What starter did you pick in OR/AS?
http://www.pkparaiso.com/imagenes/xy/sprites/animados/treecko.gifhttp://www.pkparaiso.com/imagenes/xy/sprites/animados/torchic.gifhttp://www.pkparaiso.com/imagenes/xy/sprites/animados/mudkip.gif Yay Hoenn starters! Which of these three did you choose in your playthrough of OR/AS? Have you ever used others in these remakes? Which is your favorite, both to use and design-wise? |
It's always a Hoenn tradition that I choose Mudkip as my starter and these games were no exception, and given how much I loved Mega Swampert it served even more of an incentive to choose who was always the best Hoenn starter from my perspective.
Mega Swampert did really good wonders in Alpha Sapphire, because it hits hard but can also take a hit. Plus it becomes so menacing in the rain thanks to Swift Swim. That bulk came in handy when I was trying to catch Kyogre. |
I picked Treecko because initially I picked one in my Emerald run, and I still liked it. Its draining attacks and Mega Sceptile really do wonders here. I haven't tried the others yet, though.
In my Alpha Sapphire file, I picked Torchic because it was the pokemon starter that i picked up back in Ruby, the game that re-started my love for playing pokemon games. It was a fitting way for me to complete my circle of playing pokemon games. And i simply love Torchic. Its so cute and it becomes my favorite pokemon of all time upon reaching its final evolution phase.
Treecko is the best!I picked it in my original playthrough of Sapphire and now it has a Dragon-type Mega Evolution, so I cannot resist <3
I went with Mudkip in AS and Torchic in OR.
Mudkip! I had Mudkip in my original Ruby so I couldn't resist using it in the remake. I didn't actually use its Mega Evolution (because I had Absol on my team and used its mega instead) but that doesn't matter it was amazing just the way it was just like back when I used it in Ruby. ♥
I haven't gotten the chance to use Torchic or Treecko because I need Alpha Sapphire before I replay. But I do really want to try using Treecko's mega evolution someday. |
I picked up Mudkip. I originally always picked Mudkip in Sapphire, and I felt I had to go back to old times to really get the nostalgia from the remake. Needless to say that it worked, and I adored playing through the game with Mudkip again. On my run through of OR however, I will be using Treeko, because Mega Sceptile is a boss.
In my main copy of Omega Ruby, I picked Mudkip, and it was cool as a Mega Swampert when I got to use it as that. But my newest adventure in these has me taking Torchic, who has proven to be a nice bro on more than one occasion. I have yet to go with Treecko in any real playthrough, though, but i'll have to at some point.
In pokemon Alpha Sapphire I chose Mudkip as my husband chose treeko and I have chosen torchic lots of time before.
I picked Treecko because I picked it when I first played Ruby, simple as that. I usually pick Torchic when playing Gen 3 but I thought I'd be different from usual since it is my first time playing the remakes.
Mudkip for me. And I'm glad I picked him, since Mega Swampert owns!
Before I sold Omega Ruby, I went with Treecko. I'm going to buy it again since I miss playing modern Pokemon and this time I will go with Torchic. Gotta love going fast with Blaziken's mega.
I totally went for Torchic in Omega Ruby because, well...It's kinda implied that you choose the fire starter!
Not only that, it's at the very top of the Pokedex, so I can work my way down the list staring from 001#. It's final evolution is a Fire/Fighting duel too, I always find Fighting Pokemon awesome, but you're only limited to things like Machop or Meditite (One I grow bored of, the other I despise!), any other fighting types such as Hitmonlee/Chan are found much later ingame and difficult to get. All in all, I like Torchic. It's a cute baby chicken, then grows into a fighting flame machine that's really effective ^_^ |
Torchic, which I had in the original Sapphire.
I chose Torchic for nostalgic purposes. It became the first starter I chose in ruby, and I chose it for OR. I also wanted Mega Blaziken in my team, so there's also that!
I did choose Mudkip for nostalgic reasons. I always picked Mudkip when I started a new adventure on my Sapphire cartridge and this is not exception.
Mudkip, and I haven't regretted it for a second. I run 2 Swamperts competitively, 2 for EV Training leads, and one for an HM Slave.
Swampert the Butt Hawk <3 |
I went with Mudkip for tradition and... um, possible nostalgic purposes. Plus Mega Swampert is awesome.
I picked Torchic because, well, I like it the best. Mega Blaziken is a badass.
Mudkip! Swampert is one of my favourite starters (though I'm not too fond of its mega)
usually pick fire starters for almost every pokemon game but this one i chose treecko
Played Sapphire more times than I can remember and never picked Mudkip back in the day, used to love Sceptile but I hate its mega and I had a Torchic in my X/Y file so I wasn't too interested in Torchic so I chose Mudkip for my OR play through (which is my main)
I have to stress that I love all Hoenn starters.
I picked Torchic, as my human character's 'May'. I'm pretty sure I'm going to pick Mudkip for Omega Ruby, as 'Brendan'. |
Originally, I had planned to get Alpha Sapphire and choose Torchic like I had befpre. Then I remembered that I had played with Blaziken in two different runs, Sceptile in two different runs, and had never used Swampert, despite loving Mudkip so much it was almost my original starter(of course it lost out to Torchic but still).
So I used Swampert. Mega Swampert is probably one of the best megas anyhow! XD |
torchic just like i did back in the old ruby game but i have done several restarts on my other game alpha saphire so I have choosen all at least once
Treeko, having a powerful grass type always helps. He fits right in with my Gyrados and Cosplay Pikachu.
Mudkip is my favorite of the Hoenn starters, and I don't mind its evolutions. I do like Treecko and Torchic, but I'm not a fan of their evolutions. Swampert is awesome and a good Pokemon to have on the team, so I always go with Mudkip when traveling around Hoenn.
I've chosen mudkip because I think it's the cutest. Also because I already used the event Torchic in X and Y. Why not treecko? I just don't like him. Plus mega swampert is very cool.
Well since we got Torchic in X and Y, I decided to go with Mudkip in Alpha Sapphire. I'll probably pick up Treecko in my Omega Ruby playthrough.
If I end up getting Omega Ruby, I'll go with Mudkip. (Since I have Torchic in AS already.)
I picked Treecko, just as I did in the original, simply to add to the nostalgia of my playing experience
I chose Treecko because I chose Treecko back in Ruby, due to my liking of grass starters. I never gave the other 2 a second thought.
I don't typically use starting pokemon in my team. After dozens of replays, it gets a little tiresome starting a team around the same selection of pokemon. But with the addition of new mega evolutions, I made an exception for my first playthrough of ORAS.
I chose Mudkip. Simply because Mega Swampert is hands down the coolest of the mega evolved starters. I love how massive it is (no innuendo here). |
I prepared myself Shiny Treecko with 5IV's for this game in X. I have chosen Treecko for the mega stone and I wanted to see how Mega Sceptile looks in shiny form.
I picked mudkip because it is the only starter that I haven't tried out in the original RSE games.
i used to choose Mudkip.
But I started to like Sceptile more than Swampert. so treecko |
Treecko for me. Torchic became unappealing to me, even though I used it as my starter in the original games, and Mudkip just never caught my eye.
I always used to go back and forth between torchic and Mudkip in ruby, so in OR I couldn't choose.. but ended up going with mudkip. Not sure why though cuz I actually prefer mega blaziken to mega swampert.. but there ya go hahaha
As much as I love Mudkip, I picked Treecko, because I really never completed a run of a Hoenn game with Treecko, and felt obliged to make that happen for the first time. Torchic is adorable too, I just don't care for Combusken/Blaziken.
First playthrough I went with Torchic just because it's the one I started with in Ruby when it first came out. Although I went back and chose Mudkip on my second playthrough just because I really wanted to try Mega Swampert
Mudkip! There is something about Mudkip that appeals me in so many levels... or maybe because I'm a huge fan of water Pokemon.
I also considered choosing Treecko but still, I ended up picking Mudkip. |
I picked Treecko as my starter Pokemon. I really love how easy it is for me to use in battle.
I chose Treecko! I would have chosen Torchic since it's my favorite of the three and it is so adorable, but I did use one in XY so I wanted to try something different. I used Mudkip in my first Sapphire playthrough as well, so Treecko was the only one I hadn't used yet. I also think that Mega Sceptile looks amazing xD
Treecko. I would have went for Torchic but I had already had a recent experience with it with the X/Y Torchic gift.
I've never really liked the Mudkip line, even though I nearly always choose water starters. |
I've restarted the game a couple times now - first playthrough (which I finished) was Torchic, replayed with Torchic... again lol, finished that one. Then I tried it with Treecko, and got really bored of it not even halfway through, so I restarted again and picked Torchic. I haven't played it in a few months now so I think I'm pretty burnt out... no pun intended.
But anyway yeah. Mudkip was my starter back in the original Sapphire version so I wanted to try something different. |
In my original ruby on my very first playtrough I picked treecko and I was planning on choosing it again, but that changed when the mega-evolutions were revealed and mega-swampart looked badass.
Mudkip, Swampert has a really cool and useful typing.
Not that I use it, but it's nice to have. |
Treecko, in my opinion, has always been the coolest of the hoenn starters. The new dragon typing and overall design of the new mega evolution only made him cooler.
Yeah I picked Treeko because I felt like its new mega evolution being Dragon type was pretty hype.
Treecko! Thanks to Emerald it became my favourite starter of all time and I was really looking forward to using it again :) Not to mention Mega Sceptile looks amazing!! :)
I like both Torchic and Treecko, but I chose Torchic just because it's so cool when it evolves, lol. The Mudkip line is ugly and dumb (jk, sorta).
In my first play through I picked Mudkip because it's probably the most useful of the three early and I was super excited to use mega Swampert :0
I picked Treecko because I tend to favour grass type starters, I find Sceptile more visually appealing than Blaziken or Swampert so there's that too.
I used Mudkip in my first OR run, I honestly prefer Torchic, but seeing it as an event pokemon for the X and Y launch, there have been a lot of mega Blaziken running around, and I like Mudkip better than Treecko. I did use a Treecko when I Nuzlocked AS.
Always Mudkip. I love Mega-Swampert's design plus it brings me back to my Ruby days when I just keep on using Mudkip.
I picked Treecko because it was the only Hoenn starter I never picked in the original Ruby and Sapphire. I always had picked either Mudkip or Torchic, so I decided to give Treecko a chance. Also, the dragon type add on for M-Sceptile intrigued me.
Mudkip. Definitely not because of some internet meme, hehe... The Mudkip line just kinda fit in with the team I wanted, and 'Muddymess' hasn't failed me to this day.
Well, I choose Treecko in Omega Ruby, and Mudkip in Alpha Sapphire.
Initially, I chose Treecko because of the Mega Evolution. Then I replayed and used the other two. I'm restarting AS again and will probably once again use Treecko :)
Mudkip
My starter was Treecko.. really love the Mega Evolution's typing (I had heard about it pre-release and thought Treecko was a must!), and plus Sceptile has always been my favorite Hoenn starter.. not too sure why hehe. Just have loved him in both design and typing (pure Grass-types I love for some reason ehe. Dragon-type on top of that though?? Sweet!) for a long time. ♥
My starter was Nincada.
Hey, I boxed Mudkip once I got her. |
Treecko was my partner. Torchic was my partner in the originals, and I had the event one for X, so I decided to go for the wood gecko. He is a great team member
Torchic, always been a fire type fan. Although, since I have both games I restart one and choose a different starter to use. Treecko has made the game a bit of a challenge for me.
Had to pick the same as my original starter in the good old days, Mudkip.
I had to go with Mudkip because that was what I used in my most recent Ruby play through. I originally used Treecko, but the lack of Mega-Evos in RSE made the difficulty a little high.
SO I HERD U LEIK MUDKIPZ shoot me if someone has already said that in this thread lol
lol yeah... I couldn't resist that cheesy joke. Anyway, I've been jumping between mudkip and Treecko a lot. I do choose Mudkip as the majority though. It's got a way better advantage than Torchic, but that's pretty obvious. Plus, it gets the advantage with three of the first few gyms as well. I also love how I can use it against Watson, and he can't do a fucking thing about it either. :D |
I chose Mudkip because he is my favorite out of the three, but I wish I had gone with Treecko for the challenge in OR. I think I am beginning to like the Treecko line much better.
I picked out Treeko. It's my favorite Hoenn starter and it is not only completely adorable, but Sceptile is oh so strong. <3
I chose Mudkip in my first playthrough because that's what I chose on my Sapphire. ^w^
It's got a cool design but that's not why I like it! I like it because it's a Water-Type. When I did my second playthrough I chose Treecko to change up things. I liked it's Mega Evolution! It faces you! |
I picked Treecko because he was my original starter from Pokemon Sapphire. We can't forget about Mega Sceptile, either. Its not every day you get a grass dragon. ;)
Mudkip, because it's my favourite starter from Hoenn since I played Emerald Version.
Torchic, because who doesn't like a self cooking chicken that knows martial arts :D
I really like all 3, but I chose Treeko.
I had to go with Mudkip, the real TeamPlayer (if you get that reference I love you and we should be friends). It was in tribute of Ace, my Swampert from the original Ruby game and it was the first Pokémon I ever levelled to 100! I planned on naming it Ace too but it was a female so I named it after my girlfriend, Allison (she named hers after me first)! Swampert is a monster man, I love it lol. |
I would like to pick Mudkip but I prefer Gyarados.
So, I picked Torchic, and catched a Magikarp and boom! |
Treeko because he is my favorite
My favourite starter from Hoenn is Mudkip because I love water-type pokémon and I love the design but I picked Treecko despite being a grass-type Pokémon because I had already use Torchic and Mudkip in other games and never used Treecko many times!
Havent gotten much hands on experience with ORAS yet but I havent made up my mind about if Ill pick Treecko or Mudkip. Swampert has the preferred Mega and I havent used one before, but I prefer everything else about Sceptiles line more and its one of my favorite Grass types. Grass is also tied for my favorite type.
Quote:
I picked Treecko, then essentially benched him for my PokeBank Magikarp + Fennekin. Though my favourite starters of all time are Snivy and Pikachu.♥ |
I picked Torchic, but Treecko is my favorite 3rd gen starter.
On my first playthrough, I picked Treecko because Sceptile is bæ and is tied with Feraligatr as my favourite starter Pokemon. On my second playthrough, which was a Nuzlocke, I picked Torchic and named it CptFalcon in anticipation for its evolution to Blaziken. Sadly, my 3DS broke before I could get that far, so CptFalcon the Combusken is lying in wait.
I picked Torchic the first time around, then when I reset my game to try to get the rest of the starters I don't have to complete the Kalos pokédex (right now, I just need the last Sinnoh starter and I can get that in ORAS, not to mention a few legendaries), I picked Treecko... though, I wish I would have gone with Mudkip (and not just because I liek Mudkipz). :)
I chose a Torchic, but to be honest, I had bred a shiny Mudkip to be my starter on my X game so I used that one anyway:P
Hi guys, I'm very new to this forum and trying to find a thread to post on and this one seems like a good start :D I have picked Torchic most frequently because I am keen on fire types and I guess the fighting side is ok HOWEVER I am currently playing OR again and I chose Mudkip for only like the 5th time ever, I am having loads of fun on this play through! I'm really not keen on Treecko purely for asthetic reasons (I think he looks dumb) Have a nice day :) x
Mudkip is a bad bi-- axolotl that don't need no man/woman. Mudkip is water pokemon so it was my auto-choice. I'm glad I got it too. Swampert is a tank.
I picked Torchic. I love Fire-types. Blaziken has also been certified as Uncompetitive™ two generations in a row by Smogon, which makes it edgier and, hence, a more attractive choice. Compounding this is the fact that Swampert is ugly and Sceptile looks downright stupid.
Mudkip! I just like Swampert a lot, although I was a little tempted to go with Treecko for old times' sake since it was my other favorite starter back when I still played Emerald.
I picked treecko because thats the same one I chose 11 years ago and I just love me some grass pokemon. And how could you not go with his cuteness!
God, mudkip gets good like so late in the game it's not even kidding, this guy doesnt get a decent water type move until you get surf.
treeko is just the same, it got pretty bad moveset in the beginning part of the games. SO TORCHIC THE OG 3 gen Starter MEGA BABY. It's fighting and fire plus speed boost ability is better then those two. Plus it gets coverages earlier in it's movepool. fighting being a really good type in the beginning. |
mudkip, 'cause it's so damn adorable <3
I chose Mudkip. There are plenty of great Grass-types to choose from, especially early on in the game (Shroomish, anyone?). On this playthrough I'm opting out of using a Fire-type on my team. I have other types that cover what Fire-types are strong against.
I'm still oldschool on the matter of starters. I just choose my favorite, which in this case was Mudkip. Also, earthquake.
I chose Treecko because it reminds me of my first pokemon adventure in emerald. I love how he Mega Evolves and get Dragon as secondary type.
I chose Treecko because it reminds me of my first pokemon adventure in emerald. I love how he Mega Evolves and get Dragon as secondary type.
Treecko. He is the only starter that I never used in any of my RSE playthroughs, so it was a nice change of pace to use him in ORAS.
I chose Treecko. I love Sceptile's design and I never really use the grass starter much, so why not.
Mudkup (or Muslim as my tablet auto corrected to) was my least used starter in the original so I gave it a try. Plus her Mega-Evolution looked awesome.
Torchic! <3
