sleep

what's your sleep position and do you wake up in that same position? what conditions are needed for you to acquire a good night's rest?

personally i sleep on my stomach and i find i wake up on my back. for me to get a good night's rest my room needs to be cold, dark, and fairly quiet, unless it's raining.

I sleep and stay on my side, and I prefer it cold, dark, and quiet as well.

I find it almost impossible to sleep on my side :( I'm almost always on my stomach when sleeping but I do wake up in various other positions because I toss and turn a lot in my sleep.

Spinosaurus July 10th, 2015 9:19 PM

Because of my skin condition I can't remember the last time I had a good night sleep. Always wake up sore. Best possible conditions would be if its cold and dark. Sleeping in any heat? Practically experiencing an actual, real nightmare.

Also have to be in specific positions otherwise it'd be too irritating for me.

Lapis July 10th, 2015 10:56 PM

Mmm yes sleeping. I don't really have a favorite sleeping position sadly enough. Just go with whatever feels the most comfortable at the time. c:

Nagi July 11th, 2015 12:45 AM

i always sleep on my side, with the upper leg pulled up towards me to prevent myself from rolling onto my stomach. and my arms are always in front of me, next to or under my pillow, haha. i always sleep like this, and it works very well apparently as i fall asleep in no time. but it does result in me waking up once or twice a night to change sides. but it's pretty much subconscious, so i don't really miss out on sleep because of it.

i agree with the aformentioned sleeping conditions - cold, quiet, and dark. though i do like keeping my curtains open so some moon/starlight gets in and i can look outside, somehow.

Return July 11th, 2015 1:22 AM

Not have a definite sleep Position, i sleep in any position that made me feel comfortable to sleep haha.

Sun July 11th, 2015 1:45 AM

It's simple, a dark and quiet room is the best sleeping environment for me.

Xertified July 11th, 2015 2:36 AM

I sleep facing in the left side and waking up in the right side :D

Somewhere_ July 11th, 2015 5:14 AM

I prefer cold, dark, quiet or rainy.

I change positions so many times I dont know how I fall asleep. I kick and move around a ton in my sleep. When I was younger, no one could sleep with me in hotels because I would literally kick them off the bed. Now, I just sleep on a pullout bed or something if I can't sleep alone. Its really bad haha. I also manage is kick all of my pillows and blankets off at night, even if they are tucked in.

My best friend, sister, and mom have confirmed I talk in my sleep. Apparently its just a bunch of nonsense and its quiet, but I do talk in my sleep.

queeniewolf July 11th, 2015 6:07 AM

I always sleep on my side, usually facing the wall (or the side closer to a wall) .. not sure why.

I definitely prefer cold over hot in my bedroom. Also like having a lot of pillows but that's not obligatory haha
I usually listen to something (audio books and stuff like that) because I can't stand silence. If I'm alone with just my thoughts they drive me crazy and keep me from falling asleep so I like having something to distract me and kinda lull me to sleep.

At the moment I fall asleep rather quickly but my sleep tends to be rather light so I wake up to most noises.
I've had flatmates try to play a prank on me while sleeping but unfortunately for them I wake up as soon as they set one foot into my room lol

Sheep July 11th, 2015 6:15 AM

I used to sleep on my stomach but that made me wake up with neck pains every other week so nowadays I sleep on my sides. Can't properly sleep on my back even though it's actually super comfortable.. just doesn't feel natural?? Dunno, I can only fall asleep like that when I wake up and find myself sleeping that way before going back to sleep.

Also I am a very very light sleeper so many things would wake me up. I need total silence, the windows have to be closed, and I need to be covered with a thick blanket (even in the summer since thin ones make me feel "exposed" for lack of better term, just awkward to sleep with). So of course my summer sleeping tends to be pretty bad compared to other seasons. :C Someone want to switch?

Suicune July 11th, 2015 7:09 AM

I usually sleep on my side, particularly the right unless there is a bright screen in that direction (laptop, tv, etc.) in which I usually face away, but almost always on my side. Sometimes I'll sleep on my belly and wake-up on my side, hah.

The room has to be relatively dark, chilly and just recently I've been able to sleep with the TV off but need some sort of background noise or else I feel uncomfortable. (like a fan, rain) I also need blankets over my feet even if it's 80 or so degrees. XD I also have a hard-time falling asleep if I'm wearing socks.

Hikamaru July 11th, 2015 7:21 AM

I sleep on both the back and the side. Yeah, a person who does anything, and that's not even limited to sleeping positions. I may also tend to sleep in a certain position based on my general health or the weather.

Detox July 11th, 2015 7:34 AM

I sleep in the fetal position because if I don't then my feet will hand off of my bed, despite it being a queen sized mattress. You gotta love being tall, man. Chances are I will not wake up in this position, because I tend to move around a lot when I sleep.

If I hope to fall asleep at all then it must be pretty cool n the room. I can sleep with my television on or off so darkness isn't really a factor, but if you turn the room light on while I'm in bed then you might as well square up because we're about to fight. A moderate amount of noise is fine, but I usually prefer it to be pretty quiet.

Nolafus July 11th, 2015 7:58 AM

I sleep on my stomach and wake up in the same position. I'm not sure if I move around while I sleep, but it can't be too bad. I used to have a lot of trouble sleeping, but I fixed my sleeping schedule, and that's pretty much fixed. I just have to have a pillow and blanket, and I'm pretty much set anywhere, no matter what it's like.

Livewire July 11th, 2015 8:53 AM

I either usually lay on my left side or curl up, I have long legs and they hang the edge of my bed and it drives me nuts My room has to be pretty cool also, trying to sleep when its hot/muggy is an awful experience.

Sonata July 11th, 2015 10:01 AM

I either sleep on my stomach or sleep on my side curled up in a ball while facing the wall. I also need to have some kind of sound in my room to fall asleep. It takes me hours to fall asleep with something on, but it takes even longer to fall asleep with nothing on. Silence sucks.

Hiatus July 11th, 2015 11:45 AM

For me, it's either side or back, and when waking up, oftentimes, it's on my stomach. As far as the environment goes, I turn all lights off before heading over. While I'm in bed, I'm always thinking about something, which makes it kind of tough for me to get to sleep, and if lights are on, it becomes even more tough.

Sylphiel July 11th, 2015 1:03 PM

I don't really pay attention to all the various positions I wake up in, but I'm pretty sure I don't always wake up in the same manner in which I fell asleep. :P Also, I must sleep on my side (either side works), I can't sleep well on my stomach and trying to sleep on my back is usually only for when I feel I need to relax my back to be able to sleep.

And I think the biggest other requirement for me is that it can't be too hot in the room. Darkness and silence are nice perks and definitely help contribute to a good rest, but I've fallen asleep in places before even with lights on and noises around me, so yeah.

starseed galaxy auticorn July 11th, 2015 1:43 PM

I usually sleep on my side. As for the side I wake up on, I never pay much attention. XD I have a specific routine that needs to be done before I can fall asleep. A lot of people would frown at it because it's not appropriate for proper sleep. I don't really care though. :x

One requirement for me is that my room has to be cold. I can't stand the heat, even though I live in Arizona lol. I grew up in Maine though, so I really prefer the cold over the heat.

Yukari July 11th, 2015 6:53 PM

I always sleep on my side or stomach (Either works) with my arms wrapped around my pillow. (I dunno why, but I can't sleep otherwise.) I've tried sleeping in other positions but I just can't fall asleep. :c And yes I always wake up like that.

And when I sleep it has to be really, really dark. Like pitch black, just about no light whatsoever. Also there has to be some sound or else I can't sleep. So sometimes I have my radio on or I turn on my fan or something.

Wicked3DS July 11th, 2015 8:06 PM

I'm either on my side or my stomach and I usually wake up in one of those positions.

Percy July 11th, 2015 10:17 PM

My preferred sleeping position varies everyday. I wake up on my back, though. I love it when it rains, helps me sleep. I listen to some soothing music, if I can't sleep.

SnowpointQuincy July 12th, 2015 1:23 AM

I start on my side and then roll onto my back later - after checking Reddit and Twitter to see what positions are "in" at that moment. Gotta stay trendy, right? Right? ...am I trying to hard... I'm doing it wrong aren't I?

Universe July 19th, 2015 9:51 PM

strangely, it depends on whichever side of the bed i'm sleeping on. if i'm on the left side of it, i will sleep on my left side, and so on.

i like relaxing on my back and stomach but it's difficult to fall asleep that way-- not impossible tho!

cream July 20th, 2015 5:09 PM

i mostly sleep on my stomach or on my side. nothing in particular makes me sleep better; i fall asleep easily and even if i wake up in the middle of the night i always get back to sleep pretty fast.
