When did you give up?

If you're like me and you're not a completist, at what point did you put ORAS down for a while?
For me, it was before I finished the Delta episode, I THINK Rayquaza is the next thing to do, but I spent so long exploring places that I hadn't seen before and then lost my way to Rayquaza, I eventually got a new 3DS game and haven't played on ORAS in about 2 months. I might pick it up again soon, but that's when I stopped playing for now anyway. It was probably a bad time to quit and just thinking about it now I should get to Rayquaza, haha.

SleepyTrainer June 1st, 2015 12:26 PM

I put away the game before the last gym for some time, but I wouldn't
call it "giving up" just didn't want to finish it that soon and also sort of
lost intrest in continuing the game. After that I played through the whole
thing and now I'm putting it away again, the soft reseting for shiny Mesprit
is taking way longer than I expected.

Hikamaru June 1st, 2015 12:43 PM

I'm still playing, but there may be a time I want to return to another game and focus on that.

Birthday Thunder June 1st, 2015 1:42 PM

I stopped playing the minute the delta episode was over and I went to the battle resort, only to find out that it was a rehash of the maison from X and Y. Mind you, I'm one of those people who didn't spoil the post game so I was fully expecting the battle frontier to make an appearance in some form. I felt like it was such a slap in the face to see that stupid sign saying "battle frontier in construction, coming soon". I thought, "Ok ok, you're just overreacting. Maybe the frontier will be DLC or something." Come to find out that nintendo dude says "No DLC for pokemon EVAR!!!" My hopes were destroyed, along with the urge to continue playing ORAS.

Crryptic June 2nd, 2015 7:47 AM

Playing Omega Ruby, gave up after finishing Delta Episode. Battle Resort, just did like 3 straight battles and that's about it. Went on and beat the Elite 4 one more time to level up my Celebi lol. I know there's still more you can do by catching legendaries in those unknown areas and such (Did catch Azelf, Mesprit and Uxie though) but I feel like I have more fun collecting my dex through Wonder Trades, GTS, Wifi Trading, etc.

Loriania June 2nd, 2015 9:41 AM

I'm taking a temporary break in AS. Don't really feel like going through Team Aqua HQ again just yet. Besides, I need to catch up in OR.

Kip June 2nd, 2015 11:19 AM

I'm still playing it.

I'm not obsessed or anything. ;)

Aether★ June 2nd, 2015 11:21 AM

I feel horrible, because I lost motivation to play it in November and I was just after 5th gym. I somewhat played it last week and beat 6th gym, but stopped afterwards again...

kelario27 June 7th, 2015 1:46 PM

Went to the Battle Resort, went into the Maison, realized that it was using trainer classes from X/Y, which at that point I hadn't played yet.

At this very moment, I'm trying to find a Nugget or Star Piece in AS so I can trade it to X for a financial boost (I just lost two battles in X).

Pendraflare June 7th, 2015 1:51 PM

Although I haven't played my main version much lately, I still have another copy that i'm doing a difficult challenge on, so that's keeping me occupied. =)

Somewhere_ June 7th, 2015 2:41 PM

I lost motivation before the elite four and forced myself to beat it. I haven't played since, and I am breeding in XY. I think ill do a challenge run of my OR version. I feel like there was so much hype for ORAS, and it died down so quickly that everyone lost interest.

MarcEddy June 7th, 2015 3:59 PM

I lost motavation to play this game last December. I only played about 26 hours total

CJoE June 7th, 2015 4:03 PM

Umm, i didn't 'give up' actually, i got addicted with a online site game and i was too focusing on it. I have no more motivation to play it atm. 8(

xxReshiramxx June 7th, 2015 5:09 PM

Still playing the games I'm currently shiny hunting.

elife June 7th, 2015 11:08 PM

In February, more or less. I fell into a routine of leveling up and getting all the pokemon, but I have returned

Megan June 7th, 2015 11:33 PM

January, or February I think. I just completed the Pokedex, but the whole process was so exausting that I needed a break. Granted, all that's left to do for me is breeding, soft resetting some legendaries and Battle Maison stuff. Unfortunately the breeding and SRing stuff is kinda holding back my motivation for doing some battling on cartridge, which is why I prefer simulators at the moment over OR.

Mowse June 8th, 2015 12:11 AM

I defeated the Battle Maison's 50 Super Singles challenge, and fought the battle that occurs basically afterwards (being vague to avoid spoilers).

I thought about returning to get the rest of the statues, but I already did it in Y, so... I feel a little less motivated to do it again.

I'd complete my Pokedex, but I already have a living one, so it's just a matter of piping down my Pokemon from Pokebank.

I'd like more reason to battle. It'd be fun! But I find that most people I know just prefer Showdown for the convenience.

Abby June 8th, 2015 11:36 PM

I just keep restarting with a load of different challenges

Mimikyu402 June 9th, 2015 5:44 AM

i alredy completed the dex in x and i never gave up on oras i just took a pause when new games camoes up then once im done with them im right back with oras again until next main poke game

Black Alice June 9th, 2015 7:53 AM

After I beat the elite four I stop playing ORAS but was forced to play it seriously after my Y game somehow got corrupted. I prefer XY over ORAS tbh.

Circuit June 9th, 2015 9:04 AM

For me, after I finished the Delta Episode I just kinda lost the urge to pick it up again. I haven't done so for a long time. I keep meaning to start a challenge on OR, but I never get around to it. And there is nothing to draw me back to the game either, no one pestering me to do something, or to battle or anything, so it likely won't get played again for a while.

bradleyklaw June 10th, 2015 6:15 PM

After making my first competitive team I stopped playing

CountessGardevoir June 11th, 2015 1:55 PM

NEVAAAAAAAH!!!!

Evening June 12th, 2015 6:20 AM

After I got tired of egg hatching.

How do you get tired of that!

~RNC~ June 12th, 2015 4:29 PM

I finished bot games and then put them down, I pick up my Y game again and am playing it now.

The Gogoat June 14th, 2015 6:30 PM

I've caught some legendaries (not all of them) after Delta Episode, got 1000 flags in the secret bases and then dropped the game. The lack of motivation to play makes me honestly sad. :(

Humble Hook June 16th, 2015 7:08 AM

I might put it down soon, now that i've done the whole story, its kinda just online battles, and even that's getting boring. I might pick it back up eventually to fill the Dex.

Venitardus June 16th, 2015 8:09 AM

I probably will get tired of them once the new main series games are out. That, or I'll get tired of breeding/dex naving/hording for shines

Nusdogg June 17th, 2015 4:05 PM

Still play every now and then. Usually just online battle.

Altairis June 17th, 2015 7:54 PM

I completed the National Dex! I might try to start breeding but I'm not really sure. I don't really have the patience for it so I might play some other games (Devil Survivor! Bravely Default!) and come back to breeding Pokemon.

Altius June 18th, 2015 5:51 AM

I've stopped touching ORAS after I bought Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate - also, after the Wally rematch.

Not a competitive player really.

DeadAlien June 18th, 2015 3:59 PM

The in-game stuff got boring for me rather quick. I'm not into shiny hunting or anything like that. I mostly just battle now.

Kikaito plush June 21st, 2015 11:08 AM

I gave up after I caught all the legends, after all when there;s nothing to do it's boring.

alisaie June 21st, 2015 4:43 PM

Before the Delta Episode, actually. I finished beating the league and then put it down for a few weeks before picking it up and doing the Delta Episode. Some silly thought about letting the game have things to do for just a little bit longer or something aha. Haven't really done much since finishing the Delta Episode, either.

Wobbu June 21st, 2015 6:00 PM

I defeated Steven and the Elite Four with an underleveled team because Gallade = OP and then I finished the Delta Episode along with some special events like catching Spiritomb and catching some legendaries through the portals. I wanted to catch all the portal legendaries but I took a break after arriving at the Battle Island place and talking to all the NPCs (can't remember the name of the place ;__;). I intended to come back to the game and make progress on National Dex or begin playing the other version of the game, but that never happened :\

TwilightBlade June 22nd, 2015 6:01 PM

I put it down for several weeks because shiny Cresselia refuses to appear. D:

Dedenne1 June 22nd, 2015 6:16 PM

Right when i finished off steven i watched the credits put it down and took 3 months its just nothing in the game was really challenging although i enjoyed the delta episode afterwords if it was more challenging i would have enjoyed he game muccccchhh better.

Jamins June 22nd, 2015 11:36 PM

I took a few months out after completing AS having done the Delta Episode, Battle Resort etc. I forget that I got the Special Edition Groudon 2DS so I have Omega Ruby to begin now. :)

Mackened July 3rd, 2015 5:53 AM

On another note, what's the soonest you've given up on a Pokemon game? For me, it was X & Y, I defeated the Elite Four and stopped there.

Bounsweet July 3rd, 2015 5:56 PM

On my first playthrough, immediately after Delta Episode is when I was like "okay, let's restart this game..."

Since then, I've reset maybe 3-4 times trying to finish another game, but I always seem to lose all interest once I reach Mauville. Like, in that exact area each time. It's really strange.

Guest123_x1 July 3rd, 2015 6:54 PM

I last played my Alpha Sapphire probably a couple of months ago, stopping shortly after I defeated the final Gym. There were quite a few side missions that I hadn't accomplished yet, and I didn't have any idea where to start, so I gave up, and switched to playing Y for a little while, but even that didn't last.
I really should find some time to play both these games some more again.

Xertified July 3rd, 2015 8:54 PM

I gave up when I beat the Pokemon League the second time!

ZKE July 6th, 2015 3:04 AM

Pretty much once I hit the Battle Resort. I've never enjoyed those parts of the game because I'm not that competitive a player.

DarkSkys July 7th, 2015 12:49 AM

Mostly at the end of the game, either get tired of breeding or finishing the dex.

PokéGeek82 July 8th, 2015 5:17 PM

I found myself playing AS from time to time every now and then. But I'll most likely never play AS as long as I played X... I was determined to complete the pokédex in X, so I ended up with more than 720 hours on it :P I'll also breed on AS every now and then but I can't find much motivation for it..

SLTE July 9th, 2015 2:38 PM

After finishing the Delta Episode. I'm not a completionist, either, and I don't feel the need to capture and train every pokemon to perfection. Did that for the third generation, just once, and it took long enough that I don't have the desire to go to such extremes again. I'd rather do shorter challenge runs instead.

Instant IP July 9th, 2015 4:30 PM

I quit after beating the Champion and part of the Delta Episode. I play the game for the thrill of the adventure! I like traveling around and unlocking new things, and that doesn't happen often in the postgame, so I usually drop out around then.

The Red X July 12th, 2015 1:14 AM

I didnt call that give up but I gave up on Delta Episode..But I came back and gave up from battling the champ..Lol,nevermind..Now I call it Give Up..Lol! :/

Iasper July 12th, 2015 2:57 AM

I never really gave up, but the last thing I did on ORAS was resetting for a Latias with good IVs when my battery started getting low. I put away my 3DS to get it charged and essentially just forgot about it since I had more important things to do.

DaybreakM July 12th, 2015 3:41 AM

I gave up after completing the entire dex, I didn't bother doing the Battle Mansion though

Apollo July 12th, 2015 8:13 AM

I put the game down for a while when I was so frustrated because I couldn't catch Groudon, haha. I've restarted it once I decided to just replay the whole thing and I'm hoping I can get around on beating the game because I've never done so.

LyokoGirl5000 July 16th, 2015 11:29 AM

I stopped caring about catching all the Pokemon after I finally succeeded in Alpha Sapphire. I've done it once, why should I do it again? Now I play challenges in Omega Ruby. I still play, but I don't want to catch them all again.

Lectro July 17th, 2015 2:13 PM

I finished it and I decided to start again Pokémon X. Then, I played other games like Ace Attorney. I have my Eon Pass yet, but I will play again soon.

Yoshibrothers July 17th, 2015 7:30 PM

I stopped playing Alpha Sapphire for a bit after beating Wallace. I didn't want to beat the game too quickly, so I took a break and played some Smash Bros.

Blueredemption July 20th, 2015 5:37 AM

I haven't really "quit" yet as I am still waiting on getting a touch trade for hoopa, but since I can't really get that on my own I haven't touched the game in a while. Once that is done the game is pretty much dead.

Pendraflare July 20th, 2015 5:39 AM

The other day, I noticed I haven't saved progress on my main Omega Ruby since May 16th. That's what happens when you're a challenger - you forget about your normal playthroughs, basically.

kingdenas July 21st, 2015 4:05 AM

I gave up after defeating the Champion Steven 2 months ago. But now I'm interested again and I already started the Delta Episode and I'm going to continue it. Maybe after that I'll try to complete the Dex, I don't know ... I'm not going to do competitive battle because I don't know much about it, but maybe I'll try to do a Shiny Hunt.

lolandbeer July 21st, 2015 4:36 AM

There's so few things to do in Pokémon... Hope the next game improves that... GF take your time for once. Don't rush the game again.

Sydian July 21st, 2015 7:28 AM

I kind of quit playing my AlphaSapphire a bit after starting to work on my Pokedex, but I've been back into the swing lately. :>

Urugamosu July 21st, 2015 8:29 PM

Yeah, I quit right after I finished the delta episode. I didn't know Wallace is the champ now, thank for the heads up, I'll be back to playing this game ASAP!
