FireRed or LeafGreen?

I would say FireRed since... well, not many difference but I just liked it.

How about yours?

Thanks!

Hikamaru June 16th, 2015 6:09 PM

In the brief time I played these games, I was playing Leaf Green. While some of my fave Pokemon are split between versions as far as exclusives go, if I still had to pick one version it would have been Leaf Green.

Granzen July 10th, 2015 9:14 PM

I pick Leaf version because of Bulbasaur.

Sun July 10th, 2015 9:47 PM

I prefer FireRed, since the version exclusives like Electabuzz, Shellder, Oddish, Growlithe, Wooper, Murkrow, Skarmory and Scyther.

While LeafGreen isn't too shabby with Staryu, Magmar, Marill and Slowpoke.

Apollo July 11th, 2015 4:13 AM

I made further progress with LeafGreen than I had with FireRed since it was the first main series Pokemon game I ever owned, but I think I prefer the latter. It's probably because I had a ROM hacking phase years ago and I often used FireRed as a base, which gave me a sort of attachment to the game, haha. :'D

esperance July 11th, 2015 10:07 AM

LeafGreen! Being into ROM hacking has made me appreciate the uniqueness LeafGreen brings, especially when everyone favors FireRed.

S-MAN July 19th, 2015 12:04 AM

Leaf green. The color is calming and it's all about venusaur!

Lycanthropy July 19th, 2015 10:13 AM

Looking at the version exclusive Pokémon I have to say LeafGreen. I prefer Slowpoke over Psyduck, Staryu over Shellder and Magmar over Electabuzz. In the other pairs I don't really have a preference for either side.

Gandhi Savage July 19th, 2015 11:34 AM

LeafGreen is probably my preferred version! I picked up FireRed first and I still remember how happy I was when my dad bought it for me. It was amazing honestly. I rushed through it though and just spammed my Charizard, eventually adding Moltres (of all things) to my team. Typing meant nothing to me as a kid, lol. I was never able to finish the game though.

On LeafGreen though I managed to beat the game. I chose Bulbasaur as my starter before adding a Pidgeot and Gengar to my final team. I had so much fun playing through the game and just have fonder memories of the journey itself, rather than how I got the game in the first place. Defeating the Elite Four with a team of three at Level 50 was a major challenge, and I love looking back on it a lot.

Lord Cloud July 21st, 2015 7:26 AM

Leaf Green because I like the color green.

Urugamosu July 21st, 2015 9:09 PM

Fire Red, I remember buying it with the Gameboy Advance SP. I was busy playing that game for days and days.

mymycool9 July 22nd, 2015 3:56 PM

Well what color do you prefer... red or green?

Sydian July 22nd, 2015 5:17 PM

I remember wanting FireRed when they were announced because...fire. lol I also prefer the version exclusives of FireRed to the ones of LeafGreen, so that answers that!

LusoTrainer July 23rd, 2015 8:05 AM

FireRed, just because I prefer most of the exclusives.

gengar__ August 1st, 2015 9:44 AM

leaf green!

Aurora August 2nd, 2015 3:57 AM

FireRed's version exclusives are pretty mediocre, but considering it was my first ever Pokemon game it'd be wrong of me to say that it's not my preferred game out of it and LeafGreen. I also detest the colour green with a visceral passion.

GengyGengar August 2nd, 2015 5:54 AM

I can't decide. Probably Leaf Green because I don't like Charizard, the mascot of Fire Red. But I hate green. Idk I can't choose...

Crizzle August 2nd, 2015 6:03 AM

I played Leafgreen first. So I'll say that one.

TwilightBlade August 2nd, 2015 7:20 AM

I bought FireRed because I preferred Charizard on the box cover. Some of my favorites were left out because of version exclusives, gah.

Zeturic August 3rd, 2015 2:44 PM

Until after Blaine, the only Fire-types you can get are Flareon and either Vulpix or Growlithe. Ninetales sucks, while Arcanine is awesome. Even after Blaine, you only get access to Ponyta and (for LG) Magmar, neither of which are worth waiting that long for. There's also Moltres if you're willing to use that.

GamerTamer August 6th, 2015 4:59 AM

Firered because the name is cooler.

Pave Low August 6th, 2015 5:05 PM

LeafGreen because I prefer the Pokemon that are exclusive to the game which is the only in-game difference between the two. Other than that, I prefer the cover and the colours displayed on the cover. LG was one of my first Pokemon games and I've used a lot in challenges, so I think I have good reason to pick LG over FR.

Infinitum August 6th, 2015 10:53 PM

Fire Red:
  • Box-art was way more appealing, Charizard just ruled.
  • I really liked the exclusives much more, and I disliked Bulbasaur.
  • They should've remade Blue (Aqua Blue or something) because in Europe/NA in Gen I Blue/Red were released and Green wasn't.

SparklingMistral August 8th, 2015 7:40 PM

FireRed. My favorite color is red, so naturally I had to go with the game that had my favorite color in it. xD

SW-OWK August 18th, 2015 7:04 AM

I first played Leaf Green so i like that one better. Nostalgia is a strange thing. :)

Sylphiel August 21st, 2015 6:55 PM

Leaf Green, because I like Venusaur more. ;D

Though seriously, I have (or at least ended up with) both versions, but Leaf Green is the one I prefer since it was "mine" in the first place, it was the version I actually bought for myself. The Fire Red I have was actually my sister's copy at one point, but it ended up in my care whoops. I think I chose Leaf Green in the first place since my first pokemon game ever was Blue, and in place of Blue not being one of the two colors available here ...Leaf Green was the next best choice.

nundo August 22nd, 2015 3:04 AM

Firered, just because i could catch Growlithe haha

Shiro August 22nd, 2015 3:42 AM

LeafGreen. I bought it simply because green is my favorite color and I preferred Venusaur though lmfao. FireRed did have some of my favorites, such as Growlithe, but LeafGreen had Slowpoke so.

Sheep August 24th, 2015 11:20 AM

LeafGreen. I love Bulbsaur and Ivysaur so much, and FireRed was the copy my friend got and we always made sure to get different games. LG had some cool exclusives too, like the Vulpix line and my precious Sneasel. <3

DraconianWing August 24th, 2015 12:31 PM

LeafGreen, simply because of nostalgia. However most of the exclusives that I liked were on FireRed. (Scizor, Skarmory and Arcanine)

(Super)Slowpoke August 24th, 2015 12:32 PM

LeafGreen! It was one of my first Pokemon games ever, then I lost it for few years and when finally found it I cried because I was so happy. ;-; It was in my old bag that was inside the wardrobe, I'm so stupid.

💀DUSKIZARD💀 August 25th, 2015 11:43 AM

probably FireRed because of charizard...

Dedenne1 August 25th, 2015 2:59 PM

Leafgreen cause it was one of my first pokemon games and i never played firered and i like supporting the underdog pokemon and everyone already loves charizard. :)

Elite Overlord LeSabre™ August 25th, 2015 6:50 PM

Leaf Green was the version I bought, since it has the better version exclusives, my brother got the other version, and since I was gonna play through the game as Leaf...

The featured Pokemon on the front was a moot point because I went with Squirtle as my starter :P

blaze up August 26th, 2015 3:47 AM

I like Fire Red because of Arcanine, Scyther and I also like Leaf Green because of Starmie, Slowbro though I usually play Fire Red due to Arcanine being my must have pokemon in Kanto. My usual Kanto team is

1.Arcanine
2.Nidoking
3.Jolteon
4.Lapras
5.Aerodactyl, Dragonite or Scyther(albeit rarely)
6.HM slave

Micael Alighieri August 26th, 2015 8:17 AM

Definitely, Leaf Green, I always liked Victreebel and Slowbro.

OliDSi August 26th, 2015 2:27 PM

FireRed had better exclusives. That's the only real thing that matters.

KorpiklaaniVodka August 26th, 2015 2:53 PM

I would choose FireRed because it's the first Pokemon game I've ever played and imo it has cooler pokemon.

salvadorbard September 7th, 2015 1:48 PM

Leaf Green all the way!

Bounsweet September 7th, 2015 8:52 PM

I got FireRed first when that came out, which I loved sooo much honestly. But, I picked up LeafGreen a couple of years ago and that quickly replaced FireRed as my favorite between those two remakes, mostly because I got to use Ninetales, but also because I picked Bulbasaur as my starter and it quickly became my favorite Kanto starter after that, too.

shadow Noctowl September 9th, 2015 11:52 AM

I would pick firered

Lexatom September 19th, 2015 8:02 PM

I like Firered better, mainly because it's the earliest core Pokemon game in the series that I own a physical copy of as of now. That, and I used that same exact cartridge when I was little. :3

Nuclearkiller42 September 22nd, 2015 2:50 AM

LeafGreen. It has Ninetales and Sneasel, while the only version exclusive of FireRed that I care about is Skarmory.
I always prefer the second version. Well, except for Diamond and Pearl. I don't really have a preference for that.

Raskolnikov September 22nd, 2015 3:56 AM

Fire Red is my first game so I say Fire Red. But I don't think there is too much difference to judge them. Even, LeafGreen has more beautiful pokemon.

KetsuekiR September 22nd, 2015 7:29 AM

I have to say LeafGreen since it's the one I played all that time ago. Plus, it has Ninetales ~

LucaYasha September 22nd, 2015 3:23 PM

FireRed...cause leaf wasn't available at the time :( still love the game :pink_nod:

DelSymbols September 23rd, 2015 9:15 PM

What do you mean Leafgreen wasn't available at the time? They both came out at the same time.

Evan5282 October 22nd, 2015 2:48 AM

LG
