Right now, I am reading Fool's Quest by Robin Hobb - It's the second book of Fitz And The Fool
Yes, I like reading... ^_^

Already halfway through Speaker For the Dead by Orson Scott Card.

This used to be my favorite book until I found how just how many issues it has.

Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke. How have I only just learn of this book now?

Silence is Golden, the 3rd book part of the Storm and Silence series by Robert Their. The first 2 books are available to read for free on Wattpad whilst the other is on Radish Fiction. I totally recommend them, its not your usual romance story you usually find on Wattpad :)

I remember quite liking this book. It's the only Halo novel I've read, but I'd consider reading another. If you've finished it, what did you think?

I'm currently finishing up Storm Front by Jim Butcher. I decided to read it based off of a recommendation from a coworker and have enjoyed it so far.

Lacking anything that's really piqued my interest I've gone back to an old favorite, A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin. I've also added to my jar or tears upon remembering that disappointing Ghibli adaptation.

It's great and when you're finished you can watch the mini series adaptation which is really good and sticks very closely to the book.

Been reading Eye of the world by Robert Jordan. Part one of the wheel of time series. Massive LotR vibes from this. So far a really great read. Interesting characters and world building.

Currently reading:

Black Rose by Nora Roberts - Second book in the In The Garden trilogy, and the plot is all over the place. Like Roberts wasn't sure which character she wanted to write about in this book.

Xenocide by Orson Scott Card - Let's not talk about this.

In Cold Blood by Truman Capote. I haven't read a lot of non fiction books so far, but this one is just exceptional. There's just something about Capote's writing that just sticks with you.

I am reading Harry Potter and the cursed child.
It isnt exactly a book but its a stage script of the play.

VanillaMiltank August 20th, 2016 10:59 AM

I am currently reading The Merlin Conspiracy by Diana Wynne-Jones

I am reading "when breath becomes air" What makes life worth living in the face of death? What do you do when the future, no longer a ladder toward your goals in life, flattens out into a perpetual present? What does it mean to have a child, to nurture a new life as another fades away? These are some of the questions Kalanithi wrestles with in this profoundly moving, exquisitely observed memoir.

It's a great series if you dedicate the time to get past the slower bits in the middle. Robert Jordan's descriptive writing style can paint a picture like almost no other can. :)

Right now I've been reading about quantum reality. Its wild stuff.

Currently I am rereading another one of the Halo books. The one I am reading is Halo Glasslands by Karen Traviss. It is the first of the Halo books in the Kilo Five trilogy. It takes place between Halo 3 and Halo 4, in other words it takes place after the Human - Covenant War.

Astinus August 28th, 2016 1:57 PM

Red Lily by Nora Roberts - The last book in the In The Garden series. It's getting trippy, since the plot is moving away from the romance a little and more into the supernatural.

Winter August 30th, 2016 9:41 PM

Neal Stephenson's Seveneves.

The Emperor's Blades by Brian Staveley

It's a pretty solid fantasy novel so far. I like the concept and the main characters all seem quite interesting.

I just started a book I got from the artist alley at Saboten today. :3 It's called Angel's Prophecy by Kira Shay. The artist who did the cover was my senpai, 69Geist. <3

"A Theory of Socialism and Capitalism" by Hans-Herman Hoppe. I love this guy. <3

I also finished "Conspiracies of the Ruling Class: How to Break Their Grip Forever" by Lawrence B. Lindsey.

Conspiracies started off pretty bland and didnt really teach me anything I didnt know already. But most of the book was amazing! Very factual and interesting! However, I think the "How to Break Their Grip Forever" was a bit naive. Great ideas, but I think the author makes a mistake by being too pro-democracy. I think the part about being philosophically populist as a method of "breaking the grip" could make up for that mistake though. Overall a 7/10.

I am currently rereading another one of the Halo books. The one I am rereading is Halo Mortal Dictata by Karen Traviss. It is the final book in the the Kilo Five trilogy. The time period it is set in is between Halo 3 and Halo 4.

Margot September 5th, 2016 12:42 PM

I'm reading (dreadfully slow) two books atm: The Snows of Kilimanjaro which is a collection of Hemingway's short stories and Tender is the Night by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

I recently finished a book called Hemingway in Love where he talks about his love life and all the issues that stemmed from it. One of the sections talks about how both he and Fitzgerald spoke to each other long after they had published their big all star books, were mostly broke, suffering alcoholics, and without the loves of their lives. Those feelings were what inspired the two books I'm reading now and it makes you read them in a completely different way.

Right now I am reading James and The Giant Peach by Roald Dahl. It is fantastic so far.

The next book I plan to read is Temba Dawn by Alec Lea, which is another children's book.

Astinus September 6th, 2016 5:35 AM

Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott - This is a book about writing. Not just how to write, but also why writing is so magical to people. I just started it, but I can see myself in a lot of what's written here.

Children of the Mind by Orson Scott Card - I will be so glad when I am done with this book.
