Jurassic World
It wasn't bad, I would watch it again. Only three pet peeves. I'll put them in a spoiler even though they don't really spoil anything but just in case
Spoiler:
If you've seen it what did you think of it? |
lol @ your pet peeves, all valid. i just saw it for the second time like an hour ago, i mean it's definitely quite the 'popcorn muncher' as critics call it. nothing too special imo but it's good entertainment + i love chris pratt, so yeah!
also the little kid is adorable |
yeah i thought it was worth the money considering i never got bored and chris pratt was not only good eye candy, he was good as his character

The movie was a lot better than the other sequels. Plus all of those callbacks from the original film. I almost cried when they played the original theme during the beginning. As for your complaints on how they never explain how they took the island back, there was more detail about it at their official website, which is being treated like a real zoo website.
The movie has also spawned a new meme onto the franchise's already huge meme list: Spoiler:

I thought it was a good movie. I haven't seen the original Jurassic Park, but I still enjoyed it. It didn't have too much in the way of interesting characters but I didn't really mind because the entertainment value for this movie isn't in the characters. The dinosaurs were cool and thats about all I was interested in, and it was a fun movie to watch.

I mean, JW's got big plot holes and the writing was kind of meh, but I loved the heck out of it because of all the dinosaurs and the crazy ending. |

Jurassic World doesn’t remotely leave the impression the original movie does, but it’s a good time. I enjoyed it overall, but a couple days later I couldn’t remember anything that happened outside of a few key scenes. Another thing about the movie that bothers me is how much it takes from the original. I’m a huge fan of that movie - I’ve seen the film several times, I’ve read the Crichton novel over and over again, I’ve read the screenplay, etc. - I have to wonder just how effective some of JW’s best parts are if you’re not all that familiar with Jurassic Park.
I hated the whole “uptight businesswoman gains a family” angle that fuels most of Bryce Dallas Howard’s character arc. It’s generally played out, the movie does nothing new or interesting with it, and the original film did much a superior version of this storyline with Grant, Ellie, Lex, and Tim. The whole romance with Chris Pratt was unnecessary, added nothing to either character, and I never really felt like the actors had the chemistry with each other to make it work. The scene where they kissed came out of nowhere. Howard also doesn’t really connect with the kids, either, who are my least favorite part of the movie anyway. I know not everyone would agree, but Lex and Tim were better. The human villains - Henry Wu and Hoskins - aren’t that great, either. Despite his expanded role from the first movie, Wu still doesn’t do anything but provide exposition and get away in time to set up the inevitable sequel. And I’m not one to care about characters being complex in movies like these, but I hate that Hoskins only exists to cause conflict and then get eaten quickly afterwards in a way that jut about everyone called as soon as he showed up. Dennis Nedry, the original film’s main human villain, is a pretty minor character in the grand scope of things, still gets a couple of scenes to hint at a motivation for why he’s working for Dodgson against InGen. And aside from that, you have a bunch of throwaway characters - including the InGen President and John Hammond-expy who is nowhere near as sympathetic as Hammond was, Howard’s assistant who gets that long death sequence, and the people in the control room (who, admittedly, had that one really funny scene). Chris Pratt was fun, though, and I liked the subplot of him and the raptors. When I was watching, I kept thinking that it would probably have been a lot better if his relationship with Blue was the center of the movie. The I.Rex was a fun concept. And I can forgive every flaw in this movie for the climax. I nearly cheered when the line, “we need more teeth”, comes up in the climax and they released the original T.Rex. Everything about that sequence - especially the part where the Rex smashes through the Spinosaurus skeleton (fuck you, JPIII!) - was excellent, as was the fight. JW is fun, and it’s better than The Lost World or JPIII, but when all’s said and done it’s pretty disposable. I watched it, enjoyed it, promptly forgot most of it, and watched the original Jurassic Park. It’s still far and away the best, and it’ll probably never be topped by any sequel. |
Great movie! Although it met my expectations, I can't help but scratch my head over some of the scenes. Of course, it's a movie--the CGI-based dinosaurs will not maul the main cast. I can't get over how badly things would have ended if setting the T-Rex free to face the I. Rex horribly backfired. Plenty of situations could have ended horribly with the raptors. If there were safety measures installed in the hamster-ball ride thing that prevented the glass ball from going out of boundaries, we wouldn't even get into the meat of the movie, heh.
Human characters besides Owen were kinda mediocre. There was little need to build this idea that Owen has a history with Claire, their kiss really came out of no where, and the movie portrayed her as this businesswoman with little time to spend time with a family or with her nephews. I laughed at the scene shortly after when the boys exclaimed wanting to stay by Owen's side. They just witnessed their uptight high-heel wearing aunt unload several bullets into a mini pterodactyl , but they wanted to side with him... I believe there was some reason why the movie mentioned the kids' background and the whole parents divorcing thing. Maybe it was to evoke vulnerability and fear. It could imply something on a deeper psychological level. Especially with the younger one, their personalities are over exaggerated to the point where I had to speculate that their behavior is a means to cope with the estranged family. Gray was hyperactive and keenly interested in advanced knowledge. Zach was emotionally distant from everyone, even his attached girlfriend, but apparently physically drawn to every teenage girl in the park. I never felt they were in danger from the dinosaurs, but their coping with family issues opened a door to a different kind of vulnerability and danger. Not sure how the park is going to recover from those lawsuits! :P |
yeah I thought the introduction of a romance between the two main characters was really dumb and not needed at all. why do movies resort to a side romance that has nothing to do with the plot all the time ughhh
|
A little crazy but I though of Chris Pratt's char as the volunteer boy from the original Jurassic Park given he would now be around that age give or take a year and would have huge respect for raptors (like Chris Pratt's char has) after the telling off he got

Definitely felt like a re-hash of the first film. Critiques below.
Spoiler:
Still really enjoyed it. Bryce Dallas Howard was amazing in it, even if she was stuck in heels the whole time. Loved the callbacks and allusions to the older films and hope that we get another one! |
It was fine. Nothing special but at least it wasnt 2 or 3.

And god damn did it work. The added cheese and insanity just did it for me, especially since I was expecting the worst. Not as good as the first film, mind, but I'm happy with it. |
I should also mention that the Nostalgia Critic did a review of Jurassic World, even when it's still in theaters, and his excuse for it is for some tradition of him reviewing all Jurassic Park movies. Needless to say, he was nitpicking and bashing the every scene up until the ending, where he had the guy from Honest Trailers narrate the whole scene on why it's awesome.

I couldn't remember much of the first film but JW was worth it for Pratt's performance and the dinosaurs alone. The climatic ending was one of the best I've seen all year, and it certainly entertained.

Great movie but rubbish plot - I don't like how only the main woman was given character development out of all the main characters. Even the raptors felt like they'd made more progress with understanding themselves than any of the main characters did. And this isn't even mentioning how useless and irrelevant the kids were... It was a good film regardless but the plot let it down a lot haha. Chris Pratt salvages anything ;)
|
I haven't seen it yet, but I want to because it has my husband, Chris Pratt, in it~ ;)
|
It was fine. but i'm confused that how it collects huge amount of collection in world box office.
