I've played every iteration of Digimon World, all of which were mostly fantastic. DS iterations had to be my favourite though. Digimon DS World was definitely a good starting point for the series on the DS to lay down the mechanics, but Dawn and Dusk refined to becoming much more accessible and put a more emphasis on the options you had when fusing your Digimon. At one point, I partook in the metagame for Dawn/Dusk, they weren't the most strategic based since team compositions were Calumon and two nukes lol.

I tried a little bit of Lost Evolution, one of the Japan-only DS games, didn't really get down to the nitty-gritty with it, but I was not a fan on how the Digi-evolving worked in it. I also heard the Xros Wars DS games weren't that good, so I didn't even bother with that.

2. What are your predictions with western localization of Cyber Sleuth? E3 announcement?

I heard Namco recently tweeted about the petition. So, it's cool that they're acknowledging that there is an audience. So, it's not totally out of the realm for them to announce it.

3. Do you plan to purchase the game if localized?

Yep. I was contemplating on importing it actually.

4. Which of your favorite digimon would you like to see in Cyber Sleuth if localized?

I already saw the whole roster for Cyber Sleuth so :x But, my favourite of War Greymon, Alphamon, and Ulforce V-dramon are in. Mastemon is also one of the more interesting Digimon, I want to see in action since Cyber Sleuth is her debut appearance. So overall, I'm content with the roster.

I loved World 1 and Dawn/Dusk, 3 was decent, and 2 probably would have been better with a better translation. I also remember liking World Data Squad when I played it a few years ago, but I'm not sure it would still like it if I were to replay it now. The rest I either didn't like (they never made a World 4 what are you talking about) or haven't played.

2. What are your predictions with western localization of Cyber Sleuth? E3 announcement?

*insert laughtrack*

A more serious answer- it wont be localized. It's part of a series that hasn't been that popular in years and Bamco showed with All Star Rumble that they don't care about the series anymore. It being a Vita game doesn't do it any favors.

I'd love to be proven wrong, though.

3. Do you plan to purchase the game if localized?

Yes, although then I'd have to somehow come up with the money to get a Vita so I could play it which is something I'm much less likely to bother with.

4. Which of your favorite digimon would you like to see in Cyber Sleuth if localized?

Dorumon + its evolutions and maybe Coronamon.

I absolutely loved them Dawn/Dusk is my favourite game of all time, only console games I own are DW4 (which is pretty fun if you have a friend along) and allstar rumble (which is an absolute and utter disappointment that I only bought to support the Operation Decode petition).
2. What are your predictions with western localization of Cyber Sleuth? E3 announcement?
I'm praying for an E3 localization announcement, I'l buy a Vita just for this game alone.
3. Do you plan to purchase the game if localized?
Yes, a million times yes, definitely, maybe not immediately on launch day but the sooner the better (especially considering Digimon games tend to be low in supply).
4. Which of your favorite digimon would you like to see in Cyber Sleuth if localized?
Machinedramon or Apollomon, although I know the latter isn't in (Dianamon is in it though so I guess it's something).

I guess I'll put this here- there's a listing on Amazon Canada for Digimon World Cyber Sleuth for PS4. Note the use of 'World', and not 'Story' which is what the Japanese games go by. It's also part of an E3 sales promotion, which could be nothing.

But it's something.

I consider this a pretty relevant reason to bump this topic, it's confirmed, Digimon Cyber Sleuth will be coming to America on the PS4 (Physical and Digital) and PSVita (Digital only) However for those like me who live in europe, we should be able import it as neither is region-locked.
You can now squeal all you want
EDIT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqx63_LOii0 European version as well.

Welp, they went and proved me wrong. Guess it's time to start saving up for a PS4. The fact that they're sticking with Digimon Story and not going with Digimon World like they have been for years has me raising an eyebrow given their questionable localizations recently, but whatever it's Digimon and it's being released outside of Japan and that's good enough for now.

The European release is going to be digital only for both PS4 and Vita.

saifors July 3rd, 2015 12:12 PM

I'm hoping it does well, if it does it pretty much guarantee's Digimon game localizations and we won't have to wait 3+ years on translation patches any longer.

Well, this is another reason for me to get a PS4. It'll be a while off until I get the system, but I might just get the game around the time it comes out to help with sales, showing that there is a market for Digimon in the West.

Digital-only for here is precisely why I will be importing it unless they change their minds. I am extremely upset that we've been given the digital-only treatment AGAIN - especially for something like this - and I will not be supporting the EU release because of it. I think we're entitled to the same treatment that the US is receiving, and unless we get that they don't deserve my money, as far as I'm concerned. It's disgusting.

That said, I'm quite excited for this! It's about time we got a proper Digimon game released over here again and, whilst my first instinct would be to get it for the Vita - I've always preferred handheld consoles - the screenshots indicate that it's going to look very nice indeed on PS4. I'm fairly surprised its being localized, as I was under the impression that the crappy fighting game on PS3 (which got a physical release over here, might I add!) didn't sell particularly well. Still, it's nice to see.

They might start doing physical releases for Europe as well if it sells well, ASR sold only 28k in Europe, which is also probably why it's only in English and not in any other european language.

Also from the screenshots shown the PS4 version doesn't look any different from the Vita version.
