I still get allowance which confuses me but I don't ask questions
I get my allowance per week. It lasts for a week. Back in elementary, my allowance per week was 50 pesos.
I never had an allowance per say, but I got most of what I needed, which wasn't much so lol.
Not really. The only allowance I got while growing up was birthday/Christmas money. I would have to save all that money up to get what I wanted. There were times, though that I earned money for doing some major chores or helping people out, but other than that, that was it.
hahahahahahaha nope
Allowance? Nope. If I wanted something I had to tell the parents and they'd consider it but they wouldn't outright give me money unless it was for lunch/a snack at school and the like. So the whole concept of an allowance is odd to me since I'm so used to just asking for a gift as a reward rather than the money to actually buy said reward.
Spoiled spoiled spoiled. Kind of. |

OP: "I know most people on this site are below 17, so I'll establish my dominance by reminiscing about when I was a kid, clearly yet subtly establishing the age gap between myself and these infants."

I had £10 a month in pocket money, which would have been £15, but as I got the Official Nintendo Magazine and Astonishing Spiderman comic every month, it was taken out of it. If I wanted anything as a kid, I had to either pray the car needed washing, or nag and nag and NAG until I got it. Neither option really worked, so I just made do with what I got. Better than nothing, after all~ |

I never got one as my parents didn't have a lot of money.
I remember receiving money for extra chores here and there, or for baby-sitting, but a steady allowance wasn't a thing for me. I can't say I've never gotten it, but I also can't re-call the last time I did.
Like others it was more-so I could ask for something and it'd be considered, or I would get money for special occasions like my birthday or for Christmas, but otherwise there was like a month or two where I received it in my lifetime, but nothing consistent. I was already spoiled, so I guess that's a good thing. |
Nope. My parent's didn't have enough money to give me or any of my 2 older sisters allowances. :(
Nope. I remember asking a few times while I was a kid but I never got one. The only time I got money from them was birthday, christmas, or whenever I needed money for something school related and such.
I got allowance when I was a kid. At first I got $20 a week, but only after I did some chores (Or if I made some good grades), then it had to be switched to $20 every other week (I could still get $20 a week if I also did some chores for my dad.).
Nope. I didn't receive an allowance as a kid. My father used to live by the motto that we shouldn't need to be paid to help out around the house. We live together; we're family, so we don't charge each other for help. In a way it was admirable, but as a kid I used to always be jealous of my friends who got pocket money. That being said, I never missed out. My parents never let me go without. Not to the point of spoiling me, but I was sure as hell more lucky than a lot of people which I will always be grateful for.
Never did get one. Anything that I did want to buy was bought by my parents, and any birthday/holiday money was put directly into my savings account. I do wish that I did get an allowance as a kid because it would have taught me to hold onto any money I had on hand. I spent a lot of money for no good reason when I first got a job.
I don't recall ever having an allowance, but if I needed money for something I would help out more than usual around the house. I would only get 5 dollars but that wasn't monthly. I'm 19 now, so I really only get money for my birthday and Christmas. I don't think allowances were a thing where I grew up, none of my friends had one. Whenever I have kids, I'll give them an allowance only if they help out more than usual. I do see the benefits of having one, it teaches kids the value of money and they respect it more.
I used to be given the daily allowance when I was studying in school, usually to buy usual things like foods or drinks when I feel like it.
The only allowance I ever received was called "lunch money"
