I'm enjoying it myself, but "innovation and dedicated world building" definitely don't describe the first two episodes at all.

In terms of "innovation", all they did was apply a video game decal to a classic fantasy backdrop. Interesting, but not innovative.

As for world building, I'm pretty sure they didn't watch the show.

I'm not sure if I like it or hate it.

Hate how MUH TRAUMA is handled in light novels.

I get the feeling that this show could easily be droppable, no doubt. I'd give it a few more episodes.

And, on another note, damn if it doesn't have the most spartan-ass opening I've heard in years.

But I'm hoping it'll get better, since there's not much else I'm watching this season, especially since Arslan's got one or two more episodes before it stays or leaves and Nagato is...well, Nagato. Though I guess I'm lucky that I'm following the dub of Durarara X2 which is only on episode 5, currently.

Latest DURRR season only actually had one good scene. Oh, 2 actually, fondling was a scene.

Eh, I've liked it so far. I imagine even if I didn't enjoy what was happening I'd still be into it since I enjoy the characters (well, most of them, at least).

But regardless, I also have Food Wars. Nisekoi, too, because I like that show for some reason despite it having a mostly lazy premise and Onodera being a character. Then again, I still don't really know if I actually watched the first season because I was sick in bed at the time and I couldn't move- for all I know, it was just a fever dream.

I like the characters too, certainly the reason I finished it. Was actually the only winter show I completed.

First few episodes do get more budget than the rest at most studios.

That also applies to trademark series. Still have a grudge on SHAFT for ubertrolling the Kagerou Project.

I...wouldn't say the budget had anything to do with Mekakucity Actors being bad.

Pokestick, good times. April 11th, 2015 3:09 PM

That was the first SHAFT show I dropped in a long time.

Haven't decided what to do with Koufuku Grafitti, though. I feel like any continuation would just be more of the same.
...Probably Nisekoi, too. But I'm so far into season one I might as well finish it.

I may watch season two, but...I barely survived one Onodera. Two's gonna be...

...uuuugh.

See if you can track down an abridged that at least tries to fix it

"Ever get the feeling we're in a terrible show?"

"Unfortunately..."

There's two Onodera in season two? That almost sounds interesting.

We're not ready

machomuu April 11th, 2015 3:59 PM

Indeed we are not.

252

Apparently Onodera's sister, who looks almost exactly like her older sister, joins the fray. I'm scared.

But it's a given, considering original Onodera is a popular character- which makes me sad, because it kind of perpetuates the idea that you don't have to write a 3-dimensional female character to create someone interesting to your audience.

*sigh*

Eh, yeah. And I probably wouldn't care if she wasn't so popular.

Shit has influence on other artists and anime writers, though, so I can't help but let it bother me.

I have literally no problems with silly haremshit being silly haremshit.

Regardless of genre, boring characters are boring to watch unless put into interesting or hilarious situations. Sadly, Onodera doesn't get that luxury.

Hopefully Onodera 2.0 will be better.
