Hacking on a Macintosh!
I was wondering if there were any Macintosh hacking programs?
I havn't hacking in a while and at that time I had a Windows PC but now I have a few Macintosh computers, just got the newest MacBook Air. I don't really want to use WINE if I could. Thanks in advance! |

Yeah, I guess I'll just use WINE, I don't really want to install Windows
Thanks! |
Virtual machines are a great choice, but they can be laggy sometimes, but I prefer them over WINE

I've been able to get AdvanceMap, Lunar IPS, Tsukuyomi and PKSV to work completely fine with WINE. This was great for me since the majority of my time was spent mapping and scripting, so it was great that I could do it without a Virtual Machine. That's really limited if you don't want to use one though.
Gen 3 Hacking Suite is cross-platform, which is awesome, but it can't edit everything. What I did was set up a Virtual Machine using Virtualbox, and a flashdrive with all the windows only programs on it, and whenever I needed to use a windows only program I booted up the machine, ejected the drive on the Mac, plugged it back in, and it came up on Windows. Then, I would save the machine state instead of shutting it down so it would be easier to use it again, so I didn't have to wait for it to boot up every single time. It took a bit of a while to set everything up, but once it was all set up, it was really easy and relatively painless. The only thing to watch out for is to not have too many applications open at once when you try to use a Virtual Machine, since it can cause everything to lag. I usually close out of everything except for maybe one or two applications before I use it. |
