Pokemon Cries

So I'm having some trouble with inserting a cry. This cry is 21 seconds long (wait don't freak out), I am not using it for the purpose of a pokemon's cry, I'm using it for the sake of convenience. Making this 21 second sound a cry is the most convenient way I can insert it, if it really won't work no matter what then I'll have to resort to another method. Anyway the problem is, after inserting the cry with ChaosRush's tutorial by inserting my .wav with import sample and changing the pokemon's cry with PGE, it only plays about 2.5 seconds out of 21 before it ends. I also couldn't help but notice the MASSIVE amount of space it took up for 2.5 seconds 0x800000-0x900000+ (yes all of that). Now I know this is pretty outrageous for a pokemon's cry but would anyone happen to know the reasoning behind this 2.5 seconds?

iirc, the cries are limited to only last for less than 3 seconds. Jynx's cry is by far the longest cry in the game. I am not sure if there's a way to bypass the cry's length limit.

I think you can repeat/loop a cry several times, likes some the in game ones but I cant remember how to do it or if that would help what you need

So I researched all day searching the game for signs of the cry's timing and experimented with many things (actually discovered a few things) but found nothing on expanding the time. It turns out I've found a better method of inserting this 21 second track than my previous ideas lol :)
Thanks though ;)

What's the better method?

Well it doesn't concern your situation, but I was trying to get it to use the cry command in a script after inserting the sound, but I came across this tutorial that seemed a little obvious after reading it and a little bit of a facepalmer that I didn't think of it, but doing this worked too: http://www.romhack.me/tutorials/view/editing-menu-sounds-and-more-with-sappy
Its basically setting a wav sound to a note in a voicegroup by importing samples and stretching that note in a midi for as long as the sound was (21 seconds in my case).
