Sappy In Game Problem

More problems! :o
This time, it is another problem occuring exclusively in game, sounds fine in sappy. In game, the song sounds like.. Crumbling paper almost, (sounds like a TV when theres no channel found and it makes that extremely annoying loud noise with the gray static screen..) on certain parts. Does this mean that some parts are too loud or some tracks? I think it is the drums that are causing it but I'm not 100%. Any ideas? :c

Your song is too loud. Go into the .S file (Assuming you use them)

You will see something like:

Code:

        .equ        SEQ_GS_C_HANADA_FINAL_mvl, 127

This line will be near the top (SEQ_GS_C_HANADA_FINAL is the name of my song, it'll be the name of your song instead)

Change 127 to be lower. This mvl is the "master volume level". If you look in your song a bit, you'll see things like:

Code:

        .byte                VOL  , 100*SEQ_GS_C_KUCHIBA_FINAL_mvl/mxv

This is basically the multiplier of how loud each track will be. If it's 127, it's super loud, if it's like 70 or 65, it is considerably less loud, and will produce no crackling. (If you still hear crackling, you'll still need to lower it again. 70 and 65 are usually safe bets, but that won't be the case with every single song as you could imagine)

That should be it.

Gogojjtech, i was wondering if you could answer a question i have.

i used jambo's code to increase the number of directsound tracks to 12 (in firered) the rom could take. However, when i tested it in-game, it sounded like it couldn't take more than five and it didn't sound like it did in sappy.

You have to restart your save states for it to take effect. As for sappy, change the settings within the program.
