Congratulations dude! I imagine how hard driving for real can be because it's so different compared to driving a car in video gaming, but at least you tried and succeeded.

alisaie June 1st, 2015 3:36 PM

Congrats!! Now... is this a good act or god or should we fear for our lives when we're on the road (which I already do because old people here).

ngl i laugh everytime I hear someone talk about having to parallel park for their test because I didn't have to.

so lucky.... it was particularly odd because I so rarely mess it up but then here I am doing it the only time that actually mattered messing it up thrice. oh well, it all worked out in the end.

Parallel parking is so hard for me :( Congrats on passing though! Getting your license makes you feel so free 8)

they make you parallel in your test? that's fucked up

Yukari June 1st, 2015 4:46 PM

I'll be taking my driving test after my birthday.

I really don't care that much. :P

on my test they made me do that as the absolute very first thing.

if you hit a cone, you're done. you can't take the test or redo or anything.

needless to say i failed my first test.

Sylphiel June 1st, 2015 6:58 PM

I wish they had tested me for parallel parking on my driving test. But I guess since I was in an area where it wasn't a necessity at all, my driving test was pretty much....drive this way, turn here, turn here, turn here, okay you're done you passed hooray here's your license.

Of course now I live in an area where parallel parking is definitely a thing, so far I've skirted around it by walking everywhere I need to go and not using the car at all (and thus not having to be the one parking) but. :X Yeah. Eek.

Wicked3DS June 1st, 2015 8:39 PM

Parallel parking...luckily if you hit the curb you get another chance, so I was able to do it on my second try :P

Sirfetch’d June 1st, 2015 9:28 PM

For me the parallel parking was tough but the 3 point turn was the hardest part of the test :(

Ivysaur June 1st, 2015 11:31 PM

I managed to pass my driving test on my second try like 6 years ago but I have never had to use a car for transportation anywhere I've lived so chances are I'd need to retake some clases if I'm to start driving for real some day XD;

In Madrid: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madrid_Metro
In Buenos Aires: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buenos_Aires_Underground plus the Bus Line 2, which ran right between my house door and my office.

I also have an Oyster card for every time I visit London. Essentially, public transport takes me wherever I need to go and it's a hundred times cheaper than mantaining a car plus gas and taxes.

Chikara June 2nd, 2015 5:29 AM

The only times I've ever been on public transportation is the Metro in Virginia, and when I was working at the Jacksonville Jaguars stadium one year, we took a bus from the parking garage to the stadium. That's about it.

I prefer paying the money to have my own car anyway -w- Much more reliable, as proven in flight's post above.

Yukari June 2nd, 2015 5:34 AM

We really don't have any public transpiration where I live.

Lycanthropy June 2nd, 2015 7:12 AM

We do have it here, but I find it pretty expensive. Luckily I can use it for free as a student on weekdays and have 40% discount in weekends. :)

Seth Rollins June 2nd, 2015 7:19 AM

There's no metro here, but I used it once or twice when I used to live in America. Plus i live next to my school so I would never use it xD

Pinkie-Dawn June 2nd, 2015 7:52 AM

We don't have any fancy metro transportation in my hometown. There's been some debate whether or not California should have a monorail.

Chikara June 2nd, 2015 10:04 AM

Yeah, all we have here are busses :(
And they're always late.

Or so says my coworker who rides the bus to work and is always late.

Sylphiel June 2nd, 2015 10:26 AM

I keep thinking I should figure out where the buses here run, and then maybe use them sometime.

I have no idea how late or early they run though, I just know I see them all the time on the main street.

That seems like such a convenient excuse. :P

Although if it's true, I can see where it would be a definite annoyance.

Kotone June 2nd, 2015 10:51 AM

we have buses here, but i think it's too dangerous to use them. i'll just use my car, thanks.

The thing here is, buses here are at time some days, and another days they pass earlier (10 minutes or less, most of the time) and you need to wait for another one.

When I was in Buenos Aires, I had to use taxis for everything work-related, moving around the city is hell otherwise. I was lucky to have both direct bus and tube lines between my house and my office.

And, to be honest, taxi fares tend to be ridiculous compared to the local income wherever you go u_u

Meganium June 2nd, 2015 1:32 PM

I actually like the public transportation here in Houston. It's pretty decent, and it's sooo cheap. You don't pay more than $3 for a day's trip, and that includes transfers.

I still prefer going out and about by car though, seeing that it's a really huge city.

Sirfetch’d June 2nd, 2015 2:53 PM

The cities around me have very poor public transportation but that is something that comes from living in a small populated area.

Hikamaru June 2nd, 2015 2:55 PM

I rely on public transport all the time, and I do admit sometimes Sydney has its fair share of bad service but to me I feel like I mostly get good service out of it.

Sirfetch’d June 2nd, 2015 3:00 PM

Idk how I feel about public transportation in all honesty. I would probably not even use it if it were good here. Driving is so much better for me haha
