and my twitter goes to...
If, when you die, you had to pass on your entire online identity to someone close to you, be it a friend, family member, or someone else online, and they had to continue living as you online, who would you choose, and why? Do you think people would notice? Why or why not?
(In this hypothetical dystopia your online alter ego can't claim to have died IRL so don't try. Also assume that there is no association between photos of yourself that you post online and your online "ego") |
my oldest child
it would be a family tradition when the current dies, the oldest child of theirs inherits their internet presence |
my internet presence will die with me
or rather, lack of presence |

No one probably. If I do, probably my oldest child if I ever have one lol.

I'd much rather take my online life to my grave. Like Archy said, no one can be me. However, I think I would leave my accounts to maybe one person. The only reason why I would is so they can tell my online friends I've died. I wouldn't really give them my online identity though. That'd be kind of odd for me. :x There's only one person that can be me... and that's me. :3
|
nobody. this trainwreck comes to the grave with me. literally. i will be taking my phone and laptop to the grave, ain't no way anyone is finding out about my online life lmao.
|
If I ever had a kid, I'd tell them to inherit my accounts but the problem is I have a huge fear of pregnancy due to my intolerance of pain which happens when you deliver the baby, so I'd just rather go missing and never come back.
|
perhaps they would benefit from my bookmarks
otherwise i do not see much pleasure in anyone pretending to be me unless by some unfortunate act by god it ties into some labyrinthine plot to accrue massive wealth |
would anyone even want to (pretend to) be me online?
|
No one, because I'll give my family my usernames and passwords to inform my online friends about my passing, so they won't have to worry if I'm either missing or quit online.
|
I'd rather not. I want them left to gather dust until it's necessary enough to be deleted.
why would i let my FAMILY have my twitter when i've talked shit about them 75% of the time lmao |
Absolutely no one. Only I can be me, and you expect me to leave my internet identity to someone else? No. If I die, so do my internet accounts.
|
I think Most likely my Husband
|
My account dies with me for personal reasons.
|
Pretending to be me would seem really dishonest, and I wouldn't sanction it even if I was in a position to never care anymore.
So yeah, count me among all those who wouldn't pass on their accounts. If nothing else, just let them fade into obscurity. Plus, I'm sure people would notice regardless of who I picked. |
i'm pretty sure no one wants my online identity-- it's virtually non-existent anyways. :s
|
eh no one can have many online identity. would be a waste of time it's not like it was important or noticed anyway
|
No one. Because ain't nobody going to be able to replicate this perfection js
|
Ha. Good one.
Everything goes with me when I die. |
There's a friend of mine I'd trust knowing me inside out over here so if I were to die quite suddenly I wouldn't mind her being the one to announce the news of my death via my social media etc. Not sure she knows my current password though!
If she wanted to troll people by pretending to be me well eh it's not like I'm alive to moan about it. |
