I SAID I DON'T WANT TO!

What are some things you just don't want to learn how to do, no matter how many times people push you?

Driving. Get off my case. I don't want to learn. =/ I'm scared of another car hitting me when I'm driving and refuse to learn because of this.

Somewhere_ July 3rd, 2015 12:02 PM

I am learning how to drive, and I like driving a little. But, similar to you, I really dont feel like learning. I dont find the need to learn, so I simply dont really want to. When I get my license, I am not going to go anywhere unless I run errands for my parents.

I dont want to learn how to scuba dive or sky dive. No thank you.

Centipede Chan July 3rd, 2015 12:03 PM

Learning to do stupid things that will literally give me 0 benefit to anything and life and will only anger me more.

maccrash July 3rd, 2015 1:42 PM

LEARNING TO DRIVE IS THE BEST THING EVER IMO. my life has improved ever since I got my license: even disregarding the Joy it brings me to drive around places it's just much more convenient. but that's just me.

idk I'm pretty open-minded to learning new things most of the time, otherwise!

TwilightBlade July 3rd, 2015 1:53 PM

I was so against driving and didn't get my learner's permit until like, 19. I didn't get my driver's license until last year. I was shaking so much at first and quite fearful of getting in a bad car accident. It got better after a few months and now I love driving to go get food, especially take out, going out to the pizza hut to get some meat lover's pizza and some breadsticks

but parents couldn't get me to learn how to swim at all despite taking me to swim lessons twice. you can't get me to swim. there are sharks in the beach water and unidentifiable things in the pool you know

Kenchiin July 3rd, 2015 1:58 PM

Funny part: It also happens to me regarding driving. I just hate cars, I hate driving, I have the slightest interest in learning it. Everytime I hear a comment like "You should to drive" I always respond something like "You should learn to SHUT UP".

Sonata July 3rd, 2015 2:47 PM

I like to learn new things so I don't really mind. But I do hate driving in cars and trucks. I prefer two wheels because they're easier to deal with and I like fresh air, but they're not practical for a good chunk of the year.

Seems like everyone here really dislikes driving...and I thought I was procrastinating because I didnt even get my permit until about 4 months after my birthday. The process was ridiculous for the permit. I had to (pretty sure everyone does, but its different in every state) take a 4 hour drug and alcohol test, and the info the taught me to test on was inaccurate! All they had to say was, "dont drink and drive." and the other test I had to study for with a booklet they gave me at the DMV, and it taught me nothing. I haven't found any of the info useful.

I guess I also hate learning how to properly make a bed. Yep, just making a bed. I can never make my bed perfect, and its not like I despise doing chores, either.

I also hate learning how to dance. I dislike it when people try to teach me to dance or sing or something for some insignificant event or whatever else its for. This was more for when I was much younger in elementary school, when they always made you do this stuff. Now, its mostly when the school has a dance thing, and they expect you to dance a certain way. Sort of hard to give a proper example for this.

Riding a bike. I've just never felt like doing it. At this point, it's just pure laziness.

Bounsweet July 3rd, 2015 6:43 PM

Idk, I haven't really had anyone tell me that I should learn something because I'm pretty proactive with things.

Plus, I like learning things. Life is all about learning!

Fun Size July 3rd, 2015 6:43 PM

Swimming for me. I just hate water (unless I'm drinking it) and since I never get in it, I see no point to learn.

Spinosaurus July 3rd, 2015 6:50 PM

This is gonna end up being a thread about driving

Tsutarja July 3rd, 2015 6:51 PM

Riding a bike. I never wanted to learn it as a kid, and I probably wouldn't to this day. Same goes with roller-skating, and skateboarding as well.

Sydian July 3rd, 2015 6:57 PM

I'm on the driving boat (or car?) with those that have mentioned that. Well, sorta. I mean, I used to be. I put off getting my license til I was 17 and it was a week before I graduated high school. I put it off because I was terrified of road accidents and such. To be fair, I'm still afraid of that kind of stuff, but the freedom of being able to drive myself wherever I need to go is too much to sacrifice for sake of my fear. Plus, I don't live in an area with constant and reliable public transport like New York. In Alabama, you have no subways, buses are usually only for long distances or elderly and disabled people, taxis are extremely rare, and walking is not an option. I think it's perfectly plausible to be put off by driving because there are still high risks of drunk drivers, people that text while driving, etc. It's totally understandable that people wouldn't want to do it.

Hm. Other than putting off driving, there's not much else I can think of. I sometimes get lazy with things I already know how to do though, if that makes sense. Like learning new tricks in hooping, for example. I sometimes am just too lazy and don't feel like dealing with the frustration that comes along with learning new tricks, haha. I love hooping, but I don't consider myself very handy with it. :( I'd like to learn chest and shoulder hooping, but effort...lol.

how about using chopsticks. look man I can barely eat with a fork so stop trying to get me to eat this rice with a stick

Nolafus July 3rd, 2015 7:11 PM

Driving a stick shift. I can drive a regular car just fine, and I got my license the day after my 16th birthday, but I can't drive a stick shift for the life of me. My dad tried teaching me, but I killed the engine six times in a row just getting it in gear, and we gave up, haha.

Pendraflare July 3rd, 2015 7:28 PM

I'm 24 and still don't have my license, which is sad. But I re-obtained my permit recently and have done some driving with my dad recently, so i'm trying to get the hang of it. But a professional (who I worked with a bit in 2011) will be giving me a few lessons very soon. Although while I was on college campus it isn't that big a deal since I can take the bus to certain places. It's not likely i'll be able to get my license before I return to college for my final semester but we'll see.

As for something I don't want to do? Haven't thought of any off the top of my head.

punkysaur July 3rd, 2015 8:40 PM

For me it will be swimming! My mom has many a times told me to learn swimming but I have been reluctant.Though I am sure its nothing related to fear!I just am very bored!

Gulpin July 3rd, 2015 9:03 PM

Probably things like skateboarding/longboarding or other forms of transportation beyond walking and driving. I just learned to ride a bike a few months ago, and since I know how to drive and I'm good at walking I think I'm good with modes of transportation.
Other than that, maybe things like rock climbing? I'm not really interested in stuff that combines physical requirements with imminent danger.

Xertified July 3rd, 2015 9:06 PM

Math.

My school was so overrated

Sylphiel July 3rd, 2015 10:04 PM

@ driving, even though I finally learned this because of necessity, I do understand why people would be nervous of it. I'm not too fond of driving myself even though I know how to - I did have a very minor but still nerve-rattling experience when I still only had a permit that put me off getting my license for years. Although I haven't touched a stick shift since then, and will never again if I have any say in it. You can't make me drive one.

@ swimming, this is probably the one thing I'm still wary of learning. I'm sure I can, but I have this thing against going into any sort of water where I can't touch bottom and still have my head above water. I mean, I could learn swimming past what little I've learned on my own, but if I'm still scared off by deeper water, then what's the point?

And related to swimming, learning how to dive at all? Oh no no. Not doing that.

@ anything else ....no, can't really think of much that I wouldn't mind learning. Not at this moment anyway.

I absolutely refuse to learn how to drive a stick shift. My dad tried to teach me how to drive using one and I had a minor accident when doing so. It's just so complicated and requires much more awareness as opposed to standard and yeah it just isn't for me either 8(

There are a lot of things I want to learn from driving, cooking, swimming, cycling to anything. I guess that's because I'm curious by nature? So far I haven't encounter things that I don't want to learn, having the time to learn is one another thing though, hahaha!

Wicked3DS July 3rd, 2015 10:22 PM

I'm pretty open to learning new things. You never know when a skill could come in handy, so I don't see a reason not to learn something if you can.
