Even though I quite like Geodude's design and its Magnitude and Earthquake move, the Selfdestruct is one of the reason I'm not fond of it at times. I have to switch to stronger Pokémon so it can handle the blow. |
7
Remember that abilities like Scrappy exist. |
8
Scrappy? I think it's one of the useless ability that I know of, even though not worse than Defeatist that Archen lines have. |
9
I don't know why they have Defeatist, they aren't that OP, are they? I can see Truant, it makes a good balance, but then there's Klutz, what's the use of that? |
9
Yeah, I don't know why Archeops got stuck with Defeatist. It really hampers its ability to be used. |
9
I'm also not a big fan of Weak Armor. It does give a boost to speed but a lot of Pokemon with high defenses don't really benefit from lowered defense and increased speed. |
8
Speaking of Weak Armor, my friend Pendraflare is doing an item-restricted Nuzlocke (he can't buy items and has to rely on ones he picked up from the ground, even Poke Balls) and he's currently using a Trubbish. The problem is, he'll gain Weak Armor when he evolves. |
9.
I like Trubbish, but I hate Garbodor. |
10.
I also really like Trubbish, but I just don't like Garbodor's design as much as I wish I did. Like I really want to like him but I don't.. |
10
I don't see why everyone dislikes Garbodor so much. I know it's a literal pile of trash, but if you're looking that way, isn't Pidgey "just" a bird or Ekans "just" a snake? Yet there's no mass hate on those. Many of the Pokémon are based on objects or organisms from our all-day world and I'm good with that. |
11
It's not that I don't like Garbodor for what it is based off of, I just don't particularly like the way the idea was executed. |
10
If you think Garbodor is bad, wait until you watch Marriland's Black Wedlocke where a Garbodor was shoehorned onto his team (despite how much he hates the Pokemon) when Aquilavus, his Carracosta dies to a trainer on Route 10, and he had a glaring Fighting weakness on most of the team to be concerned about, and said Garbodor (named Turkey, who got paired with Chickadee the Sawsbuck) ended up being a true hero against Marshal of the Elite Four and also both N and Ghetsis, and while he died against the latter, Chickadee did manage to sweep the rest of Ghetsis' team, including OHKO'ing his Hydreigon with a critical hit Jump Kick after its Fire Blast misses. |
10
Man, I have no idea Garbodor can become that strong. I think Garbodor's design of being a pile of trash may be going too well for some, sadly... Maybe I should consider using it at some point. |
11.
I don't hate Garbodor because of its design. The reason I hate it is because it was annoying me to no end when I was training my Fraxure in Pokemon White 2. As for Marriland's Black Wedlocke, I've seen it, but it didn't change my opinion on Garbodor. |
12
I've never followed others playing a game. I find playing myself more fun than watching someone else. |
11
I seem to follow a Let's Play when I play Pokemon games sometimes, in case I missed anything. |
10. I hate Garbodor, it just a pile of trash.:(
|
9
I feel like Marriland's Black Wedlocke somehow changed my views on Garbodor. |
10
I've never taken the time to watch Let's Plays, mostly because if I'm taking the time I'd rather be playing myself, haha. As for changing views on Pokemon, I've definitely come to like some Pokemon as time as gone on either through using them or just becoming more used to their designs. Some off the top of my head are Magnezone, Parsect, Exeggutor, Wormadam, and Cradily. |
11.
I too have Pokemon that bothered me in the past, that I've warmed up to. These include Tangrowth, Liepard, and Chespin. There are also Pokemon that I once really liked, that now bother me. Pidgey and Pidgeotto come to mind here. Pidgey was really cute back in RBY and GSC, but the more I played Pokemon using VBA, the more it and Pidgeotto annoyed me with Whirlwind and Sand-Attack. It doesn't help that since RSE, we've been getting better and cuter birds, like Taillow, Starly, Drifloon, Rufflet, and Fletchling. |
10
I feel like the regional birds have been getting better with generation, particularly Starly and Fletchling. |
11
Agreed. Since Generation III the regional birds have been great, especially Talonflame being dual-typed. |
10
It's true, although people slammed Talonflame for being overpowered due to its hidden ability because that's the sole reason why it's dominant in competitive play. |
11.
Omg I just looove the regional birds! They're all too cute, okay? You'd better not make me pick between Pidgey, Taillow, Starly, and Fletchling. >:( (I like Hoothoot and Pidove too, but the other birds stand out a little more to me.) |
12.
I like a lot of the regional birds. Swellow and Staraptor are probably my favorite, followed by Pidgeot. Noctowl is cool and all but it's not as useful as the others, and I find the whole Pidove line to be kind of bland. As for Talonflame, I really like its typing I just don't particularly like its design. I like Fletchinder's design much better but I just can't get over how ugly I think Talonflame is.. But it is a very useful Pokemon to have on a team, I'll give it that. |
