Same story in Shotkan. *blocks random punch* There goes his arm...

Anyway, yeah, they all complement each other. For my best techniques, though, Gyaku-tsuki, Mawashigeri, and Uro-mawashigeri (reverse-punch, roundhouse kick, and back-roundhouse kick).

*agrees with Nin-nin-kun about helicopter kick-dealie* Just takes extra time, and in a combat situation, so much as a sixteenth of a second can make the difference between victory and defeat. The spin takes longer than a sixteenth of a second.

IceKitten May 11th, 2005 12:40 AM

Watch it or I will Slash you o.o

~Ozy~ May 11th, 2005 12:55 PM

*sharpens katana* Say what now? :P

NiNGi May 13th, 2005 4:04 AM

She quieted down... XD

Meow... Although there might be some effective uses of the spinning kick, as my friend can use it quite effectively after he dodges a kick... I don't really know how to explain it, but it works for him! :P
Oh, and a correction - I believe the uro mawashi geri is called ura mawashi geri... xP *gets shot for his 'I know everything attitude'* XD
Meh... nothing serious... just teasing ya. XD

IceKitten May 13th, 2005 4:05 AM

*assassinates TAD* o.o

You say what? Oh wait you can't speak XP

NiNGi May 13th, 2005 11:47 AM

Hehe, I am not sure whether he's THAT easy to assassinate... XD *points to his 'samurai' tag*
He owns you. XD

~Ozy~ May 13th, 2005 2:09 PM

*dodges assassination attempt and comes in with a beheading stroke*

I've heard it both ways, but it's listed as uro-mawashigeri in Dynamic Karate and the way Sensei Merrell taught it to me (along with imparting ways of making it the TAD-uro-mawashigeri special, served with a side dish of your ***). But I'm fairly sure both are vaild.

As for a spinning kick, well, I've seen them used effectively too. I've also seen them easily defeated with backfist strike.

Groudon80 May 14th, 2005 5:39 AM

I like bali kick best, you jump, kick and land all on the same foot(360 degree spin)

NiNGi May 15th, 2005 3:29 AM

mmm I don't know the kick you're talking about, groudon... ^^;

And TAD, the definition of ura means back or reverse, ne? The Japanese term then should be ura, not uro :P Like ura gyaku, ura shuto, ura oni kudaki etc... :3

~Ozy~ May 15th, 2005 6:00 AM

Eh, like I said, I've heard it both ways. But whatever. What matters is that you can do the technique and do it right. Knowing the name isn't what's gonna keep you safe.

NiNGi May 15th, 2005 6:54 AM

Muwahahaha I know! As I said, just teasing ya...! XD *pokes you annoyingly* :3

So... what shall we talk about now? Let's see - how often do you train? (including when you train by yourself)

Groudon80 May 15th, 2005 7:12 AM

Bali is really hard to explain, so I wont confuse you.

I train about 4-5 hours a day, at my dojang.

~Ozy~ May 15th, 2005 10:16 AM

Hmmm... Karate, I train three hours a week at my dojo, about a total of 12 or so outside. Kendo, two hours at the dojo, 11 outside.

B-Baller May 15th, 2005 10:22 AM

The more appropriate question to sk me is when do I NOT train. I train about 10+ hours a day.

Woah!!! Tsuyoi budo tamashii desu neee!? :D
I like your spirit! ^_^

Well, just as Bart, I train a bit everywhere I don't get noticed... sometimes I jump benches in the park when I'm alone, and other times I practise things like the happo tenchi tobi a bit everywhere I go... :P

Regarding more intense training, I train every day for at least an hour, but not only on martial arts, also weight lifting, flexibility exercises etc... Then at the Dojo I train 3 hours a week plus some special events where we train for three hours... it comes about once every three months, and we do some special high level stuff there... ^_^

~Ozy~ May 15th, 2005 4:08 PM

If we're talking that kinda stuff, then I suppose that jacks my count up a good bit. Serious, devoted training, though, I don't have the time for much more than I mentioned. Come summer, though...

Groudon80 May 15th, 2005 5:31 PM

Woah bart! You train more than me! 0_o and I'm an instructor...

Eon-Rider May 18th, 2005 12:45 AM

Well I just came back from TKD training.

Yep, same. For training I meant in many aspects, not only when you take time off to 'train' for real. ^^
Anyways, I haven't got much time either to train every day, but I try to at least do some general exercises for half an hour minimum... you know, just to keep fit! ^^

~Ozy~ May 19th, 2005 1:17 PM

I'd be able to train a bit more if it wasn't for finals... How I loathe finals. well, finals, and perfecting lightsaber dueling techinques... Hehe... Yes, I am a total Star Wars geek.

NiNGi May 22nd, 2005 10:40 AM

Oh, pleeeeease! Don't tell me you're into this 'Star Wars Mania' too!? XD

That's disappointing.... *shakes head*

*runs to the cinema to watch Star Wars episode 3* XD

~Ozy~ May 22nd, 2005 11:02 AM

Totally, completely into it... Hehe... I've already seen it twice, gonna go see it again in a few days.

NiNGi May 25th, 2005 7:37 AM

Meow... I should show ya a video called Star Wars III: A Lost Hope! XD

It's funny.... xD

Buff Norris July 7th, 2005 11:25 PM

*bows* I think I'll try to revive this club.
Remember me? I was checking old messages from my club on sppf, and I came across your post telling us about your club here. So I came here to check it out. May I join?
I train in Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do and Aikido. I also trained in Tae Kwon Do for a year, and I occasionly cross-train in many other arts too.

Eon-Rider July 7th, 2005 11:26 PM

It is kinda too late too revive it... It has been dead for over a month... You might as well start a new club.
