
19.
Mimey is a pretty great Mr.Mime I will admit, but eh. Only Mr. Mime I like I guess. :b |
18
I remembered how Mr Mime used his screens to hinder Rocket's escape. Pretty badass use of psychic powers. |
19
I like Mr. Mime and Mime Jr. Both cool Pokémon. http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m2ogurZ76R1qj7ct2o1_500.gif |
20.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes Mr. Mime! Other Pokemon with unloved designs that I like include Rhyperior, Tangrowth, Magmortar, Seismitoad, Diggersby, Barbaracle, and Jynx. |
11. Venonat saved time for Venomoth!
Meanwhile I'm the opposite. While some of those Pokemon are okay or actually pretty neat (Tangrowth, Magmortar, and Jynx. Rhyperior too I guess) one of those Pokemon on the list is actually my least favorite Pokemon of all time. :'); |
12
Mothy is pretty cool, I always liked the design a lot and he uses interesting moves - the original Quiver Dancer ♥ Quote:
|
13.
I don't really play zombie games. That doesn't mean I don't play games that contain zombies. |
14.
Quote:
|
15
I wonder what a Zombie Pokemon would be like. No doubt some creepy pokedex entry for one. |
16.
Quote:
|
17.
Ah, I see. As for zombie Pokémon, I would be surprised if "Zombird" became a thing. xD |
18.
A zombie Pokemon with Ghost/Fighting typing would be very interesting. |
17
I love me some zombie Pokemon. They better have grayscale or monochrome palettes with blood and browns. Zombie Skitty anyone? XD |
18
A Zombie Pokémon sure does sound interesting, there are none as far as I'm aware. |
19
braaaains Undead pokemon are cool in general so I'd love to see what to do with a zombie pokemon. Would it be like its real life counterpart or a zombified animal though? I can imagine its dex entry involving brains, death and other cheerful stuff either way. Quote:
|
20.
Hmm, so Vemomoth is saved as well. And sorry folks, I'm not a big fan of zombie stuffs. And it's the 1,000th post in this thread :o |
