Okay. I don't follow race horses either. X___x;
I hope you have fun with watching Big Brother -sighs- I hate that show. o_O;

Well, Phar Lap's heart weighed 6.2kg. But I don't know the size of it though...

I'm going back to school tomorrow! (this is un-Australian, but a thing I would like to point out)

Murpheos July 11th, 2005 3:35 AM

Oh, funny story about the Melbourne Cup. Way back like 10 years ago, me and my crew at school made a mock-bet on who would win the Cup. The horse I picked was a favourite to win, and it came second-last. Its name: Sub Zero (I picked that since I was a crazy Mortal Kombat fan, and Sub Zero rocked)

Sub Zero? It sounds familiar.... Oh well. It's a shame you had to choose the favourite. They say never to choose the favourites since most of the time they are the ones that lose.

Umm... I'm trying to think of some other Aussie things to talk about... does anyone have any ideas? ^^;

Happy Dude July 12th, 2005 1:57 AM

Anyways Aussie stuff uh,

Oh how about the water supply what are your thoughts on it.

Murpheos July 12th, 2005 3:32 AM

THe water drought is a difficult situation to interpret. There are things that could be done, but all seem to be very hard to put into practice.

Happy Dude July 13th, 2005 1:39 AM

Yeah true.

I miss the days when we could water the garden and use *cries* water slides

R.I.P
Water slides
Taken away from us so quickly

Ah, yes... the water drought. Did you know that every 3 minutes in the shower is actually using up 200 glasses of water.... wow. o__O;

Blitz~2005 July 13th, 2005 1:54 AM

o.O you mesured them

that would take ages XD

Murpheos July 13th, 2005 1:58 AM

Anyone watch that show 'Mythbusters'? Its on Monday night on SBS. That shower thingy would make a good myth for them to confirm or bust. It depends on what size glass though.

Blitz~2005 July 13th, 2005 2:01 AM

yeah i remember that show, i dont watch it much anymore

It wouldnt be that hard to figure out though

Happy Dude July 13th, 2005 3:24 AM

Oh,Mythbusters i love that show i watch it everytime.

Murpheos July 13th, 2005 4:12 AM

Okay, what would be a cool Australian myth for those cool nerds to bust? Anyone?

Blitz~2005 July 13th, 2005 4:32 AM

hmmmmm.......

how bout does the tassie tiger still exist XD (how many times have people tried to bust that one :P) but thats more of a legend.

I know they say if you where a big enough magnet whhile your playing the pokies youll get the jackpot, but i dont know if thats an aussie myth :P

Happy Dude July 13th, 2005 4:32 AM

Uh,Um.

How much beer does the average Aussie drink in a life-time.

Nah that's crap it's 10:30 at night here.

Blitz~2005 July 13th, 2005 4:36 AM

Murpheos July 13th, 2005 4:36 AM

thats not really a myth, thats just an american mistake, (not the americans again) come over here and call our koala's bears just coz their furry :P

they wouldnt like it if we called thir squiril's bears XD

Murpheos July 13th, 2005 6:24 PM

|I love telling American tourists about the 'Drop Bears'. Most of the time, they believe it.

Blitz~2005 July 14th, 2005 1:58 AM

Drop bears ?

Dont think i've heard that one, go on tell it :D

or is it just saying drop "bears" of the start of koala's?

Murpheos July 14th, 2005 2:32 AM

Actually that is probably how the story came around, but its just a myth that we spin to scare the tourists. Drop bears are giant bears that live up in trees and drop on your head out in the wild.

Carina July 14th, 2005 2:41 AM

Have you ever been asked "Do you ride kangaroos to school?"
That's happened to me a few times before. lol

STJ July 14th, 2005 2:42 AM

hehe, have to say I've never heard of 'Drop Bears'

speaking of myths, has anybody heard of the Yowie? (I hope I spelt it right)

lol, having gone to the USA just a few months ago, I have to say that Americans don't really know an awful lot about Australia..

For some reason, most of the people I talked with seemed to think that I came from England... I would just like to say that I don't have a British accent, thank you very much! :P

I don't recall anybody asking me if I rode a Kangaroo though, were they being serious, or were they joking?

Blitz~2005 July 14th, 2005 2:46 AM

lol drop bears,

everyone has heard of the Yowie :P (in australia that is) :P what about the bunyip (if i spelt it right)

(i actually forgot the name of the bunyip for a second there XD)

Murpheos July 14th, 2005 2:47 AM

They also think we all drink those giant cans of Fosters beer. Thats not true. We drink mayonaisse

Or what about the platypus? That's a big myth too, dont ya know?
